If you’re in search a classic American steakhouse, Gallagher’s is a solid pick. First time coming here on a Sunday night for a celebratory birthday dinner and was greeted by a pleasant and welcoming host. We were brought to the dining room that was bustling with diners indulging in food and conversation. The restaurant has a very old-school New York feel; with dim lights, walls adorned with framed photos of iconic celebs, and red leather bounded booths and chairs. My family and I were seated in a booth that was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to spread our elbows. The menu has a lot to offer but we ordered a good variety for a “complete” meal. Our picks included the French onion soup, baked clams casino, the wedge salad, the porterhouse, a side of mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was cooked to perfection but my favorites had to be the French onion soup, baked clams (*chef’s kiss), and surprisingly, the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes did not include gravy if you’re wondering, but it really didn’t need anything additional. With all that food, we had a bit of room for dessert. How could one pass up creme brûlée? I’m so glad I never say no to dessert because it was heavenly. Sometimes it’s the food that makes the dining experience, but the service here was amazing as well. Our waiter went above and beyond to make our dining experience a memorable one, and checked in often to see if everything was to our liking. It was my first time dining at Gallagher’s, but it most certainly won’t be the last. *Be sure to make reservations.

Absolutely delicious food and atmosphere at this old school style steakhouse. It’s so warm and inviting. The bar area is beautiful, would love to sit here next time. My husband and I were seated in a cozy table in the main dining room- loved it! The service was great. Cocktails excellent. For food, we ordered the porterhouse for two, creamed spinach, and Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious!! We got a chocolate layer cake to go. Gallagher’s may be my favorite steakhouse in NYC- loved it.

We made reservations for Monday night before a show. It was very busy so we were glad to have a reservation. We were met at the door with friendly faces and an enormous meet locker. What a nice start to a wonderful meal. Even though the staff was very busy and moving very quickly, they still managed to be very attentive, efficient and make us feel like family. It definitely has an old school steakhouse feeling with old school service. We arrived early and sat at the bar for some drinks before our reservation. The cocktails were unique and very tasty. We were taken to our table right on time and sat near the kitchen. Usually I would not want to be near the kitchen but in this case it was entertaining to see the magic in making our steaks. We went all out during our meal and had two appetizers, two side dishes, shared a porterhouse and a bottle of wine. This meal was about $500. The food was really good but not the best ever; however, combined with great service and the cool old school feeling, I’m giving it the five star rating. I will say, the wine selection was varied and unique and had a variety of price points. I’m glad we chose this place and would return.

4.5/5. Very good steakhouse! The service was great and the food was very good. The Porterhouse is at par with all the other top steakhouses in NY, like Peter Luger etc. You can see the steaks being cooked from some seats. The fried calamari, creamed spinach, porterhouse, and dim sum are good. The fries and macaroni are decent, nothing special. The cheese cake and key lime pie were also pretty good but for $12 a slice not that good. The waiters were fast and very friendly. The only cons were it gets pretty loud and rowdy and many of the tables and seats are packed tightly together.

TLDR: Can't get any more "NY Steakhouse" than this. Have been dining there for years and it never gets tired. Amazing atmosphere (classic, old school) with very good meat, tasty apps, sides and a courteous service. Simple as that! Easy recommendation for whoever wants the classic experience. To top it off the prices are very reasonable, it's what you would expect to pay for high end steak in NYC and not those "hyped" exaggerated places full of "theatrics" and "celebrities". The seafood platter that couldn't be fresher. The aged Porterhouse was flavorful and cooked to perfect rare as requested. A big plus: the side dishes are larger compared to other steakhouses. It's highly recommended to get a reservation in advance because they are always packed and even on a Saturday night they had enough staff to have service run smoothly. If I might nitpick and add something, the desert menu is a little underwhelming.

