We visited this black centric establishment on Friday, August 12, 2022. I purchased tickets online in advance prior to. This business is located in the Queens borough of New York. There was a life-size standing figure of Louis Armstrong right outside of the museum. Upon early arrival, we checked in and verified a reservation with the staff. We had to show our proof of vaccination, which was sufficient. In the front, they do have a gift shop area where they sell various items pertaining to Louis Armstrong. It was a bit early when we arrived, so we were allowed to view the exhibit in the back room. The exhibit featured photos of Louis Armstrong with his wife and other celebrities. Also there was actual clothing of Louis Armstrong including his famous bathrobe. Also they had his actual trumpet that he played on display. Outside of the museum, there’s a beautiful sprawling garden which is full of greenery and flowers. There is also a small fountain with a patio area. We learned the garden is now utilized for musical and community events. All of the staff was nice, professional, and welcoming. Once the tour began, we entered Louis Armstrong‘s house which has a really nice brick stoop. We were not allowed to take photographs inside of the home. Therefore, I don’t have any photos to post of the interior out of respect for the museum and Louis Armstrong. All of the furnishings in the home were simply beautiful. There were many priceless Louis Armstrong artifacts in the home he collected and was bestowed. Some of the pieces were even timeless and would be relevant to this day. The house was not very big, but it did have a lot of treasures. The bottom floor had a sprawling den with beautiful beige and neutral furnishings. It included hints of glam with opulent chandeliers. The bathroom downstairs was fully mirrored and had touches of gold. There’s also a picture of Louis Armstrong in his famous bathrobe in this bathroom. The tour guide stated that he could see his smile from everywhere in the room. The tour guide was very professional and knowledgeable. She provided us fun facts on Louis Armstrong. In several of the rooms we were able to hear recordings of Louis Armstrong and his wife Lucille. They stayed together until his death in the 1970s. The kitchen was also very beautiful! It had blue laminate wood cabinets, a 6 burner gas stove, and mini special touches. Also they had wonderful unique custom-made things. This included a custom-made stove and refrigerator. The dining room area had an Asian inspired theme. It also featured a lot of mirrored elements. It was well put together and maintained. The tour guide stated the Armstrongs loved to entertain and have people in their home. They also had a small breakfast nook on this floor. A lot of their rooms had matching elements and themes. The tour guide did show us the stair chair that Louis Armstrong used to get up and down the stairs. She stated this was due to him having had a pretty serious heart attack after several prior to. Once we entered upstairs, the master bedroom was very nice and featured a prayer area for Lucille. The restroom up here was also very sprawling and nice. It had touches of glamorous elements. This included nice chandeliers, nice wallpaper, and other elements. The best room in the house was definitely Luis‘s den. He did a lot of his recordings and organized archives of his music in here. We also heard recordings of Louis Armstrong playing the trumpet in his room and speaking about his catalog of archives. He stressed the importance of being open to embracing different types of music and people. The tour guide stated that Louis Armstrong fully embraced his community, the people, and the place that is Corona Queens. He was a man of his neighborhood and enjoyed touring the world and spreading his music. He seemed to always have a smile on his face with a joyous bright personality. I would recommend this museum to everyone in New York that would like to visit. The museum will be opening an education center across the street with a jazz venue in Fall 2022.

We didn't see much in the house, but attended and enjoyed the jazz musical concert in the backyard during a school trip. The band was awesome. Free event on 6/18/22.

I am happy I made it to @louisarmstronghouse to see this wonderful @nduduzomakhathini Trio for the first time! It was so amazing! I toured the lovely Armstrong home, and it was sentimental. The tour guide was a wonderful storyteller. After being up nearly 24 hrs between my third shift job and flying in, it was worth every kilometer traveled in zombie mode. LOL, I wish you and your band much continued success. 🌍🙏🏾❤️😁

It is a unique place. They have recordings of Louis's day to day life. You can see how he lived and and his all important wife lived. Walk through the community which inspired What A Wonderful World. A chance to see the real New York that exists outside the over priced Manhattan tourist trap. Easy walk to the USOpen/SHEA Stadium, Flushing- Chinatown area.

