This place is beautiful but the food is not good. We came for the 2nd time, mainly for the view and tried the salmon, corn soup, salad and the burger. All were very bland and not impressive. If you want to go for the experience, I'd recommend going for a drink and lite meal or just the burger and fries if you decide to go. Otherwise, if you want good food, I'd recommend a million other places in the area

I have been to Tavern on the green a few times and every time that I've been, it's always the same: terrible service. I came back because the place is inside Central Park and I like the atmosphere, but the last time I went there was very embarrassing for me and my husband. SHAMEFUL SERVICE I have a service dog (which is not emotional) that is with me most of the times. To my surprise, the manager not only asked me what kind of services the dog preforms, he also made me go into detail about my health status and explain it out loud in front of the hostess and three other employees. I felt like the clown in front of a circus. I've eaten in fancy restaurants, stayed in five-star hotels, flown with my dog and this has never happened to me before. We were hungry and we ended up sitting at a table. The waitress did not come to the table, we walked to the bar to place the order... Also paying a tip where self-service is done. Unfortunately I don't remember the manager's name, but is a guy with many tattoos around his neck, skinny and with painted nails. Another time that I went with my family we needed a candle to sing happy birthday. After begging for a candle, they said they didn't have one. What restaurant doesn’t have a candle? FOOD The quality of the food is nothing to be impressed with. Basic American food. Onion soup is good. The service takes forever to give you the menu, take the order and serve the food. Pathetic place and service. If you read the rest of my reviews, I am always honest and this is the first review with the lowest rate.

We planned our lunch a few months in advance so we were able to get a table without any issues. It was a bit of a cold day but the way they are setup with a glass patio we basically felt like we were outdoors even though we were indoors. We ordered the special of the day - basically a shrimp salad and I ordered the fish and chips. My daughter ordered the peas and pasta dish and my younger daughter got chicken fingers. Everyone was happy with their meals - but we all agreed that the second best thing on the table were the fries from my fish and chips :) For dessert we ordered the Warm Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake and the special of the day which was a pistachio dessert that was wonderful. Overall - this is a wonderful place for a lunch while in Central Park on your trip to NYC!

This place is really nice. A lot seating indoor and outdoor available. The food and service is is great. We had the cod and ravioli and both were delicious. They also offer a lot of nice cocktails, wine and beer options . When we went they also had live music.

Lovely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food is very fancy (and a little expensive). Our waiter Nikolai did a great job and was more than accommodating. The only downer was the early close of the outdoor area (which I can understand as it was a little cold), because it becomes really beautiful in the dark with the beautiful lightings.

We were fortunate enough to experience a 60-degree day mid-December, so we enjoyed a glass of wine outside in the patio area. It was very busy but once we caught the bartender's attention, the afternoon flowed perfectly. The views from both the tavern and on our walk-through Central Park to the tavern was quintessential NYC! Tavern on the Green is a perfect place to stop, relax, recharge, and move on to what's next to explore in this magnificent city.

Tavern is the perfect NYC spot to bring in Christmas cheer and enjoy festivities with near and dear ones. With live music playing in the evenings and elderly couples dancing, this place is guaranteed to give you the warm fuzzy holiday feeling. Also, get a picture with the wonderful Christmas trees around the restaurant. The food is great, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is perfect. Highly recommend!

No surprise this was a 5 star experience. We loved the ambiance and the food - service was great! Would recommend making reservations well in advanced to get your desired date/time. Make sure to visit the perfectly curated gift shop on your way out.

We had an excellent experience. Our server Tony was incredible. Very personable, patient, and attentive. The atmosphere was delightful, living up to its iconic reputation. And the food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the candied bacon appetizer and the steak and eggs entree.

This is a New York City Iconic Landmark that everyone should try at least once. Outdoor dining is preferred as long as the weather allows it. The food is good. Our server Noah was amazing as were all the other staff members. You would think that this place would be incredibly expensive, but it was actually reasonable for a NYC Restaurant. Credit cards are accepted. Clean facilities. We will definitely be going back.

