On Friday I chose to take my 5 year old here on a whim. It's not too far to travel. The online process to buy the tickets was quick. Once you get there, they scan the QR code from your tickets and you can walk straight in at the gate. If you buy their mask, you have to go to the window to get them, so we had to wait a couple of minutes on line. There's not a whole lot of animals, but there was still enough to see that my child was entertained. There is a gift shop and a little area to sit and eat, with a food truck (we didn't get anything, I btought our own snacks). There's also a little kiddie park outside the zoo with a carousel and some rides, but you need to buy tickets at the entry to be able to get on those rides. Also, bring quarters for the petting zoo! The animal snacks are in gumball machines. Overall, it was a nice Saturday afternoon outside.

This is a very cute little zoo. Emphasis on little but for the price, it’s worth it. If you’re not going with children or anyone who walks slower, you’ll probably get through both sides of the zoo in less than 2 hours. You have to order your tickets in advance online. The petting zoo is so cute! The plus to this zoo is that because it’s smaller, less people were there for a Saturday over the summer so you got a nice view of all the animals. The downside was they don’t have a large variety of animals and about some of the animals weren’t in their section like the Bear.

I wanted to try another quick and cheap options for a zoo to take my toddler and it was really good experience. My 3yo enjoyed a lot visiting all the animals there specially the Andean bear and feeding the farm animals. I recommend this place and plus your have a lot of places around to enjoy with your family and kids.

Great Experience! Takes about 2-3hours to walk the whole zoo. Its a small zoo but great for last minute trip or few hours of your day. Entrance fees were cheap. $10 for Adult and $7 for kids, entrance fee includes petting zoo admission. You can bring your own food. If you don't want to bring food, they have a food truck and cafeteria to buy food or snacks. My family had a blast. We were able to see a lot of the animals. They mostly enjoyed the big bird cage. Beautiful birds. No zoo parking only Street Parking. It can be a little difficult but people are always coming and going. Definitely recommend 👌🏼 !

The queens zoo is my favorite zoo in the city! It is just the right size to give you time with all the animals without rushing to see it all. The aviary building is honestly one of my favorite spaces in the entire city with the mesh geodesic dome and looping path up in the canopy making you find the birds and feel the worlds fair history of the park. The animals at the zoo all seem to have enough space in their enclosures and seem to be mentally and physically stimulated throughout the day. All signage is in both English and Spanish and all animals are from the Americas. Two great touches for the most diverse borough.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was a great experience! We bought our tickets online, as recommended, and there was no line upon arrival. We scanned our tickets at the counter and started our journey through the zoo. There's a map when you enter for convenience. All of the stations are well kept, spacious and we had no issues navigating. The aviary is not to be missed, it was beautiful seeing all of the birds together flying around freely. There are multiple bathrooms that are clean and spacious. The petting zoo area is very cute, keep in mind you'll have to scan your tickets again to enter. Also, to get food for the animals you will need coins or $1/$5 for the coin machine. There is no atm. Other than that, it's a great affordable way to spend a couple hours in the afternoon.

Just go, whether you're a local or a tourist. See the sea lions at feeding time (2pm is one such time). Plenty of other interesting animals to view, and a number of attractions are nearby. Buy your tickets in advance.

I took my parents here because they always wanted to see the Worlds Fair Globe and this was pretty close by. It's a nice small zoo, very clean, has cute animals and surprisingly a lot of animals too. We also got to see the sea lion feeding as well as go to the petting zoo

Took our 4 yr old here for his birthday. He loved it even though he kept asking where the monkeys were. The Aviary with all the birds was a sight. I did not like how poorly the Bisons looked. The sea lions were happy enough but seemed to need more room. Overall the zoo was very clean lots of room so as not to be on top of anyone.

For $10 this place is worth it! And it's perfect for my 5 year old to walk around on. I think bronx zoo was too big for him, queens zoo is just perfect. Living less than 2 miles is a plus too! Not sure why we never visited previously. Will definitely return here in the coming years!