Our dining experience here was absolutely wonderful!!! We were in town to see the Eagles concert at MSG and decided to try a different steakhouse instead of our usual. We weren’t disappointed trying somewhere new. HIGHLY recommend making reservations or you’ll be out of luck trying to get in. The Host was professional and courteous. Seated us accordingly to our reservation. Walking through was an experience of all the wonderful memories this restaurant had. Beautifully decorated with pictures of the past and richly colored with old world charm. The bar room was centered well to accommodate more guests. Our dining table was towards the back where we had a nice view of the open concept kitchen. The booth was very comfortable. Seating seemed to be a bit crowded during peak dinner hours. We had a lot of room at 4:30pm when we arrived. At 5pm is when more guests started arriving and we had guests fill up all along the wrapped booth. It was enough to eat comfortably but to close to get out from the booth comfortably with disturbing the table. Staff was also absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable of their menu. Menu had quite a bit of deliciousness to chose from. Prices were very reasonable for this upscale steakhouse. Drink menu had a great selection of wine, champagne, cocktails and beers. Also reasonable prices. Service was on par for timing of drinks, appetizers to entrees. Did not order dessert since we’re not dessert people. Since the restaurant became busier, our waiter was a bit slower to getting our check. We were on a tight schedule to get to the concert so we had to flag our waiter to move things along. It’s understandable not a big deal. Ambiance was so relaxing and quiet soothing despite the hustle of a busy kitchen. Overall, we had such an exquisite meal and wonderful conversations about this place. Love it!!! Thank you Gallaghers.

It's not just a steakhouse, but a complete experience that you can't miss if you're in Manhattan! The restaurant is located on 52nd Street and reservations are required. As you enter you will be impressed by the large room on your right where they store the steaks. On your left you find the cloakroom to leave your coat or your bags. You will wait a while until someone places you at your table and get ready for the ultimate experience! The menu is simple, with few but high quality options. We were impressed with the porterhouse, hash browns and the Rose Montorose wine. When our order came, we loved that it was served on our plates. The only thing we didn't like was that they didn't accept payments via Apple Pay. Total cost $300 for 2 people.

Our visit to Gallagher's Steak House yesterday during the Christmas season was nothing short of extraordinary. My wife and I were treated to an amazing culinary experience that exceeded our expectations. The festive ambiance added a special touch to the evening, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere. The true star of the night was undoubtedly the steak – a culinary masterpiece that showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, it was a delight for the taste buds. The attentive and friendly staff contributed to the overall positive impression, ensuring our dining experience was memorable. Gallagher's Steak House has proven itself as a top-notch establishment, delivering not only exceptional food but also a welcoming environment perfect for festive occasions. We left with satisfied palates and hearts full of holiday cheer, making it a dining experience we won't soon forget. Highly recommended for those seeking a memorable steakhouse experience, especially during the festive season.

We'd been to Keens a couple of nights before and it was so good we wanted to have another steak experience to treat ourselves for our last night in New York. The service is outstanding at Gallagher's - the best in the city. We ordered the Rib Eye, Mac & Cheese, Fries and Sauteed Mushrooms. Pecan pie for dessert. To be honest the food overall is not as tasty as Keens but it's still an overall enjoyable dining experience.

Rated as one of the best steakhouse of NYC and after being there can say that. Food, the ambiance and the service is really superb. The meat is juicy, people are friendly and portion size are big. Chocolate cake is average. The place is buzzing with people so do book and highly recommend for steak house

It's some of the best steak in the world. There is a reason this is a world famous Steakhouse, because they deliver on the hype. It was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had. As you enter you walk by the dry aging room, where you can see all of the steaks waiting to age. That alone is an impressive sight. And while it's not exactly cheap (menu pictures are from 2019), the prices are very reasonable for a steakhouse of this quality anywhere, let alone in the heart of Manhattan. If you get a chance, go.

