Great hotel and location. Easy check in. Rooms were clean and nice, however, myself and others that also stayed at the hotel could not get the temperature in the rooms lowered and it was extremely hot. We had our holiday party on the rooftop which was beautiful. Once the staff began to clean up I was shocked at how poor some of their attitudes were towards the guests that were still in the room wrapping up conversations, etc.

The room was acceptable with the exception of the bathroom. No full shower door and the door to the bathroom made no sense/was a closing hazard. Pool and upstairs bar were under construction, so closed. I am writing a review though because we were charged a 35 dollar a day "facility fee" which came with a bunch of things including two bottles of complimentary water (the pool which was closed/etc). After checking out I noticed a 16 dollar additional charge on my account. In inquired about it and it was ignored. Had to email again and ask why I hadn't gotten any response and I was informed that the 16 dollars was for a mini bar charge. I stated that we hadn't used the mini bar and to please inform me what was missing as we only drank the complimentary waters. They emailed back immediately and stated that the waters weren't complimentary and they were 8 dollars each. I emailed back and attached the screenshot of where it states they were clearly part of the pre-existing daily fee. They are going to refund my 16 dollars but please check your final charges. If I hadn't caught this they would have let it go and seeing as the billing department had no idea, guarantee they have been charging people for a facility fee AND a mini bar charge. Sort of a joke after one of the main "facilities" was closed and you are telling people on your website something is free and then charging them for it.

A beautiful modern Hotel. There is an excellent bar on the top floor with a superb view of New Jersey..The reason I'm giving this establishment a four is because they played the music at 5000 decibels of sound. Excellent wait staff. But the music was deafening!

I'll 100% be back and am looking forward to it. My wife and daughter loved it and I always was a huge fan of the hotel. I actually had my bachelor party there 11 years ago. The staff was fantastic and everyone was super warm and welcoming. The pool on the rooftop is super cool. Kid friendly and just amazing. A big thanks to Lauren Nordstrom for helping make the stay that much more enjoyable. Can't wait to book our next visit.

My wife and I stayed here on a weekend away and booked through the AMEX Hotel Collection. The breakfast in the hotel is worth your $100 hotel credit. Room: Great interior design and layout. Comfortable bed and nice couch by the window with a view of the Hudson River. Room was a little hot and there was no fan in the bathroom - slightly awkward with no background noise... Service: Super friendly and helpful staff. Location: Meatpacking can be loud at night. There was some hallway noise in the hotel but nothing compared to the honking and sirens outside. That said, the location is perfect for a NYC whirlwind tour. Centrally located with easy access to the Empire State Trail (Citi Bikes) or the Subway. Bottom line: I would stay here again.

I absolutely love staying at the Gansevoort. Was there this past weekend, the rooms are very good size for NYC, always spotless and so so quiet. Comfy beds, blow dryers, tooth brush, etc. Everything you need! The staff is always amazing and fast we ordered room service and coffees each morning. Terrific location, might be a little pricey but it’s well worth it!

Had my engagement party at the rooftop this weekend and couldn't be happier with how everything went. The space was beautiful, the event was well-staffed, and my guests all had a wonderful time. Lisa was super easy to work with and accommodated all my requests for food, beverages, and decorations. Thanks so much for an unforgettable day!

Stayed here for business couple of days, I really liked the hotel. The location is the best, on the big square in the Meat Packing District. Staff from front door to front desk is excellent: very friendly and professional, very good people. The rooms are upgraded and are perfect, would have preferred a walk in shower, but understand it is not always possible. Beds are good, and view on the square, in the evening it can be a bit noisy and also in the morning, but you are in the middle of the city and I am a light sleeper. What I liked is the balcony, that you can actually access (only few rooms have that). The restaurants are good and we did breakfast many times outdoors, looks like I am in France! It is very lively, but not much NY traffic and its an open square so a lot of light not like many NYC hotels in these small streets where it is dark, so great to people watch. The rooftop bar is nice and the pool I did not use. Will book again next time, it is pricey but the location and the team members makes it feel like you are on vacation. Worth it.