We went to the Louis Armstrong's birthday celebration on July 4th. Great big band concert, rice and beans, and cake. The house museum is amazing to see Armstrong's legacy.

What a gem. A must see museum. The house is preserved as it was when Louis and Lucille we're alive. The Museum is really well curated. You can hear all his recordings plus there is a lot of film footage. Only thing would be good if the guides were African American and knew something about Louis Armstrong rather than reading their notes. We took the subway from Manhattan.

I give the Louis Armstrong House Museum located at 34-56 107th St, Corona, NY 11368 FIVE stars. I never knew that I was staying so close to the home of LOUIS ARMSTING as I was in Queens NY. But I do know that ARMSTONG was an amazimg American trumpeter, vocalist. Was such a great experience visiting his home. 5️⃣ ⭐ 🏠 🎺 .

The Louis Armstrong House Museum is an absolute superb museum that celebrates and honors the amazing life and legacy of jazz entertainer, Louis Armstrong. In celebration of Black History, I brought and treated myself and my wife for a guided tour of the Louis Armstrong House Museum in February of 2018. During our tour, both my wife and I learned that the museum was formerly the home of Louise Armstrong and that he resided there along with his wife, Lucille from 1943 until his death in 1971. We were also able to view the many of the home’s rooms, extensive furnishings, memorabilia of the Armstrongs. What my wife and I found most enjoyable were the voice recordings of Louis Armstrong. In these recordings, Armstrong shares his thoughts on his house, his neighborhood and of course, his wonderful music. Both my wife and I highly enjoyed our guided tour definitely recommend for others to visit and tour this wonderful National Historic Landmark!!!

This is a hidden gem! Was thrilled that my friends discovered this place. We had a wonderful time in the house and at the museum next door. Very casual tour. Very informative. Tickets could be bought ahead of time and you reserve a spot for your tour. So there's no waiting.

Outstanding opportunity to tour in a small group and see where Louis Armstrong and his last wife, Lucille, lived until they passed. Great tour guide knowledgeable about the collection and Louis and Lucille's biographies; the chance to listen to tapes of Louis talking that he made at home on his reel-to-reel. And now across the street, a newly opened (two months ago, as of September 2023) museum with artifacts and digitized archives that contribute so much to the experience. I'll be returning there for sure, and it seems as though they are continuing to renovate the house (basement now) and add to what's viewable from the archives. An American treausre.

Louis Armstrong's fourth wife Lucille bout this house in Crotona, Queens, and he lived here for the rest of his life. It is now a landmark building, and serves as a museum dedicated to the great musician. You learn a lot about Louis Armstrong here, and you will learn even more when the Louis Armstrong centre across the street opens in 2020. But what is really fascinating with this house is Lucille Armstrong's amazing gift as an interior designer. Also, you'll see a more private side of the artist, highly loved by the kids of the neighborhood. A must see for Armstrong fans, but also for people interested in american culture and histoey in general.

Worth the trip to Corona to learn about how a great American musician lived his everyday life. Tour is about one hour. Book your tickets online before visiting to ensure that you get a spot. About 7 minute walk from the 7 train. Lots of great places to eat after the tour before you get back on the subway.

Such a historical place in a very unlikely neighborhood! What a great place to visit and learn about the life of Louis Armstrong and how he felt most comfortable living like everyone else and having that huge sense of community. Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon in my lovely home borough of Queens!

The delight of passing your hands over the same bannister that Mr Armstrong used to steady his ascent and descent within the intimate proportions of his house cannot be underestimated. The fact that he chose to stay in the modest neighbourhood of Corona in Queens, New York was divine inspiration. I recommend this immersive experience of the man and his philosophy with no reservation.

