DO NOT book this place!! They will take your money without any consideration of your circumstances. I booked this hostel and a couple of hours later I had to cancel my reservation due to an emergency that I did not foresee at the time of my booking!! They decided that they will keep my money $654 to be exact and provide a refund of some kind of fee that was $21. I contacted the manager to help me out, they literally do not care. It’s such a poor customer service, so inconsiderate especially during these times. This is not a small amount that they are stealing from individuals who find themselves in a a unfortunate situation where they have no choice but to cancel the reservation. They are able to make exceptions but they refuse to! My reservation was not canceled the last minute, it was literally canceled hrs after booking. I will continue to share my experience regarding this hotel. They ignore the communication and refuse to provide name or contact of someone who is in charge of the hotel to look into my issue.

It’s pretty bad. -Free breakfast was advertised but we learned they were no longer doing it upon arrival. -No towels despite advertising that as well. -Luggage storage prior to check in was advertised as free but we were charged $5 per bag in person. -Their phone number doesn’t work so you can’t call ahead to ask questions. -The bed squeaked loudly whenever you moved a tiny bit, and the bedding didn’t fit the size of the bed. -The A/C only cooled the room a little bit, was loud, and leaked condensation onto the floor. -The hallways and room had an unpleasant odor. We’re also not sure if they cleaned the room before we arrived because the floors seemed dirty.

You get what you pay for to be fair. Staff not always very helpful. Location good. Stay here if you just want an okay place to sleep. I would personally not come back.

Location is good. FULL STOP. Amenities and facilities lacking. No AC in common area, AC broken not fixed. Summer time hot weather. Sharing fridge a mess, no label. Guest took other guest items from fridge, happened to me. When check in, rest room soap dispenser empty, have to ask them to refill. I stayed for 4 nights, on third day I went to front desk to ask for a new towel. The staff said need to charge $5 for towel, what!! I have stayed in a few backpacker hostel, this is definitely not recommended

The location is really central, only 15 minutes walk away from Central park, 15 Minutes walk away from times square, 12-15minutes walk away from Rockefeller Center. The entrance to hostel is very unclear as there is no billboard or signage, but still i could find it. The free breakfast on 3rd floor includes bagel, coffee, jam and butter. There is also a kitchen, free for guests to use. The room is good, but there are no toiletries (except hand wash) and also no towel, so do bring everything with you. The metallic bunker beds are okay but whenever we turn our side, they make noise, some make more and some make less. The blanket is really thin, but there is central heating and each room has its own thermostate, so you can set the temperature according to your need. The blanket and sheet looked clean and washed but they had some long hair in them. There are locker boxes in each room for storing luggage, but without a lock. The power sockets are just next to the lower beds, which is not good. The upper beds have no near by power sockets, so either they leave their electronics on the floor for charging, or they bring a longer charging cable. I knew what i was booking, so nothing caught me by surprise and i was satisfied with me stay.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed here and I don't know why the reviews are so harsh. The staff are super lovely and accommodating. Me and my friend had booked at different times and were allocated different rooms for the first night but after that the staff were happy to move us to the same room. Rooms are cleaned daily and have great Aircon, even if it is a little noisy. The most fustrating thing is not having access to a plug on the top bunk and having to leave your phone to charge on the floor. Breakfast of bagels and tea/coffee was set up daily which was a treat, especially if on a budget. I feel most of the bad comments on here were from people who were expecting a hotel but couldn't afford one. It's also in a super amazing and central location. The only downside was trying to email the hostel before had. I messaged about 3 weeks before asking to be placed with my friend and then 5 days before I messages everyday and I finally got a reply asking my friends details but still nothing was done about it until we got there. Anyway, long review short I had electricity, a shower and a place to sleep and I can't say anything bad about that! - bring a lock for the lockers. - first time(2019) I wasn't given a towel but 2nd time (2022) I was. - Filtered water refil. - there is a toilet in the common area if someone's in your room toilet (in the seating area)

