It's a nice hotel but, it's smaller than expected and after staying here, I can see that the popularity comes more from what it appears to be as opposed to what it actually is. Service was not great and not what I expected at all. I'm a World of Hyatt member and hotels in this category usually are stellar but this one was far from. At first, I thought that maybe it was just because the first person I met at the front desk wasn't all that knowledgeable but, when I went to the pool area, I noticed that the waitstaff and bartender just were not mentally present. The manager was nice and sent someone over after we sat there for 15 minutes without a menu or water or having anyone speak to us after being seated. Also, the staff barely answers the phone and the cafe is almost like an overpriced boutique version of Starbucks but with way less options. This hotel really sells because of its photo ops but the pool is small and doesn't get much sun. Some of the beach chairs are seated in front of people's rooms that have access to the pool so it's awkward. The king room with the balcony isn't all that big but it is nice. However, we were missing a robe and there were no cups that came with the bar in the room. I spent $480 for one night and it wasn't worth it. If you're looking for luxury with good service, check out one of Hyatt's many other hotels in the city. This one is just good for photo ops and maybe the club.

Loved this hotel. Stayed there as part of an event, so I didn't have to pay for the room. Comfy bed in a clean and interestingly designed room. Some nice features, such as a built-in white noise generator: useful because it can be a little noisy at night. Helpful staff. Good burger at the bar. Visited a couple of the function rooms and generally impressed. Would stay again if someone else was paying again.

This place needs a reality check. I like to be fair so I will start with the good things. Location is great. Hotel reception and cleaning people were the best. My bad review relates to PHD and its security (some of them). PHD ruined the experience. It is an awful place located inside the hotel. It is loud and some nights it prevented us from having a good night of sleep. We came back to the hotel after a nice dinner at Catch. We want to check out the PhD nightclub and while waiting in line I had something on my throat that bothered me so I put my hands on my mouth and coughed. One unreasonable security person, bald and with a V-neck sweater yelled at me saying I had to cough leaning to my elbow so I wouldn’t touch anything with hands with germs. He was highly offensive and said “didn’t your parents taught you how to cough???” It was extremely rude for absolutely no reason. I told him i just got something on my throat and wasn’t in anyway sick, and asked him to apologize. He said “ I am sorry your parents didn’t teach how to cough bending your arms.” I had put my hands on my mouth, instead. Another security guard said “I am sorry for this.” Which went a long way and meant the world to me. I wish I had his name. I tipped him and wish I got his name to publicly thank him for just … being normal and fair. It is very weird that Google keep this as their “go to” NYC office hotel . It is loud due to this terrible frequented nightclub. It keeps employees awake during a work trip and it is not a good option for the company. If I were Google, I would offer employees other options to stay, there are so many great places in NYC and Dream Hotel, because of PHD, it is a depressing, dark, and not friendly place to stay. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Great Chelsea location and close to subway. Front desk very helpful. Rooms are good, had to request water and coffee maker. Toiletries are middle of the road, no extras provided.Nice robe provided. Bed is quite low to the ground but comfortable. Lighting is very subdued so not great at night. Nice porthole window view. Coffee place in hotel has very limited hours. Very noisy rooftop bar that can be heard from my fifth floor room.

It was a very good staying. The reception was super nice, the hotel is beautiful, I love the art gallery. The room was pretty good, I only took one start due to the bed being okay, I had better expectations due to the price range. However everything was clean and the room is quite beautiful too. Overall I enjoyed and recommend it. I heard that hotel get a lot of party people and can get noisy, it wasn’t the case for me this time, it was silent and chill, I had a good sleep.

Stayed here one Saturday night. Upon check-in around 4pm, the front desk notified us and apologized that "due to construction work by Con-Edison, the hot water will be out from 10pm to 4am" in our section of the building. At that time, not anticipating showering during that window of time, it was OK. However, upon arrival to the room, a paper in the room listed the hours as "10pm to 8am" which is significantly less convenient and seemed like a bait and switch, where someone checking in would OK the 4am timeline only to find it was actually 8am upon arrival in their room. Further, the hot water was not back on by after 8am and prior to checkout, our party needed to take cold showers. We were out to breakfast from 9am until we checked out around 10:30am and did not check to see of the hot water was restored before leaving. Upon checkout, no further comments or apologies were made. No offers of a partial credit, Hyatt points, or any remuneration for a hotel room with no functioning hot water for much of the stay was offered. The hotel location is great. The lobby is visually appealing. The hallways of the hotel show clear signs of wear and tear with scratches and scuffs. The room itself has fairly comfortable beds, two uncomfortable low chairs, and a small closet for hanging clothes. It's New York prices for average facilities overall.