I visited with my family of 5 on a Wednesday morning. We were there right when they opened at 10am and avoided the crowd. There is a lot of walking so make sure to wear comfy shoes. The zoo itself is very clean, not many animals but the ones there are adorable! The highlights are the American bald Eagles and the Lynx. The bear would have been nice to see but he was nowhere in sight. We bought souvenirs that were stuffed animals. (2 for $32) Magnets were ($4.00) Staff was friendly. Phillip, a staff member, played a nice game with the kids. There is a petting zoo area that is included in with the purchase of your zoo tickets. Food dispensers for the kids to feed the goats and llamas and also hand sanitizer stations. All in all, it was a nice little trip that we took from Long Island. We spent two hours here and as a family of 5 we spent $43.50 on the admission. Not bad at all!

Great family outing for a couple of hours. Staff are courteous. Zoo is clean and its an easy circuit around the zoo to the to each exhibit. Great for toddlers up to tweens. Getting there is tricky, if driving could be hard to find street parking. We took the subway, so not sure if there is public parking in the park. Public transportation is better but its a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Zoo from the subway. Enjoy!

Beautiful experience, not much walking since its not a big zoo, but perfect enough. Was a bit hot when watching the sea lion show, there's no shade There.

Very nice zoo with nice attractions and environment. Parking is limited so if you can take public transportation here, consider it. Price of admission is very cheap at $10 for adults. Will be able to see every attraction in no more than 2hrs here. Pros: exhibits, area is well spaced out, not overly crowded, price of admission Cons: somewhat small so don’t expect to be here more than 2hrs to be honest (I walked the whole zoo and domestic animal exhibit in 1.5hrs total), parking is difficult.

A very nice little zoo. This suit is located inside the park so you will need to find parking somewhere that may be difficult so if you can take public transportation. I was able to walk through the entire zoo in about an hour and a half two hours. It is pretty much covered the entire way under trees. I enjoyed the gardens as much as the animals there is a lot of care placed in both of those areas and it's very apparent.

Zoo is fantastic as always, they even have one of the robotic dinosaurs inside promoting the full exhibit at the Bronx zoo. Feeding the animals is always a kid hit especially with the little carnival that sits right outside the zoo and it's inexpensive. If that's not enough you can walk through the park which is beautiful in itself.

Street parking, in Queens, good luck, we spent 45 minutes looking/waiting for a parking spot. There's a separate amusement park right before the zoo entrance which just ruined our hopes of enjoying a nice day at the zoo because all the kids wanted was to skip the zoo entirely and just go to amusement to rides. They have restrooms at the entrance. There is a small petting zoo area where you can feed the goats etc for a fee at the coin operated food dispenser. I recommend going on a clear day as you have to walk in the trail and hope the animals are up & about. There is also an indoor bird arboretum where you have to walk up a slope to see the birds & there nests etc.

Spacious, lots of greenery and family friendly. There are not as many animals as a bigger zoo but they have a good variety and the animals look happy and healthy. This zoo is such a good deal. You can also bring food and eat at the Cafe area.

Very small but lovely quaint zoo. Could do with a few more exhibits in general. Due to the COVID situation, the indoor exhibits were mostly closed, but the ones open were fine. Zoo doesn't hold a candle to the behemoth that is the Bronx Zoo, or even the Central Park zoo, but it is a nice hidden gem tucked away in Queens. 'Twas my first time there and it is nestled with the lovely Corona Park. The whole surroundings are just splendid for a family outing.

Babys first Zoo trip went amazing. The fact that they arent as huge as the Bronx Zoo and have a petting Zoo and afterwards a few rides outside the Zoo is really what made this experience for everyone beyond amazing. The staff are polite and respectful. It was cute.

I won’t stop talking about this wonderful zoo and the Excellent service was provided to my family when we choose to celebrate a child’s birthday and invited his entire class and more. Frankie and his efficient staff has showed the best of NY. This place is a gem and so are Frankie and Maggy which handle with so much professionalism been caring and very pedagogical. The weather wasn’t good that day but Frankie handled it everything to make us feel comfortable and safe. We fed and pet the farm animals and walked around the zoo and enjoyed feeding of the California Sea Lions too. We had the best time ever!!! Now I want to celebrate my birthday there too! 🤗🥰 Thank you so much!!!

Such a great day. Went on a Thursday and arrived just after 12pm. The school buses were just loading the kids up and the zoo and petting zoo were both relatively empty. It was like we had the zoo to ourselves. My toddler really enjoyed the sealion feeding show and the bird sanctuary. It's the perfect sized zoo for a toddler to get nice and exhausted, and then go for a picnic/carousel ride after, and finally, followed by a nice nap.

