Stayed in a private room for two nights and very much enjoyed the hostel. Unbeatable price for a place to stay in NY. Spacious lobby and bar, kitchen and laundry facilities, rooftop balcony, and friendly staff. A short walk to multiple subway lines with service into Manhattan. Quiet area. A great option to socialize with other guests.

This is a great, clean hostel. The rooftop is chill with a gorgeous view of the upper Manhattan skyline. Rooms, showers, and toilets have no wasted space, but the bathroom does have the sink shower and toilet all separate so the bathroom doesn’t get tied up by one person. Keep in mind this is a hostel, and I had some roommates that made the experience less than comfortable, but that’s just hostel life. No complaints!

I stayed at the local for one night. The staff seemed friendly. The location is ok - seems like it is in a factories area with mainly car shops and similar ones right next to it. If you walk about 4-5 blocks, then there's residential area with restaurants and grocery stores. The room itself is quite small, almost feel like the cells you see in a jail on TV. The 4 beds room has 2 bunk beds, each comes with a on-floor cardboard to put in your luggage (no lock provided, so you need to bring you own lock). There's a window but nothing much to see from the inside. The room had only one chair (for 4 people??). The bathroom is very small with separate toilet and shower. Overall, I don't think I will come back because it's not worth the price. For the cost of $70 per night (it's advertised as 50-something, but that's before they charge all the sate and city taxes), I'm sure one can find somewhere better to stay.

I’m currently staying at the Local NY through Monday (11/29) and I have to say I’m disappointed in the service. Yes, this is a hostel and yes, the price is very affordable, but there’s a minimum to what guests should expect when staying anywhere. These things are cleanliness and maintenance of property to very minimal standards. Keep reading if interested in details but short version is: stay here for the price and location but not for cleanliness, maintenance, nor quality customer service. Long version: we arrived Friday (11/26) and reserved a room of four for our party. While checkin time is 3 pm, we showed up at 5 pm. We were assigned a room and when we went to the room there was someone in the room and the beds were not made nor was the room clean. We went downstairs let them know what happened. We were reassigned to another room. This other room had not been cleaned so we waited - let’s not even get into the attitude we got from the woman who was there to get us set up. After getting settled in the room, we noticed the toilets nor the shower had been clean. We went downstairs and asked them to take care of the issue. Additionally we noticed that the latch to close the window was missing - therefore we have a window that opens randomly in the middle of the night. Despite multiple discussions with the front office staff, nothing. Short of a sudden change of service, we won’t return and recommend that you think about the downsides before booking here. Update: we were issued a refund from the Local NY and the window latch was fixed for our last night. We appreciate management's responsiveness and hope our feedback helps with future operations/management.

Only been here as a bar and hang out space. It's a nice bar with the most friendly bartenders. Nice chill space for a group event, or for a big crowd hang. I really enjoyed their drinks. They also have board games if you you want.

Staff was great! I appreciated all the activities they offer for guests, the complimentary drink if you stay two or more nights, the café and the rooftop has nice views. There’s room for improvement when it comes to the bathrooms and shower areas. Please install more hooks and wall storage all around the bathrooms, showers, and bedrooms. Add ventilation to the bathroom. That would be very helpful. I understand it’s not entirely possible to change the dimensions of the dorm shower/bathroom, but jeez they are TINY and I’m petite. The bunk beds would benefit from individual reading lights, extra storage, and more privacy. Clean the bookshelf area. FYI: There’s no elevator! Train station is a 7 minute walk away. Good location. I felt safe as a sft. Honestly, it’s overpriced considering how basic and lacking this hostel is. I’ve stayed in much nicer hostels in NYC and other costly cities and paid less. With these changes, I’d feel a little more at ease with the high cost.

Would give a better review but they had me in a 4-bed room that someone took over for them self and had been squatting in since the pandemic started (he said they wouldn't take his money anymore?) He acted like it was his apartment and made his own rules for the room even if they didn't align with that of the hostel. Thankfully he was a nice guy overall but they surely put me in a weird situation.