Sensational!!! Matthew the manager and Matthew the server were A+. They made sure my 6-year old daughter had a fabulous birthday here. Food was all outstanding, served in a gorgeous setting. The building has a lot of history. Erica at the gift shop was very knowledgeable and pointed out fun history facts around the restaurant. Fascinated by all the sheep incorporated into the decor as this used to be a sheep house. Must visit if you're in NYC!

This is my all time favorite restaurant in NYC that I’ve been going to for 15+ years. Wonderful food, perfect service, and memorable views always. And Thank You Clemens!! For this celebratory occasion, Clemens made our evening by surprising my brother with a slice of “Congratulatory” cake. Thank you Clemens. Your service is always amazing. And thank you Chef and staff. Keep up the great work!

Tawdry and tacky no more! The iconic and revamped Tavern on the Green is well worth a New York minute with exceptional food, service and cocktails! You cannot beat the location in Central Park - nor the beautiful setting. Thanks to Nikolai for making our dining experience extraordinary! We will definitely be back (from Williamsburg, Brooklyn)

What a gorgeous treat! Come at the holidays to see the beautiful lights and trees in every room. Love jazz music was a great addition in the bar area. Our service was wonderful, prompt, and very accommodating. The food was very delicious. This was a very expensive choice but with it for a classic new york experience.

If you’re looking for a perfect brunch spot in NYC, this is it. Take a walk through Central Park and make a day out of it. Guest note: they are often booked up for walk ups so be sure to make your reservation online via Open Table. If you do make it online, you’ll need to put down a credit card. If it’s a nice day, I’d suggest requesting an outdoor table. I’m not sure if it’s just on the weekend but they play live jazz outside. A wonderful ambience for brunch. The staff here are professional and know the menu front and back. Two thumbs up!

It was absolutely lovely. Our appetizers were the Hickory salad and the crab cake. Our entrees were the beef bourguignon, the lamb and the cod. Of the three, choose the cod. They do a clam chowder pour over that is amazing. The lamb was also exceptional. Dessert was a cheesecake and a piece of birthday cake. I would suggest the birthday cake. The frosting is very different than what it I thought it would be. It was light and absolutely perfect. The staff we’re all very nice and sometimes I had a hard time understanding what my server was saying because of his heavy accent but I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting New York.

Visited NYC for a birthday celebration and swung by Tavern On The Green for a Sunday brunch. The experience overall was excellent. Service was good, but a little slow. The seated us way in the back, essentially outside the main restaurant. Likely because we were 30 mins early for our reservation. The food was good, but not great. You really go for the experience as opposed to looking for an exceptional dining experience. My favorite thing was probably the biscuits and gravy!

This place is beautiful, entertaining, and great service. Wine was good, cocktails very nice (had the Queens cocktail), but some of the food was underwhelming. Chicken was well presented but lacked flavor. Thankfully it was not our server’s suggestion. She was right to not even mention it when we asked for suggestions lol Needs a brine or some other seasoning. Scallops were good, and I didn’t try the fish but the person who got it on our table finished it. Dessert was actually pretty good. We had to leave right after eating because we had a event to attend but wished we stayed longer.

A very elegant restaurant as seen in many movies, shows, and in-person of course! Excellent staff, aesthetic, and beautifully crafted cuisine by the top chefs. We did the Christmas Eve Prix-Fixe ($135 pp - roughly $400 after everything for two) and loved every moment! It’s perfect for family, friends, and a date! Located just steps away from Columbus circle and within the heart of Central Park. It’s a place you’ll love to return to in any season!

We took our team manager out for a fabulous birthday lunch here today… And all the food was delicious and the staff was so nice. The atmosphere is really festive and bright. The renovations are beautiful and I love the open kitchen. We really loved the lobster mac & cheese, fish and chips, and salmon burger. The birthday cake was delicious with cream cheese frosting. We highly recommend tavern on the green for a celebratory meal with the people you care about.

What a great evening! We were celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. This was our third visit to New York but our first time dining at Tavern on the Green and we will definitely be back. Our server was so friendly and efficient! The food was amazing and the birthday cake for desert was delicious. Beautiful restaurant with such a great atmosphere. I can't wait to go back on our next visit to NYC.