A great zoo for toddlers! This was my 15 months old’s first zoo trip and the size of this place was not too big or too small. I went on a Wednesday where the weather was cloudy, so it wasn’t busy at all. The facility was clean and the petting zoo was very cute! It’s kinda sad to see how small some of these exhibits are though. Read about parking in advance! It’s best to park on 111th street.

Nice and clean but the down side it’s kinda small and no parking. If you don’t have a membership then you have to purchase a ticket which isn’t much compare to the Bronx zoo. You can also get a chance to feed some animals. Bronx and Central park zoo don’t offer that. Another good thing they have a food spot with ice cream trucks and some other cooked food right by the exit

Had so much fun here with my 2 toddlers (Ages 2 and 4) we went early during the weekday and it wasn't crowded at all, which we love. With the zoo tickets you also get access to the petting zoo (bring lots of quarters to feed the animals) small zoo but so nice. All the staff and volunteers were very friendly.

It’s a small zoo but well maintained and organized. Highly recommend family with kids under 8 years old. It’s relaxing to walk around the zoo with little kids, meanwhile look at animals. Big kids may get bored due to the size of the zoo and limited variety of animals. They also have a petting zoo, where the entrance is just opposite from the main entrance. My LO had a blast there. They practice so social distance and everyone needs to but timed tickets online.

Awesome place to go with little kids. It’s a small zoo but there’s plenty to see as well. Due to the pandemic you must have a reserve time to visit. Masks must be worn at all times, when I visited a group of women with their kids were escorted out because they wouldn’t put their masks on, be sure to follow the rules.

A small urban zoo with quite a few rescued animals and farm animals for hands on feeding. Easy to spend 2-3 hours with young kids. I love how they introduce the stories for each animal. The exhibits are spacious. About 10 minute walk from the 111 St station of the 7 train.

Had a great time at the Queens Zoo today! This zoo is the perfect size for young kids and parents not to get too tired. We got free street parking on Sunday, it takes 10 mins or so to walk to the zoo. It is so nice and shady and they have done a great job of making it a one-way loop to facilitate social distancing. Halfway thru is the cafe and shop which is all outdoors because of COVID. I wasn’t sure about the food options because their website doesn’t say much, so I uploaded a pic of their food options which is all in that Dasani fridge. They had sandwiches, ice cream, drinks, cookies, hummus, salads, baby food pouches, milk, chips, candy, etc. The sandwiches tasted good! I’m so happy I finally made it to this zoo, it was so nice.

Visiting the Queens Zoo makes me really appreciate the Bronx zoo. With that zing, there is nothing wrong here. Just a much smaller place. It’s set up as a large one-way circle. Probably less than 1 mile in length if you were to walk straight through. Pumas, bald eagles, parrots, seals, funny-looking bears. And a petting zoo at the end for the kiddies. Due to covid you can only buy tickets ahead online.

Nice zoo which is a bit small, but good enough to have lots of animals to look! Love the aviation area which is a big exhibition with all kinds of birds inside it which would fly around you! Also like the way how the zoo setup would make you feel like you are in part of the wildlife! The feeding farm animals area is also really fun to visit which has so many nice farm animals that you could touch and feed!

Queens Zoo is a pretty small zoo. Great for younger kids. It was clean and well taken care of. We parked and then had to walk about 10 minutes to the entrance. There were no signs pointing where to go to actually get to the entrance. The sea lion show was great and the petting zoo as well where you can feed the animals. There wasn't a large variety of animals but it was a pleasant way to spend an hour or 2.

Absolutely spectacular zoo. Highkey recommend for a day with family or on a date. Also has a cute petting zoo. Bring quarters so you can feed the animals. Wonderful variety of animals not so crowded like the bronx zoo and can see the whole thing in like less than 2 hours. The aviary is also absolutely spectacular and has so many birds and great for pictures.

Great place to see some wildlife in NYC. Adult admission is $10. There is one loop for wild animals and another loop for farm animals. The two bald eagles cannot fly as one of them was shot by a hunter and the other was hit by a plane.

Awesome place took my son to see the sea lion feeding at 2pm. Everything was great but the food truck ran out of most things by 2:30pm. I recommend bringing your own snacks if needed. All the animals were easy to view and it wasn’t too crowded which was good.

