I want to start with the good, so the common area was really cool, the have a pool table, two TVs a good kitchen and so on. Really nice place to be, but you have to go outside to go to that area, it’s right next door, but when I booked the hostel I didn’t know about that. I don’t mind that point, but there are also a few things I also want to mention. When we arrived, we check in and walked in to our room, which is pretty small (4 bedroom) and a guy was already in there, even though we booked a female dorm. We spoke to the staff and he had to change the room, because someone gave him the wrong dorm card to a female dorm. We felt really bad because he was already sleeping and the staff woke him up and changed his room. It was of course not his fault, but also not our fault. It’s also important to mention, that the walls are not connected to the roof, which means you can hear every single noise someone is making even though it’s really quite, you don’t have to worry about waking up to late, because you will wake up by everyone’s alarm. We also came in winter and we didn’t read that they don’t provide real blankets, maybe we shouldn’t have expected that. In Summer it should be fine, because they have thin lines to cover with, but in winter we were freezing. Also it’s pretty loud because the subway is maybe 4min away, which is also an advantage but mainly horrible when you want to sleep. They provide earplugs.

Super-friendly staff in a nice, clean, facility. Rooms are decent, towels are included. Huge Lounge area with is totally separate from the bedroom (next door) so there is no noise from there. Check-in is 3:30pm, but they will let you shower and check bag for free earlier. Great place right next to the J train easy to Manhattan, and easy to air-Train

Stayed here four night. Restrooms were relatively clean 4/5. On the last night noticed smears on vanity mirror in restroom. Should be clean more frequently. Most people will not mind nearby train noises, I didn't. The neighbor noises are more annoying but usually they quiet down after a while. The walls don't reach the ceiling so noises can be heard between rooms. I was in a two-bedroom room. Just enough extra space for luggage. You won't want to stay inside, if not to chill or sleep. This hostel didn't have organized events or tours like others do.

The staffs seem to cheat customers. I saw many customers complaining because they were given lower quality rooms than they reserved. There is no elevator and you have to carry you luggages through a very narrow non-standard stairs. The noise from the nearby passing trains and streets never puts you to sleep. Not recommended for anyone especially girls/women. It's a scary hostel.

Good location, close to the subway and easy to access. No elevators so quite difficult to carry heavy luggage to the rooms. Rooms were small and the walls didn't go all the way up so it got very noisy (you could hear people whispering and alarm bells going off and such things), so bring earplugs. Showers were tight and crowded in the evenings/mornings. Toilets were behind glass walls which was a bit weird. Good commonplace next door to the hostel.

It's a homeless shelter now. Their website seems to be active but this place isn't for the public as it's no longer a hotel. Don't waste your time booking here.

One of the worst hostel I have ever been according to value/quality ratio. Personnel was not welcoming, rooms are tiny and every floor is packed, of rooms so they can make more money. Moreover, the rooms are not completely closed to the corridor, so you can hear people from all the rooms snoring or talking all night longo. But there was even other thing that makes things worse, rooms are door to door with an elevated metro, you can enjoy an amusing earthquake every 5-10 minutes. This was never stated in the information of the hostel.

Rooms were just chipboard that did not extend to the ceiling. This allowed every bit of conversation and noise to be heard from all rooms on the floor. People did not have to be loud for their conversations to be heard, the sound just travelled. This would be fine if specified in the description of the place but it is left out. If looking for a place to sleep for one night it is fine but for the price I would look elsewhere. Facilities are clean, however, just too noisy to get a good sleep because of this design.

This hostel is really well situated: just a mere block away from a metro station -which in turn makes it a tough alternative for light sleepers, since it is also right in front of their tracks and the trains can be heard loud and clear from inside the building. It offers semi private rooms which are a plus, since you get a small room to yourself, although it'll still be equipped with a bunk bed and the big caveat of having to share the smallest bathroom I've seen in a hostel yet. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a centric, affordable place in Brooklyn, this hostel is a great alternative.

Clean, modern upgrades and comfortable beds. The only complaint I have is actually just confusion around why the walls in the rooms did not go all the way to the ceiling. I could hear the person next door tossing and turning all night because the walls don't go all the way up. And I felt like if I took a phone call or packed my bag I was waking people up in other rooms. Super strange, but not a deal breaker, and they provide ear plugs at the front desk. Otherwise, the hostel was nice and I'd stay here again.

The rooms are very small, barely any space. The walls of each room don't actually go up to the ceiling so you hear everything from people in other rooms which makes it hard to get a good night's sleep. There is no soap provided in the bathrooms. However the hostel is very clean and the common room is cool, it has a pool table, fussball table, TV and a kitchen. However it closes at night which was kind of annoying. But unless you're a really heavy sleeper I wouldn't recommend staying in this hostel.

this was the worst hostel experience i ever have in my entire life. No place in rooms, no lockers, just a couple showers for all floor, railway just right on the window (i mean, you can touch the railway from the window, that means noise every 30 seconds) someone also stole things from my room ... what a experience. DON'T GO.

Good for a place to sleep and leave your items if you are exploring the area. They have ear plugs at the check in desk I would suggest taking some when you check in to avoid a trip downstairs when you get comfortable because of noise. The room which was the size of a walk in closet was fine because my friend and I had 4 backpacks total, however it could get annoying if I was there for more than a couple days. The room had no ceiling so if your neighbor or someone down the hall was talking or had their lights on you would hear it. On the surface the room was clean but I dropped my headphones under the bed and saw that it probably was not vacuumed for some time. I did not have to wait to use the shower or toilet on my floor but I got up early to shower. Location wise it was right next to a transit line which was great but it's also a bad thing because you will hear it early in the morning and late at night.

This hostel is very clean, but the layout is cramped and chaotic. On the first floor is check-in and a small waiting area. Floors two and three are rooms, but the walls do not go all the way to the ceiling (like a bathroom stall), so you can hear the neighbors snoring, getting freaky, and their light shines into your room. The rooms are the size of a bunk bed plus maybe two feet on one side. The open kitchen and common area is next door through an outside entrance, and is very nice. The location is very close to the subway, which is convenient but also somewhat loud. Overall a decent place in Brooklyn.

Extremely high prices for the narrow box they assigned me, not very good service, very small bathrooms where practically everyone can see you in the shower

Good value ! What's really cool there is that it's just next to the underground station (Marcy Av), but it's also the only downside about this place : It's literally under the subway line. However, inside the building, it is perfectly isolated from the outside noise. The bathroom was very clean, and the rooms are actually well designed. You can leave your stuff in the room since there are only 2 beds in the rooms AND there's a key to enter. Overall great bang for the buck, I would recommend it hands down.

Place is cool but the wall don't go up all the way so you can hear everything going around you and all the bathrooms are public too

The place is very nice and we'll maintained. The staff can seem rather snobbish and aren't always the most friendly. I booked a single room and was given the key and I lugged my 100 pounds of luggage up 3 flights of stairs only to find a man sleeping in my single room. Back down the stairs I went and luckily the gave me another room on the second floor, but I can't fathom how you don't know someone is asleep in one if your "clean" rooms.

Bunk beds are tight quarters, but the common area is clean and spacious and the staff are friendly. I'm looking forward to my stay here. It's a good place to rest your head, shower, and shave if you're just moving to New York. Bonus points for the coffee in the morning. It may be too noisy for some. There's a train nearby and the doors and stairs are audible. That's to be expected, and is made up for by the people and proximity to the Williamsburg bridge and the City.

Good for a quick short trip. Walls are not attached to roofs. This voices can be heard from adjacent rooms. Rooms with more than 2 beds are quite congested. Can try alternate hostel accommodation in Manhattan too.