I wish there were more than five stars that I could give this place. It isn't hard to get to, is very reasonably priced and you get to be right in Satchmo's house! You know something in New York City is worth visiting when everyone else in the tour group is local, some even from the very neighborhood. Don't skip this! Tip: visit on a Saturday afternoon and combine your trip to Corona with an evening at the Queens Night Market only a few blocks away.

There can be no argument that Louis Armstrong was a Royal. As the King of Jazz, Armstrong could have lived in palaces anywhere in the world. His wife bought this house eight months before he set foot into it. Once he did, he was home and didn't want to leave. He made a life here and enjoyed the working class neighbors he was surrounded by. He was inspired by this place to write "It's a Wonderful Life". This very public man never let his fame go to his head like so many others. I just returned from a tour of this very modest house in the middle of Queens, off the beaten track. I have been smiling since and wanted to share my joy with you. Just as he shared his joy with us. If you get a chance, drop into Louis' house. (I hope you are lucky enough to get Jovan as your tour guide.)

Such a hidden gem! It was nice taking a tour of this beautiful house and taking a look inside the life of the great Louis Armstrong. Our tour guide Brian was very knowledgeable and good at his job. My favorite part of the house was definitely the kitchen and the garden, definitely a must see. It was also great hearing recordings of Louis Armstrong and his wife having conversations around the house.

It is the tour of the house by a knowledgeable and passionate guide that made today’s visit truly unforgettable! Loved the guide’s vision and narration, sort of a look at the artist from a more intimate, personal stand, and especially enjoyed her acknowledgement of Lucille’s role in the story. I could really feel the guide’s deep care for the place. As a plus - an interesting neighbourhood to wander around after the visit.

This was a wonderful experience. We went on a class trip. The tour is very intimate to allow efficiency. The host was knowledgeable and able to answer questions that were not included in the presentation since the tour was concise due to the age of the children. The home and the museum are preserved nicely, and I appreciated the updates to the home so that we could hear certain things in each room, accompanied by photos.

Was looking forward to the feel of the holidays at the Louis Armstrong House. Guide seemed unhappy and that made the experience unwelcoming. Have been several times before and was looking to feel some of Pops' joy , but that was not apparent today. The house itself is worth a visit.

Interesting to see the house but unfortunately the guide, while knowledgeable about furnishings and some aspects of Armstrong's home life, totally avoided all reference to the racism he experienced and struggled against as if it were not an issue, or important to highlight. This was not acceptable

If you’re a fan of Louis Armstrong, this is a must-go. Armstrong lived in this house from 1943 until his death. It’s full of memorabilia and the guided tours are excellent. You even get to hear private recordings made by Satchmo himself. Getting there is simple as the house is within a short walk from the Corona, Queens stop of the No. 7 subway line.

Ever since my jazz-loving husband read about touring the Armstrong House in Queens he has always wanted to visit and so we did during a long road trip to NYC - we very much enjoyed seeing Mr. Armstrong's cozy, modest retreat (a tasteful serene time capsule from mid-century America) and I got some great ideas for using wallpaper! Mrs. Armstrong did a fantastic job selecting furnishings which fit perfectly in the small rooms. The bright blue galley kitchen has a timeless look with its clean lines and sleek surfaces - very inviting to serious cooks. The Armstrongs had what is perhaps one of the earliest staircase seat elevators to reach the 2d floor - disabled visitors should know that this staircase is very narrow and steep (and the vintage elevator is not available for visitors' use). Our tour concluded outside in the very well landscaped garden - what a wonderful world! Our tour began with a brief film and explanation of how Louis was surprised by his smart, practical wife into living there - and loving it. After our visit, we went to the boutique where my husband bought a few more of Louis Armstrong's recordings to add to his collection. Very enjoyable and well worth any music-lover's time. Oh, and across the street, is new construction which will eventually house the archives and awards concerning Mr. Armstrong's career.
