Food was probably five stars, experience was three at most. Food: The carrot cake, eggplant fritter, and eggplant dish are must-trys. I'd come back just for a full plate of that orange-colored eggplant stew dish. Mac and cheese was pretty good though could have had more sauce. Drumsticks were good, and the cold banana. The bread pudding was a bit dry compared to what I'm used to. Experience: They don't enforce any covid mask rule or limit the number of people, so when i went in there were two others, and by the time I left there was around 10 in that small space. Communication was also difficult behind the glass, not the clearest ordering experience.

Been a vegan for many years (15) , this place is so amazing and the food is so delicious and EVERYTHING is vegan, that means the mac salad, the scones and pastries! It is SO hard to find vegan versions of those options. I have referred a bunch of my friends here and very stoked to be able to support such a great little spot. Very affordable and reasonable pricing too!

I was very skeptical meeting here for lunch, because of the vegetarian menu. But I was happy to discover every dish I sampled to be delicious, even the faux jerked chicken I ordered, with mashed potatoes and plantain. I will definitely be coming back to eat at this place. Oh yeah, the pinapple-banana smoothie was fantastic.

I visited this lovely cafe all the way from California. I've been following the cafe on IG. This Is some of the best Vegan Food I've ever had. I shared it with my father, he didn't believe it was vegan. I said Yes this is Vegan! He was amazed. The food was fresh, delicious and flavorful.

Today was my first time at Uptown Veg. The carrot cake is moist and delicious. The bottled mango was very tasty. I just wish that all of the workers wore masks. I prefer that all food handlers be masked.

Just ordered delivery from here for the first time and I am blown away! Everything is so good. I had to cancel my trip home for Thanksgiving and was searching for something to eat that’s similar to what I would’ve had at home, and this place does it disappoint. The mashed potatoes, candied yams, chicken salad, red velvet cake, chicken sandwich, and pineapple tart are all fabulous! I saw some other items on their website that weren’t listed on Uber Eats so I hope to get there in person to try more. Everyone should eat here!

Incredible vegan food! Open early to get hot savory food by the pound or a salad bar or order off the menu. Amazing taste, texture, and spice and a wide assortment of items and flavors available from the hot bar. Mushroom and soy based protein options. Bread pudding was also delicious and super moist. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back on a future trip.

EDIT: over the last few years this place has gone from really good to bad with the customer service. They do this thing where if they don’t have an item in your order they send whatever they want (sometimes they don’t even call to notify) I had to get a call from seamless and then had to go through a whole process (once it’s in the delivery process you can’t cancel the order and get an automatic refund) to get a refund for a $35 order (which takes 3-5 business days) because they ONLY sent 1 eggnog…(I had ordered 3 eggnogs, two patties, and a smoothie…and all I received was ONE bottle(12oz) of eggnog. This place is a vegan GEM but they have to do better with their customer service. This has happened several times now and warrants me changing my review from 5 starts to 3.

This place has the best vegan Jamaican food. My only gripe about them is that they NEVER call anymore when they don't have your order items so you end up getting half the order. Would like someone to reach out before notifying me that way I don't have items I don't want coming. This is not a reflection on their food quality as it is pristine but please call if you do not have the items that way the customer can decide if they want to cancel the order or not. Unfortunately this has happened on many occasions

I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ UPTOWN VEG!!!! I’ve been coming here for over five years and never thought of you writing a review. It’s long overdue. My favorite items on the menu is hands-down the curry salmon chunks, curry drumsticks and the stewed eggplant. I treat myself every Wednesday. The salmon chunks, which is my #1 favorite, are usually available on Mondays and sometimes I get lucky on Wednesdays, but if they’re not available then I get the curry drumsticks. They have a bunch of savory items on the menu. I usually order from the prepared by-the-pound items. They also have organic salads, burgers, pastries, smoothies, fresh juices, etc.. Even if you’re not vegan you should check out Uptown Veg. It’s YUMMMM!!! 😋

Man it’s so sad how one employee can ruin years of good food and hard work from the owners, I went into the restaurant 9/10/23 at about 1:45 pm you can check the cameras, I’m Hispanic 6’2 with glasses black shirt white beard khaki shorts. I love this place but today the cashier lady gave me so much attitude I left lying saying I couldn’t pay ,it was too much money and went to uptown veg 2 and was treated with fair service and respect , not a side mouth side neck response as to what kind sauce they have , that cashier has a stank attitude problem she needs to get checked by management, and go side snap and fry eggs with her mouth somewhere else I know the owners work hard to keep everything good with food and customer service, my suggestion is if she’s going to treat people like how she did me then she should get a job with zero customer service

must try’s: curry chicken, roti (they sell i on the side 🥳so hard to find in harlem), carrot cake, cassava square they also have a variety of juices , smoothies , patties to choose from - lentil , split pea, callaloo, etc. pretty solid but I personally prefer the ones from Jahlookova. the corn and coconut cake were too dry for my taste but they were not too sweet which i loved. all in all have to say. the friendly staff and nom cassava slices & roti esp have me coming back again and again. a must try at 125th! note that they close earlier - by 8pm ish during these few months but have def been bringing back more of an selection of all items they used to have.

Not going to lie, parking is a challenge for this joint, but if you can find a spot, it’s worth it. Mac & cheese is ok, collards are good, but the drumsticks are amazing! I ordered 2, but they were so good, I could’ve eaten 3, possibly 4. Definitely worth checking out. I had to eat and go.

