I craved vegan dim sum. I am glad I went to this restaurant which serves everything vegan in Chinatown. The vegan dishes are tasty and affordable. They also come in smaller plates. So it's perfect for someone who dines alone to try more dishes. I enjoyed everything I ordered.

Dined here several times many years ago and just returned yesterday. The experience continues to be great if not better! Especially shout out to the short hair lady with glasses who was amazing. She really made sure the food fit my husband's dietary restriction of no refined sugar which is challenging for most Chinese/East Asian restaurants. She even brought us tamari soy sauce that's sugar free. All the dim sum options were great and the best in my view among all the vegetarian dim sum restaurants. The vegetable dumplings had tons of fillings. Taro dumplings both steamed and fried options had great savory flavors. Only the lotus pancakes were a bit greasy and less interesting. Highly recommend this place!

My wife and I walked in to Bodhi on a Monday afternoon around 1 to a relatively quite restaurant to try out some vegan Chinese food. We were seated right away and given 4 different menus, one where you could simply mark your Dim Sum order. We ordered Steamed Curry Dumpling ($4.75), Steamed Veg Shrimp Dumpling ($4.75), and BBQ Veg Meat ($8.75) - all were amazing especially the BBQ Veg Meat where they somehow managed to give, what we felt Tofu Skin, a very roasted duck kind of a taste. The Veg Shrimp dumpling also had that "fishy" taste, with no animal protein what so ever! For mains, we ordered from their Lunch Special menu and got Chicken Lo Mein Fun ($8.50) with Hot and Sour Soup, and also ordered Lamb in Garlic Sauce with Spring Roll as our side. Both were excellent and the "Chicken" in our Lo Mein which was fried Tofu, was the best Tofu we ever tasted. So flavorful and for a change, Tofu did not feel like consuming cardboard! The Lamb too was excellent where lamb pieces I think were replicated by Soy and the sauce was very flavorful. Service was excellent, food arrived quickly, and probably one of the most reasonably priced Vegetarian restaurant I have been to in Manhattan. Will definitely visit again with friends and family and will also highly recommend this place for Vegetarians, recently converted vegetarians, and vegans!

One of my favorite restaurants ever in New York city! Simply a vegan paradise for everyone but especially who loves Chinese food and who doesn’t? Every time I try something different! But I have to say my favorite are the lemon chicken, which is a vegan Fried lemon chicken covered in a lemony sweet sauce - I can’t explain in words how good it is! All the buns !!! Last time I tried the whole west ones and it’s just amazing! And what about the wonton soup? Probably the best I’ve ever tried in my life / the service is just great and they all are very friendly and kind!! My go to !! Please visit

We dropped my fiancée's family at the airport and by chance of faith arrived here. It was soon to be clear that destiny had sent us here. The dumplings were delightful. And she sure do likes dumplings, I'll tell ya that. We enjoyed the place, warm tea was served complementary and the atmosphere was cozy. We are very well and the bill was under $40. (That's wild) we'll be back.

I’ve had many kinds of vegetarian meatless meat dishes. This restaurant tries hard, but I’ve had better. The fried rice with chicken was fantastic. The shrimp dim sum didn’t really have the feel or taste of shrimp. Also the mabo tutu had way too much tongue-numbing spice in it. I didn’t enjoy it at all.

Came here on a Sunday night and it was decently packed with people. They have dividers inside and the tables are pretty spread apart so that was nice. We got the sweet and sour fish, BBQ vegetarian meat chow fun, and tofu with mushroom and basil. I will say the portions are huge. I really enjoyed the BBQ meat cause it had the same flavor as regular char siu. I might have enjoyed it than the actual meat version! The noodles were perfectly cooked and had the nice "wok hay" flavor. The fish surprisingly looked like a fish and the taste was great. I would recommend getting a side of rice for the sauce. The tofu dish was nice as well with lots of veggies. I'm curious to see what they dim sum is like, but a great place overall to get authentic, vegetarian Chinese food.

Reasonable price for an amazing dim sum experience. All dishes are VEGAN and it’s hard to tell. The food actually tastes like meat but they are not! Try to visit during lunch special hr.

A word of caution: their suggested tips are based on the taxed amount, which needs to be corrected. As for the food, the tofu with mushrooms and basil lunch special was quite good. You could really taste the fresh basil. Pass on the wonton soup that comes with it (lacks flavor and the wonton skin is too thick and chewy). The bean curd roll, though steamed and with a lot of sauce, surprisingly had a dry texture.