Great hotel, fabulous location and our experience with the staff has been mostly positive. But buyer BEWARE. If you rent the Queen Superior room, which advertises a queen sized bed as one of its amenities, you will instead receive what is by US standards a double bed! We were very disappointed by this clear bait and switch by the hotel. The staff were courteous and clarified that all ‘Queen Superior’ rooms feature a double bed. After a bit of back and forth they found us an upgrade to a king room we had to pay additionally for, which is nice. Very disappointed by not initially being delivered the advertised room.

To be clear, I didn't stay at the hotel. My friends and I had reservations to celebrate my birthday. We arrived about 15 minutes late and was told we missed our reservation. We were apologetic and then requested a table. After a couple of minutes the manager came over and said that if we wanted a table we would have to pay $500 for a bottle. Upon our hesitation she then said since it's quite (which it was) she would give us a table with the purchase of a bottle of champagne for $185. We agree and were promptly seat. Once seat I observed that the other tables were main drinking cocktails and beer. I did not notice any bottle service. So we decided against staying and told them we changed our minds. I felt we were unfairly being taken advantage of and was not comfortable with how the situation played out.

Stayed here for a magical date night. The room was awesome. We even had an outdoor patio . Had dinner at the champagne and caviar bar. The location is amazing for shopping checking out electric car dealerships and people and car watching

First off we had an amazing suite- gorgeous view, layout, clean room and room service was A+. The reservations team were fabulous in helping us with our room reservation. The rooftop pool was cute but it needs a little remodeling and the pool menu was overpriced for what was being offered. For our mini rooftop wedding- the requested seating for our nuptials was not prepared so my wedding guests had to help the waiters. The head waiter was extremely rude during the entire event when his fellow colleagues were not (they were actually really helpful and polite). This waiter literally had an attitude with most of my guests, grabbing our plates with an attitude that even my Italian in-laws were talking about his demeanor. I won’t say his name but he also failed to present our wedding cake before being cut. Prior to, he insisted “it’d be easier if his staff would cut it”- not myself and my husband so unfortunately we agreed. Regardless, we tried to make the best of the situation but the next morning also proved to be problematic. Five of us decided to have lunch at C&C but there was a 30 minute wait for two of our meals which also arrived cold. The manager of C&C was understanding and gave us complimentary shots of vodka but we ended up eating lunch again elsewhere. After informing Catering and Events of our troubles we were met with silence for 2 months then inquired again multiple times to only be offered a discount for Food and Beverage if we made reservations with them.. We were told that it was simply a communication error. It’s safe to say rooming with Gansevoort is fine but I’d be weary of hosting a special event. We cannot get this moment back ever and being the only party (less than 20ppl, well mannered) with four waiters— the errors that occurred that Sunday could’ve been avoided! For the hospitality that was presented to us from the lobby receptionists, Gabriella, Robin and everyone else who tried to make our day a pleasant one, we’d give 3.5 stars if we could.

Very expensive and a very subpar experience. You cannot adjust the thermostat in the rooms, instead of owning it as a problem they try to get the “engineer” to fix it. Obviously, there was no solution. They handled the problem as if you were staying at the courtyard. Room service closes at 12. The saving grace was the heated roof top pool and the location.

Great location, family friendly hotel. Came here with 2 kids and they loved the rooftop pool. Made use of all the amenities, including grabbing a drink at the Chester, drinking at the rooftop bar, used the gym, and borrowed umbrellas when it rained. So many fantastic restaurants and shops nearby, including Chelsea Market. Took an evening stroll to the Little Island Park with our kids. Would definitely come back and recommend to families.

The Gansevoort is conveniently located near the main NYC Google offices. Walkable to the Chelsea Market and other fun spots. The hotel has the standard amenities and is definitely a step up compared to some of the hotels in the area but also not luxurious. The doorman and front desk staff are always kind & informative & I like the rooms that look out onto the street. Typically very clean & fairly quiet - ask for a room away from the elevator! Their top floor lounge and sushi restaurant have incredible views & are at times booked out for events. But if you can grab a drink on the top floor, it’s well with it!