We had a great time at queens zoo! It is a beautiful little zoo with so many animals! Baby lynxs, bears, cougars, buffalo, and many more! Also the petting zoo is very nice! The zoo also has two clean bathrooms, a nice out door seating cafe, and free parking! Although there isn't much parking and I recommend coming half an hour to an hour earlier than your zoo designated time because it was very difficult to find a spot! Although the park is right there so you can just play there until its time to go in!

First time at Queens Zoo! Entrance via 111th street and 49th Avenue. Parking is very limited. No parking inside the Zoo available. Best option are public parking lots or street parking. The Zoo has a one way route to follow and explore the animals. The petting zoo has a great variety of animals. The Aviary dome is a nice feature where tropical birds can be observed in their natural habitat. The Zoo is small im comparison to the Bronx Zoo.The whole trip lasted 2 hours.

2020 Edit: Best Zoo in NYC for Social Distancing because everything is outside. Don't be afraid to go on a drizzly day or in the winter as the animals are more active in colder and wetter weather (as compared to in the summer). Small zoo perfect for a 1/2 day outing or for families with very small children. Typically quiet and usually doesn't attract large crowds. Also, the zoo is within a park and very close to several rides (carousel and small roller coaster). It is also walking distance from the NY Hall of Science and World Ice Pavilion.

Great place to bring your kids/babies. Easy to walk or use the stroller around and kids can observe/feed the animals. Very clean spaces and the staff is nice. Due to covid they asked you to buy tickets online, but we came on a week day (Thursday) and were able to purchase them on site.

Smallest of the 5 zoos but in my opinion no less. I think it's $10 to get in for adults. They host animals domestic to the North American region. When it is not as busy, the baby pumas came out to see the few visitors. They also have a wonderful aviary and petting zoo. The Cafe overlooks Bison enclosure which is an amazing feature. Try and go on a weekday when crowds are less.

The animals are cute as ever! Half of the zoo was closed and the staff was constantly popping up everywhere to make sure your mask was on at all times. Most of the bathrooms were not working and filthy. Overall, I wish I would have waited until the zoo was fully open and operational. The petting zoo part was open and by far the best part.

Awesome smaller zoo! We were able to find free parking. Admission was about $10 and there was also a petting zoo portion. It is a manageable size if you are not feeling up to tackling the Bronx Zoo. Everything requires advance tickets but we were able to get ours that same morning. Definitely worth it.

Found this place thanks to TripAdvisor/Group on. What a great little place with a good variety of Central Park Zoo Security. One of the few places where you can see a bald eagle up close and personal and a 2 toed sloth. It's a very intimate place and the staff is very caring. Definitely a good way to spend a couple of hours with the little ones.

I tried to get in to the zoo last year, and was reject because I was 17, and you need to be 18 or with an adult. I did not understand that, because it is a zoo, and zoos are child friendly. Other than that, the zoo was crowded, but the animals were interesting. It is a small zoo, and the displays show it.

Not a large zoo but good if you have little ones. There is separate side with farm animals that can be fed. In warmer weather there is a small area with carnival rides near zoo entrance. Close by to the science museum. Parking is hard as lots are small and fill up quick

We saw many animals that we didn't see in other zoos: like Southern Pudu(the smallest deer) Andean bears, pumas, alligators, pronghorns, many colorful birds, peccary, bald eagles! And the many species of plants like a Botanical Garden and Zoo combined, amazing place to go with the whole family

Nice small zoo if you are local to the area, comparable in size to the zoo in Brooklyn and Central Park. You could walk around the whole zoo in about an hour if you don't linger. I actually prefer the Queens Zoo over the Bronx Zoo since I have a young child. They have a petting zoo that's included with admission ($10 for adults, $7 for children). There's a tiny amusement park right next to it with a carousel that's good for little kids also.

  • 5/5 Samantha K. 2 years ago on Google
This was nice little zoo with a good set of animals to see beautiful wildlife and ample places to sit down relax and take pictures. There was even a little playground inside the zoo.We also were able to see the sea lion feeding. We went on a saturday at 3pm although there was a good amount of people there we were able to see everything and walk around without bumping into others.