I travel a fair amount for work and this is in my top 3 favorite vegan restaurants. I had not eaten dim sum since going vegan about 5 years ago. I’ll admit it, I went here for dinner 2 consecutive days and I’m not ashamed. This place is awesome!

(March 17, 2023) I tried this restaurant on my way back after a hair-cut in the China Town saloon. A vegetarian Chinese restaurant! A cuisine that has all possible kinds of meat, but I can order anything from their menu, it felt surreal. I was given a pot of tea on-the-house -- warm, watery, and nice. I had the veg clear soup, and veg dumplings. They were all good. The chopsticks, bamboo wooden boxes and the peengan (ceramic) give a nice Chinese feeling. I surely want to go here again.

Food and service is very well. Highly rated!!! I am not a vegetarian but my mom is. Ever since we discovered this restaurant we are coming here. The 2nd time was actually my idea to come because the food is so good. My brother like to come here also and have good comments on it. We all came from the Mott Street Veg restaurant but this one is much better.

I love bringing people to this place! It always blows them away. Everything is so delicious. The staff is always kind. It’s always great to go with a group of people and order a bunch of different things and share it. You absolutely have to get the BBQ veg meat dim sum dish!

This place is a gem! The BBQ meat is my ultimate favorite. I like to go during the week 11a-4p for the lunch special price! The service is always quick and friendly, I love this place because it’s so yummy, quick with great service and the best prices! I usually can get in and out in twenty minutes, which is perfect when I’m hungry and rushing to work in midtown! Highly recommend.

This vegan oasis in Chinatown is special in many ways, the food is delicious, super nice waiters, the price is fair and there’s a very cozy informal vibe that will make you feel like coming back again. Try out different food choices but do no miss the BBQ veg meat!

Love this place. I’ve been eating here for years and the food is great and dependable. Their eggplant with garlic sauce and Buddha’s delight are delicious. I always have to order the turnip cake, but also really enjoy their veg char sui steamed buns. It’s the best vegetarian Chinese restaurant in the area. Good prices and generous portions. Need I say more?

So glad I found this spot in Chinatown! If you’re vegetarian, you shouldn’t miss on this spot! Food is great. We had a bunch of different dim sum and a few mains. Fairly cheap (as expected for the area). The staff is nice but I only missed some music for the atmosphere. Other than that, I’ll be back again!

Highly recommend for those looking for vegan chinese food. Located in china town on Mulberry st. Plenty of choice in both appetizers as well as noodles and/or rice dishes. Their main dish servings are pretty good size, can choose appetizers dim sum style for sampling. Overall reasonably priced with decent ambience. Service is okay, it was bit noisey with some repair work etc. Tried Lotus Root Pan cake (good), Steamed Buddha's Bean Curd Roll (good), Fried Buddha's Spring Roll (ok). Liked Shredded Veg Chicken Lo Mein with bean sprouts, veggies and soy strips (good) and Braised Soybeen Skin w/veggies.

We loved this restaurant! For anyone who hasn’t tried chinese vegetarian food before, they need to get on it because it is so delicious and unique. This place offered a great selection of dim sum and entree dishes, all vegetarian! We were pleasantly surprised by how many people dined here on a weeknight and we understood why after we tried the food. The service was also super friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed eating here. Would highly recommend!

The rice roll is a bit thick and too little veggies. The congee has separate water and rice. Other dishes are good.

Awesome experience! Everything is completely vegan and delicious (even for the nonvegans). We had a group of 7 and they took us to a really nice table in the back. Portion sizes are really big and great prices! Easily split by 2 people. Free tea on the house and plenty of good options. Definitely recommend!

The place was very busy when I got in at around 3:05pm on a Monday. Not too bad. For Dinner, I had the BBQ Veg Meat with Fried Taro Dumplings and both of them were Delicious. The servers were very Nice and Friendly. I spent under $20. That was a Smash! Definitely stop by this place because they have a wide variety of Vegan and Gluten Free Options. 50+ of the Item Menu.

Exactly what I needed on a grey, rainy Winter afternoon. The space gleams with a sense of nostalgia and is perfect for a meditative solo outing. As a newly baptized vegetarian/vegan, I’ve been searching for good veg restaurants in the city. I wouldn’t restrict, or trivialize, the food at Bodhi to merely vegetarian eats, but rather just great soulful nourishments that happen to be veggie based. I had 4-5 dim sum items, certainly too much food for one but I had to try as much as possible. Everything was great and made with a delicate touch. The veg BBQ meat was tender and unique, in between a mushroom and jerky. I can see Bodhi as one of those 6-7 restaurants that I return to with close friends and family the rest of my life.

