You don't know this place? You have to be kidding me! Ok, well, this is the best-kept secret in this hood. When I used to live here, I would come to this store to get taramasalata, eggplant spread, feta cheese, octopus, and almost any Mediterranean goodies! This place rocks! Did you know that they supply all the Mediterranean grocery stores in Astoria with their spreads? The food here is always fresh and tasty. Come here. They have a good selection of spices, dates, nuts, and more. Now since I don't live in the neighborhood, I have to commute on the train for an hour to do my grocery shopping.

Too many things. Fortunately the staff knew what they had. I just asked. 11/20/2023 returned to stock up on black beans and steel cut oats. Also got red lentils, taramasalata, pita bread, baklava. Found best way there from Times Square station. Exit at 40th, pass south of Port Authority and you are there. Took a photo of the front door which says they close at 5:45. Google maps says 6:30. Tried to change it. They open at 7:30. Saturday close at 5:30. Sunday closed.

My Father 1st took me there in the mid 1970's when I was a kid. Everything looks just about the same today. Old world charm. A beautiful display of colorful spices right when you come inside. To your right is over a dozen different types of olives for every taste. Towards the back they have the best home made Greek treats. As well as Feta cheese, fish egg spread and octopus. Dried beans & nuts too. The owner & staff that have all worked there for many years could not be any kinder or more helpful. If your. Native New Yorker or a visitor this place is a great place for very high quality Greek foods with fair & reasonable prices. I love it!!!

I was pleasantly surprised waiting for my hotel room across from the Port Authority bus terminal on West 40th to stumble upon this delightful store. I was amazed by the imported spices in open barrels, including lava-red Hungarian paprika and wildly-hued Indian spices. The Greek baklava, spanikopita, halvah, yogurt, assorted olives and feta cheese looked wonderful. They also sold honey, pastas, pitas and a limited array of cooking utensils and metal pans. Products strung from aged wooden rafters overhead brought to mind Mediterranean bazaars. I found out my friend Barb has bought feta cheese here for years - she said it is the best in NYC!

This market is a New York City gem. I get the good stuff from Greece there like olive oil, feta and soap! The soap is pure and made of olive oil. I don't want to use anything else now. The service is incredible too. The guys that work there always have a smile on their face and take pride in their work. They seem truly happy to help their customers.

The only place i can find Turkish pistachios. Great olive selection. I love the Castelvetrano olives (i think that's the name). 9th Avenue used to have quite a few shops like this. I miss that NY.

Great store, I get all my spices here. They even explain how to store them for long use. Staff are always friendly and willing to assist. I never feel rushed nor have they gotten inpatient when you are asking questions.

Wonderful little grocery, best for bulk dried goods and some Mediterranean shelf items. House made treats like baklava and spinach pie are good! Love their feta, as well.

I so wish they shipped! The best price on vanilla beans, dried vegetables mix, and olive oil soap I have found. Since we were traveling I could not buy as much as I wanted however the dried veg mix smelled so wonderful I had to have a couple of pounds. I made soup with it as soon as I got home. It is so good!! I want more.

I love this place so much. This store is the heart of our neighborhood. The guys that work there really make the shop what its. They truly care about you. They will remember your name and what you order. I always get some fresh oats, grains, and nuts. My kids love the cheese and candy. You must add this to your places to shop in NYC.

This old school market is a great place to buy bulk spices and anything Greek that comes in a jar or can, but the real stars are the bulk yogurt and homemade spreads including the best taramasalata in the city.

This store has been there many years and has many interesting, tasty and expensive goodies. The other day I bought a soup mix I get often but when I got it home and put it in a plastic container, moths appeared and hatched the next day. Disgusting! Also, even though we have been going there for years, if you have one peppercorn over weight they will take it out. So much for loyalty.

I’m Greek .. and I have been to plenty of Greek stores and I never seen the spices open like that .. that’s a big no no !! Limited Greek items and mostly old ! Wish it had more variety and items .. maybe it would have more people coming and buying stuff
