For three years in a row this was our first meal of the year. We visit after the polar bear plunge. The lines were long but the service was quick. Even though the workers had to be there on New Years Day they were all so nice even though we asked for 6 spoons and extra cups so everyone can try the lobster bisque and when we forgot to order the fries and asked to make the order so we didn't have to jump back in line. Whoever does the hiring and the training there put together a great team!

You’ll get exactly what you expect when you come here. Very few vegetarian options, but for a girl who loves her cheese fries that’s good enough for me. The orangeade was very refreshing on a hot day. The lines can be confusing, but move decently once you’re in them. Nice outdoor seating area. Tip: the restrooms here are much nicer than the ones by the beach.

Can't go wrong with a hot dog from Nathan's, especially when you get it from the original spot here in Coney Island. The menu doesn't only consist of only hot dogs; there's actually a lot of great food here. Staff is nice, and the building is well maintained and clean, it's definitely a landmark! My family has been getting dogs here for generations

Historical, yet, still go with the retro, classic vibe with the best hot dogs in NY! Amazing quick bite hot dogs here folks. Good price with good taste of food. Kinda bit crowded, especially in the summer season, but there are tons of outdoor seatings and if not, no need to hesitate but to bring your hot dogs to the beach! Enjoy!

Since 1916, Nathan's Famous has become a national icon in the food industry. It is home to the famous New York frankfurter (hot dog) and crispy, golden crinkle fries. The overall experience was satisfactory; however, the service was below average. The employees were not receptive to taking customers' orders, assuming that the consumers were on their time. The food was adequately prepared, and it did come out in a timely manner. The surrounding area was not as pleasant because there were many smoking marijuana close to the building, making it unsettling to dine outside. When visiting Coney Island, NY, definitely experience this unique dining option, but treat it as a grab and go place.

It's a summer tradition for me to come to Coney Island and visit Nathan's at least once. Since I wasn't able to do so last year, I'm very happy to have done so this year! The place is definitely busy on a Saturday afternoon but even more so due to some special events happening. The staff did a great job managing the crowd as best as they can. Pro Tip: If you're planning to just have hot dogs, stay to the right of the shop since they split it up to help manage the line. Food is always good and the outdoor seating area is open and there's always staff cleaning. A must visit when you're in town or new to New York!

It's impossible to be in Coney Island and not get a Nathaniel hotdog! Visited on the day of Brooklyn marathon so super packed. They had all registers going so considering the day the line went pretty fast. Hot dog were delicious but a bit on the skinny side. Beer was a reasonable price and only had a few for selection An icon place and a must visit.

I’ve been coming here since I was born! So many memories and fun times. The food is classic and I love some of the new items added to the menu like the wings and milk shakes. It’s a must for tourists and perfect if you’re in the area and need a bite to eat before or after laying on the beach or walking the board walk.

Been to this place every summer since 2018! ❤️ Can’t believe i haven’t posted any review yet! My husband only gets Nathans here 😁 I personally love their bacon cheese dog! Also the bacon cheese fries is to die for! 🤣🤣🤣 i know all the not so healthy stuff! It’s definitely a treat! My husband’s favorite is their Jalapeño ranch fries! Line could be really long, but it’s definitely worth it!

This is such a staple here in Coney Island! How far this place has come. There’s always a super long line here but they work very quickly. Their drinks are huge which is great especially for sharing. Their food is delicious. A very wide variety too. Have tried burgers, hotdogs, fries and seafood. No disappointment. Everything always tastes hot and fresh. Nice outdoor seating area. Definitely would come back and try out more.

Posted are the pictures of dinner. The place is pricy, but understand that it's Coney Island and you're purchasing at tourist prices. The line was kinda long, but the plain hotdog with onions and bacon, cheese fries hit the spot. I'll be back sometime during the summer for round 2. See you soon Nathan!

I honestly don’t remember the last time I ate from here up until the other day. I came for a quick bite to eat after attending a graduation. Their was no line & the customer service was good. Tasted so good and just as good from when I would usually buy them in the supermarket lol. The foundation soda tasted fresh and wasn’t flat so I really appreciated that. Can’t wait to come back again and try something different. I

Talk about premium upgrades. We haven't been back since the pandemic but Nathan's definitely upgraded to the next level. While they have added screens to order hot dogs, if you're looking to order anything else, get ready to wait in about a 45 min line - especially on a Sat night (when we went). The food is good and most was worth the wait. Definitely a nostalgic guilty pleasure.

The hot dog was perfect for a hot night at Coney Island. The fries were a little under done, but hot and fresh. We opted for the orangeade because we honestly hadn't seen it before. You should do it once, but it's not something I will seek out again. It's iconic, not gourmet!

No need for words here, it's Nathan's. The hot dogs and fries are to die for. Yes the lines can be long, and the prices are pretty high, but think of it as an event, because it's world famous after all...

Quick service. The place was clean and had efficient service. We got the famed hot dogs- both a regular and chili cheese dog. Both were awesome! The fries were also great. We ate at the tables next to the building. They were clean and staff was checking and cleaning as we sat there. Definitely a nice place compared to the rest of the area!

Menu's changed quite a bit since childhood. Now includes a variety of specialty burgers, premium milkshakes, chicken sandwiches, half chicken, and baby back ribs in addition to the staples. They also have a plant-based hot dog a/o 9/2021. Extremely long line on a Wed afternoon. Waited 30 mins to order. Some patrons wait a bit longer after ordering for the food to be prepared. On-street metered parking. Can pay w/coins, credit card, or NYC pay app. All cooks were wearing masks, several frontline staff cheating (wearing masks over lips only or on chins). Food is pricey, but the nostalgia and experience make it worthwhile.