We have eaten at Tavern on the Green a number of times over the years, mostly at the outdoor patio section of the restaurant. Today, I met someone indoors and had a fantastic experience at the bar area. On a separate note, what this place looked like 10 years ago versus today is amazing. The new ownership group did a fantastic job turning this special establishment into something magnificent. While Tavern on the Green is mostly for tourists, I still like popping by every once in a while, especially if the weather is nice outside.

Love it! A place with lots of history and great food. We made a reservation last minute, if you’re not able to reserve using third parties call them directly, the staff is friendly and always willing to help you get a piece of their history. The food is very affordable and great portions you can share. I highly recommend making this place a must visit as part of your NYC experience. (😉 Ask them for their tomahawk for two special, is not in the menu)

The ambiance is wonderful for the holiday season and they were punctual with our reservation even though they were very busy. If in NYC I highly recommend going. The lobster mac and cheese had so much lobster in it I thought I just ordered a lobster. It was awesome! I wish they had everything listed on the menu. I saw someone had a giant pretzel in the bar area (not sure where it was listed). Someone else had a burger when we were at our table and I didn't see that on the menu but I enjoyed my ravioli.

Outside bar on a pristine March day. 68 degrees. Always enjoy a walk to this resort-like oasis from our home a few blocks away. Wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly bartenders and staff. Great drinks, wine, beer, flat bread, apps. Especially appreciate that they don't allow dogs. Thank you!!! A perfect birthday afternoon.

Came here for my dads 60th birthday and had a wonderful time. The ambiance was amazing, staff impeccable and food delicious. My parents used to come here over 30 years ago and I thought it would of been great to celebrate my dads birthday here with some great food and to bring back some old memories. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who would like to have a night to remember.

Food is great. The lamb is juicy and tender. Check-in is a bit chaotic during busy days. Have to wait 15 mins or so even with a reservation. The place seems to be slightly understaffed. Our sweaty waiter did his best. Will visit again for the location, ambience, and food.

Every time we dine here it is fantastic and magical. Especially at Christmas. The food is beautiful, flavorful, and just plain great. The atmosphere is very comfortable. We stood in line for about ten minutes in order to be seated for our reservation. Good service and good beer options once at the table, except that our eggs (one runny and one hard for the eggs Benedict) and French toast weren’t hot, so an improved timing would be good. Walking past the kitchen shows that the French toast is pre-made, and simply warmed up and browned when ordered. The high prices should be aligned with a better product.

Restaurant is beautiful and we had the best service during our stay in NYC here. Waiter was very friendly and attentive making sure we were enjoying the experience. Food was incredible, I had the prime rib sandwich with shoestring fries and it was fantastic: meat cooked medium, tender and flavorful with their very nicely cut fries. If I am ever back in town, I’ll make sure to visit them.

A unique and top-notch dining experience. Atmosphere is unrivaled, service superb (shoutout to Molly, with special thanks to Natalie), and cuisine impeccable. Fresh ingredients in innovative and/or classic combinations, thoughtfully prepared. The multiple dining spaces are curated beautifully and with very different (equally enrapturing) personas. We came for weekday lunch at 12:30 and it was a pleasant density, but got much busier around 1:15.

We made lunch reservations at 11 am and we were the first people to enter on a Monday. Beautiful atmosphere full of kind staff. Our server, Keshawna, was one of the best we’ve ever had. From explaining drinks to helping me decide on my entree all the way to bringing my husband a card and cake for his 50th Birthday. She made our experience memorable. We highly recommend making reservations on Open Table. You will love this restaurant with no expense spared; the ambience and the atmosphere are absolutely perfect.

We had a great time at the Tavern - we were sitting outside, sipping Manhattan’s (delicious) and the food was delicious too. We had some oysters (good), Caesar salad for starter (surprisingly delicious) and my medium rare steak was cooked to perfection! We all finished our plates, really enjoyed the music and the place - definitely recommend.