The restaurant looks nice and cozy. But the services and quality is terrible, especially when you take the price into the consideration. I would suggest you look other way once you see this review, please save yourself from the trouble. Let’s start with the service. I was looking for a fine dining experience when average cost is $100+ per person. Instead, we got extremely rude servers. They didn’t handle the dishes and culinary gently, it was like they just throwing things on our table. One server did actually throw the steak knife to my hand, luckily I didn’t roll my sleeve so I didn’t get hurt. But he didn’t even say sorry or anything. About the food, they are terrible in term of quality. The included baguette is hard and cold, it was like we were eating rocks. We order Clam chowder and it the worst I ever had in my life, not even at the “farmer market” level of quality. The key point of the meal, steaks, was warm, not hot. And the plate was not hot either, so only after 3 minutes of getting the steaks, they started to get cold. In the end, we couldn’t finish the steaks even though the price is in the range of 80-90 pre-tax. In conclusion, it is the worst experience I had in NYC, and steaks is worst than “The Keg”, and services was terrible.

I was in New York City today and was told Gallagher Steakhouses had the best steak in Manhattan so I decided to give it a try and that might have been the best decision I ever made. When you first walk in it has a vintage but classy comfortable vibe to it, the bartender who was amazing Erin was a big help in what I ended getting. The lintel soup was great not to filling but very flavorful exactly what you would want. The filet was absolutely divine, melted right in my mouth and cut like butter, the aroma was excellent with each bite it was an explosion of unique flavor. That might have been the best steak I ever consumed. The cheesecake was delicious it was a great treat to end my lunch, it was fluffy yet somehow filling, couldn’t have enjoyed my stay more!!

We ordered special lunch courses - upgraded to fillet mignon and lamb chop. The lamb chop was tender, and the mint sauce was great. Fillet Mignon was great as well. Their signature sauce was a bit weird to me the first time (tasted like tomato soup), but it was somewhat addictive! Oh, their appetizers were great as well. The Caesar salad was seasoned perfectly, and the soup was delicious. The key lime pie was also refreshing (liked it better than the NY cheesecake). Considering the price, portion, and taste, I recommend this place! I would visit again if I com back to Manhattan.

Epic porterhouse steak! This place might be the epitome of a NYC steakhouse. The dining room is old school and classy, so is the service. I really dig the vibes here. Starters were nice, such as the shrimp cocktail I had. But the true star of the show was the porterhouse for two. A massive cut of dry aged prime beef, masterfully grilled to a spot on medium rare with a perfect crust 🤤

We opted for two lunch specials, upgrading to fillet mignon and lamb chops. Both meats were tender and incredibly flavorful. I personally enjoyed the mint sauce with the lamb, although my boyfriend didn't share the same sentiment. Having visited Peter Luger and Wolfgang Steakhouse, I found a higher level of satisfaction at this establishment. I want to revisit here for other cuisines in the future.

Went to Gallaghers for a late lunch. It was everything a great steakhouse should be. It was very easy to make a reservation on Open Table. The service was world class, and I mean every single person. The food was beyond excellent. The beef soup was absolutely delicious, with a hint of red wine. I had the 10oz filet and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the lamb chops, also perfect. An added plus is that the bar stocked Sailor Jerry's rum. Not every place has it, so extra points for that. A nice healthy pour was also given. World class service and cuisine.

Wow! If in New York then this restaurant is a must. Firstly the food is amazing and they give a set menu for $30 and you won't be disappointed. We did spend a lot more but we did have good wine and cocktails. The steak was the best I have ever had ( and I tried a lot) perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the asparagus soup which I had never had before and it was delicious. The breads assorted were amazing too. I had steak of course for mains then the new york cheesecake also very good. The service was excellent we were seated in a corner which we loved as we could see everything. We felt truly spoiled and blessed with the service we had. The place itself is wow, firstly you walk past the window fridges with all the meats and are met with a very pleasant team to take you to your seat, strongly advise to book first as you would hate to not go as they are very busy. You pass the cocktail lounge to then be seated. The view to see all in the kitchen is amazing. The decor is beautiful, even the toilets with the special touch of cloths to dry your hands on. As I said a must go to , you will not be disappointed.