  • 1/5 Nelson M. 2 years ago on Google
We waited, standing, to order and to get the food 45+ minutes. Several people left the ordering line. That happened a Monday at 1:00 pm The 1 foot long hot dog was $9.49 I wished I had ordered anything else in the menu. The burgers are better. I love the fact that all the doors were wide open.

  • 5/5 Bellin T. 2 years ago on Google
We had a good times. Very good hot dog and cheese fries. The employees are very quick and I dont have to waiting too long in line.

It should be a must on your classic New York pit stops. Do be prepared for a bit of a line to get your food, but as compared to past years where people are elbow to elbow on the block, at the time of this writing, the lines are sane. There are stone tables and benches to sit on in the open air, or you can take it to go. Beyond the classic hot dog, they now offered a plant based one, which is a wonderful option if you don't eat meat for whatever reason- same seasonings, but admittedly a different texture, so I'd recommends the original if you do eat meat. On the far side, they also offer clams, cheese steaks, lobster rolls and more. I may try those someday, but it's really hard to beat a classic dog and those incredible fries on a special treat day.

  • 5/5 Tracie P. 2 years ago on Google
The meal that I have been dreaming about getting again since we set up the trip for this year. The is no comparison for a delicious natural casing hot dog with all the expected taste and nostalgia. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Nick B. 2 years ago on Google
Although the line looks long and intimidating it goes by very quickly! Our favorite part was the bacon jalapeño fries. The sauce on them was so good! We both got chili dogs and although they were tasty I would recommend getting the foot-long because one hotdog is not very filling. Sitting next to the restaurant was comfortable and convenient.

Great fast food restaurant to grab a bite while you are at Coney Island. It gets crowded on busy days but they have many registers and fast service.

  • 4/5 Deenauth M. 10 months ago on Google
Great place to spot when at Coney Island. Overall, very simple hotdog with toppings, bun is fresh and soft, sausage is great, and the lemonade is excellent. There’s also frog legs on the menu item - I’d recommend you try them as a once in a lifetime thing.

  • 4/5 Michelle P. 10 months ago on Google
Classic place. We ordered the bacon cheese dog, fries, and onion rings. Bun to meat ratio is perfect. Casing had a great snap. Fries are basic crinkle cut (not my preference) PSA - skip the fish.

  • 3/5 ESB N. 1 year ago on Google
As expected. This is old school (100 years plus) fast food. Nothing special, heavy frozen fries and onion rings; ordinary hotdogs dressed with chili and cheese. Good snacks if you need a quick bite. Chicken wings, meh.

  • 4/5 Jenny L. 10 months ago on Google
While the food is more of a tourist-based (and more pricey food) experience, I can't deny that the food is delicious. I usually get their old fashioned lemonade, a hot dog and cheese fries. Gone are the classic Nathan's colors, replaced with Black and White designs, but the exterior remains pretty much the same! Seating is available outside of the restaurant with a fair amount of shade. The service could be faster, but that could be due to the start of the new summer season + new staff. The manager helped out the front staff and got us our order after some delays. Locations located on the boardwalk outside of Luna Park and on Surf Avenue across from the Coney Island subway station.

This place is a classic. It should be both a National Historic Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site. That being said the food can be a little more pricey than one might expect but it's worth the experience. They also have a location by the Boardwalk if on wants to enjoy eating on the beach.

I visit Coney island once a week there is a nathan's on the boardwalk but the hot dogs need to be cooked longer they tasted kinda on the half done side.So on my recent visit to Coney island I decided to go to the Nathan's on Surf ave the food was much better cooked and more organized as far as the placing of the order to picking it up.So from now on I will get my food from the Surf ave location and bring it with me to the beach.

Nathan's Famous hot dogs claim to be both the first and the best has stood up over the years. The hot dogs are as good as you are going to get anywhere. The toppings only add to the experience. Nathan's fries are unique in their own way. Square and served in a stack with there own little fork. When you come here make sure to allow yourself some extract time. The wait time is longer than the line may lead on. The system is not the best. I think if they hired a few more people to fulfill the orders it would speed things up. However, you will find the dogs are well worth the wait.

Wanted mustard and kraut and never got. $2.50 for eight once water bottle and no more walk-up stand. Too modern

  • 1/5 SF E. 3 years ago on Google
This place has one of the most horrible waits ever. They make you wait in line forcing you to wear very uncomfortable masks in the hot sun. These people do not know how to cook on time and will call people only once. Although the food is good this place does not know how to serve food and should hire more workers.

  • 5/5 Jose O. 3 years ago on Google
Are there better hot dogs in the city? Yes!, but are they as famous? nope! look you come here because of the name not because you are expecting the best dogs ever. Now that's not to say that they are bad because they are not at all. They are good. It just isn't what you would expect for the hype. Still a must try at least once.

Amazing! Even better than I could dream. I love hot dogs so when my friend told me that we were going to Coney Island for the day, I was so excited to eat at Nathan’s! We ordered everything! Fries, cheese fries, chili dog, regular dog. Not pictured, two beers. Great food for a great price, would recommend to anyone for lunch or dinner. Iconic meal to top off a fun day at Luna Park.