They're thieves. When I arrived at the hostel, my booking was missing. And I booked at prices that include TAXES, so that's why my booking was "non-refundable"thing (because of the TAXES). But Staff charged me WITH TAXES and paid a total of approximately $ 70 more. I was very angry, unpleasant, and I don't know How long should I wait. It's been already two weeks ago and I claimed the third time but they never answered. I hope I'll get a refund quickly. Please don't come here. You can't use a hair dryer here, and you have to buy a towel. But if you tell the cleaner, they give it to you for free (so weird). It was so uncomfortable. I made a reservation using hostel dot com, but I can't get a refund even though it wasn't my fault. They even stole more money. I'm going to file a lawsuit.

Receptionists not interested in helping. No water. No soap. No towels. No common areas. No safety at all. Not recommended for Covid times. Location is great but it's not worthy to risk your health, better take the subway and stay somewhere else.

First off, the location is excellent. On a big street right next Central Park, with a lot of public transport connections and restaurants. The room was not very clean and I felt that it was expensive for what you actually get. One thing that I really didn't like was being charged 5 dollars a bag for storing my bags for a couple hours in their storage room. This is something that is usually free of charge everywhere else i've been.

The position is great but the rooms are really dirty (we stayed for 3 days and they never came to clean + bedsheets were awful). You have only a bathroom per room and in the morning it's a mess since the rooms are for 6/8 people. Definitely it costs too much for what it offers

I arrived at midnight and was greeted by uninterested and unwelcoming staff. The bathroom had no soap or hand tissue. The receptionist said they didn't have any and would get them in the morning. The toilet paper was also almost finished and overall bathrooms were really dirty. The top bunks have no power outlets and you have to use the bottom bunks outlet which can get difficult if someone is already asleep. The only thing going for this place is the location but I would not recommend anyone stay here.

Good experience, hostel was just 10 mins walk to times Square and 3 mins from Columbus circle. Hostel has separate shower and washroom for each room , rooms are shared but overall good experience.

DON’T STAY HERE. I’m trying to save as many guests as possible. Never experienced such unfriendly service. The story: Since I knew I would arrive very late (after midnight) I asked beforehand if the reception would be open. They assured me that they have a 24/7 reception and I should not worry. So, I arrived late and there was no one - FOR HOURS. I get, that you might go to toilet or whatever (her excuse was laundry - in the middle of the night, sure). There isn’t even a chair or something to relax or to wait. I also tried to call them with their phone (mine just got stolen) and the phone was dead… decoration really. Then she came AND YELLED AT ME. Ufff.. wow. She then checked me in. The bed was already occupied by another person, I just took another one. I also asked her to wake me up (again no phone), she said yes, she never did. Also: washingroom smelled of urine, no comfy common area, kitchen was kinda demolished (maybe renovation, idk). All in all a desaster. DON’T STAY THERE. It might be “cheap”, it might be at a great location, but it’s not worth it.

You get what you’re paying for, people! If you just need a place to sleep and keep your items safe... stay here! The location is phenomenal being so close to Central Park, Time Square, and the D-Line subway. You are also close to Lincoln Center for Performing Arts. If you want luxury, book a hotel! If you just need a bed for a cheap weekend trip, stay here! I felt safe for my whole stay!

The location and price isn't enough to justify staying here. The pics of common areas on hotels.com and Hostelworld were false advetsing. The water filter desperately needs to be changed (see pic). It barely let's out water and is on red. The place is filthy. I made the mistake of walking in my room in white socks, and they were black after half an hour. I think they just clean the bathrooms and call it a day. I didn't get a towel or blanket upon check in and they were being washed so I was told to wait an hour and kept going back to the front desk every hour, but no one was there. After 4 hours I decided to stay at the front desk until someone came bc there was a line of 5 people needing to check in. I wasted half a day in NYC waiting for a towel. The WORST thing about this place by far is the mattresses. I've never had more painful sleep in my life. After a red eye and full day of walking, their beds were like torture. I so would have rather taken a 5 minute train ride to the HI hostel, which is the same price.