I have to say, I am so impressed by this restaurant. We arrived a bit early (party of four) but it was no problem at all. We were greeted at the door by a helpful man, who checked us in then quickly shown to our table which was a booth. We were then greeted by our waiter who was first class, very witty, knowledgeable and friendly. He had a very confident manner and I knew right from that point we were going to be well looked after. I didn't catch his name but you will know if he serves you, the guy with the glasses and came across very professional and courteous. He knew everything about everything and said if we can't find what we want he will be able to help us, just ask. The drinks came in no time at all and were delicious. I had been recommended the surf and turf by the waiter which was a fillet mignon and lobster for 79 dollars. Its officially the best meal I have ever had. We also ordered lots of sides and they were all superb. The bill came to 450 dollars all in and it was worth every penny. I will be telling anybody I know who's heading to New York to head to Gallaghers from now on. Thanks for a fantastic evening we will be back.

This is one of the best steaks I have eaten. If not the best. This legendary steakhouse still has its own unique decor. With their dark, rich wooden colors and 50's style charm. The service was great from the young lady who sat us down to the bartenders and waiters. Not to mention, the steaks were amazing. There are plenty of delicious sides to choose from. My favorites are the Pecan and Keylime pie . Perfect situated in Midtown Manhattan. We had a great experience. Will be back soon.

We received absolutely wonderful service and enjoyed spectacular food. Our server was very kind and checked in on us on a frequent enough basis. The food tasted wonderful. We ordered a steak for two medium and one medium well, both cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese tasted wonderful, the calamari crunchy and tasted fresh, the cream spinach more on the spinach side, and the deserts were absolutely divine. After a day at work, getting to enjoy such spectacular food was an absolute treat.

The meats were amazing. Highly recommend the Porterhouse, we were 4x adults but didn’t even finish the Porterhouse for 3x people. French onion soup with the crouton beneath the cheese was a great starter. Worth every penny and the service stands its reputation.

My favourite restaurant in the whole world!!! The setting is a typical old style New York steakhouse and the ambience is just fantastic. You cannot order a bad steak here and every time I have been it is cooked Tom perfection. The choice is great and the side dishes are plentiful and absolutely wonderful. You have to finish your meal off with a whiskey old fashioned! Back here in four weeks with the family this time when we are all coming over from the UK and I cannot wait to bring them here.

Gallagher's Steakhouse in NYC is a paradise for steak lovers! The Tomahawk steak is a masterpiece – juicy, perfectly seasoned, and a delight for any carnivore. Add in the seafood medley for a surf-and-turf extravaganza that's truly exceptional. With a classic steakhouse vibe and attentive staff, it's a haven for those who crave top-tier steaks and delectable seafood. It's great to hear that Gallagher's Steakhouse, despite being expensive[ $150/person :) ], offers high-quality food and excellent service, making it a worthwhile choice for special occasions. Celebrating with a memorable dining experience adds to the overall value.

Beautiful! This is the best steakhouse in town! Had the lunch special and it is an absolute steal! The staff are funny and the service is fast. The steak was so tender and the mac and cheese was tasty! The NY Cheesecake had a strong amount of cinnamon but actually worked really well. I wish I visited earlier. I really would eat here everyday!

Go for the food, stay for the atmosphere. Probably on any short list of NY steakhouses for the steaks but should be at the top of the list for the atmosphere, an authentic classic NY ambience. The lighting, decades of portraits on the walls, and the classic bartender and waiters uniforms made for a great experience. The shrimp and lobster dumplings are the most popular app and the lettuce wedge salad is legendary. The porterhouse for two was very large, sliced nicely and had a wonderful crust. They have homemade steak sauce that was nice but not needed. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were filing sides shared between two. The cheesecake is also very NY authentic with a huge filling to crust ratio.

I went for lunch with my friend. The Lunch special is awesome. There are 3-course menus with great prices. Soup was OK. The main dish, which I ordered Sliced Filet Mignon, was delicious and good portions for us. Cheese cake is thick and enough sweet. Key lime pie is refreshing and creamy. Highly recommend this place 👍

Absolutely wonderful! Service was impeccable. Our server was Patrick. He was incredibly attentive without being obtrusive. Managers checked on us multiple times as well to ensure all was well. There was a fair amount of ambient noise as to be expected but not such that we couldn’t easily communicate with each other. The food was beyond incredible. Loved everything we had. Will gladly visit again

The whole experience was amazing! We had the lunch time special menu, which is an absolute bargain. We booked about 4 weeks in advance for a lunchtime slot. The service from arriving to leaving couldn't be faulted. My steak was faultless. I'd definitely recommend dining here, you won't be disappointed!