Nice place to spend time and look for a fresh air outside. Everything is maintained, friendly staff and some of them stay and willing to explain in every turn when you walking through a specific animals which I appreciate that. 3 big sea lions welcomed us excitedly in a quite big pond, across the food trucks. The aviary flashed me back to Garden by the bay in Sg which I love. But I have more concern with 1 skinny Puma that I assumed he was starving by the way he leaked my Son off of a glass window. Birds, and animals farm snacks are ready in gumball machine for quarter dollar. One same online ticket can enter the Farm across but not to enter the Kiddie park. Overall my son was entertained

Very nice place to take you kids to. The most attractive thing is the Sea lion they have lunch time that's when the zoo keepers feeds them. Also, there have a nice little play ground for kids which is really nice for making your kids happy.

It's a small zoo but great for the price and access to the petting zoo. The Spectacled/Andean Bear is the highlight for me. I didn't see the baby bear, and I've heard that some people have visited when none of the bears were out. I don't know if they have a schedule for that but it's probably worth calling ahead if you are planning a trip.

Nice and big lay out, not many animals though. Lots of exhibits but very few animals. Also eat before coming here because the food vendor truck vendor is super expensive and took me 20min for a hot dog. Very nice to take a stroll through and it’s not expensive to enter. Free parking is also available. You get a real sense of nature.

Great little place to bring your family or if you just wanna walk around on a nice day. They also have a animal feeding area, which was a huge hit with the kids. Don’t forget to visit the Texas Longhorn cow. He’s such a sweetheart very gentle with the children. All the goats were super gentle. They even have a little pony and Llamas. The park is super super clean and every employee that I asked a question to it was very helpful. Definitely worth the money.

It's adorable. We were looking for something low impact and fun to do outdoors, and this place did that just fine. The petting zoo on the other side was a nice addition. They get 3 stars because I twisted my ankle in the bridge in the aviary. There is a smooth patch on the bridge where the rough gravel has worn off, I guess. I thought I was fine after it happened, so I didn't alert anyone, but now, 5 days later, I'm having moderate pain in that foot. So be careful on the bridge in the aviary, and hopefully they see this review and fix it before someone else gets seriously hurt. Picture of the bridge attached. We also saw practically no birds in there, which was a little disappointing.

It’s small, but that makes it great for an outing with toddlers. Lots of opportunities for feeding animals, and petting. They have some souvenirs and snacks/drinks bit not much in terms of food, a lot of tables around so you can bring your own food. I’d recommend for children up to 5yo.

This is our final stop on my NYC Zoo Tour and here’s the final review. Queens Zoo is another large zoo based in Queens, NY off the Flushing Main St. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite zoo experience in New York City for few reasons I’ll give here Space - Very large zoo but the enclosures are very distanced apart (I guess to preserve the sanity of the animals and noises) but I think there needs to be more animals in some of the exhibits… Aviary - I love an aviary filled with animals but this one seems to be lacking. There’s a very long walk which elevates into an arch that takes me way up but there are no animals to greet yo top, just a view of the waterway below filled with birds we’ve seen before on our zoo tour. Conservation - I love how the animals are being cared for within this space and the trainings being done to sustain their lives. On this zoo tour, we were able to see the elk being fed, the bear and the sea lions. However, I think greater efforts need to be made to show the conservation steps being taken by the zoo, if any. Entrance - the entrance from Flushing Meadows Park to the zoo is very long especially after a long train ride and walk from Brooklyn to the Zoo. There are a lot of animals within this zoo. I just wish there was a greater use of space. The petting zoo is my favorite part of this zoo. I recommend this zoo for all ages but please have time to do it and lots of energy.

Queens Zoo was amazing. Parking was a headache you have to park by the science museum. There wasn’t an ATM which was also a down side for purchasing foods beverages or treats. That leading to be able to feed animals at Queens Zoo. Purchasing tickets were amazing pricing were perfect. I booked my tickets online for 2. Perfect for a date as well, the stuff animals were a bit over price. Getting to see the water dogs was a bit hard getting to see the 4pm show other then that Me and my Gf enjoyed the day at the Queens Zoo i would give my experience 4.5 out of 5

The day I went some of the animals were not in their locations. It took me 20 minutes to tour the whole zoo and 10 minutes for the petting zoo. The kids said the zoo was wack. Luckily, I visited the museums nearby to make my trip coming out to Queens worth while. I visited 4 zoos in 4 boroughs, except for S.I. The Queens zoo has been the worst one for me! If your kids want more to do. There is an amusement park for toddlers behind the petting zoo. It's a separate fee.
