3 night stay. Initial room on 5th floor; bed was not made so I asked for a different room. They were nice enough to upgrade me to a city view room on the top floor. I was a bit hesitant as many reviews complain about the elevator speed but I had no issues. Perhaps when at full capacity it could be an issue but I never had to wait too long. The cookies provided on check in are a nice touch. Room itself was quite small but suited my needs fine. Location is pretty good for a tourist; close to the statue of liberty tour ferry. Everything else can be reached by subway with stations not far away.

Pro: Staff was very hit or miss. Some were excellent, some were very dismissive. Tons of nearby metro stations. Bed/pillows were great! Rooms were small, but decent size for NYC. Restaurant downstairs is excellent. Highly recommend the Gnocchi. Breakfast was good too, but only if you have coupons from the hotel. The buffet is not worth the $19. The menu for breakfast however is great. Con: Elevators are insane. Three small elevators for 44 Floors. Request a low floor and do the stairs, you won't regret it. Staff was not receptive at all on the Hilton App. We requested an extra blanket four times and never got one. Finally gave up even asking. Heater in our room was temperamental, room was really cold at night. Still waiting on our cookies..... Fine for 1-2 nights, but I won't do it personally for any longer than that ever again.

Horrible experience! Customer Service was horrible, we were greeted by a grumpy front desk agent. She then assumed I was pregnant and basically called me fat. Then went to tell her co worker and was like I'll give you a gluten free cookie just in case the baby is allergic. Like what!? Laughed and then gave us rock hard double tree cookies that weren't even edible. We tried to check in early and they didn't have rooms. We came back around 7pm and were given a full size accessible room. We asked for at least a queen since there were two of us and apparently they were all sold out. While we were asking a lady next to us asked for a king she was alone and they gave her a different room. On another note, be ready to spend at least 20min waiting for an elevator. Going down or up as they are always full and take forever. We literally had to just get into one and go all the way up and then come back down. So annoying. Also, the breakfast was absolutely disgusting! The scones and croissant were rock hard. Poor service and coffee taste like water. NOT WORTH IT! They should just not even offer breakfast. DO NOT STAY HERE! Plenty of other hotels to stay around the same prices.

I’m leaving a 5 star review because my stay was amazing! The room was clean as a whistle and sanitized even better. Couldn’t even find a spot on the shower glass😂 Everyone on staff was very accommodating and had great customer service. I took my kids with me and we felt right at home here. The surrounding area was great filled with many options of many different things to do. The people here are nice and the restaurant breakfast at the hotel was delicious! The food was delicious at every place we ate at. The shower water and elevators all worked properly so I enjoyed my showers! Thanks everyone for making my experience the best I ever had! I will be back and when I do come back, I’m staying even longer!!!

The hotel was within walking distance of some fun places to eat. For someone looking for something a little unusual try the Cauldron for a fun drink. It is close by. The room was fine. There was vinyl flooring that looked newer. The bathroom was a little tight and the sink area didn’t have room for even a toothbrush or toothpaste. The elevators are slow so be sure to give yourself plenty of time if you have to be somewhere or ask for a lower room so you can use the stairs.

Location is the best, near the shore, near ground zero and many other iconic places. Been at Sunday so the area was quite. However the you can hear all night neighbors slam the door so the soundproof is not perfect. The rooms are clean. Breakfast has very poor variety I wouldn't recommend to have breakfast here.

Just did a 1 night stay with my 3 sons for a 2 day trip to tourist sites around the city. Relatively small property. Rooms are on par with size of most value rooms. Good price for the night. Tucked away in the financial district, it's close to the Staten Island Ferry (which is free by the way, recommend taking the round trip just for the views!), The ferry for the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, Wall Street, and about 6 min walk to the 9/11 memorial and World Trade Center site. Has a group of easy to access restaurants and bars all nearby and access to the N and R trains at the corner of the street which can easily take you up town or to Brooklyn (should you feel adventurous). Staff is generally friendly and helpful. You can check any bags on the ground floor before check in or after check out which is helpful. Small minor issues with equipment (shower handle fell off, out of soap in shower, some wear and tear on furniture, no fridge or microwave in our room at least) but again, I think for the value, these are all minor issues.

I was at this hotel for 9 days! Saturday until Sunday if the next week in July. My plane arrived early that morning, got in my hotel room about 3:30pm. So we checked our bags in downstairs and hit the city from 9am until 3:30pm. The Subway(Stone Street) is across the street, and Broad Street Station is a couple blocks away. Bowling Green Station is around the corner(very nice station). We paid $33 for a unlimited subway & bus rides. Restaurant is Italian food. It was good. Rooms are very small. I stayed on the 43rd floor and it was still small. But house keeping cleaned everyday, room was not outdated. Front desk crew was excellent. I was very demanding and they made me feel comfortable and made it happen. Overall this was a great stay for my wife, kid, and I. Only problem I have is that, there only only a couple elevators. It can take a while to get to your room or leave. I would book here again.

