We found the place to be okay ish. The food was okay, ambience was okay and the service was okay. Though there were a lot of vegan options to choose from. They have a pretty elaborate menu and a lot of variety. The place is a little tight but we easily got in, no prior reservation was required on a weekday. We ordered Roti Canai which comes with a chicken and potato coconut curry. It was just fine, could have been a lot better. Also wanted to try the famous Barbecue buffalo wings, they were decent. The chicken skin was actually crispy and had a crunch to it. The dish was quite filling and a whole meal in itself but something still felt incomplete. May be a little spicy sauce would have made it a complete 10/10. The main course options are full with so many varieties, you'll probably get confused. We narrowed down upon Spicy chicken with broccoli and it was hands down the best dish of the night. The chicken had a good bite to it and the wok fried vegetables topped with peanuts went perfect together. This dish was the highlight of the table and the restaurant deserves +1 star solely because of this dish. The place is a decent one-time experience for vegan food and one can give it a shot if you are in the nearby area.

We have been eating here every time we come to NYC for years. It is great vegan food that taste like not vegan food. We love the fake fried chicken. My son got fake ribs. We live in Ohio so it is rare we get good vegan food. The mashed potatoes were a little hard and lumpy and we did not live the collard greens but we really go for the fake meat anyway. We were super happy. 12 year old son stuffed himself and is very happy.

Discreet vegan spot that offers alternative flavors to the foods you know and love. Service was nice and attentive to our needs. The Sweet and Sour Chicken and Bamboo Curry were on par with each other but I felt like they tasted better the first time I ate Red Bamboo a couple of years ago.. I’m left somewhat conflicted in whether I’d come back.

I remember eating these things over 10 years ago. When I used to come visit New York City before I lived here I thought these were all the rage. I don't know if my taste buds have changed or the product has changed but they tasted a bit different. The food was still great and I would definitely eat that again but I remember it having a different texture underneath the breaded part. I think these are still phenomenal I just reminisce about what I recall from 10 years ago. Overall this is a cool spot to check out if you're ever in the area cuz they have a ton of other food I didn't get to taste much other than the crispy soul chicken

Great tasting food. It even looks close to the real thing. Buffalo chicken wings is a must. It's a cozy area with great customer service, I would definitely come back here again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The packaging didn't make the food look too great but once I had a bite I knew I'd have to try more from their menu. I had the breakfast sandwich which I absolutely did enjoy, and my girlfriend had the chicken cutlet sandwich with daiya cheddar cheese. The breakfast sandwich was tasty but the chicken cutlet sandwich was so full of flavor. I would highly recommend that one. The fries were put in this container that trapped the steam in so they became soggy. That wasn't a huge deal for me, just providing a heads up. I definitely plan on returning when I'm in the area. There was a lot more from their menu that seemed appetizing to me

The Popcorn Chicken was alright. The French fries were hot and some were great others were soggy. The last photo you see is the Bamburger. This was a soggy mess. There was so much much mayo that the burger began to fall apart after two bites. I think the burger would be better without all those soggy toppings. I was really disappointed with this order. 😔 I hope other menu items are better than my order. Unfortunately, I wouldn't order from here again.

Great food as always!! Staff is always polite and helpful! A must stop for vegan delicacies. Pro tips: 1) A rainy Monday afternoon is the best time for a visit (like today, lol). 2) Creole soul chicken- THE BEST. It’s 🔥. 3) Other recommendations: Thai beef curry, tonkatsu chops, and sizzling pepper steak platter. Go get Red Bamboooooo! ♥️ 🎋

Amazing restaurant with so many options and delicious food. Very quick service… good always comes out fast . 98% of the food contains soy so I wouldn’t recommend for anyone avoiding soy. There are very few options with seitan or just veggies.

I went to this restaurant with high hopes but didn't enjoy the food. We ordered barbecue buffalo wings(I didn't like them because of the very sweet taste of the sauce), fish tacos( tempura batter was not properly cooked), and Chicken Gyro was okay but the French fries side was amazing. For noodles, we ordered Veggie lo me which was also okay with me. I prefer spicy food and it was kind of bland in taste. We also have Roti canai, it was yummy. The restaurant's ambiance was good.

Nice, tasty, cool place and very very decent prices. Hugh menu with many options and the flavours are interesting. One time is not enough if you want to try all of the combinations the can offer. I enjoyed a lot even though the cute waitress didn't fancy me so much....oh well.