Was finally able to come To this legendary steak house . Really has its own special vibe . Definitely a sight to see. You will be very happy to eat here . Had the ribeye and filet mignon cooked very well and the sauce was amazing . Dessert was good , pretty standard profiteroles nothing out of the ordinary but definitely hit the spot . The main complaint is we ate here for an anniversary. A restaurant of this caliber normally at least wishes you a happy anniversary and offers a complimentary dessert . So very disappointed in the lack of acknowledgment but I’ll recover . No one can beat Smith and wollensky Las Vegas.

Originally wanted to go to Keens due to less commute from a meeting but they were booked for the night even if we were willing to wait. Gallaghers had similar high ratings and prestige so we went here with very high hopes. Very happy that we were able to get a spot despite not having reservations although we had to sit and wait for about 20-25 minutes. The atmosphere is very bustling and amazing with a nice ambience. Really liked that. Once seated service was actually quite good and the server(a) was very patient with explaining the menu and items, bringing water on time, bringing multiple alternative sauces since I didn’t like some initial ones. Just attentive and good + their Dijon sauce with calamari is amazing. He also did a fantastic job with taking stuff out in boxes as we couldn’t finish. Oh and complimentary starting bread was decent nothing special. The other lady on the other hand was very odd. She started speaking in Chinese or Japanese I don’t even know what because mine isn’t that great I speak almost only primarily English at a comfortable level. I guess she wanted to make us feel comfortable since we were of Asian descent? It was awkward and even other people nearby felt uncomfortable and second hand cringe. I honestly didn’t care as I see the intention was not Ill will but she might not be so lucky with another group of Asian people Tomahawk steak was pretty disappointing. I’m not an expert on steak let alone dry aged steak but all I can say is that it was very chewy/tough and I just didn’t feel like it was very premium-like especially at its massive price point. Tiny parts were a little charred but that wasn’t a big issue at all. All I could think was that my dad at home could cook a tastier steak unironically. The steak sauce kinda saved it but yeah maybe I’m just not a steak person. Fries were fine but that’s not really anything crazy as you can’t really mess that up. Crème brûlée was just ok. It lacked strong flavors just tasted like an average custard. Too mellow and weak and I’m not even a sweets person. The only time I’d be coming back is with my brother to verify if that’s just how expensive and overrated steak is supposed to taste like or if they messed it up for me this time and it’s actually amazing second time around. Feel free to respond if you’re a steak expert based on these pictures if they even cooked it right at a desired medium rare. Overall seriously disappointed as this was my girlfriends first steakhouse and she most likely will be staying away from red meats in general.

Visited here due to lunch menu - can enjoy the full course meal (Appetizer-Main dish-dessert) witb very reasonable price. It only costs $32! Restaurant was quite exotic, staff were so kind and the food was good. Seems like reservation is necessary to have a seat at the hall. (Otherwise you have to sit at the bar)

The service from the wait staff is extremely good. Always around but never intrusive and helped with recommendations for our order. The jumbo lump crab cake was amazing. Beef tartare uses minced rather than hand-chopped beef so while it lacks the texture, it’s still well season and tasted great. The fillet mignon was a bit disappoint however. Ordered it medium rare and it came more medium to medium well. Still was a decent steak though. Worth a visit if in the area.

I have heard many positive things about Gallagher's Steakhouse in NYC for a long time now. Recently, I had the opportunity to dine at this popular restaurant during my visit to NYC. I was pleasantly surprised by their lunch special, which was reasonably priced and served until 3:45 pm. Despite arriving five minutes late, the staff graciously accommodated me. The restaurant has a rich history and offers a great value for their lunch steak course. Due to its affordable prices, the atmosphere was quite crowded and the seating was a bit tight, but the exceptional service made up for it. The staff was incredibly professional and friendly. Overall, it was a good experience with great food and an unbeatable price for a steak course.
