This place is really great! We have been to some of the best ranked steakhouses in the world literally and the steak here was quite insane. It was also comically large. I got the prime rib king’s cut and it is pretty much impossible to finish. For starters, we had the oysters Rockefeller, delicious! The fish was fantastic and the sides of sautéed mushrooms and hash browns were also pretty great. The staff is awesome and super friendly. All in all a great experience.

Awesome dinner. Staff wearing masks and they check for vaccination card before being seated. It's a 4.5 stars. Our server did a great job. I had the double mutton chop which is delicious very delicious, served with swiss chard. We also the fried calamari salad very delicious with a little bit of spice, just right although the calamari was slightly over cooked. The prime NY sirloin was perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender. The interior is unique with the clay pipes on the ceiling dating back to 1885. The atmosphere brings you back in time. Dark but light enough. Great dessert menu and after dinner drink selection. Overall I would do it again and try their porterhouse steak for two or three, it looks awesome, you can get it sliced or not, same with the mutton chop, I had mine sliced.

Far and away the best meal we had in NYC. Great presentation and service in a charming, atmospheric restaurant. The huge plate if crudites, fantastic blue cheese dip and breads were a tasty and unexpectedly generous start to our meal. Certainly it was very expensive overall but none of the party objected as it was just so good. That said, some items on the menu are extremely reasonable by NYC standards. Well worth it and an excellent experience.

Keens Steakhouse has a wonderful atmosphere that quite frankly, is unmatched by other steakhouses that I’ve been to. The dark tones and aptly-themed decor including a ceiling that is covered with old pipes really contribute to the whole theme, making dining a pleasant experience. The service cannot be understated at this establishment, either. The waiter for our table was extremely friendly and attentive, contributing to making my experience wonderful. There were smiles on the faces of all the waiters, which made me feel welcome and their attitude was extremely generous. The food was quite wonderful as well. The Porterhouse steak for 3 is for lack of better words, just massive. Each piece was flavorful without being overly meaty or overbearing. The mutton chop was simply amazing, being extremely flavorful especially with the mint jelly that they serve with it, which just elevated it to a whole other level. The creamed spinach, hash, bacon and everything else ordered were delicious as well. Overall, dining at Keens was a splendid experience. From the food to the decor to the service, I certainly enjoyed it all. Just a gravest place overall and I am definitely considering come back.

Absolutely the best experience I could have. Really good T bone, but that mutton chop is must must, did I say MUST have??? Initially wanted to order the porterhouse for two, but ended up ordering T bone and a lunch size mutton chop (13oz for $29) after the waiter told us the portion size. And that was probably too much meat for us. If you an average size Asian, trust me there is going to be too much food for you. Didn’t not regret it at all. The best mutton I’ve ever had. And the thick bacon… so smokey, not too salty. Just great. The lobster bisque was nice too. We ordered one portion but they served it in 2 bowls because we were sharing everything. So nice of them. Very good service. Just overall such a great experience. Love it

Keens Steakhouse was on my MUST GO! restaurant list for long time. Since my friend suggested, I decided to spend my birthday dinner at the place. The restaurant was known for old famous in NYC. I have mixed feelings about the place to be honest, if I came to this restaurant ten years ago, I would be more impressed and excited. As a New Yorker who love trying new places and food, I have to say with lots of competition of industry. Our server was professional and gave us an excellent service. I'm not crazy about the tables are close to each other too much. Somehow, I feel like I'm in time square with full of tourist (please don't get offended nothing wrong but it just makes me feel if I'm in the right place) Food was good and steak was great as advertised. - Raws bar/ dozen of Clams: compare to all clams I had before in my life, I think this dish just not as good as I expected. The smell is too strong and has some sand in it. When I spend extra in the restaurant, I expect a better quality than this. - T-Bone was great: can't complain and the portion is big! - Surf & Turf: streamed Lobster and Fillet Mignon is wonderful. - Side dish are a bit over price, string beans, fries, boiled asparagus. - Dessert is okay, maybe is not just my style. Overall, it is good steakhouse and will be wonderful for visitor and family.