Must try 100% vegan restaurant! Massive portions & all dishes were wonderful. We tried Sizzling Steak platter (good recommendation to upgrade side rice to Garlice Fried Rice!) & Chicken Parmesan (nice sauce!) So many interesting menu items - many different cuisines represented ranging from Asian to Creole to Italian Located near NYU - look for the stairs, directly off street level

Small spot with a huge variety of vegan options - the portion sizes are quite large, so we only got a few starters: the dragonfly dumplings, the chicken satay, and the fish tacos. Our favorite were the tacos, which were incredibly flavorful, fresh, and were very filling. The dragonfly dumplings were a bit mushier than expected, and the filling was quite plain. We’ve been here before and have really enjoyed the entrees, but wish that portion sizes were a bit smaller so that we could order and try more :)

This place has quickly become my top choice when thinking about where to get dinner. Their menu is impressively extensive and executed flawlessly. I've had the pleasure of dining here three times in the past month, twice with my meat-loving boyfriend, and I can honestly say that not a single dish has disappointed. Whether it's the delightful skewers, the Seoul pancakes, or any other item I've had, the quality consistently shines. Surprisingly, the beer options are both affordable and surprisingly good, always priced at $7 (you must try the sour!). The staff is exceptionally friendly, adding to the overall enjoyment. It's a superb destination for well-prepared comfort food.

This review is for a take out order- so perhaps Red Bamboo is marginally better in person- or just go for apps and drinks. Spark notes: overpriced, under-seasoned watery, frozen vegetables - definitely not worth it. I ordered Red Bamboo take out for a long night of studying. I placed my order over the phone and the hostess was very professional and kind- both over the phone and when I saw her in person. The food smelled good, but unfortunately the praise stops there. I ordered the Teriyaki Vegetable Stir Fry and added tofu for $4 for a total of $19.00. I honestly cannot imagine paying $15 for frozen vegetables. Here’s the menu description: Zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, squash, carrots and cauliflower sautéed in a sweet teriyaki glaze. Check out my pictures and let me know if the teriyaki “glaze” looks appetizing to you. It was a literal puddle of water w a splash of sauce. It was apparent the vegetables were either previously frozen or wayyy over steamed and let out all their water which mixed with the sauce. Totally unappealing and inedible. Very disappointed. I will say the spring rolls $5 for 2 were delicious. The ambiance was nice when I walked in, and the hostess was nice, but my main dish was disgusting. Love spending $26 + tip on dinner and still ending up eating mac and cheese for dinner 🥲

WOW. we were blown away by the food here. we split the fried tofu and zucchini, and i swear we were almost too full to eat our entrees. the portion sizes are huge for a great price. i ordered the creole soul chicken as my meal and could only finish a few pieces, which was totally fine because they reheated super well for leftovers. my friend got the teriyaki chicken bowl. both meals were absolutely amazing. a must stop for vegans visiting NYC

Had an amazing experience, being served by Leslie and Tanner. Very warm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere. Makes you feel like you’re eating at a friend’s house. I ordered the vegan Spicy Chicken with Broccoli over brown rice. It was delicious and well portioned. It can be hard to find a restaurant that does vegan proteins well, and this place surprised me with how well they prepare and cook their food. Bathroom was nice, clean, and also smelled great with the tasteful candle. Would come back 10 out of 10 times.

Food was fresh and delicious with a small but tasty gluten free menu. Small space but nice music and good atmospheric lighting. A little slow to take orders but food came pretty quickly once our orders were placed.

Ok, this review is for the carnivores. I’m having a hard time accepting that what I ate here was not actually steak and chicken🤯. These vegan chefs are magicians. Flavorful and yummy. Deep skeptic turned believer. I now have a casual vegan spot to go to with my foraging friends.

I had the wonderful opportunity to dine at this restaurant, not my first visit, but this time stood out. The welcoming staff and a conversation with the owner enhanced the experience. The bold flavors and visually stunning dishes, including broccoli, mash, sour chicken, and exceptional spring rolls, left nothing to be desired. A solid 10 out of 10 – a must-visit in the West Fourth area of New York City.

I went here on a Wednesday with my girlfriend and a friend and we ordered several starters (photos of those below!) and an entree all to split- it was more than enough food! We got the fried chick’n, vegetable steamed dumplings (Asian dumplings) popcorn “shrimp”, and chicken satay for the starters and the main we got was the red curry tofu. It was all so good!