One of the best places I've found, rather on accident! After a nightmare situation with housing and traveling for work, I ended up here. Jordan at the front desk is a wonderful young woman. Even if you don't fit the backpacker traveler typical hostel stayer, it is clean with a great cafe and bar. Restrooms are clean. They've really developed a friendly culture within the hostel. If you need last second business travel housing in NY, this is 100% doable!

I recently visited the Local NY and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel especially for the price. It is hands down the best value you'll get! The staff, especially the bartender Sophia, were top-notch and made my stay all the more enjoyable. Sophia was friendly, knowledgeable and made some great cocktails! There is a common area for all guests where the hotel hosts entertainment for guests often. There is even a rooftop overseeing the Manhattan skyline open to all guests. I would highly recommend this hostel for anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay in NY.

Stayed for 3 nights this week during a quick solo trip to New York and had a wonderful stay. Beautiful views, just a short walk from Court Square Station so it's super easy to get to Manhattan. The bar was great, there are computers for guests as well as laundry, a kitchen and a lounge spot with books. Rooms come with towels, bedding and lockboxes. I booked a 3 person female dorm and had it to myself the first night and I always felt extremely safe. The lady at the check in desk when I arrived was not extremely kind but everyone else absolutely was so I'm giving 5 stars. My first time to New York and it won't be my last, I would definitely stay here again.

The hostel facilities are so cool, the vibes are amazing and the staff is super kind. The bar is so chill and affordable. The rooftop definitely blew my mind.I went to The Cliff (climbing gym) on Wed with Greg, such a great hostel’s activity and cool guy! Highly recommend, I’m super greatful about that. Thanks a lot, I hope to see you again

Poor internet, especially in the room. There was no ventilation in the shared bathroom. The key card system wasn’t working, and there was no compensation of any kind for the inconvenience. It’s a large building and a nice space, but this place needs better management.

In my two nights at The Local I became very appreciative of what the place is all about. Unlike any regular hotel experience, there is a welcoming and homey energy that is clear from the start. Everyone is there to make sure you feel welcomed and at home during your stay and it shows! Great and very unique place to stay in NYC on a budget.

I only stayed one night here but I WILL be back. The staff were all super friendly and let me drop my bag off before check in so I didn't have to carry it around. There's also a really cool little library and lobby with a bar. The rooms are nice (I stayed in a 4 person female dorm) and I loved that we had our own private toilet and shower. There's also a rooftop that has spectacular views. I can't wait to visit this place again. And it's not a far walk from the subway.

I couldn't expect anything better in a city like new york. It is affordable and spacious at the same time. They have a reading room, community space and a kitchen as well. They also have a bar, which is basically a small cafe at day times. Coffee and other drinks are also priced reasonably. Bathrooms and toilets are small but very clean. Cherry on the cake could have been toiletries. But I guess that's too ambitious of a service from a hostel at this price. Last but not the least. They offer spacious lockers for every bed. If this is your first time at a hostel then please note that for such kind of properties you have to carry your own lock.

Today's date | 2 27 24 A two star hotel aka Hostel, that's been here since around 2014 in an up and coming neighborhood of Long Island City, NYC. I did not stay here, but apparently there is a rooftop for guests. It's about an 8 min walk from the Court Sq stop. It's a quiet industrial part of LIC, so let's call this hood, Industry City | LIC. The cafe is big with high ceilings and it expands to the back room full of couches and a large projector that always shows movies, but no sound. I've seen live music in area by the bar/cafe. Happy hour M-F, 4-7p. $6 mixed drinks, wine and draft beers. Coffee starts at $2.50 for a 12 oz drip until 3p. Some pastries. After 3p it's all bar. Light music playing in the background. Whoa. Very cool. 5 stars.