Great ambience and history behind this place. Loved the many different rooms and levels for dining. It takes you back in time with the decor and art. We ordered the porterhouse for two and it was absolutely delicious! It was cooked perfectly and super tender! Definitely an essential spot to check out in the top steakhouses in nyc!

We sat at the bar and still were hoping to order a regular menu as that is possible in most restaurants. We were told only bar food was orderable. Then later, I saw other groups of people ordering the regular menus in the bar. Not sure what changed in 5 minutes. Why others were allowed while we were not? Prime rib was okay: the meat part was tender, but there were too many fat and stringy parts (you can see the picture- almost half of the meat was fat/stringy part). Lobster was okay. A bit too cold, but the horse radish sauce was good. The portion was pretty small. The ginger ale was good. For the two of us, the whole meal together cost about $100. Considering the price, the lobster salad was tiny (not to mention the level of service). Not sure if I would revisit it.

Excellent experience from start to finish. Legendary steak house in NYC. While waiting outside for our reservation we were checking out the menu. Several locals stopped by to mention it's the best place to eat in the city.. and that they've been eating there for 40+ years. Mahesh was an amazing server with very attentive service but also great recommendations. Would request him on our next visit. The 'taste of mutton' ($29) was the perfect portion @ 12oz as I just wanted to try and not get the full portion. Also a wonderful scotch and cognac list! The homemade carrot cake was also the perfect birthday dessert. Will return. 5 stars.

Keens has an amazing atmosphere, and you can feel it as soon as you walk in. Dark, wooden decors, moody lighting, pipes on the ceiling and pictures highlighting its history on the wall all come together and create a special place. Their food matches up to its venue and history. We had a taste of mutton, T-bone steak, creamed spinach and mash. The meat was so delicious and tender. The mutton was seasoned perfectly, and I liked the cabbage that came with it. The T-bone was so tender, and somehow not too heavy which allows you to eat more of it. Mash was perfect, and creamed spinach was flavourful and preserved enough spinach texture without losing it to cream. For dessert, we had a key lime pie, and it was so light, zesty, and not too sweet which made it so pleasant to eat. I would highly recommend getting it as a dessert, even if you are full! I would definitely come back, try other cuts of meat and eat that delicious key lime pie again!

Excellent mutton chop which is good for 2 to share. The lobster bisque is also excellent. This restaurant has 127 years history where they kept the pipes for 90,000 customers. Many famous people came here including Albert Einstein, President Theodore Roosevelt. The lady at the counter called Vonnie kindly brought s around the second floor to explain us the different rooms and the stories behind. It was fascinating !!

We had reservations for both Peter Luger and Keens and decided to visit Keens this time around. From what I’ve seen prices are relatively the same and I could not find any trustworthy reviews that indicated food being better in one or the other. The main reason we visited Keens was location (we stayed in midtown) and the fact that we rather have good service. Every place I read said that service in Peter Luger is sub-par, for a restaurant where you will be spending upwards of $75 per person I just did’t want to take the risk. Service in Keens was outstanding from beginning to end, we felt honestly welcomed there. Everyone was friendly and respectful, eager to guide us through the menu, joke and make our meal fun. The place is nice, old school and elegant with white table cloths but not pretentious. Very spacious. Food was great, we had the porterhouse for two the which can be eaten by three easily. Meat was really good, by far not the best steak I’ve had but still very good, well cooked and seasoning all around. I can’t give an opinion on Peter Luger since I have not been there but I can say that I do not regret my decision of visiting Keens.

With so many steak places to choose from in New York, we did a lot of research and decided on Keens. I've tried steak from all around the world and can say that this is up there with the best and is very well priced. For two we ordered a T Bone & the Taster Mutton, Yukon potatoes and creamed spinach. The mutton was good to try but the beef is the winner. The mash is also not to be missed!