The location and service at this location was great. Very conveniently located to sightseeing opportunities and the subway. The staff was very friendly and would take time to ask about my dog and pet him. The room was nice and well kept, however, it was very small. Our room unfortunately smelled very wet the the 4 days we were there. It did rain the 3/4 days in NYC but the smell of wet and borderline mildew-y was unpleasant. I can live with that given the weather, but what I can't live with is the elevator situation. The reviews and struggle are real. You need to add 15-20 minutes to any travel plans you have because it will take that long just to get on one. And expect that each way--going down and up. You also need to plan for the elevators to get crammed due to the wait. So hopefully you are not afraid of crowds and cramped spaces. While the hotel stay was pleasant overall, we will not be staying there again due to the elevator situation. That's the only reason I give the hotel 3 star.

A brilliant hotel with just one major flaw. This hotel has many great things, great rooms with beautiful new york skyline views, a perfect location for exploring the city, and great service and food options within the hotel. Including room service. However the hotel had one issue, the elevators. There are 3 of them serving this 44 floor hotel. They needed 5, at least. We often found ourselves waiting 15-20 minutes for an elevator, not ideal. My only other minor complaint is that the buffet breakfast is $1 more than the food and beverage credit given to gold & diamond members. I thought that was a little cheeky. But other than that the hotel is brilliant and definitely worth a stay if you’re looking for a more affordable hilton option in New York City.

Wish I could give zero stars!! I never post negative reviews but I don’t want anyone else to waste their money. This hotel had one working elevator with over 40 floors!!!! Myself and friends had to wait at least 30 minutes any time we were going to and from our rooms. No apologizes from the staff or anything. It got so bad to the point that the cleaning staff allowed us to use their own elevator because they felt so bad. Eddie (I think that was his name) is the only good thing about this place and allowing us to use the employee elevator. Aside from that, do NOT book here!!!!!

This hotel is horrible i really would not recommend going if you want to stay in downtown new york. Starting off with the information provided by staff/front desk we were misinformed and we were not provided with any help. We had to consistently ask things for example where breakfast was. Next you can wait on a lift for up to 20 minutes and there isn’t enough lifts for 44 floors. The rooms are so small there isn’t even enough space to lay down your suitcase, for the price you’re paying you would have expected a bigger room. All in all you’re only paying for the view and the location. Lastly the breakfast is DISGUSTING. The food is cold there is no range of variety. The bagels are already crispy like they’ve been out for a long time everything is cold. There’s no milk for cereal and the breakfast staff are not helpful. I would not recommend ever coming here, if you want to have a good experience in new york. It’s literally just expensive for no reason and it being a poor quality hotel. DO BETTER

To start the hotel is a good location, room is nice and clean, and the staff is nice. However, the walls are paper thin and depending on the neighbors you have, you will be tortured by every sound and feel as if you are sharing the same room with complete strangers. Don’t expect staff to do anything, even though they are nice. We have complained several times about the noise and staff did not change our room, and told us to talk to a manager. I have shown them video proof of the noise (several videos) and they never ask the guest to lower their voices and keep noise level down. I have never had such a terrible time in a Hilton hotel, and we only ever stay in Hilton hotels, as we are diamond. Definitely not feeling like a valued guest. I feel like I spent money to be tortured and not able relax at all. Our first night the noise continued until 1am. Do not stay here unless you can handle hearing every noise from your neighbors. Plus there are 4 people staying in a 2 person room. Literally could hear them blowing up an air mattress. I don’t know how this is acceptable. After 10pm we expect to be able to relax and have peace and quiet. NOT HERE. I should’ve read the subpar reviews before staying here.

Well, it's clean and tidy and staff are nice. However, the rooms are way to small whether you're travelling as a couple or family, you struggle within such a confined space. The lifts are small and there are not enough for the size of the place. Plenty of places to eat nearby, though it's quite pricey now. If you can afford to upgrade I would. If you can't it will do the job. More of a 3 star rating overall.

Big qualm was with the ELEVATORS. 44 floors serviced by only 3 elevators. Takes forever for one to get to you if you're on G or 2. I came back at like 1230am on a Thursday and there were two ride-fulls of people waiting in the lobby so I just took several flights of stairs instead because by then I knew I'd be waiting a long time. Hotel room was fine. Like every other Hilton family of hotels at this price range. Staff was friendly.

Not going lie probably one of the worst hotels I've been too, especially with the name Hilton and the amount we paid to stay you think it would be an easy choice to book here well think again. First the rooms were ok definitely smaller than the pictures indicated. Also I got to wake up to brushing my teeth to the most cloudiest water I've ever seen and some of the other people who book there had straight orange or brown water so I kind of felt like I made out better. Also they only have 3 elevators for a 40+ floor hotel and can barely fit 4 people in them so good luck if you decide to stay here.

Had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights here this past week. Plenty of great things to do nearby, all within walking distance. I read reviews about the elevators being too busy, but honestly never noticed the wait times. Definitely would have been nice to have a microwave and mini fridge in the room, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Beds and linen were amazing! I slept like a baby throughout the stay. When I called to have fresh sheets brought up, housekeeping was very polite. I can say the same about all the workers, actually. Especially the gentleman who worked the counter on Monday/Tuesday nights. Thanks to everyone there for making my time relaxing and enjoyable.

Great experience. Hotel room was nice and cozy. The logistics for the ground floor and lobby were a little wonky. The soaps and body care amenities in the room were mismatch. Not a big deal but a little odd. Room service was swift and the food was good. I tried to order again one night at 10pm but he stated they were closed when the signage says 11pm. The location was perfect and cozy. Not too many people and easy to get around.