I adore this place fr. I've stayed here twice because I like it so much and I've got my next stay already booked. Everything is great. I love that they have a kitchen and laundry room. The bar is great but pricey if you're backpacking on a budget. In the winter, the rooftop terrace gets covered in snow and feels magical. Literally a 2 minute walk away from the subway which is incredible. The location doesn't look safe at first glance but it feels very safe. My only complaint is that I wish the showers had a shelf or something. There's no where to put my clean clothes other than the floor which is fine but less than ideal. There's also typically a pool of water in the shower room because the curtain needs special care to close all the way. The staff are great, the lobby is great, there's luggage storage, I could sing this places praises all day long tbh

The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient and very close to subway station Court Square-23 St. The area is safe and quiet, with shops, supermarkets and restaurants around. The room is small but nice. The view from the rooftop is amazing. However, there are not some many places to put your stuff in the room.

The housekeeper didn’t clean for several days, so I requested a room change since I booked for several upcoming days. They wouldn’t let me change a room and (lied) told me it was fully booked even though the website and third party booking sites show many available rooms. The next day, the staff retaliates against me for writing the above review. He comes to my room and tells me to leave since I made complaints about the lack of housekeeping services. It was so extremely rude. I was happy with the stay except for the lack of services and didn’t want to leave or cancel for the following week. I didn’t even mention the lack of housekeeping to anyone until several days passed, and the staff was essentially yelling at me that I was “taking advantage” of him. I really don’t have any other words for this treatment. I had to repeatedly tell him that I was happy with the stay except for the lack of housekeeping which was resolved when they cleaned today, since he was trying to make me leave because I made a single complaint. I want to clarify once again that I am very happy with the stay except for the lack of previous housekeeping services, and I will not be canceling the rest of my reservation. It is really an extreme overreaction from them to try to get me to leave, because I had only spoken to the staff one time about any issues and had only posted this review. It seems like they are being abused or threatened their employment behind the scenes, so that’s why they are so harsh towards a guest for complaining and writing a review. Today, another aggressive male staff came in my room and argued with me for 15 minutes about having my own bags in my room. I have shared my room with 3 other girls and none of them have had any issue with my bags in the room (I asked them right when we met). It is empty space and there is enough room for walking inside. They are bullies looking for any reason to harass guests. The staff aren’t the ones using the room either, but only they have complained about the bags and none of the guests inside have. Please hire better!! Please post luggage storage costs publicly. I was told that there is no charge originally when I asked yesterday, and today at checkout the manager told me there are extra charges out of nowhere. After asking him to waive it since I stayed for more than 20 nights and because I want to check in tomorrow for additional nights (he told me storage before check in is free), he started crying. He was confused himself and then changed the charges ($42 to $35) since they’re not written anywhere. These charges shouldn’t be a surprise to the guest and need to be posted in a policy publicly. I then asked for a receipt for these charges, and he handed me a receipt with a list of other charges I have never seen before. I couldn’t tell whether these charges are additional and he has just charged them now again when I swiped my card just now. I was told I would be charged $35 for luggage storage, and I was handed a bill for $109.15. This is the same person as the first incident. He is really rude and impatient and even told me to just leave with my belongings when I asked for a lower storage cost since I stayed for almost a month. I still don’t understand the bill and he won’t answer any questions about it (why it lists $35 twice for debit and credit - I should only be charged $35 once by debit).

The place itself is pretty nice. They have rooftop parties with spectacular view of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge and the skyline of Manhattan. They have a nice spacious lounge, a quiet study area with a library setup, and a bar. The beds are barely 6 feet in length so a bit small for me. They do NOT provide shampoo for free, you have to pay extra if you need to wash your hair after a long day of roaming and exploring. They do provide extra blankets and locks for free. Overall it is clean but the walls are not very sound proof. Your experience also largely depends on what roommates you get and it can be a random homeless person, a person who just landed from an undeveloped country, a person with extreme religious views, a loud person who comes back from a party at 4am, or some clean quiet college students.

My friend and I stayed here as a first time to NYC and it was great! We had a private room and bathroom and it was no problem at all. The room was more spacious than expected and although the bathroom was tiny, it worked great for us! Great community, very nice staff, safe area, about a 8-10 minute walk to the subway. Would recommend for anyone looking for a cheap place to stay near the city!!