Recently I told myself I would only write a review on Google if it’s really worth it. This definitely falls within the list. Iconic steakhouse since the 1880s, rich not just in the flavours of its dishes but also its history and cultural origins. Needless to say the meat was legendary. Very tender and full of flavours. Would highly recommend their Porterhouse Steak and Legendary Mutton Chop! Really love the old school 1980/1990s ambience too with classic wooden fit out. Super satisfied☺️

Fantastic steak house!!!! Amazing prime rib steak!!! It was buttery and tender, so easy to swallow. The portion is huge too!!! I could barely eat a quarter of the meat. The mutton chop was so good as well. Very tender and succulent. My husband loved his mutton chop. The lobster bisque was great as well, so smooth and flavorful. The smoked bacon was thick and yummy, so worth! A bit disappointed by the crab cakes, don’t get me wrong, it was still hood, just had higher expectation after tasting all the other foods.

Honestly the best steak of my life! I ordered the Prime T-Bone Steak medium and oh boy, WOW. The meat was perfectly cooked, soo tender, juicy, huge, had an amazing crust outside, seasoned with big salt flakes, and fat that melted in your mouth. Super high quality meat. I miss this steak so much and I'm crying as I'm writing this review reliving the memories of this beautiful steak. I paired mine with a Manhattan to drink which was fantastic. My friend got the Prime Rib of Beef, Kings Cut medium and got it charred outside. Absolutely amazing too. Tender, juicy, huge, and the char on the outside really elevated it without compromising the inside. They also serve some dinner rolls with butter and a small assortment of carrots, celery, olives, and dip to eat before your meal. On top of the meats, the atmosphere in this place is incredible! It is dimly lit, old school, vintage, woodsy, and filled with tobacco pipes used by historical figures which creates such a cool ambiance. We walked in without a reservation at 5pm sharp on a Saturday and were able to get a table for two instantly. We either got lucky or just make sure to get there at open. Definitely make reservations for dinner. If you're coming to visit New York, go here. Splurge a little, but it'll be so worth it!

An institution, I was expecting the mutton to be the star but I think the porterhouse was the highlight. Cocktails were nice in a classic steakhouse vibe, service was excellent. You can probably skip the shrimp cocktail but the bacon and hash browns were nice additions

Nice steak, I go with my parents first time, they have to eat fully cooked steaks. We then ordered 3 different beef dishes. Surprisingly medium well cooked beef still juicy and tender. The taste is good too. But most important is the restaurant has stories too tell, pls not give away the menu too soon once you make the order, just turn to back and read the history and a stories how a actress file a lawsuit to the restaurant at 1900 and won so woman could enter the restaurant since then...and lot of lot of old portrait photos and thousands of smoking pipe hanging on the ceiling plus the dim light decorations, all make you back to the old day, really nice lunch experience for me.

Keens Steakhouse delivers an exceptional dining experience. From starters to lobster and a perfectly cooked T-bone, everything we had was impressive. The standout was a wonderful Napa Valley red wine, handpicked by their knowledgeable staff. Ended on a sweet note with their recommended desserts – spectacular! The ambiance is steeped in history, and the staff is top-notch. Definitely a 5-star dining experience.

My belated Bday dinner was a success thanks to Keens. My server Paul was kind and attended to any questions I had about their cuts and wine list. I was left satisfied and happy. I recommend coming here for a special event or a business meet it'll definitely get the clients going. This place is not for light pocketed folks, prepare to spend and enjoy.

Doing research on New York steakhouses and substantial prices really set my expectations high for this restaurant. The mutton chop was especially praised by many. When I recieved my mutton chop, it was delicious; however, my expectations did not feel like they were met. I felt it could have been cooked more consistently (parts of the chop ranging from well done to medium rare), been more tender and more juicy. On the other hand, the prime rib was the star of the night. It was amazingly tender, marinated in a very flavourful jus. The service was exceptional and the restaurant was elegant and classy. Overall a good experience, with some room for improvement.