Great location, awesome rooms for an nyc hotel. They are redoing the gym and spa so when that’s done this is nothing short of 5 star experience. They were so accommodating about the dogs and even let them hang out at (not in) the pool!

  • 3/5 Raj S. 4 months ago on Google
You can’t use the exercise bikes in the gym without a pelaton subscription and you can’t use the fancy mirror in your room without a lululemon subscription. This is moronic. Don’t have “amenities” that your guests need separate subscriptions to use. It’s stupid. Better to just have normal equipment that anyone staying there can use.

Nice hotel! Liked that the rooom had blow dry and straightener! Room was basic but very clean. A/C didn’t go down very much but they came to try to improve it and then brought me a Dyson fan when it didn’t improve much. The best part is their daytime bellman, Gem! The sweetest guy who made the stay great!

Very nice hotel. Staff very nice. One point of mention - there is no coffee machine in the room and no complimentary coffee in the lobby. You can get an $8 ish cup of coffee to go from the restaurant off the lobby (wife says it wasn't very good).

We stayed in one of the Terrace King rooms and it was a lovely room. The staff were super nice (the cleaning staff in particular were extra lovely). However, the terrace door doesn't have a door knob on the outside, and no screen door. So if you want to enjoy the terrace (that you've paid a substantial amount to have access to), you have to leave the dang exterior door open. Which we did, and that quickly lead to mosquitos in our room. You know that infernal buzzing sound that wakes you from a dead sleep when a mosquito is near your ear? Yeah we had that for about seven hours of constantly interrupted sleep. Woke up with multiple mosquito bites each. Didn't use the terrace for the rest of the weekend because of it.

Absolutely amazing stay at this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and it felt like home. The customer service was excellent. Beds very comfy. Room always clean and plenty of water to drink. Will stay again.

Everything went wrong in what used to be an amazing hotel. I can’t believe how downhill this hotel has gone. The women at the front desk are rude, the staff changes constantly, so you never know who will be there when you arrive. We spent several days here recently with some friends and we had various problems. It’s not clean. There are stains on the floors. You can hear everything in the halls. The bathrooms are very early 2000s meat packing chic but dirty now. We didn’t feel very safe here. We felt like we had paid for 4stars and gotten a cheap 2 star hotel with some repairs here and there just barely holding the place up. The rooftop pool is disgusting and needs and update. The welcome at the rooftop bar was excellent though the food brought to us was cold. I’d really like to turn this hotel back 10 years. It was great then. Very disappointed. Good location, so two stars and nice welcome at the rooftop bar.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was for her birthday and we had an amazing time! The hotel was incredible and the service was excellent! Everyone was very welcoming and attentive upon our arrival. Highly recommend this hotel, and the location was perfect, as it's in the center of the meatpacking district in NYC.

It was ok. Great location but despite repeated requests they did not repair the “mirror” exercise equipment they proudly advertised for each room. Also, the thermostat did not work, resulting in a few cool nights and days in the room. This hotel used to be fantastic but needs lots of upkeep and newer amenities.

The rooftop views are nice but service is terrible. Ordering a drink at the pool can take over an hour on a non crowded day, don’t even bother on a weekend. Bar tender is very rude. WiFi doesn’t work. Ordering a coffee downstairs can be a pain when they’re busy.

A fun and vibrant west side area filled with restaurants and boutique shopping, that has long forgotten the harsh and pungent reality of meat processing that used to happen on those same cobbled streets. Meat hooks and conveyor systems once filled with sides of beef and pork, now hang festooned with haute couture... On a sultry August day, the humidity sometimes brings up out of the cobbled roads a faint memory of that distinct malodorous quality of old meat. Other than that, it's a fine area.