I really cant say enough great things about this Hostel. Great location in LIC, great vibes with fellow Locals from all around the world, superb and extremely attentive staff/housekeeping that are willing to go above and beyond to accommodate its guests. The Owner-Ms Lee-is truly a gem. Over the past year, she has assisted me tremendously during my training in the area, which began promptly at 6am- Monday through Friday. There was no way I could have commuted from my location in LI at such an ungodly hour, and she accommodated me with lodging for my duration right until the end, for which I am forever grateful. Whether it's a longer stay such as mine was, or an overnight business trip, The Local will definitely welcome you and make sure you feel right at home. Thanks again to all my wonderful friends at the Local!

I wish I could stay longer! Even though the price is cheap, staff, customers, and hotel quality are at the top level. I have spent a lovely Christmas watching the new Matrix movie with the rest of the guests and eating free popcorn! Didn't try the bar and rooftop but it looked just perfect for socializing! The rooms are also REALLY clean, I can't be more satisfied. Thanks for everything guys!

Easy to navigate to from JFK, and a quick metro or pleasant walk into Manhattan. Large areas for relaxing, office, kitchen, bar. Rooms adequate, I shared a four bed bunk room. Convenient to have private bathroom in room. Bunks old style, squeaky. Appreciated they allowed me to have a package sent prior for collection. Good emails/communication. Was allocated a bed that was already occupied upon arrival, issue quickly resolved by reception.

The Local NY is one of the better hostels that I’ve stayed in. I love the way it’s set up! The cleaning staff is awesome - very thorough, polite & respectful! Also, the front desk & bar staff made me, as well as everyone else, feel welcomed. Overall, the hostel has good energy vibes & I met some really great people while I was there. Here’s the names of the staff who were very personable & treated me well, during my stay: Gaby (Bar) Sonia (cleaning) Joy (front) Luis (Bar) Torrey (front) Vanessa (front) Erica (front - sorry for the incorrect spelling)

Just a short walk from the metro, the place felt really safe even at night. With a bar and working station below the dorms, it was really nice to have a place to work at. I stayed in the 6 man room which consisted of 2 bunk beds and 2 singles. It was really peaceful as we did not any noise from the surrounding and the bar. Not sure if applicable to the rest but the room I was in had a connecting toilet and shower with it. Although there was no mat to dry your feet and slippers, it dried relatively fast. Roof top views are amazing btw. Would recommend

Absolutely recommend this hostel. The stuff is super nice and kind, the whole hostel is super clean, and they organize some events during the weekends that makes the stay more fun. I would defined recommend you to stay here. Is 3 mins away from the subway station that leads to Manhattan city centre, so the location is excellent. 10 points!

  • 5/5 Abigaëlle G. 8 months ago on Google
This hostel is great. Not too expensive, but clean and easy to reach by transit. The dorm rooms are small but well kept. There are outlet at each bed. The only small issue would be that there is not individual lights at each bed and the room is really dark. So roommates need to agree for closing the lights and with strangers it can be tougher.

Standard but high quality hostel product. Generally clean. Rooftop is nice but I'm sure would be nicer in the summer. I didn't interact with staff much but they were friendly and helpful when I did. Nearby access to multiple subway lines. Manhattan 10-15 min away by subway. Probably the best value option in the city at the budget end. I never went to the bar but the drinks were very reasonably priced.

Nice hostel in a quite area of Queens. Good to stay if you prefer a better rest than in Manhattan. However, I do not really recommend to go past the Queensboro Bridge (the area turns a little bit odd there)

Top notch hostel! Nice neighborhood, quiet, clean, cozy pillow and blankets, nice dorm rooms. The staff were all friendly and always willing to help with a smile. I will definitely recommend to friends and would stay here again for sure!

Loved it and would definitely book again. In a safe spot in Queens, so close to Manhattan (legit 6 mins on the Metra to times square) and not far for exploring Brooklyn. Great value for the price and the chill lobby area doubles as a bar / cafe. Super spacious, with outlets, for travelers on an odd schedule to hang out, grab a beer or coffee in! Staff super kind, beds comfy. Only improvement point would be the showers but for the price you don’t mind!