Probably the worst steakhouse I've ever been to. I've been to many steakhouse across the US and Keens is such a disappointment. I had high expectations for this restaurant given all the reviews and its long history. However the steak is way off. Order thick cut bacon - five stars. This is the only dish that we liked. The candied flavor makes the thick cut bacon less greasy. Mutton chop - it is claimed to be the best entree but I'm very disappointed. It has no flavor at all and the mutton chop is very very fatty. Same for the King's prime cut. The waiter recommended this as a substitute for Rib eye, which we usually order at other steakhouses, and which Keens doesn't offer. The beef has no flavor at all, meat is very chewy, no charred crust, and when you proceed to the middle, it's very bloody although we chose Medium! I feel like anyone who can grill their own steak can easily surpass Keens. If you want to come here, see it as a pipe museum instead of a steakhouse.

My family and I (8 in total) had a stupendous meal here. Mohammed, our server, went above and beyond to make our meal great. I have seafood allergies and he had the cooks make me french fries in a separate vessel to accommodate me. Wow! The food was great (Mutton is a must), the location is beautifully historic and parking was a breeze. This is going on my frequently visited list definitely.

A true old school New York dining experience with an ambience that is second to none. It's not perfect, but definitely a must visit. We celebrated my wife's birthday here on a random Tuesday in January and the restaurant was bustling and completely packed. Hence, please be sure to book your table well in advance. We were seated promptly in the dining room adjacent to the entrance. What atmosphere! One is truly taken back by the incredible decor of pipes on the ceiling and the most perfect lighting. The tables are very close to each other, but it was not really a problem. Our server was nice and efficient, but the service did seem a bit rushed. The pace of the dinner was very fast, in fact this was the fastest service I have experienced, ever! Our drinks, cocktails and appetizer were brought like within one minute of the order. This was almost too fast to truly take in the experience. The food was very good to outstanding. The appetizer of thick cut bacon was a but thick and a but too salty for our liking. The mutton chop was an interesting cut, but a bit too much bone and fat for me. However, the mint jelly was a very nice addition. The star of the evening was definitely the New York strip sirloin. Massive, juicy and perfectly cooked. On par with some of the best steak we ever tasted. The side dishes and New York cheesecake were very average, even a bit of a letdown. I know we had a better slice of cheesecake in Columbus. Overall, this is still a New York institution that deserves a visit. Pricey, but you are in New York city. I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.

It's one of those iconic place you want to drop by for a visit while in the NY. Please make sure to order medium-rare/medium at most because porter house in my taste medium was too dry. Mutton Chop is something you must try at this place. It was far surfacing the flavor of the porter house. Mint jelly was bit weird, but I kind of understand why you need this for the mutton because mutton has this very strong Fatty flavor.

Keens food is delicious but their real strength lies in their waitstaff. We've never had anything other than absolutely stellar service from their waiters. Attentive, knowledgeable, and full of personality. Seriously, they're fantastic! If you want an amazing steak while being practically pampered by the service, you could do a LOT worse than Keens.

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is so fascinating. Service is superb. This is a restaurant with real history. I like the porterhouse because you can taste the deepest of aged steak. My parent like the lobster bisque but they said they like English chowder better 😂. T bone steak also tastes really good. This restaurant is really solid for a steakhouse and it won’t go wrong if you like steak

If you are tourist or asian, not recommended. My recent visit to Keens Steakhouse left me underwhelmed. While the food was decent, the service was quite disappointing. It felt like the servers lacked proper training, especially in the art of patience with customers. Our server seemed disinterested and rushed through our order. He barely spent any time at our table, just taking our order and refilling water once. The server at the next table was even worse, displaying impatience towards some Asian tourists. When the guests were deciding on their steak preferences, he made an inappropriate remark, urging them to decide quickly. It was unprofessional and showed a lack of understanding. Patience and attentiveness are key qualities of good service, which seemed to be missing at Keens. I'm unsure if they treat all customers this way or just travelers, but it's unacceptable either way. While the food was okay, I can't help but feel there are better options for the same price in NY.

Went for a lunch and it is good value to eat there. We had lobster salad, sirloin, and taste for mutton (12oz special for lunch only). I had the bone intact and my friend had the chef sliced the mutton. The mutton was tender and good flavor, however, not so impressive. Sirloin tasted as expected. The lobster salad tasted the best to us: refreshing, succulent, and appetizing.