We were very pleased and would stay here again! We have stayed several places in the city and we thought the rooms were actually nice sized compared to others. Several subway stations close, made it easily accessible wherever we wanted to go. The elevators were a bit if a drag, but we have had that in other NYC hotels before. Rooms were clean and staff was pleasant. We will be back!

Great customer service! They welcomed me with a smile. I really like how close to Battery Park it is. I only stayed one night and it worked out. I give it 4 stars because the elevators are slow considering the amount of people checking in and out. If you plan to stay here you should add an extra 20-30min for the elevator to come to your floor if you leave right around check out time which is 11am. Overall great hotel and service.

It was good for the location and it was relatively quite in the area. It was bad because every single time i tried to take a shower the water never got hot. My husband took a luke warm shower two nights in a row. There’s no way i could tolerate that. We called maintence both nights and they told us the first night we need to just let it run for 15 min prior to wanting to take a shower. He would go check everything out and it should be good. So i planned on taking a shower the next morning to give him time to fix the issue. Got up and let it run for at least 15 min maybe even more and still no hot water. Called again and it was the same response again. Blamed it on the amount of people staying in the hotel at that time. You should have a water heater that can support full capacity. Won’t come back again because I didn’t get a shower for 2 days!

Hotel room and lobby look fine from pictures but service is terrible. For one, you need to call ahead to get the room cleaned and they are consistently understaffed and don't pick up when you call half the team. As another, they do not have basic amenities like shower slippers, glasses, and bottles of water. Finally, the hot water in the shower takes 10+ min to heat up and is not consistent. All these things made the stay very inconvenient. The only good thing about the hotel is I'd say it's fairly clean and pictures are mostly accurate.

Do NOT eat the breakfast buffet. It is $30/person and the vouchers they give you only cover half of it. The quality is very low. You can walk outside the door and get the same quality on a food truck for literally 1/10 of the price. There are plenty of other breakfast spots in the neighborhood. It's a total rip-off. The views are great, but the walls are super thin. Was able to hear every word of conversation from neighboring room. There are three elevators for 44 floors, and no service elevators, so every entry and exit is annoying. Bed comfortable and the fridge quiet. All in all I wouldn't stay here again, even if it was the cheapest Hilton in Manhattan at the time.

I really love visiting NYC and I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel, but I was kinda disappointed. The view was decent and the room was really clean. But, when I was trying to sleep at night time, all I can hear is people talking through the walls from other rooms and I can also hear their TVs. I had to whisper in my own hotel room in fear that other people can hear my phone conversations. I never experienced this at any other hotel I have been to in this city. Another issue I had was that the shower drain did not work at all. The water would go out of the shower and flood throughout the bathroom and it took literally 10 minutes for the water to even get warm. Unless you are getting a suite room, I DO NOT recommend this hotel. There are way better options in this beautiful city!

Good location but the hotel had fundamental problems and I wouldn't stay here again. Staff were great, including the manager who resolved a problem quickly and in a friendly manner. Location was excellent - three minute walk to the ferry, and Whitehall St subway station is just at the end of the street. The room was small, but that's expected for NYC - it was modern and well appointed. Breakfast in the restaurant was good. The problems though: 1. Noise - the window was not well sealed so everything going on outside could be heard clearly. There's also very little internal soundproofing, so your neighbour and their TV can be heard clearly, as can anything happening in the corridor. 2. Elevators. At peak times they were unusable - for example, at 10am we waited 30 minutes and had to let three completely full cars go before eventually taking the stairs from the 21st floor - with a young child. Other times were less of an issue but there was still a wait. 3. Calibre of other guests - the corridor on our floor smelled heavily of cannabis on numerous occasions. On returning to our room one of the times we noticed that housekeeping had opened our window - presumably because the smell had made it into our room. I get the impression that the hotel is used by groups. 4. Drain flies - not sure whether it was just our room but we saw a lot of drain flies around the bathroom, which wasn't exactly welcoming.

In the last 8 weeks of NYC travel I have stayed 4 times at this location. My first stay was excellent. Every subsequent stay has been worse and worse until I’m now no longer considering staying here on my upcoming NYC trips. The staff is stressed, which is unfortunately normal in this post COVID world, but this leads them to being openly combative with guests and even themselves. Fortunately the Hilton app is 99% reliable and you can skip the front desk all together, if your room’s key sensor is working right. If. The rooms are fine once you get in, but are showing age and neglect (cracked sinks and shower, wobbly doors, fridges that don’t work, water damage, etc). The elevators are absolutely deplorable and ruin the entire hotel experience. 15 sweltering minutes to get from your room to the ground floor crammed into an elevator with 15 other people as it stops on 30+ floors on the way down. Best advice is if you have to stay here, get the lowest floor room you can and take the steps. This is ranked a 4 star, but it has no right to be. Better hotels exist in the FIDI even at a 3 star level. Go elsewhere.