I’ve stayed here before a few years back, definitely pre-pandemic times, and I liked the hostel. However, I can’t 100% say my stay was without complaint this time around. I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm for one night and came in around check in time. The ladies at the front desk were super sweet and awesome from check in to check out. My shower room in the room was in really bad condition. Mold all alongside the caulk lines in the shower, on the ceiling of the shower, and the floor of the shower definitely needed Jesus 😭. The lockers under the bed are kind of annoying to use/access but are of a good size if you wanted to store your bags. The toilet roll holder in the bathroom was broken. I obviously can’t speak for other rooms and this is just my experience from my room assigned. In my room you could hear everything from the rooms next door as it seemed like the walls were made of paper, lol. The location is good as the E and F trains are in close proximity. All in all, it’s a good spot for a one or two night stay!

I went in February 2022. The place is very nice, but when you use a hostel is sometimes unconfortable because the other guests with share room. But in this case I recommend this place. The common restrooms are very dirty by the way. But it's a great option if you don't have any issue with the hostels. New beds and very clean.

I enjoyed staying at The Local during my stay in NYC. People who work at the reception were always very helpful, and I met there a lot of really nice fellow travellers. The roof turned to be a nice spot to see the fireworks on the 4th of July getting to know other people staying at The Local!

I booked a room at the last minute after my flight was cancelled, and was so impressed with everything about The Local. They were so helpful and accomodating, from my initial phone call, to letting me check in early when a room became available, to booking a cab to the airport early in the morning, at their discounted rate. The Local is situated near the iconic Gantry Park, and is walking distance from shops and sights. The rooms are well designed and super clean, and the lobby has everything a traveller needs, from computers, printer, charging area to a bar area, comfy couches, local art...and my favourite: a roof top lounge area with views of the NY skyline and Queensborough Bridge. I highly recommend staying here!

Location is great; it's not in Manhattan, but almost. Then you have Target and Trader Joe's (supermarkets) nearby. I recommend it for those looking to save some money and who don't mind sharing a room -- it's a hostel, after all. Upsides: they lend you a padlock, which is unusual for a hostel to do, AFAIK; rooftop with nice city view. Downsides: bunk bed is a bit shaky/squeaky and small; pillow a bit high, but that's a matter of taste. I would stay again.

Great place for price, booked last minute for 6 nights, stayed in 4 bed room with its own toilet and separate shower room, only 2 stops from Central Park SE corner, Common seating area with projector screen and other with desks and tables where phones/laptops can be charged, bar with hot/cold drinks available all day, common kitchen with all stuff needed, staff very helpfull and friendly, padlock for spacious locker next to bed provided if needed, pizza place few steps away and some cafe's and local food shops nearby, 10 minutes walk to park with great day/night view on to East Side of Manhattan. Recommended by UK/Poland visitor.

Had a fully paid for reservation, hotel refused to allow checkin. The front desk advised me we don't allow faggotts into our property. For a variety of reasons, his matter then caused me to contract covid, bronchitas and phenomia. I was hospitalized and I'm suffering from life threatening medical complications, because they don't allow "faggotts." I contacted the police, my attorneys, filed a lawsuit and restraining order on these people. Don't let whatever "pros" you find about this property, no matter how much they may accommodate your travel needs, steer you into booking here. I would not wish what I've gone through on anyone. I have disturbing video evidence if this situation, once the litigation is settled, I will share it.

Just left this place and I had good experience over there. They have 0-24 reception, I arrived at midnight and the guy at front desk was super helpful and nice!! We had little problem because at the Booking they messed up and my reservation was for female room, they offered me a free beer at the bar right next to the front desk until I was waiting to fix that. It was really quick and after 15 minutes I was in my room. Toilet and the shower are separated from the room so you can use it without disturbing people in the room. Considering that I arrived late, I was trying to be as quiet as possible, for someone that could be a problem but you know that you are coming at place like that and you know what you can expect. If you’re coming just try to be as nice as you can and do the things you would expect from your roommates to do !! They have big lockers so you can put your backpacks over there and lock them. Highly recommend this place if you are nice and friendly person !!!!