Probably one of the best restaurants I have been to. The ambience is perfect for a cozy indoor dining experience. Ordered the mutton chop appetizer, T-bone steak, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, NYC cheesecake and carrot cake. All the food was heavenly and portions were very generous for the price. The beef and cheesecake were phenomenal. Highly recommend checking this place out!

The lobster bisque is “full body”; the dry aged NY strip has intense meaty favor and wonderfully prepared. I should have ordered the red wine sauce so this was my mistake and only regret. The portion is quite large for me and luckily I came with an empty stomach skipping lunch that day. Great atmosphere for a nice dinner here as well! Must go here in NYC!

Celebrated an anniversary here! The food was amazing, all the appetizers were fantastic. Service was phenomenal. Drinks were quite tasty too. 4 stars are given because the steak was pretty mehh. It's the reason for the spot. If come back but I'll get all the apps again. I recommend the chicken wings, Cesar salad, and Brussels. The Mac and cheese was mediocre for me but my partner liked it.

We heard of this restaurant on a youtube video about NY. We went there on our last day of vacation to eat their Mutton Chop, my wife is not a lamb meat lover and she was the one to say that she regreted we did not go there on our first day in NY we could have gone every single day to eat their food, it was by far one of the best meats we have ever had, EVER. Dont miss this out, we have travelled to over 50 countries and this is a place to not skip while you are in NY!!!

Came here with a group of friends for a 6pm dinner and the place was pretty empty. The service was immediately great, with the staff being very attentive. The famous dish here are the mutton chops, but I opted for a filet mignon. The food was pretty good, but the best things were the drinks and the sides. It’s really cool to see the smoking pipes EVERYWHERE, some are even signed by very famous people. I think this is a good place to come for a special occasion.

Really been wanting to go since before the pandemic and was so worth the wait! My first wife took the family for my birthday. We had the big boys with us, so we ordered the meats. I love lamb, and the giant mutton chop was tasty and tender. We like it Pittsburgh style and Keens delivered. Charred outside but still RARE. Thick Porterhouse for 2 was similarly cooked to perfection. The younger guy had a medium rare filet and would not even share. Wedge salad with homemade blue cheese was excellent. Creamed spinach was a great side. The guys also had ice cream sundaes for desert, which were delicious. Service was top-notch. Our servers were friendly, professional, and accommodating. Asked for a whiskey recommendation because they had over a hundred, and they took the time to make me happy. Great old-fashioned steakhouse vibe. You also need to take the time to walk around to view all the history that is displayed. Took us a bit over an hour to drive into NYC, but parking garage across the street was easy. A truly wonderful dining experience with the family. What a lucky guy.

Visited Keen’s for a celebratory birthday dinner. The rich history and old-school ambiance was complementary to an incredible dinner. Veggies with the bread basket had an amazing blue dress dressing, wedge salad with split without us having to request, 4 sauces were incredible with our steak! We’ll be back

You're greeted immediatley when you enter. Atmosphere is dim lighting. Display of cigars from presidents to generals to musicians and actor, but Albert Einsteins pipe was stolen. Plenty of room between tables, not crowded. 2 dining areas and a seperate bar lounge area. The food was perfectly cooked medium rare and medium. After tasting the T-bone and porter house, I added a little salt for my taste. Creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were perfect. The wedge salad was already eaten when I took a picture because it was so delicious with bacon cubes and tomatoes around the side with the perfect blue cheese dressing. For dessert there was their homemade carrots cake which had perfect walnuts and a touch of cinnamon with a lemon flavor cream cheese topping. This was the best I ever had. The chocolate mousse was perfect light consistency with homemade whipped cream topping. Had a wonderful lunch totaling $330 for 3 people including 2 drinks. I would recommend this historic steak house.

Got lamb and t-bone, mushroom, lobster bisque, love all of them. Not too pricy as a steak house. Personally love the vibe as well. Old school and cozy. Definitely recommend for special day. Make sure to reserve beforehand, otherwise it may not have a table until late night.