For the price paid, the experience was great. Staying downtown in NY can be more cost effective, and the quality and service level of the hotel was comparable with nearby Garden Inns. The room was a good size for NY, and the bed comfy. As others have noted, the slow and small elevators can be a pain. The stairwell is super tight, and so walking up the stairs isn't really an option. I was staying out of season, and so it didn't affect my stay much. The walls of the rooms were thin, and again I got lucky with my stay, with no noisy neighbours (one evening when returning to my room after dinner, the elevator opened on a floor that sounded like a party was going on!) The breakfast buffet is the adjoining restaurant was good quality, and the price reasonable for the area (~$25 per person, but much cheaper with Hilton Diamond status vouchers) I would stay here again

Wonderful stay at the DoubleTree! The staff was top notch - couldn't have asked for friendlier people. The location is excellent - easy connection to anywhere in NYC via multiple subway lines. The rooms are not huge - but it's NYC, you shouldn't be spending a lot of time in your room. Plus, the buildings are older the rooms will be smaller than a modern building. There were some reviews complaining about the elevators a long time. While there were a few times an elevator didn't arrive promptly after requesting, the wait was never distressing. This did not take away from our stay at all. Thumbs up!

Worst Hilton property I have stayed at yet. As a Hilton Honors diamond member I was extremely disappointed in my stay at the Downtown DoubleTree property. I was visiting on business in the city and after a very long drive I was greeted at the front door to the hotel by the potent smell of marijuana. The lobby and reception desk is located on the second floor and you can either take a very narrow staircase or wait 20-30 minutes for an elevator to move up only one floor. No diamond upgrade was available for my one night stay and to make matters worse I was informed by the receptionist that the near-by parking garage was closed down. I had to drive 8 minutes away from the hotel to park in a garage and then walk back 15 minutes in the rain to the hotel. Once I got back to the hotel I waited again another 20 minutes to take the elevator to the 23rd floor. There are 44 floors at this property and only two elevators. Somehow I ended up with only a full size bed even though I booked a King and my wife and I barely slept as we were falling off the small bed. The room looked like something you would pay $50 a night for, terrible accommodation. Very thin walls and jammed up right next to multiple rooms full of loud people. After barely getting any sleep we tried out the breakfast. The restaurant downstairs hosts the breakfast service and we were given a "voucher" to use there. The restaurant is very small and crowded and the continental breakfast was not free, had to pay an additional $40 on top of the "voucher" for the same breakfast that is free at any other hotel. The only benefit to this hotel is that you are near the downtown areas in NYC, overall terrible experience. I would not recommend staying here at all, choose another location.

Staff unfriendly. Except 1 housekeeper. 1st day we had to remind to clean room daily.Daily had to request for regular coffee and creamer. Slowest elevator. Need to have a elevator just for staff. At least provide house keeping w cleaning carts. Staff was carrying all supplies by recycle bags or little plastic totes.plus side everything accessible regarding visiting NYC food and transport.

We brought our 2 small dogs to this hotel for the weekend. They put us all the way on the 31st floor which wouldn't have been a problem if the elevators weren't so terrible. It took a painful amount of time every time we wanted to take our dogs out or really go anywhere with how long and how packed the elevators took/were. I will never stay here again. When checking out, we waited 25 minutes for an elevator. Only 3 hit our floor during that time and at that point they were so packed that we couldn't even get on. We ended up having to take the stairs, which usually I am completely fine with taking the stairs, but it was the fact that we had to go down 30 flights of steps with our two dogs and our bags. Absolutely ridiculous. Figure it out Doubletree by Hilton.

I was concerned about staying here after seeing so many comments about the elevators but I had no issues with them. Every time I needed one, there was less than a minute or two wait. Perhaps it was because it was midweek but the wait was fine. Check in staff and all staff I encountered were helpful and friendly. Clean room, great area, great stay.

The hotel staff was very kind and welcoming. Our room was great, the beds were very comfy! Although the air conditioner was working very… weird? Sometimes it was too cold and sometimes it was too hot and you couldn’t really be satisfied with the temperature in the room. The worst thing and I think the only bad thing about the hotel were the elevators! :( I was staying at the floor 21 and one time I couldn’t get on the elevator for 20 minutes! I heard it was moving but not stopping on my floor. That’s the longest I had ever waited for an elevator! But overall I enjoyed staying here! :)

Starting with the front desk staff. Horrible. Unprofessional. I did not felt welcomed. Nor my family. I see how people complain about this over and over again, and seems like it hasn’t change. Management is also a problem here. Hotel’s location is perfect. Very close to attractions. However, front desk staff need to get a lot more customers service training, make the customers feel welcomed, make more eye contact, smile often, offer assistance when needed,…I am so sad that I wasn’t treated welcomed.

Like many financial district hotels, this one features small but well-appointed rooms. The staff is friendly and attentive. There are 44 floors but only three small elevators which are in very high demand at checkout and checkin. You may have a long wait for one to come and it may already be full. On the plus side it is very close to the 4, 5 R and W trains and lots of good bars and restaurants.

My fiancé and I just stayed at the DoubleTree downtown for the labor day weekend. We arrived very early in the morning and unfortunately, no rooms were available for early check-in but the hotel staff had a bag check-in so we could leave our bags and go out into the city. Once our room was ready, we had a very smooth check-in and arrived to a very clean, comfortable room that seemed larger than many hotels we have stayed in in NYC - it was a decent size for two people. We didn't use most of the amenities of the hotel, but they do have a fitness room and restaurant. It is also very close to many restaurants and to Battery park, Wall St, and the Staten Island ferry. Most notable from our stay was that the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was very comfortable, and it was very clean. The staff kindly held our luggage until we were ready for our flight as well! We will gladly stay here again during our future trips to NYC!

