A true gem in Times Square is difficult, if not impossible to find. This place is it. Only 28 rooms, the building is classic and stylish, and very, very clean and quiet. The staff is lovely. Our room is clean, and the bed is large and so comfortable. I can’t find any fault whatsoever with this delightful place. P.S. I am a native New Yorker, and wanted to treat my daughter to a concert and sleepover in NYC that was close to our destinations the next day. I know what's out there, and it ain't pretty. THIS place is exceptional!

NYC Marathon - A slice of Irish hospitality in the city that never sleeps My wife recently stayed at the Merrion Row Hotel for the NYC Marathon and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The owners and incredibly friendly staff make you feel right at home with their top-notch hospitality and service. The room was spotless, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable, appreciated the quietness of the room - it was a relaxing oasis from the energetic city outside. The hotel's central Midtown East location proved perfect for accessing all the major sights in NYC, such as Times Square, Avenue Shopping and Central Park. It's just steps from the subway which made navigating the city a breeze. Travelling alone I felt very safe and secure, also having such great local knowledge made my stay there that much more enjoyable. A standout was the mouthwatering breakfast, lunch and dinner. The chef uses fresh, local ingredients to create a delicious menu - the Irish staples are excellent and always enjoyed! My wife also valued how the staff and the hotel owners, Anne and Bernie both went out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect. They made my entire Marathon experience that much more fun and enjoyable. Their attention to detail is unparalleled. For an outstanding NYC stay with genuinely five-star hospitality, I can't recommend the Merrion Row Hotel enough. It's now my only choice when we visit New York.

This review is for The Public House Restaurant. Came here for dinner last night with my date and we were both highly impressed by the food, ambiance, and service. This is a very relaxed atmosphere with a touch of elegance. The food is made to order with the best of ingredients. There are quite a few healthy selections which is quite considerate of those who typically eat healthy, or for those individuals who may suffer from diabetes or high cholesterol. Definitely recommend this restaurant for groups, singles, and couples! Shout off to our waiter, Sebastian for impeccable service!

Fantastic experience! My family recently stayed five nights at the boutique Merrion Row Hotel and ate in the Public House multiple times. The room was stylish, clean and comfortable. The food was great and the menu had something for everyone. After a long day of sightseeing, the Merrion Row felt like home away from home. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, fun and super accommodating, especially Norry behind the bar. Our family highly recommends the Merrion Row Hotel and Public House.

First the positives. The location is ideal, ten minute walk to Bryant Park and five minutes to Time Square and theatres (if that is your preference). And the room(s?) are immaculately clean, and visually appealing. That is quite an accomplishment for hotels in “The City”, and should not be taken for granted. See pictures. The ambience INSIDE is quite warm and inviting, and captures their intended old Irish motif. In fact you will hear an Irish radio station playing softly. Issues — The television was advertised as being streaming ready. Not the case. A worker tried for a long time, after I gave up trying. We both eventually decided that TV is not that important any way. Advice —if you intend to stream, have them confirm that it is operable in your room in advance. The room phone (to call front desk) never worked. This too was confirmed by the worker who tried to fix the TV. Also, there is no lobby in which to sit….either while waiting for your room or waiting for your car to take you to the airport. The space was there, but they seemed to make it an additional dining area. Final tip —. Travel lightly if possible, as there is no closet area or other space for more than one person’s luggage. The service was absolutely great.

We had the unfortunate even of being caught in one of the worst travel days of the year for flight cancellations. Thunderstorms caused massive delays up and down the east coast August 5th. When we called the hotel to describe our plight, we were told “Well, it’s not raining right now in Manhattan.” Well, thanks for your understanding. This hotel, was the only piece that wouldn’t allow us an opportunity to even reschedule. I can’t speak for quality, but in a world where flights are routinely delayed and plans seem to be extremely uncertain, I would look at places a little more accommodating.

A bit off the beaten path, and a wonderful find for a morning breakfast or meal that provides a respit from city life. Lovely breakfast, an enjoyable stop!

This is a review for both the hotel and bar/restaurant. Both are very sweet, well located, with lovely attention to detail and friendly staff. -The location is JUST off of time square but tucked away in a cute, quiet spot. -The rooms are pretty and clean. Very boutique hotel vibe vs big corporate. -The restaurant food was good and not overly expensive. I had lunch and breakfast and enjoyed both meals. -The staff are very kind and friendly, helping to store and carry my bags. Overall I enjoyed both the hotel and bar/restaurant and would recommend both when visiting nyc!