Absolutely incredible dining experience. Cocktails and raw oysters to start. We had the porterhouse for two, perfectly cooked, medium rare, with a glass of their keens brand red wine. Their own brand of red wine is certainly on the sweet side, smooth and simple. I would order another brand for anyone looking for more complexity. Also ordered the taste of mutton, highly recommend the mutton will probably order it next time. Ended the night with an espresso and a berry bibble. The desert was also amazing.

My wife and I wanted to come here to try the famous mutton chop so we made a lunch reservation. Arrived and were seated immediately. We were greeted with some warm bread and enough butter which was a plus. We decided to share the mutton chop, the strip steak salad and a side of mashed potatoes. The mutton chop was outstanding. Much milder than we expected and we both enjoy lamb. So tender it melts in your mouth. We got it medium rare and am glad we did. The size of the chop will have some areas a bit more done than others so medium rare is the way to go. The strip steak salad was also ordered medium rare. The steak was very good but we were blown away by the mutton chop. We could not finish it all so we decided to skip the dessert. We have a reservation at Peter Luger’s as well in a few days but this mutton chop will be hard to beat. Based on this alone, we’ll be back. For those that are don’t want to commit to a full mutton chop, the lunch menu also has what they call A Taste of Mutton to give it a try. Either way, get it!

I was encouraged by some people to visit this classic steakhouse, but the experience was not entirely pleasant. Steak was slightly overcooked, but the quality of beed was good enough. The slight overcook was acceptable. The real problems were their entire service attitude. They gave me a table at a corner, which was closely located to the exit, although there were plenty of empty seats. I could see all the asian people were seated outer section of the dining room, while all the white people were seated at the inner section. I really hope this was either a coincidence or my simple misunderstanding. There was really annoying vibration on the table(i had no idea what the origin was though) and kindly asked them to change the table. Then they moved us to a better table, which was located at the inner section of the dining room. They are "trying to" be professional and friendly as much as they could be, but they really are not. 4 stars for their steatk, but 3 stars for everything else.

We came here last night for my husbands birthday celebration. This place is top and I would definitely want to come back when we visit New York City again. My husband loved the lamb - mutton chop. The place is beautiful inside, full of history and it has the biggest pipes collection. The staff is super professional and nice. We did not have reservations but they were able to accommodate us. I recommend that you make a reservation before you get here because this place is super busy. People were coming in all the time. If you like a big delicious peace of steak this is the place to go.

Went here for a celebration. They bring a nice warm bread to the table and fresh veggies. Those were tasty The apps Started w Bacon which was delicious, oysters both regular and Rockefeller were not bad. For Mains we had Portherhouse, Mutton Chops and Chateaubriand steak. The steaks were more on the rare side and which i do prefer but a bit under cooked. Flavor was average. Key lime for desert was good. Overall place is really cool vibes, 130 years of history, but i wouldn’t come back for a meal.

i ordered the porterhouse for 2 and the meat was cooked to perfection. the meat had an incredible aged taste and was only lightly seasoned so that the emphasis was on the flavor of the meat itself. it had a very robust beef flavor and tenderness. i also tried the lobster bisque and it was extremely balanced/refined. highly recommend trying!

Very nice atmosphere in this old histortical place with wooden panels, candlelight, excellent jazz music, and smoking pipes on the ceiling. Staff was very polite and helpful. I had the soup of the day (black bean soup, delicious) and the mutton chop (medium) with french fries--it was exquisite 👌🏻 And the sangiovese wine really good. All in all somewhat pricey, but worth its money!

Not worth the hype. I personally prefer other steakhouses in NYC.

My absolute favorite place for steak in New York. Walking into this restaurant is like stepping back in time and the decor is just beautiful. But the main event is the steak and on that this place seriously delivers - from the quality of the meat to perfectly cooking it with a wonderful crust on the outside and juicy interior with just the right amount of salt. This is one place I’ll return again and again.