There are 3 somewhat functioning elevators. Only two are accessible from the room floors and one is used to get people from ground to the other levels. A lot of floors have the down button disabled so you have to take the long trip down every morning. Expect at least a 15 min commute to the ground floor.

The poorest stay I have ever had with a Hilton brand. The receptionist acted like it was the most intellectually challenging task to issue a company invoice for my stay. The other one sent me to fetch my Hilton Honors benefits. The lobby is petty and dirty. DO NOT IGNORE THIS - the elevators are painfully slow and it matters with a 44 levels building. The mattress was bulky. The room furniture was from the 90s. The only good thing - the maid property tidied up daily. Overall - the worst value for money I have ever had in my life!!!!

The WORST hotel experience thus far! Stayed for 2 nights. Check-in staff was not very friendly, no courtesy whatsoever. They definitely need more training. Embarrassing for a Hilton Brand, really. Rooms are SUPER small. You can't open toilet door and shower door at the same time. Walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything that is going on in the halls. Guarantee you'll be woken up once or twice during the night. Elevators?!? HA! Do yourself a favor and stay on the lower floor, because you'll be walking up and down, especially during peak hours. Or, like many people mentioned, you'll be waiting for 10-15mins just to find out that the elevator is full, and then you have to wait another round. Just terrible. Had to wait close to an hour to have some extra towels delivered. That's how much they care for a guest. Had breakfast at hotel restaurant. Decent Eggs Benedict. But the atmosphere was kinda sad. As a Gold Member I received a food voucher worth $30 for 2 people. You charge it to the room and the hotel adjusts your bill, but the front desk managed to mess that up, too. All in all, really disappointing experience. The only good thing about this hotel is location. But luckily, there are many other hotels in the area. Never staying there again.

The price and location of this DoubleTree was perfect for my needs. In town for a race, I needed easy access to water taxis which were in walking distance from the hotel. There’s also lots of coffee shops within walking distance and even close access to Beatnic (a vegan eatery). Great access to several subway lines so I could venture out of downtown as well. Really like this area…a bit quieter than some of the more touristy parts of town. All the staff was super nice and helpful. Thanks for having ab allergy friendly version of the DT cookies available! My room was wonderfully clean and cozy. Would absolutely stay here again. Note: the elevators are a bit slow (there are only 3) and I found myself glad to be on a lower floor so I didn’t have to wait as long.

Great location. Excellent service from the Bellhop and Front desk staff. Room itself was average. Very clean and well maintained, comfy bed, but wish the bathroom and fridge was just a tad bigger. *warning* the elevators move at snail pace so be prepared to wait a while if you’re on a higher floor. We waited over 10 minutes a few times to get down from the 20+ floors.

I had a good experience at this hotel. The facilities were well-maintained, and the room was equipped with everything I needed. The beds were comfortable, the room is quite dark, which allowed for a great night's rest. The hotel is conveniently located, particularly for those with business in the financial district of New York. They had a good desk and reliable internet, which was great for work. However, the elevators need improvement. They take a long time, possibly due to the building's age and the numerous floors it has. This can lead to frustrating wait times whether you're going up or down. I found better breakfast options nearby, so the hotel's restaurant might not be your best choice. the hotel offers a 4 PM check-in and an 11 AM check-out. The service was friendly, and they even provided complimentary welcome cookies. In fact, I initially arrived at the wrong hotel, but they were very helpful in directing me to the correct one. The hotel offers a luggage storage service until 10 PM, which can be handy if you have an early check-out. Overall, I recommend this hotel, especially if you're in town for business. While the area can be pricey, it's conveniently located, with easy access to many tourist spots, the subway, and the ferry to Liberty Island.

Must visit! Amazing service and great customer service support by the front desk . One of the representatives went above and beyond to help my stay be enjoyable. I believe her name was Samantha . She gave my family and I a gift and also upgraded our room. We were on the top floor and the view was pretty good. The only thing that wasn’t really good was the sink which was cracked and broken but the stay was great and the room was clean.

The elevators are horrendous. They basically have 2 functional elevators for 41 floors (about 410 rooms). You will spend at least 10 minutes going up or down crammed into an elevator with a bunch of people, stopping at a lot of floors. Everything else of the hotel is nice, but the elevators are unacceptable.

Went here to spend a NYC trip for a couple of days. Check in great - thanks here to the staff - asked for floor preference and accommodated our wish. Helpful and kind. The room was spacious and comfy with a view towards Jersey/Sunrise. The location is very convenient and there are plenty of possibilities to explore, either walking or via Subway. I can recommend staying there.

One of the best Hilton chain hotels I've stayed at. Period. Sure, only three elevator shafts, but nothing that's soul crushing - just wait on the elevator. Clean rooms, hot water, attentive staff, excellent location. Ton of restaurants within immediate vicinity of the hotel, all of which range from good to outstanding. Would definitely stay here again, no doubt.

Excellent hotel in a great location! Good value for the quality. Felt very safe and well taken care of here. Beautiful decor and clean, modern and comfortable rooms. But the true standout is the staff here. They are true hospitality pros. All very kind and caring people who truly made our family feel welcome. 10/10.