I've been coming to the Gansevoort for years. It used to have a much more open and fun vibe upstairs on the rooftop, now they have stuffed in a sushi bar instead. The pool is notoriously small and nobody can get a chair. The doormen stand around the door and stare at it but don't open it for you most of the time ( not the shortish, dark-haired guy who's great, or the tall African American who was also great). There was a bellman standing in the lobby who didn't help us with our bags rather watched us trying to struggle in the door without a doorman to help. The room service menu is uninspired. The rooms are quite small. Very few have a balcony which is also tiny. The location is great, but overall staff don't seem to care too much about the guests. Oh and terribly expensive at the moment, I believe the cheapest room was going for about $700 a night and it's small.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff was incredibly helpful, everything was clean. My only complaint was that the AC wouldn't turn down cooler than 75°, so it was too hot for me. However, I called and they offered to have someone look at it. It was 4am, so I requested a fan instead. They quickly accommodated the request, and I was easily able to get back to enjoying all of the comforts the room has to offer. The area around the hotel was amazing as well. I will definitely be returning for my next NYC trip.

Perfect location with lots of activity nearby. You can walk to lots of great places in Meatpacking, West Village, SOHO, etc. Stayed in Manhattan suite, which was a great size and config for 3 of us. However, room was very warm and never really cooled off enough for my taste (73 in bedroom, 71 in living area). Front desk never explained if it was normal or a malfunction. Restaurants are good and rooftop pool/bar is really cool. Building is not super tall so you do get street noise.

  • 1/5 Ivo I. 2 years ago on Google
The bright lighting on the side of the building for the advertisements made it hard to sleep and I felt very exposed to the buildings across the street with how sheer the curtains are. The hotel looks physically awful. The outside is particularly grimy, with trash and insulation visible in some of the back windows. Would not stay here.

Visited Little Island today with my family. After we decided to grab a bite to eat. We ended up at the Gansevoort restaurant in meatpacking district. We didn’t go inside but the outside setup was nice. This review is strictly for our server Andrea. I applaud the way that she handled all of the tables this afternoon. Apparently after we were seated the restaurant became extremely busy. She was very busy bouncing from table to table but she still managed to check on us multiple times. She was patient and attentive when we pointed out an issue with our bill. She definitely gave a 5 star dining experience. I would go back simply because she was nice and made our restaurant experience enjoyable.

We used to love this hotel! What happened?! From the moment we checked in we had so many disappointments this visit. 1. Our first room we settle into and try to turn on our TV…didn’t work. So we call for the problem and instead leave to enjoy the city. We get back. The TV is now on (yay) but the remote controller won’t change the channels or turn it off. Now we’re trying to go to sleep at this point and just want to turn off the TV so we’re not sleeping with a bright light in our face. We manually turn it off on the screen with help over the phone from the engineering staff. The hotel front desk asks us to call them tomorrow in the morning to have it fixed. Next morning we are on our way out to breakfast, stop by the front desk to remind them of our problem last night! Great they said they will have if taken care of. We come back home and surprise- not fixed. So I call and finally ask to have a room change. The front desk lady said she would call us back. Nope. I had to walk down stairs. Thankfully Raymond was helpful and got us into another room. He was the only person who seemed to help. Thank you Raymond. No coffee in the room, no room service, if you want coffee you have to wait until 8am when their bar/cafe opens and go downstairs to pick it up. We asked for a late check out on Saturday and we’re denied. Just overall felt so deflated after this experience.

We had an incredible stay and the service was absolutely exceptional. The staff at the hotel were all very helpful and thanks to the owner Michael we managed to film an interview on the very top floor. We were all impressed and will most definitely be returning to this outstanding hotel.

Room was adequate but the hotel was unable to provide me with a receipt for my stay, which is essential for business travel. The person I spoke with told me that the system had been down "for weeks," which is astonishing to me on its own but the fact that the response was delivered with an indifferent shrug was unbelievable. How are they operating as a business? Are they not providing receipts for current guests? If they have to manually write out receipts on hotel stationary, they ought to be doing that.
