I have been to a good number of gyms including both private and public, school gyms and the ones at apartment complex--basically different gyms every time I move to a new place as we all have. Among all of them, this gym has been my absolute favorite so far. The staffs here, although most of them are students, are very friendly and hard-working and the facilities are well-maintained by them. Most of all, the people--again, mostly students--who work out here are respectful to others and making an effort to keep the equipments clean.

THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT AND GET ANGRY WITH YOU IF YOU DON'T LEAVE. EVEN WHEN THEY LITERALLY CLOSE HALF AN HOUR LATER... If you are planning on having your workout know for a fact that if they say they close at 9:30, they actually FORCE YOU TO STOP at 9pm. The first time I went to this gym there was a man who went around screaming that they were closing half an hour earlier. They don't even have an intercom system to tell you. I did not believe him and I thought he was someone having a manic episode like many people in the subways do at NYC. However within 20 mins I realized he actually works there and was kicking us out. They didn't even give me time to stretch even when there was an extra 30 mins before they actually lock the doors.. it was horrible.

I am a senior in undergrad at NYU. Except one of the four years, 404 was shut down due to Covid. I am here like four times a week. 404 has been an amazing gym although for some reason it has got more crowded since Covid. I guess NYU somehow has been getting more students. The staff here is mainly students who are friendly and helpful. Considering the gym is located in Manhattan, it’s a relatively big gym. Everything is clean. Btw they always have problems with water fountains, which sometimes run water slowly or even don’t work at all.

Yes yes. Solid. Very clean, has tons of fitness equipment, spacious relatively speaking, water fountain looked sanitary and the water was almost ice cold 🧊 lockers available just bring lock. ⭐

It has a limited amount of exercise machines that are in mediocre conditions and have weights that are far lower than those in your average gym. It is also always crowded unless you go at early mornings, which is tough when the gym opens for such short amounts of time. Great for running and for arm and chest workouts. Not so much for leg day.

This is the nicest of the 3 NYU gyms, probably because all the main machines and weights face a complete row of windows. There’s any sort of equipment you could ever want, updated quite frequently (the new cardio equipment just came in June 2019). Clean, respectful atmosphere, rarely crowded but for the start of each term.

It's clean, there's a good number of machines and free weights. Only thing that would take it to a 5 is if they had bumper plates for squat/deadlift but they don't seem to mind you dropping the non-rubberized plates 🤷‍♂️

Best gym I've been to this far. There's soooo much equipment. They have machines I didn't even know existed. And now the machines on the upper floor automatically count how many reps you do. Highly recommend, especially if you're an NYU student

Much better vibe than Palladium. More space and friendly staff make this an ideal spot to get in a well rounded workout. Barbells, kettlebells, cardio, you name it. There is one less squat rack than Palladium but I don't mind. The atmosphere makes this gym worth it.

Great access to equipment, only issue is the crowds at peak times. Go early or late and you'll be fine.

Just an ok gym. I workout 6 days a week and while I am at NYU for summer semesters, I go here. The basement is ridiculously hot (mirrors fog up with sweat) and not always available for workouts. The bikes on the main level that work for cycling style work are poorly adjusted and not maintained (pedals lock up, etc). You are "not allowed" to take free weights into other areas, so circuits (IE; a chest circuit with a presses AND push-ups) are out of the question. To be quite frank, men hog the weights area/machines and frequently stand around talking to their friends and taking up space instead of actually using the equipment and room you are trying to access. Why is there a time limit on cardio machines, yet this is commonplace? The hours aren't great and the staff is sometimes very kind, sometimes unhelpful, and at worst, rude. We pay a LOT for college. A more functional gym is not an unreasonable ask for the tuition paid. Facilities are clean. Security guards are very nice. Offering of free locks is a good bonus.

👍👍 It is an amazing stay for people that really just need a bed for the night in the middle of New York. We stayed for a week and first of all the location is unbeatable.