My negative experience started even before me getting to the hotel. I had to call them a few times in order to get the hotel booked because the first time the phone call was dropped and no one called me back after I got the confirmation I realized that they have not included the early checking as we spoke about on the phone, so I had to call them again and pay for an extra day. The pets are pretty soft and I requested if they could give me a room that has a more firm mattress. I get there late and tired. The bed sheets were dirty and full of body hair. The bed was soft too btw. So I gave all the shoes back to the manager, the next day, and he told me that he will fix most of these issues. After four days of staying there Nothing was changed, my bedsheets were the same dirty ones that I had on the first day when i was leaving. Nothing can compensate the inability to sleep for three nights on a business trip

What a cool hotel! We upgraded to a gold king room and it was totally worth it! We had a view of the empire state building and all of uptown Manhattan. The room was roomy and we'll maintained with a modern feel and touches. The staff were very kind but were impossible to get in touch with past ten. The pillows were made of feather, which is a nice touch but not my thing. When I called housekeeping to get a different pillow they weren't very happy with me and it took about 1.5 hours.

I was very disappointed with my stay at the Dream Downtown. Don’t expect to sit in lounge chairs by the pool, unless you are willing to pay $150 per chair EVEN AS A GUEST. Swimming pool is mostly for non-guests users who will book their chair in advance. When we got there, there were no chairs available, even at that exorbitant price. Pool area is pretty small and it gets absolutely overcrowded by non-guests. My swimsuit never hit the water which was very frustrating as it was the main reason for my husband and me to choose this hotel. In addition to the $150 per chair at the pool, we as guests had to pay a $50/day “resort fee”, but it basically just covers the gym, which we didn't even used. Staff at the front desk were very unfriendly when we arrived. Anthony particularly was very rude to us out of nowhere and there was this woman who didn’t seem to know much about the hotel rules and information so was not able to answer non of our questions. Oh, actually she did answer but giving us wrong information. No coffee-making facility or complimentary water - something you get in many of the most basic of motels. I definitely don’t recommend.

Anthony was amazing from the front desk. He went above and beyond and never forgot about me and my family during our 7 day stay! He deserves 10 stars. The 3 stars comes from lack of larger room availability despite reservation stating child under 2 years old and 2 adults. Due to the duration of our stay, we were unable to receive a room large enough to accommodate us. However, if it weren't for Anthony and his out of the box thinking, I think we would have left the first night. He went above and beyond to find the best possible option given the circumstances. We enjoyed our stay but this is definitely NOT a hotel to bring your family to. I also want to thank the bellman for his exceptional care and service. Will return without the family for sure next time. Loved the Dream hotel

This is a beautiful, hip hotel in Chelsea but what you don’t know before you come is that there is a club that plays music into the early morning hours every single night. You hear the music & vibrating bass all night & some of the of the hotel goers come home from whatever bar/club & talk loudly down the hallways going back to their room. This will be my 3rd night here & I haven’t gotten any sleep on this entire vacation. Worst part is, you need all the energy to walk miles & miles throughout the day in NY & with no sleep it completely ruins your energy level to enjoy the city. I’ll never stay here again.

The lobby bar is a beautiful area and some rooms have great views, but that’s where the *dream* ends. Buttons falling off walls, TVs not working, not stocked mini bars, no room service, the bathroom lights light up the entire room at night when you turn them on, the maids steal, no robe in the room, no plugs where they had their own clocks and lights, horribly uncomfortable beds, etc. This place is just old and run down. It’s fine if you don’t plan on spending much time in your room and don’t care about comfort when you are in there. If you’re looking for something nicer and more comfortable, look elsewhere.

Mixed review here. We checked in around 5pm & experienced for the first time what can best be described as a cold and rather unfriendly welcome. The dark, older overweight male clerk sternly denied my polite and simple request for a late checkout and repeated No and it will be at 11am, twice for some odd reason. I have travelled all over the world and this was the first time this has happened. We had dinner reservations at 6pm and were back out of the room rather quickly. I found the room to be very clean and comfortable. We arrived back at the hotel around 6am and this time a younger clerk politely and warmly greeted us with a smile and a good morning.I politely asked if a late checkout was possible, he smiled said that wouldnt be a problem and asked me how much time would I would need. He was happy to accomidate us a late checkout. The two stars is for the experience at check in. If I was able to rate the room and the other staff there would be 5 stars.