Overall, I would recommend this place and would consider staying again (in a private room) despite the cons. Pros: ✅Close to subway station and short subway ride to Manhattan ✅The common areas on the first floor are nice. ✅Staff was able to switch my reservation upon arrival. ✅Price point. Cons: ❌Staff were minimally helpful. No coins for laundry though there’s a sign in the laundry room that says reception has coins. Staff recommended I walk to a corner store (in the rain). ❌ The problem is that the hostel is pretty isolated and there are not really any stores nearby. ❌The bar was not fully stocked and lacked ingredients to make classic, staple beverage. ❌Bring back the COVID vaccination requirement for shared dorms. One of my roommate coughed and snuffled the entire night!!!! IDK if she had COVID but it would’ve given me some sense of comfort if there was some vaccination requirement. ❌ The shower could’ve been cleaner the tile on the walls looked very dirty. The shower head also needed replacing/updating, as water just spewed from the head with very direction.

Clean 6 person rooms, locker for luggage, great view from rooftop. They even have a small kitchen for use, with microwave and toaster. Worth to stay. Fully recommend if you dont mind hostels.

Great hostel to stay in Queens area. Very close to LGA and in the vicinity of the major district in Queens. The dorms where super clean, bedding was comfortable and didn’t feel old, smelled or bugs. They provided two clean towels which were as good as some of the star hotels! The front desk was very welcoming, people who shared the dorms were courteous. There is a kitchen, a full bar and the dorm I stayed came with attached shower. Highly recommended if you’re in the area. This is worth the money.

The Local is conveniently located to several subways lines, which makes for an easy commute to Manhattan and Brooklyn. The place is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. There’s a cafe/bar located in the lobby, which is a great place to read and work. I would def recommend to anyone visiting the city for work. Also, Matt, the manager, is really plugged into the local food scene - he recommended some nearby restaurants and breweries that didn’t disappoint.

Great place. Clean room to sleep in, nice staff, cool bar area, and the view from the rooftop is amazing.

Hostel just a short walkway from the subway. The lounge and bar a nice place to relax for the evening. Sharing a bedroom with 6 other people was neutral.

I love the location of the this hostel, in Long Island City, Queens. 7 or 8 minute walk from bars and restaurants, 15 minute train ride from Manhattan. The staff is really friendly, the lobby area is modern and clean with a nice bar. They have a good kitchen area and laundry room. Affordable. The rooms are standard, but it's what I expect from a hostel. I've stayed at hostels often in different cities and this is by far one of the nicest ones. I will stay here again!

Was looking for a place friends can stay, but since this place still allows reusable masks that demonstrably don't help per CNN's expert Dr Wen, I'm removing this place from the list. Modification after your reply: I patronize places that follow the science. EU airlines don't allow cloth masks. And vaccine requirements don't cut transmission as evidenced by Florida's death rate 331/100k vs NY 347/100k. CA has more people with N95s, and has lower death rates per 100k. Allowing cloth is the same as allowing nothing w/o vaccine mandates. Will not be recommending you. Better to go with Eric Adams' medical expert's opinion instead of your own at this point.

A good hostel. Clean and well furnished with comfortable beds and ample locker space. Staff service were amazing. Cons were that the kitchen was hopeless (so don't come here if you want to prepare your own food) and the key cards didn't always work.

Stayed there for a night in 2019. And yes, I just came back to 5-star it. Really clean, really cool vibes, and loved the people. Plus, a drink on the house with check in (not too bad, eh?!)

I enjoyed my very short stay here, especially the bar (guava cider!) that turned into a cafe (pretzel croissant!!) in the morning. The only downside was being able to hear people talking in the street outside from our room, but otherwise it was comfortable enough, felt safe, and in a convenient location.