4.8/5.0. I don’t give anything 5 stars, but I would give the merrion row house a 4.8 if I could. Excellent location to get to downtown or uptown by subway or taxi. Very close to theater district and Times Square but very little spill over noise. Neighborhood felt safe. The staff was accessible, nice and genuine. I enjoyed conversations with each of them and they were very helpful. Everyone seemed to enjoy their job. Rooms were small but comfortable. You have to ask for a fridge and there is no microwave which made leftovers a little challenging, but other than that the room was great.

Went to Public House the other day for some dinner with a close friend and had an absolutely amazing time. The bar was bustling but the dining area was nuzzled in the back. You would’ve thought you were in a completely different place since the happy hour buzz and volume did not carryover to the dining room. In terms of the food, everything was very reasonably priced and the lamb empanadas were out of this world. For my main dish I had the lobster ravioli and I have to say, the lobster was so tender and it was definitely a top dish in my book! Can’t wait to go back again sometime soon.

This is the perfect getaway, it feels like a home away from home in the center of the hustle and bustle of New York City. Close to theater, concerts, great shopping and amazing eats (Connollys right next door). From the minute you check in everyone around is friendly and happy, from the staff to the guests. We met a super nice couple visiting NY from Ireland. The room was spacious, updated and modern with a very home-like vibe. Extremely clean and comfortable. A great night sleep in a comfy bed with soft sheets and comforter. The bathroom tiling is beautiful and the rain-shower has plenty of hot water with good water pressure. The Irish breakfast/brunch was amazing on a glass-roofed indoor patio. After staying at many hotels in NYC over the years, this is the first place we said we wouldn’t want to stay anyplace else!

We've only been to the bar - and it's delightful! Such a beautiful hidden gem with a gorgeous glass enclosed patio. Great drinks and yummy food. The fish tacos and spinach artichoke dip are my faves. Great service- Daniel the bartender always takes great care of us!

We had a lovely dinner at this hotel in their back patio. Crab cake sandwich and grilled Octopus (4 stars as opposed to 5) because the Octopus was overcooked. Served by Felicity, who was efficient, kind and understanding. Thanks Felicity for modifying my drink to make it to my liking!

I want to share my thoughts on the Public House Restaurant at the Merrion Row Hotel in NYC. It's a hidden gem with great food. We tried the sliders for starters and had lobster ravioli and scallop risotto for our main course. The food was excellent, and the waitstaff were amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely place! The hotel is situated in the middle of everything. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was really, really great! There is a bar/restaurant in the lobby with good food, excellent drinks, and attentive staff. There was also a fun bar next door, where we watched some of the Open matches. Our room was in the back, so it was nice and quiet. Considering the location, that was remarkable. We would definitely stay again, and recommend!

My wife, teenage son and I spent a few days at Merrion Row over Christmas and had a wonderful stay! Shonna was superb at making us feel welcome and giving us tips on where to grab drinks and dinner. Jason was a great guy who befriended our son who loved talking all things NY with him. Daniel mixed great drinks for happy hour and a night cap. Loraine next door at Connolly's was so fun we went Saturday and twice on Sunday to watch football and enjoy a pint. We will definitely stay at Merrion Row again and recommend it if you are looking for something more intimate than a big box hotel (which we normally stay at). Cheers and Happy New Year!

I absolutely recommend this hotel. We prefer smaller, boutique hotels but have stayed in 5-star resorts worldwide and I would say the Merrion Row rivals them all with it’s staff and charm. The location is fabulous and only a few minutes walk from all things in Times Square/Rockefeller Center. However, it is tucked away on a side street and allows the privacy and quiet you might want in NYC. The small restaurant and bar downstairs were fabulous and the staff became our friends in 1-day. Breakfast was great! There’s a Starbucks across the street and the restaurant and bar next door were fun. The rooms were clean, beds were great, and the bathrooms were spacious. Most importantly, the people in this hotel are wonderful. They make you feel at home. We will be back!!