To start with the location is great. Right next to Chelsea market, bars, restaurants, takeouts, smoke shops, within walking distance to the high line, Times Square and Greenwich village and next to a subway station that takes you straight to Penn station/JFK it was really conveniently located. The reception area is very cool. The restaurant and room service is a very expensive mandarin restaurant next door so didn’t utilitise this as around $40 per dish. We got a poolside room but pool wasn’t open unfortunately as closed for season which is disappointing as the weather was lovely and warm. My room didn’t have a hairdryer so called down to reception and the lady on the phone was extremely rude which wasn’t great. The main reason I’m rating this hotel 3* is the room was tiny. Literally a bed with a frosted glass bathroom next to the bed and no other space. We had to constantly step over our suitcase. It was extremely claustrophobic and we were there for 3 nights which didn’t make the stay very pleasant and no privacy away from my husband and vice versa when one of us needed to toilet as you can see and hear everything. At $600 a night would expect a lot better - the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in. We did 2 weeks travelling the east coast USA and this was the most expensive but smallest and worst value room on the trip. If you want a very basic hotel (no proper bar except the club/wont use room service/wont spend any time there) then this is fine - if you want comfort and luxury as well as location there seems to be a number of better hotels in the area.

Overall, the hotel was nice. The staff were great and the location is super. However, the bed was garbage! I was there for almost a week and slept horribly. The bed is literally a wood plank with a poof of a mattress that looked like it would be comfortable however, once you sit on the bed, you realize that it’s just fluff and feels like you are sleeping only on the wood plank. There’s no duvet cover, they layer loads of white sheets and tuck them under the mattress and call it good. I was there for work and it made it hard be alert the next day.

Great location. Stayed here twice. Problem with this hotel is the roof top bar. I mean, it is LOUD and the bass kept me awake every night until late. Also cleaning is not great. A lot of dust on the floor around the sofa. If the br was not there, i would def. Stay there again.

The Dream Downtown Hotel in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood offers guests a stylish and luxurious experience. The hotel is praised for its chic and contemporary design, which extends from the public spaces to the individual rooms. Guests love the cleanliness of the rooms and commend the hotel’s staff for their attentive and kind service. With amenities like a rooftop pool and several dining options, along with its convenient location near attractions such as the High Line and Chelsea Market, the hotel is a popular choice for travelers. While the vibrant atmosphere may not be everyone’s preference, especially on weekends, overall the Dream Downtown provides a memorable stay for those seeking style and luxury in Manhattan.

The hotel is in a great part of Chelsea close to the piers, and the Chelsea market. The rooms were well kept, spacious, and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, and the atmosphere of the rooms was cozy and unique. I would definitely stay here again.

I was really excited to stay here. My partner and I checked in hoping for a quiet night, but the bass from the rooftop bar reverberated into our room into the early morning. I spoke to the manager in the morning, who was apologetic and offered to discount & upgrade a future stay. The manager was amazing and I only have good things to say about her.

During my recent stay at the Dream Downtown, part of Hyatt, I had a mixed experience. On a positive note, the staff's exceptional hospitality stood out, showcasing their dedication and professionalism. Unfortunately, the rooms I stayed in did not live up to my expectations, especially considering the price. There were cleanliness issues, notably grime in the shower tiles, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, I faced inconvenience with the hot water supply, experiencing no hot water on one occasion and limited supply on another morning. This was quite disappointing. Moreover, there was an issue with the dining service. A dinner I ordered for pickup wasn't notified to me when ready, resulting in a cold meal. Such lapses in service, particularly in a hotel of this stature, are unexpected and diminish the overall guest experience. In summary, while the staff at Dream Downtown are commendable, the room standards and certain service aspects need improvement to justify the cost of the stay.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say that the service by the head management was excellent. They were attentive and quick to address any issues, although there weren't many. The manager, who shares my Leo sign, went above and beyond to make our stay special. Raymond's hospitality was exceptional. He not only corrected any minor issues but also suggested flower shops, entertainment spots, and in-house events for us to enjoy. He even helped us in our search for my girlfriend's lost earrings, although we couldn't locate them in the end. I requested a room away from traffic and the rooftop club, and I can't express how well I slept. It was peaceful and comfortable. A young lady who was also part of the management team informed us about validating our parking tickets across the street, which saved us from getting a ticket ourselves. Overall, this hotel would have been a perfect 10 for me if it weren't for the troubled elevators, but I would still rate it a solid 9. It made my birthday celebration unforgettable. P.S. I highly recommend visiting Philippe Chow, located within the hotel. The food is amazing, and the DJ plays all the New York throwback hits. It's a fantastic addition to your stay.

My experience at Dream Downtown was fantastic! The decor is beautiful, the entertainment space onsite is very convenient, and the location is ideal for lively restaurants. Throughout my stay I was met with excellent service throughout. Raymond was incredibly helpful with the check in process. Following check out I realized that I had left an item in the room and Raymond contacted me, shipped the item to me in Canada within 2 days, and even followed up to ensure that I received the item! I honestly could not have asked for a better stay. Thank you!