NYC Steakhouse with a rich history and great ambiance. I’ve been twice for lunch and had the steak salad both times. The first time it was great! The second time, my steak was over cooked and rubbery. Great white tablecloth service catering to old school finance types.

worth a try if you like classic steaks in an old fashioned space with a lot of history. the food was good, but nothing special for the price. the lobster bisque had a very deep rich flavor, but was almost too much for me. the dover sole was tender and very buttery. the lemon cream sauce helped cut that and make it more manageable. the meats were cooked well, but you can find more exciting steaks for cheaper at various kbbqs.

What an excellent experience. We went to celebrate my sister’s birthday and had a great time. The food was incredible. The wine was great. You should go for the food and the experience. On top of it all the place is full of so much history. We had a great time.

Such a fun holiday dinner treat in a gorgeous and historic chophouse. The staff were classic old school NYC and we loved it. Great and accessible wine list. Mutton chops were fabulous. Creamed spinach rocked. NY strip was so so juicy with a tasty crust. Oysters Rockefeller were on point. Caesar was meh but that's OK! Dover sole with cream sauce was killer. Looking forward to my next visit already.

Amazing place, awesome service, delicious food 😋. Will go back again 🇺🇲💯

Dining at Keen’s is quite an experience. From the animals hanging on the wall, the old newspaper articles, and of course the pipes that everyone talks about. The pipes of famous people the likes of Teddy Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, Einstein, Buffalo Bill, etc. gives the place a cool feel like you’re back in time. The menu itself provides excellent options and the meat is great. Keen’s is of course known for their mutton chop which to my understanding isn’t technically aged enough to be called mutton (so just lamb) but it’s great and tasty nonetheless, paired with an in house mint sauce. This is definitely a place to check out if the vibe sounds right for you / and you’re also looking for a great steak.

Old fashioned high table steakhouse. Love the environment and service. The seafood platter was fantastic and I loved the mashed potato. Main course we had mutton chop, this is their signature dish. Their house wine worth to try.

Solid steakhouse. All the steaks are dry aged - not my favorite but, it was still pretty food. The waiter seemed a bit distracted.

I came here with some clients who were from out of town and Keen’s did not disappoint! I had never heard of this restaurant, but it is steeped in history and you can feel the weight of that history from the moment you step through the doors. There’s a case full of wooden smoking pipes from past patrons (famous writers, a few presidents) and the ceilings are decorated with hundreds more. There’s even a lobster tank in the dining room! They bring bread and a selection of crudités to the table once you’re seated. For appetizers we had the bacon which was delicious; it’s served on a bed of arugula and wonderfully ripe tomatoes which pairs really well with the bacon. We all ordered the mutton (which I understand isn’t commonly served in NY anymore), which comes with a side of bok choy-like greens. For our sides, we got the creamed spinach and mushrooms. Everything was fantastic. The portions here are very large so you will get your moneys worth for sure and won’t leave hungry. As with most steakhouses, they have an excellent wine list. We ordered two bottles of the Deutz champagne which paired very nicely with dinner. The atmosphere is very old-school steakhouse, which may not be for everyone. The lighting is also pretty dark. Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a great, classic NYC steakhouse experience.

Loved the food & wine selections here! The tomatoes and onions were perfect, full of flavor. Oysters Rockefeller (not pictured) were good, shrimp & spinach dish was delicious and cooked perfectly, filet and mushrooms were great as well. Probably couldn’t go wrong with anything on this menu! The restaurant was huge, looked like there was plenty of seating, and has a very classy, rustic feel. We had a great experience here!

Interesting thing that the place have several rooms within the same location. There is a pub section where the menu is slightly more limited but you have access to the top items of the place. I had a homemade ginger ale which was surprisingly fresh and good, I’ve never had something like this before. Then the lobster bisque which was really good too and finally the prime rib which was amazing! Totally worth it! The service was just ok, for a restaurant with this prestige they can employ more serviceable personnel.

Everything you’d want from a steakhouse and more. The ambiance is perfect and cozy with dark wood, red curtains, old paintings, and pipes across all the ceiling. The steak is absolutely mouthwatering- I’ve never had better. We got the porterhouse for 2 and 3, and it was a right amount for 5 people. The bacon appetizer was delicious. The sides were a bit underwhelming. The desserts were solid (chocolate cake was great but key lime was average).