Visited Tavern On the Green during Christmas on the 24th of December. We booked well in advance because we live in Sweden. Easy booking without any problems. All personal are really friendly and service minded, so big plus to all the staff. They manage to create a very good Christmas feeling with decoration and music. The food was a 5 course menu and I would rate the food 3/5. We paid 800$ for 4 guests including drinks and gratitude. Left an extra 20$ as tip and 5$ for the wardrobe. I would say that you pay for the location and the Christmas feeling. The food it self it’s not worth 800$ I’m glad that I visited Tavern On the Green but I think that we’ll try another place next time. Best regards Johan with family 🤗

My friend and I were visiting our daughter and her family who live in Manhattan. When visiting them we always send a lot of time in Central Park which is a fantastic park. Last time we had dinner at the Boast House so it was inevitable we would have to have lunch here. Normally we would have ha dinner but we now had a baby with us so lunch was the ideal solution. We had quite an extensive range of drinks during the meal from cocktails to tea and coffee. We had a couple of starters (crab cake, yoghourt) and mains consisted of three burgers and one avocado & eggs. The desserts, which were delicious, included New York cheesecake and key lime pie. The total cost came to $245.51 excluding tips of which 65.50 was for drinks. A great venue with goo food and drinks and excellent service.

Absolutely amazing experience! Sometimes in New York although beautiful, service can be short and less friendly that what we are used to in Canada but Tavern on the Green felt like a beautiful home away from home in the fanciest way! With a picturesque glass greenhouse style dining room, gorgeous white furniture, and delicious brunch options - I would recommend Tavern on the Green in a heartbeat! Our server Amanda made the experience even more special with her tailored suggestions and she understood and met our dietary needs perfectly! Will be visiting again! Thanks Amanda!

Went in without a reservation and was seated by the bar. To be honest, our first waitress was nice enough and knew the menu, but seemed to not be on top of everything. Then we asked to be moved to another room, and we were blown away. We were seated in their South Room and our server, who I think was named Jacob, had a great sense of humor and service. The signature lamb is a must have and the truffle Mac and cheese could be sold by the pound. Varied dessert selection and great mixed drinks, too. Would definitely come back to be greeted by the Top Hat, the job title of their official doorman!

Beautiful iconic restaurant. We walked in and requested a table in the main dining room for lunch and ten minutes later it was ready! The food was good and service excellent. It was wonderful to be treated well considering we were tourists and dressed casually. This is not one of those snooty pretentious establishments. Tavern On The Green was the icing on the cake of our lovely trip to New York. Will return, thank you.

Go eat here! I loved the food, service, atmosphere, and unique dishes. This is a gem. I've had French toast for brunch numerous times but no other restaurant even compares to this place. Dont skip the appetizers and get the bacon. It was so good my wife was googling how I can make it for her back at home. Our waitress was a bit cold starting out but when prompted offered those recommendations which were spot on, after that she was friendly and attentive. I'm so glad we stopped here without a reservation and made it in. What a great experience and dining moment.

Service started awesome. Smiles and he was on it. However, once food and drink arrived perfect and timely no return for a beer I maybe would of got. Skinny Marg outstanding. Veg Fajitas good. Way to improve - less onion. A lot less onion. Overall happy. And no refill on Salsa that rocked! Oh one more thing, you don't tip on tax so your receipt is incorrect on tip suggestions when you put the percent.

We can’t speak highly enough of Kerry and her team at Tavern. The entire events team were extremely attentive, professional, and helpful throughout our wedding planning process. Our guests were overwhelmed with the level of service and attention to detail. Kerry was the partner of our dreams from day 1, going above and beyond to ensure that our vision for our wedding Reception was executed perfectly. There is no better venue in New York to host an elegant event and we can’t recommend Tavern enthusiastically enough. A special thank you and acknowledgement to Kerry, Ryan, and our Events Captains for making every detail perfect.

We were there last August 2019, for my sweeties birthday. He had never been their, and I wanted his day to be special just like him! So reservations were made, and our experience began. From the friendly young Hostesses at front foyer, to the perfect table, where we were escorted to by none other than the Manager, our extraordinary Server who was knowledgeable, attentive, professional and one of the Best Ever! He never allowed a crumb to linger more than a couple of minutes. The Chefs'provided us with tasty pallet happy food, and the vibe and sunshine in the Atrium made me fall in love all over again with this magnificent place! I hadn't been there in more than 15 years, but boy it was worth the wait! I've been to Europe, the South and up North futher than New York, and my Restaurant Love ? is, and will always be, Tavern On the Green. Keep up the great work!

