Nothing is bad here! The most important thing, as names, breads are fantastic here, and my fav thing here is oatmeal bread. They are getting new pastries every once in a while. The new strawberry tartlet was wonderful. The place is spacious, a lot of seating in the back for lunch, right in front of the kitchen where they make breads. Love here!

Following the list of sweets to try in NYC, my wife took us to Breads Bakery to have a babka. I must admit I had never had one before and I didn’t know what it was. In theory there are 2 flavors but the cinnamon one is seasonal so the only option we had was chocolate. The babka are prebaked and prepacked so I don’t consider them as fresh products. And you can’t buy a fresh one. We had ours the following day and I found it rather dry. Its taste was kind of neutral and, even if it was not bad, I can’t say I look forward to eating another one. Plus I think that $17 for something that neutral and prepared God knows how much time in advance is way too expensive. I try to stop by Breads every time I'm in the Union Square area. If you love being greeted by a whiff of delicious, buttery, freshly baked pastries, this spot is for you. I haven't had a bad thing from here and still have so many things to try. The babka is always a safe option but I usually go for the Rugelach if I'm by myself and want a smaller bite of something. There's also a seating area in the back that's great if you want a quick place to rest your legs from walking. Love this spot!

if you’re a New Yorker and haven’t had a Breads Bakery babka, you’re probably not an actual New Yorker! but you reply: “madman reviewer, i have no friends or family and can’t order one whole babka loaf for myself” and i say: a babka is good for 4-5 days after being baked. if you can’t finish one in a few days then you might NOT be a human! Breads is famously known for its babkas but i’d say that that the various baked loaves are also fantastic like the French Sourdough. Jerusalem bagels are also available here which i don’t see often. the bakery space is very clean and well-maintained. most of the freshly baked items are up front. in the back is the packaged salads and sandwiches as well as coffee area. the drip coffee is good especially paired with something sweet. don’t know if all the staff are involved baking operation but they are friendly and pretty knowledgeable. Breads Bakery is a carbs heaven for all.

Nice tasty bakery Very busy during weekends Breads Bakery has different branches. Heard so much about this bakery and we started going to this place. Not sure about the other branches but this one has very fresh stock always. They have different challahs, varieties of Babkas, handful options of breads (loafs and small bites), Loaf cakes (carrot cake, lemon cake, banana chocolate cake), croissants, brownies, cookies, Rugelach, Rolls, sandwiches, breadsticks, baguettes and many, many more They have some beverages available Clean and neat store. Staff are friendly and helpful. They maintain good hygiene levels. Our personal favorites are: chocolate Babka, plain and chocolate croissants, chocolate Rugelach, challah knot, garlic Parmesan bread sticks. Yet to try few more items. They have some lunch options too. Highly recommended place.

Love Breads Bakery! The bread is so fresh and tasty, and they have so many different options to try. Our only complaint is that it's a bit expensive (for example, ~$5 for a chocolate croissant), but I think the quality reflects the price.

Wonder bread This wonderful bready spread isn’t your average plain white wonder bread though. @breadsbakery makes insanely delicious pastries and bread, sweet or savory. For a @grabbdapp collab, they gave me a tour through the bakery, some treats to try in store, and an entire tote bag of goodies to go! It was a really cool experience! Be sure to grab them on the Grabbd app! Pictured: Delicious chocolate babka (Jewish bready, twisted, cake), sweet life gives you lemons cake, sugary cinnamon roll, perfect cheese danish, yummy chocolate rugelach (Jewish flakey, rolled pastry), the cute tote bag, palmier (I called them ‘elephant ears’ growing up), sourdough loaf. Everything was so good! Cheesy puns make me gooey on the inside @breadsbakery makes insanely delicious pastries and bread, sweet or savory. For a @grabbdapp collab, they gave me a tour through the bakery, some treats to try in store like fresh iced coffee and the egg and cheese sandwich on a delicious roll, and an entire tote bag of goodies to go (see previous post)! It was a really cool experience!

I got a croissant and the flavor was great but wasn't crispy, also was a really humid day. the price was ok for NYC $4.45. The service was ok.

Best croissants I've had in awhile. Go early cause they run out of stuff. It is pricey so be aware as it adds up! Really nice people work here. Also the mini croissants are reeally rich! I prefer the big croissants.

One of our favourite bakeries in the city! If you love oatmeal cookies you need to try it at Breads Bakery. Also the chocolate banana cake is super delicious too

Lined up for 10 mins. It was delicious but for me the chocolate babka was too sweet! The cinnamon roll was just okay. You can get the babka at Bryant Park as well

After reading a NY Times article and the bakery was recommended for Passover during my Sedar dinner, I knew I had to try it. The Matzah Brie is phenomenal! They had two flavors that day, artichoke and spinach and mushroom and herbs. I tried both, and they were both great! There were also a bunch of Passover cookies and even has of Haroset! If you want something delicious during Passover, this is a great and delightful bet!

