How can I keep this pithy? The Schomburg Center is the heart and soul, the mecca of pan-African culture in the historic neighborhood of Harlem. If you haven't visited yet, go yesterday!

The Schomburg Center, I went to see historical photographs and I was surprised to see Black comics, I did not expect it, they have a good collection. If I had not visited the museum I would never have known that Black comics existed, my visit was excellent. I think if you visit you will enjoy it. Recommended

Great museum, I did have a great time and learnt few facts. However I was expecting to learn more things about the life of Black people in Harlem back then. I recommend this place, it is worth to visit.

We had a tour of the center. Langston Hughes ashes are buried here. This center has art, documents and rare collections on Arfican Americans and history. There is a beautiful exhibit on incarceration.

DURING MY COLLEGE YEARS I VISTED THE SCHOMBURG REGULARLY BECAUSE I COULD ALWAYS FIND ACADEMIC TOOLS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO MY SUCCESSFUL JOURNEY THROUGH THE CITY UNIVERSITY INSTITUTION. OF COURSE NEXT DOOR TO THE WORLD 🌎 REKNOWNED AND FAMOUS SCHOMBURG IS THE COUNTEE CULLEN LIBRARY. ALWAYS A GREAT SOURCE FOR RESEARCH MATERIAL IN HUNDREDS OF AREAS. A GREAT SOURCE FOR HIGHSCHOOL INSTRUCTORS AND STUDENTS OF MOST AGES WHO ARE CONSIDERING POST-HIGH SCHOOL STUDY FOR πŸ“– πŸ““ PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION AND DEGREES OF MANY TYPES. THE SCHOMBURG IS THE HOME 🏑 FOR MANY ARCHIVAL WORKS CURATED MATERIALS. PRE-COVID 19 THEY HAD SOME OF THE "BANGINGIST" PARTIES FEATURING WORLD 🌎 CLASS (DJ's). ENCOUNERED SEVERAL DATES OVER THE YEARS SIMPLY BY ATTENDING THE MARCH 'WOMEN'S JAZZ FESTIVAL' AND SEVERAL OTHER HIGHLY RATED CONCERTS AND EVENTS. EVEN PRIOR TO 'EVENTBRITE ' etc, etc. AND DON'T FORGET THE BOOK FESTIVALS AND THE MANY REKNOWNED AUTHORS. MANY YEARS AGO,MET THE (A) DAUGHTER OF ONE OF OUR WORLD REKNOWNED 🌎 AFRO-LATIN "CONGUEROS" ~ MONGO SANTAMARIA. MET MANY MORE ICONS AND CULTURAL HEROIC TYPES OVER THE YEARS AND VERIFIED THAT THIS INSTITUTION EARNED ALL THE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CHARITABLE AND PHILANTHROPIC FUNDS WE CAN PROVIDE ~ YEARLY. THANKYOU. I found the most interesting documentation on the African American experience in this library. The exhibition on the new prison system and the inmates' artwork were very fascinating.

Well I am disappointed because Alfonso Arturo Schomburg was a Puerto Rican who At school was told 1900 that black people don't contribute to society and he raised his hand and researched all our beautiful people and found greatness. Not only Puerto Rican but African black Americans. And I have never seen a Puerto Rican flag or his story struggles. Pedro Campos first black man Puerto Rican go to Harvard left everything to fight for us as well he was jailed and killed by FBI government. Nothing about that Hispanic who fought for black and Hispanic. The take over Lincoln hospital look that up . Black Puerto Rican with black panthers but mostly Puerto Ricans. No reschearch no exhibit like I said disappointed.

So many books and exhibits to see here I could go on and on but two that stuck out were the exhibits for Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee as well as the one for Langston Hughes. Then there's the book store and library on the lower levels and they had such a wide selection of black authors and souvenirs too. Highly recommended and remember every month here is black history monthπŸ‘

One of the best libraries you will visit. The shelves are stocked with all sorts of books. There are events that are awesome. On top of that, it is very ethnocentric when it comes to black art and it’s many expressions. If that’s important to you. It’s modern and top notch.

They weren't fully open, but I was still able to walk around. The staff were really nice and polite. There was a short movie being shown downstairs, and they only asked for a donation, and they offered donuts and coffee. It's definitely worth the visit.