I visited this place for my birthday dinner and I really enjoyed it. The food is great 👍, people are all nice and the atmosphere itself is even greater inside. You can feel their history when you step inside the restaurant. Highly recommended!

Great experience, I loved this restaurant! The food was great, the legendary mutton chop is a a must try. The portion is large and very tasty. As side dish we got French fries and asparagus, the latter was just fine and not very abundant. The dessert were outstanding, the key lime pie and the carrot cake were excellent. The service is also great, only point to improve is that some of the waiters put their mask down while speaking to us which I think it does not make a lot of sense. However they were amazing and super nice and helpful. The place is a bit expensive, but it is totally worth it. the mutton chop + side + the dessert + a glass of beer was a total of 130$

Visiting NYC and had to try this place on my first night in the city. I have to say, I was blown away by the food. The prime rib itself is enormous (much bigger than we thought) and tasted amazing! Though the sides of mushrooms and spinach were both very salty for our liking. There were waiters that constantly were checking up on us asking us if we're done or still working on it and it was almost like they were making us leave so that wasn't a very good experience to be rushed out like that. Overall though, the steaks were honestly one of the best that I've ever tasted 👌

Amazing food. But the whiskey selection is on point. The servers were great. The atmosphere is also interesting and filled with history. Not overly expensive but not cheap. I will definitely be back.

Wonderful experience at Keen’s, of course! We sat in the Pub and it was my favorite seating of the four times I’ve been. The service was impeccable, yet friendly. The food was superb. And the wine list had some great surprises. A wonderful evening.

I went to this place in the afternoon with my friend. Inside restaurant was pretty dark and antique. They served bread and butter at the beginning. We tried soup of the day for appetizer, it was delicious. We ordered one and shared. They put it in 2 bowls for us. For the main dish, I ordered sliced prime bavette steak salad. It was delicious, juicy and tender. Their steak sauce was good too.

Always love coming to a great Steakhouse, so I was very excited to try out Keens. Dressed up nice and got ready for a great meal, and was not disappointed. As live long NY'er, Peter Lugers is the gold standard, but I still like to give other places a fair review. While different than Lugers, it's definitely worth the visit. The thick cut bacon and fresh seafood were great starters, but the main event did not disappoint. The steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare. Packed with flavor and super tender. It was the steak for 3, and was more than enough food, with 2 sides. Great dining experience.

TLDR: Exceptional dining experience, food is delicious, not overly expensive for such a great steakhouse. It's an experience you must have when you're feeling fancy. Service: The waiter was above and beyond, being extremely friendly, attentive, always making you feel welcome and comfortable. You are never rushed. Ambience: the place is pretty dark and feels like an antique museum which is not to my liking but I guess that's the place's je ne sais quoi. I prefer a more polished look. The food is great: Everything tasted great and the portions are still kept big, unlike most restaurants that seem to be shrinking everything to keep prices down. - They start you with delicious warm dinner rolls and vegetable crudité with the most amazing blue cheese dip. - Cheese puffs are an amazing cloud of flavor - The seafood platter had very fresh items and was flavorful. - Mutton Chop was the amazing star: massive and cooked to perfection. The side mint jelly that comes with it is just the perfect touch. The French fries were crisp and nice. - Carrot Cake: It is difficult to find a moist and tasty carrot cake and they delivered it. Overall this place is surely on the list of top NY steakhouses. It was an outstanding experience worth repeating because from the food to the service I enjoyed it all.

Super late review. Had 2023 New Year’s eve dinner here. The legendary mutton was… legendary. Huge portions, good ambience and service.

Mutton is a MUST try and I may have actually liked it more than the porterhouse. You can definitely taste that the beef has been dry aged. Best creamed spinach I've ever had and amazing carrot cake. Plus in a really cool atmosphere and fairly priced. Great place!

Very romantic good vibes. They delivered HUGE portions of meat. It was good! Lobster bisque was not to my taste but the creamy spinach was out of this world.