Really nice hotel. The entrance is cool with a plethora of screens showing hip NFTs for sale. Our room was cleaned every day nicely and staff are friendly. Late checkout at 12:30 wasn't a problem. The bathroom sink was a little small with not a lot of counter space is the only little comment on the not-so-positive side that I would have. All in all fun vibe though.

Super unique hotel. Very different layout, so be prepared to be confused getting around and figuring out some light switches in the room. Very modern. I left a 3 star for just the overall feeling of confusion. When checking in, we overheard a person upset with a charge she wasn’t prepared for. Only to be slapped with the same charge upon my checkout. They have quite a few tacked on surprise facility fees. I currently have 3 charges pending, and not too happy with that. Up to $360 charged for a 2 night stay. (I’m aware of incidentals) - Not replaced smoke alarm battery beeps through the night, messy, & confusing. But, clearly a very vibe forward hotel, as opposed to actual comfort.

Our room wasn't too nice. The door handle broke, the light was not working properly, it wasn't very clean either. The bed, however, was very comfortable. We asked for water, but only got a few super small bottles, because they said they'd need their waters for the party that was happening upstairs at the club. The gym was okay. The coffee at the lobby cafè great. Overall I wouldn't want to come back, unless one wants to party there or nearby I think for the price we paid, there are much nicer options in the city.

  • 2/5 Colin 1 year ago on Google
Rooms are generally nice. The issue is in the details. The lighting is the main problem. Next to your bed are light switches that glow orange. They’re quite bright and keep you up at night. The light panel at the doorway doesn’t turn off the bathroom lights, so to leave the room you have to turn off the bathroom light and then the main lights and then hopefully not trigger the “smart” light that turns all the lights on when you enter the room (this sensor screws up all the time ). The closet lights stay on all night because the closet door doesn’t close all the way. Besides lighting, the place feels very dated. Overall, it’s fine. But not really worth the money.

We really enjoyed our stay here for pride. Our king size bed room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. The room has a lot of nice details- the balcony, the lights, stocked with alcohol, water pressure in the shower, and even a speaker in the bathroom so you can still here the tv. The pool is nice too. When we forgot our toothbrush, they gave us some for free.

We stayed just one night at the Dream courtesy of Delta Airlines. Pleasantly surprised by this lower west side hotel. Helpful reception staff, very attractive lobby with a well staffed bar. Rooms are small but with comfortable beds and a good size bathroom and shower. Large round windows are a trademark of the hotel and each room has at least one. Southeast side rooms on upper floors have a good view of the Empire State Building. One quirky issue is that the swimming pool bottom is the ceiling of the lobby and makes for some interesting views. Overall a good middle priced hotel in a good location (the Chelsea Market is almost next door). We give it four clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

It’s a cool hotel for sure, the room was very nice… a little small but well done. I had chosen the spot because I heard all about their glass bottom pool. It actually is perched on the floor above the lobby on the ground floor. It looked amazing from below for sure! My “dreams” were shortly dashed by the not so Dreamy front desk attendant . I was told the pool, reservations and , eh hem Cost were handled by some dude by the front door who is affiliated but not a Dream hotel employee per se. It was rather hard to follow, if I wasn’t so disappointed I may have listened more closely . It was clear I wouldn’t likely get poolside privaledge . My stay was short after all and it was mid afternoon on a hot day. That aside, great decor. Young crowd, over all pretty nice stay.

Truly not my favorite hotel in Chelsea. The rooms are tiny, the drinks and food are extremely expensive and... nott great, and there's always a party going on that you can definitely hear. That said, the beds are comfy and the shower products are nice - as is the complimentary WiFi. But if you're paying for the Dream, you might as well pay juuuust a little more and enjoy the Standard Highline instead.

  • 5/5 Kia C. 2 years ago on Google
This rooftop pool has amazing service. The pool may look small but its great for either sitting by the pool or making laps. The staff is very attentive and kind. I highly recommend paying them a visit. The food is also delicious, I had the burger and would get it again.

  • 1/5 Paul R. 2 years ago on Google
Would give this place a no star rating if possible. We spent $500 a night here and the curtains don’t close, the tv doesn’t work properly, and the sinks are all backed up. Every time we complained about it the staff would meekly smile and explain everything would be fixed. When we asked for a partial compensation for our troubles we were told no. This place is trash.

Decent; nice decor and interior lighting. There was some noise at night due to the neighbouring nightclub, and a faulty key system. Front desk were helpful and charming.