Simply amazing! We are vegetarians and walking New York we didn’t know where to go. We found in China town this hidden Spot. The food it’s unbelievable and the amount of options and flavors is to die for. The attention is impecable! you can enjoy their smiles ( under the masks) and the patience they have to explain each dish. Definitely we are Coming back!

We were pretty excited to try this and Bodhi did not disappoint. I love that they have dimsum all day and it’s the best vegan dimsum I’ve ever had. Ones we tried and pictured are snowpea rice rolls, beef rice rolls, cha siu bao (steamed pork buns), fried taro, home dumplings, watercress dumplings, snowpea dumplings, steamed black bean ribs, steamed bean curd chicken rolls, salt and pepper ribs. Everything was delicious and the staff was very nice. I look forward to going back again.

I've been wanting to come to this place for years and finally took the opportunity to do so. I think I first read about it or saw it somewhere but I can say that it was definitely worth it. The food is moderately priced with good portions. The faux meats were excellent. We got a serving of General Tsao's chikin which was almost indistinguishable from real chicken. I'd recommend giving it a shot of you are a vegan, vegetarian or just someone willing to try some alternate foods.

Incredible. Amazing. No words. I lived in Beijing for a year. I love Chinese cuisine but now I'm vegeterian so I can't try as many Chinese dishes as I'd like. Today you have brought me back so many memories... Thank you.

The laksha noodle was excellent 👌... you may add more spice if you wish, but the default is already nice. It has the light curry taste with a bit sweetness and surely mild hotness. One of the waiter can speak Malay BTW 😊 ...cute place good food nice people

I only wish I grabbed more dim sum to eat later… (did not get a chance to take pictures of my pan fried dumplings because they were gone in seconds). Definetly worth the visit, deliciously seasoned food and super quick and courteous service. Don’t forget to try their chili oil, super spicy but so worth it. A must go in Chinatown!

My first time I could actually have dim sum!!! This place was SO GOOD! Our local friend ordered for us, and it seemed like a lot but ended up perfect for 3 hungry people. My meat-eating husband even liked it! 👍🏼 The service was pretty quick--food came out one after another and dishes were pulled as soon as they were empty.

Right now this is my favorite Asian restaurant in NYC. I am mostly vegan and this place is great for that, the food in wonderful, I have been here several times and it never disappoints. It is also right in Chinatown.

Vegan eats review: My favorite spot for classic dim sum and Cantonese style cuisine Today’s eats included: Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings (complete accident due to a miss check but turned into my little dessert) Steamed Veg Shrimp Dumpling (Gluten Free) Steamed Buddha's Bean Curd Roll 3pc You really can’t go wrong with anything here. Healthy portions for the full dishes too. In the past I have been able to bring leftovers home for a second meal with the noodle and rice dishes.

I’m beyond happy I finally paid a visit to Bodhi, as it had been on my list for a very long time. I’m so happy that I can eat everything from my younger (meat eating) dim sum days, but it not actually being real meat! The dim sum pastries are delicious and generous as you get 3 of each per order! I had the: - sweet sticky rice with coconut ($5.25) - sweet sticky rice sesame ball ($5.25) - vegetarian meat pastry ($5.95) - cha shui bao ($5.95) All 4 pastries are sooo good! For the appetizer we had the: - appetizer platter ($24.95) I honestly regretted ordering this, because out of everything I only truly enjoyed the vegetarian beef jerky (amazing!!!). So I won’t be ordering the platter next time, I’ll be going straight to the “bbq vegetable meat” instead now knowing how close it tastes to the meat version. For the main we had the: - soy sauce noodle honk kong style ($14.95) this is my favorite noodle going all the way back to my meat eating days. It doesn’t come with vegetarian meat topping options unfortunately, that would’ve made this even more perfect! But this noodle can hold its own for sure, so I won’t be complaining any further! Service was super sweet and fast! The restaurant and its restrooms are clean enough, pristine even for it being Chinatown! I already cannot wait to come back and try the other dim sum pastries, appetizers and mains! I get to eat my Asian childhood foods at an affordable pricing as a vegetarian, a dream come true! Thank you Bodhi for existing!!!

It could be one of the best food I have ever eaten! The food is delicious and the appetizers very yummy. Even though it is a little bit more expensive than other restaurants in Chinatown, it worths!!!