Had dinner here two nights and drinks for three nights. Six people, wonderful service, especially from waiters an bartenders. Caoimhim and Daniel were amazing. Friendly and warm service. Such a gem right off Times Square on the busiest weekend of the year. I would bring the family back in a heartbeat!!

If you're looking for a clean, safe, fully functioning hotel which is centrally located in NYC, then I recommend that you stay at Merrion Row. I read dozens of hotel reviews before selecting Merrion Row for our NYC vacation, primarily because of the reports of how clean the hotel and rooms are. It is a small hotel, with small rooms, but it has everything you need, including a very nice, quiet bar and restaurant (its tucked behind the hotel with an atrium seating option which is bright and cozy) with really friendly staff. For our first two nights we had very noisy neighbors (the walls may be a bit thin) but after that it was nice and quiet and we really didn't hear street noise even though the hotel is a block from Times Square. The bed is comfortable, the shower has both a rain head and hand-held option and the water gets hot! There was a fluctuation in room temperature during the night which was hard to regulate (our room got cold, while the other room our son stayed in got hot) but this was minor compared to the other positives. Don't be surprised by the extra $25/night fee which is given back to you in a voucher for the restaurant. I think this is a standard NYC add-on.

LOVE this hotel. My new favorite boutique NYC place. Great service, wonderfully sized rooms, loved the bathroom and layout, had all the necessaries, comfortable pillows (a must) and beds. The restaurant has outstanding food (although service a bit slow -just reach out and ask them to be more speedy if needed). Also, location super walk-able and very quiet considering it's in Times Square.

Fantastic European-style boutique hotel. Top notch service from the friendly and attentive staff, especially Shona and Shane in the bar. Will definitely visit again.

This review is for the restaurant. This is no "Irish" pub, by any means. The service was adequate, but our server acted like she didn't understand English very well. We ordered the fish and chips (trying to be on the safe side). It was satisfactory but not even close to an authentic Irish pub meal. The worst thing, though, was when I asked for an Irish coffee. The server acted like she didn't understand what an Irish coffee is. We finally received two mugs full of ice, some kind of coffee, and whipped cream! What a joke! This restaurant was a great disappointment for us as out-of-town visitors to NYC, and frequent visitors to Ireland and the UK.

I was on a business trip to NYC this past week. Some of my co-workers and myself were wandering and exploring when we stumbled upon the Merrion Row Public House. We were very pleased with our braised short rib slider appetizer, the main courses were very good and the waiter was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening there.

All of the staff are outstanding! Shauna and Seb are the two we interacted with the most and they went out of their way to make sure our trip was perfect. The hotel has a family feel to it which is wonderful. Fabulous location, great food, perfect room.

Had a wonderful stay for two in July 2022; Merrion Row Hotel is a cozy, lovely, quiet sanctuary in the heart of a very busy area. We really enjoyed the restaurant and full bar downstairs; dining there both at breakfast one day and dinner the next. Both meals were excellent. Sebastian (at breakfast) and Mary Kate (at dinner) were personable and excellent servers. We had everything we needed in the room; the toiletries were lovely. The bed was very comfortable. We were so grateful for walkable proximity to theaters for Broadway musicals. We would absolutely stay at Merrion Row again. :)

Stayed again in early 2022. The staff was wonderful. In the bar, please visit with Tony and Nori as wella s others. There are too many names to list. Enjoy your time, enjoy the hotel, and enjoy the location!

This is a classy place with an amazing location. Shona and Erika were great to work with. We had a party with 15 people and it was a great success so to them!

Strongly recommended for staying in NYC. Perfect location - Close to Times Square (1 min walk) but at slightly quiet street. Cosy boutique hotel with a beautiful interior. Clean and nice rooms. Absolutely fantastic, friendly and helpful staff. Sebastian is a good spirit of this place! ;) Super cuisine. Amazing breakfasts!!! The variety of beers - is huge! ;) I look forward to coming again!

Just an amazing boutique spot in the heart of the city. The staff remembers you, the drinks are great (cocktails especially), and their kitchen stands out for its chef-delivered cuisine at absolutely affordable prices (yes, even in Manhattan). I stay at a number of hotels for work and this hotel/bar/restaurant is a personal favorite. I usually go once a week and see what the chef has on special… highly recommend. Ask for the bartender Sebastian.