I will stay another hostel next time for sure. You need to buy towel($5), NO hair dryer at all(even in the reception), NO curtain(only small half-sized curtain never enough to cover the window), NO shampoo(even the low quality ones), NO shared restroom(that you can use when ur room's is occupied cos shower booth and toilet is right next to each other), NO kitchhen, a sheet of cover TOO thin(if heating is not good, then at least a warm blanket should be provided). Nice staffs and clean bedroom, but they dont seem to be eager to fix the problem even with small things and it IS very uncomfortable.

Stayed on night, wouldn't do it again if it wasn't for the location. The location is enough for them to not fuix the issues guests seem to be having from other reviews. No towels were included even if it was promised online. Only 4 safeboxes in a room of 6 beds. No number to call when in need of staff/assistance. The numbers stated online are not in use. Waited 20 minutes to store my bag but had to leave with my bag because I was in a hurry and didn't know how long I would be waiting.

The location is great. The room only had a bright white bulb, it was difficult to sleep while the others arrive late and turned on the light.

Very nice hostel at a really good price! The staff is super kind and helpful and the rooms are standard hostel rooms. It has a really nice common area where you can get coffee and/or tea and sit down for a bit. Location is also great! We walked everywhere or took the subway, there’s plenty of lines nearby. Highly recommend it! 😊😊

I highly recommend not staying there. This was the most unsanitary and uncomfortable hostel I have ever stayed in. It was dirty and the bathrooms and other facilities were not good. The hostel is located on a main street, so the noise of the city is loud and uncomfortable at night. The receptionist was also very unprofessional and unprofessional.

room was hot and dirty. i don’t think they clean the room and bathroom daily because it’s always dirty whenever i come in. they have an amazing location, though. so yeah it’s a trade off.

Great staff, great location, good price, guys separated from girls, FREE BAGELS AND MUFFINS for breakfast!!! Awesome new showers in each room and most important close to all the metro stations, Time Square, Central Park and so much more! ♥️ I love it here and it's really clean. Maybe a tad cold in winter so bring in cozy PJs!!!!

Love 💘 the location and how many restaurants and CVS is Open 24 Hours. Nice hostel with Air Conditioner in the dorm room and the bed 🛌 is vary comfortable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful with information on the neighborhood of course. Definitely a great place to stay in Manhattan, New York 👌

One of the worthless hostel in New York. Receptionist wasn't available at the time of check in and after several calls, I was able to check in. No towel was provided. I was confirmed single bed as per my booking, however I was provided bunk bed. Toilet paper was finished as 4 people were in the room and since reception staff was not available, I couldn't request. Location is just 10 minutes away by walk from time square. No refund or compensation was provided as I end up checking out one day before due to pathetic service. Moreover, lockers does not had locks so you need to buy your own. which is was never been informed.

Lice alert!!! Highly recommend to stay away from this place. Got lice after staying there!!! Beside that, the place was extremly dirty! I got no expectation from cheap Hostel in new york - but the place was way too dirty! Really stay away from this place!

Location is good - really close to all the hustle bustle at the heart of the Manhattan city. Towels and toilet paper are provided on request at the reception. Shared rooms are a bit congested. Otherwise people were nice.

Normal hostel, the bed and the shower was bad. The rest, average. Only recommend if you are going to stay a few days, no more than 3 or 4.

  • 1/5 Benita S. 1 year ago on Google • 2 reviews
The rooms are dirty, the bathrooms are dirty, we had hole in the wall and they fixed it with putting towels inbetween. No tables in the room, the light is not working properly, the microwave is broken. The plugs are sketchy. For breakfast are not enough bagels. The shower only has light pressure, there is no real lobby. You can hear everything through the windows, even if they are closed and it’s very cold near the window, so if u sleep next to the window u get really cold. There are just super thin blankets in winter and in a 6 bed room are just 4 lockers. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO STAY HERE!!
