How this place got so many good reviews is beyond me. Every time I gone there, the service was horrible. They are not friendly and just overall want you give them money and get out of the store. I gone in today for a black ice coffee, literally the easiest thing to order off the menu. The girl filled the cup to the brim with ice, when I said can you please put half ice, she chuck them out and filled the cup with zero ice, put the cup on the counter and turned her back. I will never return here again.

I absolutely love the coffee at Empire - but no matter how kind, respectful, and polite I treat their staff - I do not receive that same treatment back. The staff always have an attitude or just act blatantly rude almost every time I visit; and after I called to speak with a manager, she blamed it on the fact that they're "busy"...Unfortunately will be taking a break from this establishment; other local coffee establishments seem to have friendly workers, even with a line out the door - I would suggest to their management - maybe a customer service lesson regarding multi-tasking is necessary...no matter how busy you are, always treat customers with respect.

Easily the best (and cheapest!) coffee in Hoboken. Their pumpkin spice latte rivals Starbucks and is half the price. Don't know of anywhere else in the city where you can get a large cappuccino for only $4!

We had good coffee and latte. We also had fun getting introduced to their roasted coffee beans. It's a nice and unique place to visit.

I had an amazing experience at "Empire Coffee & Tea"! This café and coffee roaster is a coffee lover's dream come true. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, and helped me pick out the perfect espresso machine and coffee for my home. They clearly know their stuff and are passionate about coffee, which made for such an enjoyable and educational experience. Although I haven't had the chance to try the coffee at home yet, I have no doubt that it will be amazing given the high-quality beans and expert advice. The café itself was cozy and inviting, with a great selection of treats to enjoy with your coffee. I'm so excited to start brewing my new coffee and can't wait to come back to "Empire Coffee & Tea" for more. If you're a coffee enthusiast, you simply must visit this place!

Coffee is good; staff need customer service training. I should not feel like I’m bothering the staff when I walk in to buy coffee. Update: owner reached out for more info, that’s good enough for another star imo. They are not rude or disrespectful, but also not welcoming and pleasant. It’s a very transactional experience, unlike what you would expect from the neighborhood coffee shop. It was mid morning over the weekend.

I got my first coffee here today and the experience was LOVELY. Not only do you walk in and get a nice waft of coffee smell but the workers are lovely. They helped me pick the best drink and let me say it was delicious. Definitely coming back here to try all their flavors

I don’t understand how so many people praise their coffee beans. People must be impressed by the wide variety and think “oh, if they have many beans on display like this, they must be good.” No. This is a big red flag. The beans should not be exposed to so much air. It ruins the coffee. Second, you can judge a coffee place by their espresso, and their espresso is god awful. Zero crema, which is the foam on top, and there are coffee grounds at the bottom. I didn’t order a Turkish coffee so I don’t expect one. And the flavor of the coffee is terrible. I think they served the Hoboken blend. I do not recommend this place at all for people who understand how to value coffee. However, for the average person who doesn’t care too much about the coffee, go for it. It isn’t horrible and the atmosphere is nice.

Best coffee beans i've ever had. The selection is incredible and the beans area always fresh. The experience from start to finish is also like none other. Additionally the Decaf selection is amazing. You can never find the amount of decaf flavors normally but they offer so many!

Their Chai is so good! It always smells amazing inside. They have such great varieties of coffee, the packaged teas are incredible too, and even great chocolates.

Looking for some special Tea or really bespoke coffee beans? This is your place .. tucked in the corner it’s a beautiful store. They have coffee mugs and lots of coffee/tea related supplies. I highly recommend their rose hip tea and sencha… the staff is super friendly and always greet you with a smile 😊.. I love this store and I have stopped buying the tea bags.

It was really great experience visiting this coffee place. They not only sell coffee but variety of beens as well.! Very welcoming people and awesome vibe.!

Would give one star but at least their prices reflect the quality of their product. Like other reviews have stated on here, if you leave coffee exposed to oxygen, it rapidly undergoes a chemical change that drastically alters its flavor. Not to mention, the bags of beans are borderline sitting on the floor. Staff is clueless and borderline rude. They don’t know how to make matcha, a dirty chai or how to steam milk. Whoever the owner here is should spend less time scouring Google reviews to pinpoint the date and time in which poor customer service was given, and focus on properly training their employees in the first place. There are plenty of great coffee shops in Hoboken, and this is not one of them. Try Hidden Grounds, only a few blocks away!

Friendly service with dozens of delicious coffee bean options at a reasonable price. They also have a nice selection of goodies like muffins, cookies, and chocolate pretzels. Great location near the park and really nice atmosphere inside.

Love this place. It is a Hoboken staple. So many amazing varieties of coffee. The Mexican spiced ice coffee is amazing and one of my favorites. Also, low key their blueberry muffins are bomb!

Love getting my beans from here! A lb usually ranges from $11-$13. They have flavored, regular, or decaf. Smells wonderful in the store. The iced coffee is average but not as strong or caffeinated as a Starbucks.
