I love this place! I was overseas for 7 months and was craving this for the longest. This was my first stop when I returned to NYC. This is comfort food made with love. Chai tea is delicious. I ordered from here for a week so far. Rice pudding is a must try as well.

An nyc institution!!! Cash only with cheap prices, great portions, and veg friendly! We got a bag of pakoras (so many!!) and split a small rice with two sides. I liked the numbering system to keep things easy and the kind workers. Will surely be back :)

My go to spot for the best tea in the city! Try the Dhudh pathi, rich milk tea with fresh ginger cardamom and cinnamon spice, with a biscuit (or two, they are that good!). The wide assortment of vegetarian hot food bar is so fresh and nutritious. Owners and staff are so courteous and professional. Highly recommend!

Excellent Punjabi food with authentic taste Samosa Chaat, Kadi and saag with rice and aloo paratha were awesome. Tastier than most other expensive places in town Their space is a bit cramped for dine in so take out is recommended Price is extremely affordable and value for money is top notch

Singh is King! Really heartened to find this place on my New York travels. Directly across the road from the tourist trap that is Katz, enjoyed popping in and having a nice cup of cha and a ‘gup shup’ with sardar ji. Nice selection of Punjabi comfort foods, including daal, cholae, saag, samosas, and jalebis, but was up to my eyes in pastrami from the place next door.

Exceptional vegetarian food at very low prices at this humble Indian/Punjabi deli. They had one of the best gulab jamuns I have ever had ($2). Cash only though (Unlikely you will need more than 10 bucks though per person). Strongly recommend. There is limited standing, eating space in the deli but they do allow take out. I got the roti with two veg combo, and got the palak (spinach) and channa (garbanzo beans) curries, both of which were exceptional. Will definitely be back to try their Dal makhani, Dal tadka and other curries (7-8 curries are available at a time). The desserts were also really good with the gulab jamun (great flavor and not too sweet) and carrot halwa standing out. They also have a good amount of snacks like Samosa, pakora, lays, maggi as well.

So good! Great vegan & vegetarian options! It was a 10 out of 10! The spinach was great, chickpeas, & lentils with rice! The price was amazing too!

This place is here for more than 28 years and overall place is good if you want to eat home made Punjabi food and Indian snacks. I ordered large bowl of rice with 3 vegetables which includes sarso ka saag, chole and Cudi. Taste was really good and felt like food was prepared in India. Apart from that I ordered aloo paratha too and taste was okay maybe because the time I finished rice bowl it became cold. But overall good experience and the owner was very friendly.

Hole-in-the-wall style punjabi deli across from Katz’s with a rotating menu of bhajis (vegetables/curries). It’s really cheap too especially considering the area it’s in ($6 for a plate of rice with 2 veg, and $2 samosas). 100% vegetarian deli and cash-preferred/cash-only. Service is kinda slow but the food is served hot! Food itself was solid. The samosa was my favorite. Do yourself a favor and check out this awesome deli!

Such a great price! Only $9 for this plate of food with 3 choices and rice. Taste great and vegetarian. Not a place to sit in and eat. Better for take out. Small, may miss it while walking past it.

I always drop by for their masala mild tea which is pretty good. Food taste is pretty authentic but nothing special, they heat everything up with microwave only. So don't expect too much. It's more of a local grab and go type of a deal here. So don't compare this with a real restaurant then you should be fine...

Very affordable home-like food. This would be more of a local hidden gem. This place is cash only but $10 goes a long way here

Where is the spice? If you are looking for authentic Punjabi food then this is not the place. The food, albeit cheap ($8.50 for rice and 3 choices of vegetarian dishes), is not very spiced (cumin, coriander, Garam masala, etc.) nor is it cayenne pepper hot. I had to put a lot hot sauce to make it spicy hot. Food is prepared hours in advance so a microwave is used to heat up (unevenly) the food.

This place has a different vibe. I loved their food. We went twice in our small trip to New York . Friendly people. Cheap yet tasty food. We had samosa chat and had saag with roti. Delicious and enough quantity. I loved it. They should have more branches in other areas or cities.would definitely visit again

This place is absolutely phenomenal. Home cooked food away from home after 5 days of New York's incredible cuisine. Real home cooked food, incredible vegetaroan food at incredibly low prices! A visit is a must!

Found this place by researching cheap places to eat in the city before a recent trip. The rest of my family was afraid to try it based on the looks of the outside, but it was some of the most delicious Indian food I've ever had. Price is very reasonable, portions were decent, taste is out of this world! Only a small counter for two people to eat at but there are benches and seats outside nearby not associated with the restaurant. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Great local spot. Solid Punjabi food. Large portions for cheap and the owners are some of the nicest people ever. It was great to visit a place that made me feel like I was home.

Don’t be mistaken for the size of the Deli, it serves quite a variety of lunch dishes with rice/roti, along with other quick appetizers, sweets and snacks. I’d the Aloo tikki + channa and also tried the kheer. Everything reminded of home.

Good food. Not cheap though (considering it is a small store and not a mid tier restaurant). Cash only, also think twice before using the ATM outside, it has crazy charges. Order rotis carefully, they are huge. Their food tastes good but make sure you consume it the same day as it builds a sour kind of taste (unlike food from other places which easily lasts for a day)

An excellent late-nite spot in the East Village. You'll be getting such a different selection of food than every other deli in the city -- and it's such a refreshing experience! Get the large plate with 3 sides if you want a full meal for cheap. Or grab the samosas for a delicious snack.

Our favorite place for vegetarian Indian food in the city. Owner is friendly and he’s been here forever. You got a lot of food for the price. We come every week to have an earthy meal and every time left happily. There’s not so much space to sit but you can take a short walk to the park nearby and enjoy the sun and outdoor in summer time.

Quick and delicious Indian food that doesn’t break the bank. Highly recommend the samosa chaat with some cha. All the locals go here and it’s a good opportunity to speak some Punjabi. Can’t go wrong with any of the food or sweet options.