Great location and the staff was amazing. My only issue was with the overwhelming vaping smell inside and outside the whole hotel. I had to sleep with the bathroom vent on. Why didn't I ask for a room and/or floor change? Because it was all over the hotel. No smoking and vaping rule should be better enforced.

It was very clean and centrally located. The staff were helpful. They are pet friendly and had discounted parking at a very close garage. The only issue was slow elevators but honestly its NYC thats to be expected. We will def. Stay here again in the future!

It was provided to me by the airlines so I did not spend anything here. Rooms are clean but small. Staff is very helpful. since I had no local number they helped me to call a taxi. Location is very good. New york stock exchange, charging bull and statue of Liberty viewing park is 5-10 mins walk away. The complementary coffee available in the room is awesome.

We checked out of this hotel today and overall were satisfied. Staff were helpful, hotel was clean and our room spacious. Location is excellent, not in the heart of the midtown chaos but close enough. Elevators however, are ridiculous to the point where they are almost a hazard. Due to the silly building design, there are too few of them and they are constantly jam packed. You are waiting 15-20 minutes just to get up or down which is an irritation right at the start or end of your day. Add to the mix that the poor cleaners/janitors do not have their own service elevator so have to take all their cleaning equipment in those same lifts. God forbid someone has a health emergency on one of the 44 floors, you might be dead by the time you get to the ground floor because an ambulance crew would struggle to get up/you not able to get down. Therefore, Hotel NOT recommended for people with mobility issues or volatile health concerns.

Great location, next to financial district and Metro. Friendly, helpful front desk staff. Rooms are small, which I guess is to be expected as this is premium location. Negative: twice when I tried to shower I could get no hot water. I let the water run for nearly 15 mins but to no avail. This is a significant inconvenience and I feel should be addressed, or people should be told before that frequently there is no hot water due to water recycling? I nonetheless had a good time and liked the second floor lobby with work places and chairs and power sources. Denis

Overall, it is good for the price and i appreciated the free snacks at the check-in. The location is nice but the elevators are quite frustrating. They are slow and extremely small. The couple times I was waiting for them, it took about 10 minutes.

Our family stayed here for a week and had a wonderful stay. Wonderful view (we asked for city view), staff was super friendly. Hotel is situated close to a metro station which was very handy.

The location was good. The thing I did not like is the elevators. Management needs take a look at this. I waited over 5-10 minutes for elevator most of the time and gave up and took the stairs. And please provide more than 2 flat pillows for a queen size bed.

First timer to NYC. All that I was looking was for a place to crash after a busy day and this hotel served the purpose. Conveniently located and just few minutes walk to Charging Bull, Battery Park (SOL ferry station), 9/11 Monument and Wall Street. The pricing depends and varies based on each day of the week, which is understandable. However, I am rating this 3 star because: - rooms are smaller than what’s shown in the picture (felt claustrophobic) - size of bed is smaller than usual (I was staying in a room with 2 queen sized bed and my kids never seem to be comfortable) - slow room service. I requested for additional bath towels and it arrived after couple of hours - no hot breakfast. Microwaveable Frozen food only. No Buffet. - No trash bin in room. Seriously!!! - No hair dryer - no attached and valet parking. Paid parking only at a garage close by (2 mins walk). Parking is kinda scam. The hotel claims it’s $45 a day. However, it varies depending upon the size of vehicle which is decided by the garage operator. Since my vehicle was F150, I was asked $15 additional a day stating my vehicle is oversized. If you are okay to manage all of the above, then choosing this hotel or something else it up to you!

Had high hopes for this property due to it being a Hilton, boy was I wrong. I have a severe allergy to feathers and told them this ahead of time yet there were 3 feather pillows for a King size bed. Called down to get foam and another couple of pillows since 3 for 2 people isn’t enough, was told we could only have 4 total; then at least put 4 in the room. Then the guy came with 2 more feather pillows and swore they were foam and left. Had to wait over an hour for the replacements. No complementary continental breakfast, couldn’t get more cream or sugar for coffee despite going to the front desk since we were rudely told the runner has a ton of requests and it would be awhile. Like everyone else said, rooms are tiny, only 3 elevators, staff is rude. For the money, stay somewhere else.

Typical New York hotel. The hallways are narrow, the floor plans are interesting, the rooms are lovely, the views consist of a grand and up close experience with other building and the elevator is extremely slow. If you are in the hotel for business, I would recommend either booking a low floor or one of the top floors, otherwise, good luck trying to get out of the building with the rush of everyone else trying to get to the office. Or, seriously contemplate using the stairs. My room was lovely and I slept moderately well....which is a rarity for me in hotels.

  • 1/5 Chloe C. 2 years ago on Google
It was a great location (right next to two subway stops, walking distance to Statue of Liberty ferry and Battery Park), however, like everyone else the elevators were a big problem. Sometimes the wait was up to 15 minutes! My suggestion is to ask for a lower floor so you can just walk down the stairs. Also, the water coming out of our tap smelt like dead animal or something very disgusting. I would recommend to go to the Duane Reade on the corner to wash your toothbrush with bottled water. There were hairs on our sheets and someone tried to enter our room in the middle of the night. They also charged us an additional charge at the market that we did not make, so make sure that you check your receipt prior to departing.