Attended my friend Stephanie's wedding reception here many years ago..1967 or so! We were neighbors in riverdale the Bronx and attended Walton HS. We cut class one day and saw Natalie Wood filming a riding scene in Central Park! The ambience and food served at the Tavern was exquisite! Left NYC in 1983 ! Pricey, but worth it! Location, Location Location! It was 70* and sunny in March and this was the PERFECT spot for lunch. Loved this building. It is beautifully restored. So yummy. I always get the chicken shawarma plate with salad and fries OR double salad. Sometimes I get a full additional salad and side of hummus just to have extra. Plate comes with salad, rice or fries, pita bread, garlic spread, pickled things, hummus, meat .... great portions and great price. I love getting this for pickup or delivery with (I think) Grubhub. One of my faves. Hard to not get it multiple times a week.

The only thing I don't super like about this restaurant is the restaurant itself isn't super spacious and the servers usually would try to cram as many customers as possible - you may end up sitting at a big table with a bunch of strangers. So, it's not the best dining experience in my opinion. I'd prefer getting takeouts from this place.

The drinks are good and despite it being a popular bar, you won't have to wait long for a drink since the bartenders are attentive and there's a bar cart on the move as well. The pizzas were fresh out of the oven (margarita, sausage, spicy Hawaiian etc) and the service was really above and beyond - you pick it up at the counter of the kitchen but an employee carried the hot pizzas for me to our table, really appreciated that.

The big screen over the bar also shows movies and on this night, Edward Scissorhands was the pick - nice! Classic. Speaking of the bar, it featured a good mix of beer and a couple ciders. Cocktails are not Brewcade's strong suite (hence the name?) but the bartender is very nice and will definitely try to find you something to enjoy (many friends opted for a strawberry cider - too sweet for me, but totally masks the alcohol). They also have a menu printed that is way easier to read than the neon board on the wall - so ask for that.

Outdoor dining was great. I had the risotto and it was really good, maybe spectacular. I've lived in the North bay and this was the first time here, maybe I shouldn't try to avoid Pier 39 so much. Definitely recommend

New Ramen place opening near home. Wanted to like it even if it wasn't as good as Pasadena or South Pasadena. Very happy, It's better. The broth (one tried the tonkatsu , the other tried the shoyu both were great), as was the chashu and the other toppings. Need to return to try some other dishes. Solo and Justin so nice and helpful.

Coming from the beautiful Descanso Gardens, we needed some fuel. Korean fried chicken to the rescue! Got confused at the beginning with seats but Mark helped us out. Food came out promptly and it tasted delicious. Can never go wrong with KFC and beer.

A great place to eat. A fantastic setting, a great atmosphere, superb attentive and friendly staff. Food choices are good. Quality second to none. Its definitely not the cheapest place to eat, but you are in New York's Central Park. What you get is a unique setting, good food and brilliant service. I came here before lock down and can't wait to return.

Nestled into the edge of Central Park. Come to people watch, stay for the cocktails and beer. Not cheap, but worth it for the amazing el fresco vibe and decor in the middle of New York cities best park.

Perfectly proper evening. The service was stellar atmosphere was classy but inviting. The menu could use a dessert without egg. Otherwise there was a great selection of options for people with every diet. I would go back for a cocktail in a heartbeat as it was prepared very well. The Queens cocktail - Bright fresh with a smooth complex finish. Cauliflower steak - the barley was a pleasant addition and the dish was prepared well. Truffle Mac & Cheese - expertly prepared and delightful. Well-balanced, flavorful, perfect. When I go back I’d like to try the creme brûlée and another cocktail. Don’t pass it up if you’re considering it.