They were out of the cauliflower steak sandwich when I arrived so I ordered the Brie and Olive sandwich which was yummy! Amazing bread (as promised). They had a bathroom available for customers which was clean and had soap and TP and everything. I also got a pain au chocolate which looks good. I’ll update this if it isn’t.. 🥐🥐🥐

Great bakery. Their cinnamon roll is amazing - super fluffy on the inside, crunchy sugar-cinnamon on the top. The babka is very fluffy and light, with chunky bits of chocolate (and hazelnut flavour?) on the inside. It's pretty sweet.

Iconic chocolate babka that I’ve been getting for years!! Perfect with some coffee, and tried a mushroom quiche as well which was addictive as heck. The pictures of the before and after can speak for themselves…

I'm a fan. Such a big fan. Everything from breads to pastries to coffee is perfect. Chef's kiss. The flakiest croissants and rugelach - your tongue will feel every layer. The savory puffs are as flaky and the best part is they're generously stuffed. You'll taste the filling in every single bite. Not greasy ever. They're known for breads and they do such justice! And the snappiest palmiers. So delicious. Haven't yet tried the pizza but saw numerous customers enjoy their pies heartily. So definitely coming back!

The chocolate babka is amazing. It is really good hot or cold. I had a friend send some over and it shipped fairly well on a plane.

This is my work lunch spot! The sandwiches, the bread, the salads and even their iced teas are so fresh. My happy place.

The salad there is the worst. Selling for over $15, it’s not even fresh or edible.

Breads Bakery's chocolate babka was absolutely amazing when I took my first bite, accompanied by a sip of milk. It had a delightful blend of sweetness and nuttiness. I visited the bakery around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, and to my delight, there was still an ample amount of chocolate babka available. It was priced at $16.95 for one and $30 for two. I'm eager to return to the bakery and explore other flavors.

Today was the first time I ate babka, and I now love eating babka. I ate one entire babka on my own today. I look forward to eating another one soon. Highly recommend to folks the chocolate babka.

Great lil place with delicious pastries. My favorite is the croissant with almonds. I also love the butter pecan cookies. The cookies melt in your mouth. I'm obsessed.

I love the aroma of bakery once i steped in the shop. It did not disappointed me. Ordered three items. Mushroom focaccia is my love. Tasty savory mushroom on top of soft and light crispy focaccia along with rosemary aroma. about $8. Highly recommended. The store may heatup the bakery item per customer request. Second, the spinach and feta pastry, layers of buttery flakes, tasty filling. yummy! about 2 for $6. Last but not least, the fresh baguette, cruchy outside and soft inside. It is perfect! 2 for $7. note: outdoor dinning with heater is available.

Their almond croissant is one of the most delightful things I’ve ever eaten. The pain au chocolate was very good, but just trust me. Get the almond croissant. Fab! James is adorable. Very friendly and helpful. My son and husband both had the cinnamon roll and a cookie and enjoyed them very much. I also got the tart with fresh berries which I haven’t eaten yet but I’m sure it will be amazing. (Ate it just now. Amazing!) I went back in and got the apple babka and another cinnamon roll and almond croissant to go because YUM!!! Thank you, James!! I will go home to Acworth, Ga and dream about almond croissants from Breads Bakery!

My frequent stop when around the area for both sweet and savory snacks. Today we tried the sandwiches too which were tasty. Especially like the eggplant and tomato one which has hummus in the sandwich. We also had the Jerusalem baguette that we'll definitely get again. It has a great bite and tons of sesame. The swiss muesli bun is also great which I had for breakfast the next day. The employees there are always super friendly and helpful. My husband can't have refined sugar and the employees could look up ingredients in the computer to clarify which options are safe for him to eat.

Breads is one fo the oldest and most prominent bakeries in the lower east side of Manhattan. Their bread is freshly made and they still use a starter dough from when they began their business many years ago. I’ve been visiting Breads for years and the chocolate babka (pictured) is always a delight. The staff are very kind and the atmosphere is conducive to work, casual meetings, or even just a coffee and a book. Be sure to visit and try the chocolate babka- it’s one of a kind!

Egg sandwich was delicious and the sesame bun was chewy. However, the mushroom quiche was cold in the center, even after I asked them to re-heat it again. Shout-out to the staff for accommodating and re-heating the quiche, but for $10 I recommend you buy their breads!

Great coffee and baked goods, as always. Dinging them a star for only offering single-use disposable cups and products as the default option. They did serve my cappuccino in a reusable mug upon request, but it should be the other way around: serving customers in plastic-free reusables should be the default option given growing awareness of climate change and the impact of single-use disposable waste on our environment.

I love everything from this place and have gifted the babka to many friends who all loved it too. Even when I moved away from the city I ordered it to be shipped to me. I will say that the recipe seems to have changed a bit. It feels smaller and dryer than it once was. Still pretty good though. Their spinach feta pastry and Jerusalem baguettes are also especially fantastic.