Had a nice staycation here, 4 stars for the staff they were awesome, especially Adriana at the front desk! It was Valentine's Day so the hotel was completely swamped, and she was still so kind and attentive. Will definitely be staying here again, thank you Adriana!

Pretty nice. Bed was comfortable. Only 3 pillows for 2 people. Rooms are small but appropriate for NYC. Elevators are difficult, long waits especially with luggage, often difficult to get up or down. Lobby on 2nd floor is inconvenient. Meal vouchers were pretty good, attached restaurant was good. Parking is a block away, expensive probably at market for NYC. I'd stay here again, although there are some inconveniences. Probably similar in other hotels in the area.

I was expecting more from a Double Tree Hilton especially comparing to the ones in England. I don’t expect too much in life but when you have paid good money for a hotel with high standards, you expect comfy pillows and a clean room etc etc. The lift (elevator) was a ridiculous situation because they’re only two for like 44 floors and you can sometimes be waiting for like 15\20 minutes which could be avoided if it didn’t stop at nearly every floor. I only got one pillow and requested a second but apparently they ran out so my neck did hurt but the bed was very comfortable at least. I had to use my partners pillow so we shared in the end lol. Location is amazing which is the main positive but I did find around the underneath of the bed dust flying around so try not to move the bed but apart from that everything else was clean. The towel situation can be a pain because you have to sometimes wait an hour or two to get one or two towels and room service can be hit and miss if someone cleans your room but the cleaners are very polite and nice people. My main and this is the biggest point I will make, whoever made the walls in this building clearly didn’t think to make them thicker because you can hear a pin drop. I’m a heavy sleeper but had to get a refund for one night of my stay because I could hear music, text messages coming through, talking, shouting, swearing, their tv and even walking around at like 2/3am. The walls are paper thin and aren’t suitable for families or anyone who wants a good nights sleep. Took three attempts going to the front desk to get these noisy neighbours to change room as I had to keep complaining and going downstairs plus we were on like the 34th floor. I did receive a refund from this nights stay which boosted my review from one star to two but I did expect the walls to be thicker, the room to be hoovered under the bed so you didn’t have dust and also two more pillows which are comfy not flat. Apart from everything I have said, location is perfect and it’s just a shame the walls are so thin and the two lifts are either slow, packed or unavailable. There’s a third lift used by staff or the cleaners which you can be lucky enough to go in but only when the door is open and in use. They did let us use it when it was really busy but I’m not saying you’re always going to be able to use this other lift.

My sister & I had pleasant interactions with the staff and housekeeping. Checking in & out was a breeze, and they held our luggage for us the last day so we could explore NYC more. As noted, the elevators were a drag, but the thing that was really bad was the fact that there were literal bugs crawling on the walls of the bathroom. Like tiny beetles of some kind. They seemed harmless, but it was still gross. The shower floor was also cracked, so my sister & I avoided that for two days & stuck to dry shampoo. Not ideal. I probably would not stay here again.

Well, as with everything in NY consider traffic hours...when wanting to use the elevator. There are stairs though for those wanting to do a bit of fitness 😁 Consider reception is at level 2 and not ground floor. They were nice enough to accommodate us and extend our checkout. Room was clean and cleaning was done every day unless you decided that cleaning is not needed. Location was just great. Close to everything in Financial district, subway, coffee shops, bagel shops...you name it 😉

2 nights stay. Overall point was fine! Take the lower floors cause elevator is a big headache in this hotel. There are 3 elevators but you might wait and wait and wait to take one! Room was clean location was good you can take R or W subway which is in the corner and connect you to everywhere.. Except elevator I recommend this place!

I got a decent government rate staying at DoubleTree NY downtown. The hotel is clean, the room size is definitely on the small side though. They have a restaurant on-site and as a Diamond member, I can easily use my credits for food and snacks. I would say overall a good experience.

Jose and his team members (three ladies) at the front office did fantastic service. Very welcoming and smiling. Delicious cookies and love the idea of roulette, where you get to play for an extra reward. The room is clean. Kudos to the housekeeping. We have the best views from our room. The employees, service, and stay were outstanding, except for the elevators. Nonetheless, we are coming back.

I travel to New York very frequently on business, and have done so for 20 years. Over that time I have stayed in dozens of hotels. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in New York, and among the worst I have ever stayed anywhere in the world. There are three elevators serving the entire 44 story building, and they are used by guests and staff alike. It can take 15 minutes to call an elevator to your floor, and when it arrives it is very often full. I stayed on the 23rd floor and had to use the stairs on multiple occasions because getting into an elevator was impossible. I checked out early in order to check into another hotel (the Downtown Marriott - a far better property), and was forced to haul my luggage down 23 flights of stairs. In doing so, I encountered several other people doing the same thing. Apart from the dreadful elevator situation, they do not offer daily housekeeping. Furthermore, the rooms are small, dark, badly furnished, and very depressing. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The staff were amazing. We had a horrible experience with the holiday inn express nearby giving our room away to someone else. We had to stay up for 48 hours straight but these guys took care of us. When they heard our story they let us check in early and did everything in their power to make sure our stay was a good one which we really appreciated. I took away 2 stars because this place claims to be a 4 star hotel and yeah.... No. The rooms are small, no tub, just a small shower. We've been in 2.5 star rooms that are nicer than this so yeah definitely more like a 2 star hotel. Amazing staff though. They were extremely nice and accommodating.