This is my first time in Taver on the Green and I really loved it. For appetizers we had a shrimp cocktail and oysters. The shrimps was so tender and juicy. Oyster are so good. And for food I had a fish which was also tender, fresh and juicy. If you order the fish you can ask a lemon like how I did. And the Queens cocktail tests so fresh. Thank you so much Tavern On the Green for delicious food and for beautiful atmosphere!

I loved this restaurant. The ambiance was so chic, so classy. The service was spectacular. Food was amazing, I do not have a single complaint. All of the dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Keep up the good work!

The trout was very tasty, the taste of fried nuts was well passed on to the fish. The risotto is not bad overall but the sauce has disintegrated and oil has come out. I am sure that the chef, like me, knows what the mistake is.

This is a must have stop if your planning a visit to Central Park. It has quite the past and beginnings and they have done a really nice job maintaining elements from the late 1800s. The patio is stunning and quite large and definitely need a reservation for a nice day. We had a few well done cocktails on our stop visiting the park and it was a perfect selection.

Interesting place, you’ll want to sit outside as the location is the big attraction here. The courtyard is a great place to people watch and relax. Food was terrific too and helpful service by hostess, seating. We had two backpacks full and needed a booth rather than a table - no problem!

Very friendly staff and the atmosphere is very rustic with a good relaxing sound track of jazz and blues playing in the background. Food was delicious, except for the fact that the portions are very small for the main entree- you have to pay an additional 15 to 20 for sides (which are a very generous portion). Other than that quirk, the drinks are priced right and made very well.

Came to the TOG to have a romantic first time as a married couple kind of dinner. This place was amazing. The manager stopped by to see how things were going and to fix our wobbly table. I didn't even notice the table had a wobble. The food was nice and the decor was a delight for the eyes. Loved the dessert.

Lovely waiters and very orderly seating experience. Made my wife feel really happy on her birthday! The food was delicious and it was nice to have an alcohol free IPA available to go along with my steak sandwich.

We went there to check out their NY restaurant week menu and we are so happy that we picked this place. The food was good enough to make me wanna go back for their regular menu. Service was very attentive. The best part for us was their very romantic outside seating area. I would definitely go back.

This is one of the restaurants people would call, overrated. A famous location, a fantastic building, decorations and staff. But other than that, not much to show for. Among a group of 3, we had ordered 2 grilled chicken salads, and a chicken schnitzel. The chicken salads were dry, severely undressed, and thus without much taste. The chicken itself was somehow chewy, and rather bland, like it had not been marinated properly. The schnitzel was served without lemon, was dry and unseasoned prior to frying. The side salad was just, rabbit food, if there was any honey mustard, there was far too little of it. Personally I rate restaurants mostly based on food, though the staff has been a true pleasure to be around. Quick, witty and elegant with breaking customer-server bounds, I had truly enjoyed their company. My kind regards to Cameron, who had been a fantastic server. I hope the Tavern reevaluates their menu.

My husband ordered the rack of lamb and I got the short ribs. We went for an anniversary trip and it was such a memorable experience. The waiter gave us some great recommendations for drinks and desserts. The dining experience is exceptional eating there. Dessert though is incredible 😋

I attended a private event at Tavern this weekend. Per the event menu, the food options were limited but great. The atmosphere was inviting, fun, upbeat and scenic - it's a beautiful outdoor/indoor gem tucked away in the Park. The service was exceptional, all staff members were friendly, professional and accommodating!!! I highly recommend it!

It's a beautiful place in Central Park. I am sure you have seen and heard of it in movies. They were busy, even though it is a large place with indoor and outdoor seating available. I sat at the outdoor bar, it is really tight, and the barstools are very high. I had the baby blt salad, and it was really good. I also had the watermelon cooler cocktail, which was also very tasty.

Food was good, little vegan options, bread had dairy. The meal was very filling, was delicious, but I'm sure something can be done to improve the vegan offer (bread, desserts...). The atmosphere is extremely nice, especially towards the evening, the service is impeccable, the guys really are professional. It's perfect for any occasion! Recommended.

Nice atmosphere and good place to grab lunch. Service was quick. Food was filling! Love that there’s a large outdoor area to eat. Cherry Hill mock tail and sweet potatoes fries were great! Salmon burger nice and moist.