One of the worst hostels I've ever been to. Bathroom of 4 people bedroom is too small, the kitchen is not big enough and not enough utensils and appliances are available, same as common places for having meals. The hostel doesn't organize almost any activity, there's not enough cleaning and on our stay there has been even a private event on the bar that took the already little common space available. Convenient location and price are only the two good points.

This is the fourth hostel/cheap hotel I've stayed in in the last 10 months, and it's easily the best one! The rooms are incredibly clean, the staff are awfully kind and nice. Will recommend this place for anyone looking for a cheap and stress-free stay in NYC!

While I was grateful to have a private room that I paid for, my room was extremely hot because the A/C was not on. Also, the windows (which I love attracted so much heat. It took hours for my room to get a comfortable temperature. I took a shower and the head fell off and hit me in the chest. Other than that, the staff was friendly at checkin.

Great hostel! I spent 9 nights there. Comfortable, clean, friendly staff and very well located. moreover the price is fair compared to what can be found in Manhattan

Wonderful place , I stayed here for 6 nights , the room is extremely clean and new , the staff are super friendly and nice , we always chatting around when I was there , they even shared their food when we were sitting in the bar , very pleasant place , it’s more than just a hostel . And you can meet a lot of great nice people in the hostel too, people are polite and respectful. The location is also perfect , 3 stops subway to Manhattan, and the rooftop view is incredible, great events on weekends. This place definitely 10/10 , definitely come back when I visit New York . You guys are the best The Loacal 👍👍👍👍

My only gripe is that I was denied an alcoholic beverage late night 9/14-9/15, no problem with that, but then another person in the lobby was served a beer 10 minutes later who was doing work right next to me. Definitely left me a little annoyed. Edit: changing 3 star service to 5 stars...the beautiful person and mom to be, sent me off right with a complimentary beverage. What a great place

Stayed at The Local in 2015 and really liked the location, the atmosphere and the amenities. Returning this month, I booked The Local for some familiarity - and it was just as lovely as I remember. Booked a private room and had some wonderful privacy. The bar in the lobby is ace, and I loved that there was an ATM, vending machine and hangout space in the venue on quiet days. Would stay here again in an instant.

The location is a bit isolated but at a distance of a few intersections it is served by the metro lines E (express towards Jamaica for JFK) M, G, and 7. The bed I found quite comfortable and the room very modern with bathroom and separate shower area. The luggage space is very large, above average. The room is very nice but not very practical. There is no support area near the bed's power socket, if you want to recharge your mobile phone during the night or put your eyeglasses close to you, it becomes very uncomfortable. The sink has no countertop. The bar is open in the evening but apparently it is not possible to have at least one coffee in the morning, I found it very inconvenient, especially since there were not many places nearby where you can go for breakfast. Convenient to be able to leave your luggage at check-out, but I would offer it as a free service rather than charging $ 1. Overall I found the price paid high for the service that was offered.

Stayed in September 2021. There was an electrical outlet in the bed and I felt clean. There was also a shared space on the roof, so I was able to relax. I think it's a good hostel👍 I request to the hostel a private curtain on your bed.

The stay was really nice. The rooms were clean and the lobby was great. There is also a rooftop that gives you a cool view of New York. For the price, it is hard to find something more worthy in NY. The staff was super friendly and I want to give a special thanks to Ryzen who takes care of the guests and spreads amazingly positive vibes!

The entire staff that I interacted with were delightful and helpful. Christian was exceptional and Amber was Pleasant and informative about Queens. Sandy Was a wealth of knowledge about the subway. The bar was fun after a long day of sightseeing. Had many interesting conversations with fellow guests.

Overall a good experience as a solo traveler. Felt weird walking around the neighborhood by myself at night because of how quiet it is but not that bad of an area. Moe was awesome, super friendly, made my stay more enjoyable.

This place was really great for the price! I came in a little worried but everything really was great. The room, bedsheets and towels, and private bathroom were super clean. All the staff I interacted with were super friendly and helpful! I would absolutely stay here again.