Solid 4/5 overall. Staff that we met were pretty nice and outgoing. The room that we stayed in was pretty good, given that it is downtown Manhattan and the price point. The daily servicing was phenomenal. This hotel is right next to a few different subways and pretty close to the bull as well.

Um again very disappointed with this hotel. I didn’t find the hotel staff most helpful told me the booking had been cancelled but already paid fully for the room which sent my anxiety levels up. After chat with booking agent they sorted out the mix up which was fine. Room was okay and spacious and views where decent. What bother me was a left about 4-5 dollars of change on the desk went out for the day and came back to see the coins had disappeared. I didn’t want come across being petty but whoever clean the room took the coins for whatever purpose. I spoke to the reception who where no help try to past the buck and decided to leave the matter but decided that I didn’t want room service to service the rooms. Luckily my other possessions where still there but did make me feel a bit uneasy. So if planning on staying at this hotel I would advise to put everything in the safe provided. Also the lifts can be very busy at times so would factor that in your planning. Also wasn’t told via booking agent that they would take $300 deposit. Overall as come to New York often for work I wouldn’t choose this hotel again.

The Doubletree is in a great location in Manhattan. It's a 2 to 3 block walk to the train, shopping, Battery Park, the NYSE, and several other attractions. Restaurant on the first floor was fantastic. The rooms were a little small, but very clean and beds were fine. The only reason I almost gave it 4 stars was the elevator situation. It sometimes took 15 minutes to go up or down and there is No air conditioning. But otherwise, good experience overall.

I had a great stay on my trip. The staff were nice and I liked my room. Also was able to check in at 12pm and get straight to my room to nap which was great because I did not sleep at all on my flight in. It is near quite a bit and there was easy access to transportation. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is due to the elevator. The elevator takes forever (15-20 mins) to come and there are only 3. It would randomly open on almost every floor going upto your floor despite there being no one waiting there which lengethend the time to get to your floor and your time waiting if you are waiting for one. Everyone I spoke to had the same complaints. Other than that great stay and I would definitely use again next time I am in NY.

First of all the elevator was the worst. It'd take 20 minutes. To just get an elevator. Then another 5 minutes because there were so many people on the elevator to get to your room. Second my place looked nice at first. Then I moved the cover. Man there was old hair and some other dirtyness. That was not clean. I tried to call about it and got nothing. I definitely won't be back.

Nothing wrong here...except the USB charging didn't work in my room, nor in the lobby. But when we tested in a regular outlet with a charging base, it worked. Shout out to Jose Rodriguez at the front desk for letting me use his spare. I tried to offer $20 since it's saving me from a quest (despite being quietly upset that the amenity doesn't work), he asked that I simply return it to the front desk. Staff is great! Was gonna give 4 stars but Jose contributed the extra notch.

Overall the experience here isnt bad. Decent location, clean rooms. The staff were as friendly as they could be, but I didn't really need them at any point. The elevator situation is so bad that alone removes a star. Theres 44 floors and only 3 slow moving elevators. It was normal to wait 10-20 minutes for one. Met another guest, who was wheel chair bound, they said they waited 40minutes for that elevator. The entire staff starts at 9am and all get on the elevators at the same time severely enhancing the wait time. I was denied access to the restaurant, I assume because I was wearing a t-shirt and jeans The hotel AC stopped at 74 and would not go any lower.

Good hotel in an amazing location..but..... This hotel is located in the Financial district, close to the Broadway street and to the charging bull in Manhattan. A lot of bars, restaurants, coffee and convenient stores around. A Starbucks store is a couple of minutes away. The green Metro line is in the corner, the red line is 3-5 minutes away. Close to the ferry terminal. The hotel has more than 40 floors, gym on the 3rd floor and the lobby is on the 2nd. The main floor is the restaurant and the concierge. This place is pet friendly. Despite all these nice things, the rooms are EXTREMELY small (good for single or couple only). As a family with 3 kids we strangled a lot! Moreover, in our room the ac was annoying and very noisy (we couldn't sleep with this noise). The water faucet in the shower made a hissing noise while using it. Bottom line, they should maintain the rooms better and fix all these annoying problems. Also, the elevators are terrible! So busy in the morning and evening (sometimes we were waiting around 15-20 minutes to the elevator). The capacity of the hotel was full, so we were missing 4-5 elevators till we got our opportunity to get in. The staff is friendly, attentive and very helpful. No breakfast in the hotel, but the coffee machine and cooler with the drinks on the 2nd (lobby) floor.

I thought the location for this hotel was great. Located right across the street from Whitehall station (R and W), you have easy access to Brooklyn, shopping, and other New York attractions. The Staten Island ferry is a short walk from this hotel. The rooms were OK. (reminds me more of a Hilton Garden Inn than a Doubletree), and for me, the service was great. I definitely would stay in this hotel again. Tip: if you’re using the R or W train to get to this hotel, if coming from Midtown, upon exiting the train, walk toward the rear of the train for the closest exit to this hotel. after exiting the turnstiles, turn right to get to the exit, that’s right across the road from the hotel. it’s important to note that the four and five trains are one block away from the hotel at Bowling Green station.
