Great service from the front desk. Not at all what I'm used to in modern hotels, but fine for a room by Times Square for $100. Everything is small and tight and aside from the mattress, I think most furniture, structures and the elevator are original to whenever the hotel was built. If you're looking to enjoy the hotel, this might not be your best bet. If you're looking to enjoy the city and need an affordable place to sleep and keep your stuff safe while you're out, this place is a good option.

We had a great stay here and would definitely return! It’s extremely affordable for midtown NYC and close to great spots and to multiple subway stations, so getting pretty much anywhere is easy. I don’t visit the city to hang in my hotel room, so it doesn’t have to be the fanciest place. The vintage vibe is cute and the people working there are really nice. We had a room with 2 beds and our own private bath which was really nice, and it all felt quite clean. They also have no problem at all storing your bags both before your check in and after check out. We arrived extremely early in the morning and left late at night, and we were able to store our bags for quite awhile both times with no issue.

We had a really good time, every morning we had cleaned towels. When we asked for hair dryer and an iron we got them delivered to our room in less than half an hour. We really recommend this place

Absolutely enjoyed staying at this unique and trendy boutique style hotel for two full months (Oct &Nov) during our work related trip to NY !!!!!!! Excellent location and just few minutes’ walk to main attractions like the Empire State Building and FlatIron, Macy’s at Heralds, museums, countless restaurants and movie complexes, etc. Neighborhood was safe and pleasant and rather peaceful with great ambience. Room decor was classy and warm with vintage furnishings and ample lighting. Housekeeping / maintenance teams were efficient and kept the rooms clean and well maintained. Front Desk team members were welcoming and extremely helpful. They were always available and sincerely committed to ensuring that guests enjoyed a truly comfortable stay at this hotel. Definitely will stay here again…..

Nice staff, clean room, safe/semi quiet location (for NYC), and great location. Very close to so many great restaurants. Best part is the price! Doesn't come with much but what you get is good. Don't let the shared bath deter you, it was clean and there was never a wait to use it. Only negative could be the small elevator that is used for the 8 floors.

When I returned to NYC in 2015 for my buddy Bob's wedding, I did the foot tour of the usual spots starting from here which is a perfect spot for a single dude not planning to be in their room much looking for a great deal.

This hotel is quite the experience! I’m visiting from Miami and woah it’s so antique I love it, the room is small but very well organized, the though have having to share a toilet and shower is weird but I’m all for it, it’s all about the experience, it’s very well close distance walking to Empire State and Townsquare. I love hotels that are outdated but well kept since 1928 looks good !

We booked this hotel because of its location and reviews and it was one of the best decisions of our trip. Great location, bathrooms really clean, nice and comfortable rooms. If we comeback to NYC, we are staying here again no doubts.

Could not have been more delighted! Hotel 31 is full of Vintage mirrors, lighting and other decor, has an antique expanding -door brass elevator, and a lovely gentleman to check you in. Comfortable bed and convenient sink, towels and toiletries in room. One of our windows had a view of the Empire State Bldg! Clean and convienent location 😊

I spent 3 months here. Incredible service for the price. Courtesy, perfect cleaning, stunning position (right in the middle of Midtown): absolutely nothing to complain. You can't find nothing better that this, at that price, in Manhattan. Strongly recommended. Well deserved 5 stars.

The rooms are quite tiny & the windows sometimes only peer out into an enclosed crevice between two buildings, but if you're cool with that (and shared bathrooms in the hallways), it's quite affordable for a private room in midtown Manhattan, and the rooms do have their own sink, TV, and WiFi. It's easy walking distance to Koreatown & the Empire State Building & they'll stamp your ticket at a nearby garage to make parking just $30/day.

After seeing that a fraudulent reserve was made with my card at this hotel I contacted them and after arguing with the individual then was the reservation canceled I found it fishy that this is the type of people that they allowed to stay at their places and I guarantee that they wouldn’t have checked for proper identity sad that I almost fell victim. And Booking.com is also at fault as there website allowed hackers to use my info

Clean, old-fashioned rooms. The room was a little cramped but for the price and location I would definitely recommend to tourists. Most places are within walking distance and not too far by car. The elevator is a beauty though, decades old but is fun to look at and be in.

Basic and inexpensive. Thin walls, so pray you don't have a noisy neighbour. Bathroom down the hall was clean and well maintained but the water pressure and temperature left a lot to be desired.

Good location, fine rooms. -1 because the shared washroom doesn't have soap & towel. -1 because I found a cockroach

Run away from this place! If there was 0 stars I would definitely give it to that horrible hotel,The service was awful, the staff was Completely rude. Never experienced this degree of racism I have felt extremely disrespected and publicly humiliated compared to how the staff treats his other guests. His treatment of me has been as contentious as it has been continuous, and I feel it is a result of some racial and/or age discrimination he harbors towards people like me. I have to walk past him every time I come or go and I get nasty looks from him. When I asked if he didn't like me for some reason he started yelling at me and told me to go somewhere else but never give my refund and at that point I no longer feel safe. The hotel is worse than the pictures. They didn’t have everything on the list I asked for refrigerator the staff want to charge more money if I want it, I asked for Iron but never got it No Heating in the room You are paying for poor customer services and poor quality hotel. STAY AWAY!!