The food was good but they struggled a bit while we were there. They took a solid ten minutes to get us menus and glasses of water. Then we ordered appetizers and entrees and they brought everything out all at once. It was decent food but the service was lacking… I would go back but make sure to not be hungry!

I’ve been coming to Red Bamboo for years and they always deliver on the good vegan food! I usually sub out so many things for my order and make so many changes. Today, Leslie was EXCEPTIONALLY patient and helpful with a great attitude. It’s so important to be greeted with good customer service and Leslie surpassed my expectation today. Thank you!

I would have loved to give this restaurant a lovely review but unfortunately after speaking with a staff worker over the phone in reference to my order not be stapled upon delivery and the staff worker not offering to offer a resolution for the matter, I had to leave a review. The staff was able to apologize thankfully, however there was no effort for an escalation to resolve the matter at all. I am requesting foe the company to issue a refund for unsafe packaging of our delivered food, thank you. The receipt had a staple but the bag unfortunately didn’t have one. Please be careful! Here are images showing that they have staples in there restaurant for the reciepts but no attempt of stapling anywhere on the bag to close the bag. Safety and sanitary should be first priority always!

I was looking for a new vegan restaurant in my neighborhood and found this new restaurant. Go Zen is no longer open so I wanted to give this place a try. I ordered the Buffalo chicken and was absolutely turned off by the texture. The smell was amazing, but I didn’t enjoy the thickness and texture of the meat. I only ate one piece and left the rest. I then had the mashed potatoes and gravy. Gravy was delicious but the mashed potatoes tasted bland and stiff. Not enjoyable. I then requested the fried shrimp. This was absolutely delicious and I wish I would have had a double or triple order of this wonderful dish! My meal came to $35 and I tipped my server $15 because it wasn’t her fault. Looking at all of the food I left, she asked me if I wanted a to-go box, I numbly said no and then walked away. I also observed a woman who walked in and asked for a menu that she could bring to her office, the gentleman at the front desk said no because they didn’t have any menus that could be taken out. That could have been a $200 account and they just turned her away giving her a biz card that probably had a QR code. You only get one shot at leaving a lasting impression. I’ll come back again but I’m fearful at trying anything else. I’ll only stop by for shrimp.

Vegan eats review: Eclectic menu. Nice staff. Friendly not intrusive. Spinach dumplings have a thicker skin than anticipated but comes with a yummy sweet soy sauce and a palate cleansing salad with ginger carrot dressing. Fried chick’n salad has same salad and is perfect portion when you are hungry. Chick’n sandwich is on a delicious crispy bun. Wish I had room for the yummy dessert menu that boasts several cheesecakes, a key lime pie, and assorted ice cream floats.

As a vegan from the south I am used to somewhat limited options, and am constantly blown away by the selection when I’m in New York. Red bamboo is almost like the Cheesecake Factory for vegans with its humongous and eclectic menu of Asian, Italian, and southern dishes. I never had crab Rangoons before I went vegan but wanted to try them, and this is the only place I’ve ever seen with vegan crab Rangoons. The food was just amazing, I was so full but had to get the peanut butter cake since I’ve never seen anything like this vegan on a menu. I cannot recommend it enough!

Great vegan food! The menu has a lot of variety and everyone in our party liked their dish. Pictured is the Dante’s Cuisine, which has soy beef medallions. The “chicken” parm was also excellent. Barbecue chicken wings and roti chenai are great appetizers to start with

I came here with a friend one night and she didn’t tell me it was a vegan place. I honestly had no idea. I ordered the spring rolls and the creole soul chicken. Both were delicious, I had no idea it was all vegan until the meal was over and my friend told me. It’s a must go to even if you aren’t vegan.

Very less vegan restaurants have vegan food which is this this flavorful! Plus the service is fast. One of the best in NYC!

The pineapple seafood fried rice and the curry chicken were definitely a highlight! To pair with the dish, the lemon pineapple ginger drink. Will definitely come back and visit again.

Nuggets were good. Nearly as good as nuggets could be I suppose. The sauce was nice as well. Lemon lime cake was also really quite good. Wasn’t the best vegan food I’ve had in the city but certainly among the best.

I don’t live in NYC but every time I visit I’m sure to stop at Red Bamboo. The food is so good, and I’m not even vegetarian let alone vegan. The soul chicken sandwich is my go to, and is one of the most realistic fake meats I’ve ever had. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere!