Nuggets are super good and that burger was very tasty. Prices are about what you would expect from NY Vegan cuisine. Everything we had (was 4 of us) had a good/great taste and didn't break our pockets. Would def go again.

My first time at uptown veg and the food was pretty great the only thing i didn’t like was the collard greens. The egg plant was my fav and the juices are really good as well. I will be goin back whenever I’m in town.

The food is pretty good, I appreciate the service. I’m in and I’m out. If you ever been to a Caribbean restaurant it’s pretty similar atmosphere wise, they don’t get mad or anything when you ask for extra gravy lol all and all I love the food and the service. The Women in front who serve are polite yet stern, and at the end of the nights they help the community. A lot of places just get ride if food. If you know how to order and eat smart this restaurant is the place to go. I miss the curry chick peas tho yall gotta bring that back

I really hate to give such a low review but I must. This place was on my list to visit as I am on vacation from Detroit. I've been vegan since 2019 and and as a black person, having vegan soul food options are a must. I've had some vegan soul food from various palces and they have been excellent, unfortunately Uptown Veg was not of those experiences. I ordered the plantains, greens, mac and cheese, BBQ drumsticks, sweet potatoes, and a slice of carrot cake. The greens needed to be cooked longer as the stems were a bit tough, they also needed salt, garlic, apple cider vinegar, onions, and crushed red pepper. They were flavorless, as was the mac and cheese. The sweet potatoes really should have had more cinnamon or should have been candied in brown sugar. The drumsticks were bland. I could not taste the bbq and when I bit into it, I discovered there was a stick inside to act as a bone. Totally unnecessary. The plantains however, were delicious, as was the carrot cake. I do hope you all do better in the future.

Today was my first time ordering from this place I would have given them 5 stars but the sweet potatoes were were a tad bit undercooked so I nuked them a bit in the microwave. But let me tell you about the Philly Cheesesteak O M G!! the best one I ever had since I stopped eating meat. I had to make sure this thing was actually vegan it was so good! I almost picked up the phone to ask them that's how good it was. It was soooo good!! I could have eaten two of them AAANNND it came on a whole wheat hero not white. I've tried a few vegan places in Harlem but this place so far will be my go too and the prices are not bad, it's wallet friendly. Did I say the Philly Cheesesteak was good!!

Horrible CUSTOMER service again another missed opportunity for us to support our own!!!!! The new price sign states that 1 protein 1starch and 1 veg is $8.49lb so that’s what l ordered proceed to pay and the very matter of fact, rude, ill representative cashier of herself as well as your company told me she doesn’t care whether l purchase or not. So here’s the issue the all protein plate is $9.49 per lb which l ask why my order does not start at $8.49 and she kept quoting the price as if l was ignorant! Our business is to honor our businesses and customers with the bare minimum of respect to charge the quoted price! Apparently there is no representation on management to answer a valued customer question. You should really look into getting your cashier some customer service skill and leave her social casual disregard disrespect for those who have no value certainly not me. She also said that she does not know the difference between 8.49 or 9.49 as the starting point, basic education is important DR. Stamp!

My favorite spot to hit before boarding Metro North. Consistent vegan food and lots of options. Food is mostly very tasty and the crash juice bar is fab. Only Four stars because some of the dishes tend to be too oily, and they use almond milk instead of hemp or soy for a lot of dairy items, so it limits options for folks with nut allergies (like me).

This was my first time dining here and I was impressed from start to finish. I spent 13 years in the restaurant industry so I can be a little critical of restaurants but this place only gets my praise. First thing I noticed was how remarkably clean everything was. Next was how helpful and patient the woman helping us was, she explained what each dish was and gave us recommendations on what was the most popular. The thing that I appreciated most was that this spot is the epitome of Harlem, so if you don’t appreciate the culture and vibe of the neighborhood do us all a favor and find a different spot. I wish them all the success and I can’t wait to go back and share it with my friends.

This place is always consistent. They weight your food which can be helpful when attempting to manage money. My wife and I love their drum sticks!! Not as good as veggie castle, but definitely still good and worth the price.

I’ve been vegetarian since I can remember and haven’t had the Caribbean meat dishes before — the jerk chicken and curry chicken (both vegan) are both amazing (jerk chicken is slightly better). Just dropped by while exploring the city and I’m glad I stopped in. It’s not just plantains, cassava, and potatoes, highly recommend!

This is must stop for me when I am in the city. They have a great selection of healthy food options. The dishes I love most personally the jerk drumsticks. But everything is great!

First time around I went in person for the hard to find carribean juices (like sorrel and sour sop) and baked goods. (no complaints) Second time I ordered online wanting to try some vegan options... The stir fry might even taste better then chicken... and the callaloo patty better then a beef patty to me. Very helpful place (probably the best) for those looking for tasty vegan good options for sure.

Excellent food and smoothies! The women behind the counter are so friendly and "serve food the way they'd like to be served". Can get pricey if you fill your eyes before your stomach, but honestly, vegan oxtail?? They can have all my money gladly!

Pay by the pound amazing vegan food! There were so many delights and I enjoyed sampling so many of their dishes. The eggplant (stew?) was the highlight—it was like fried eggplant in a sauce. So rich and flavorful—all eggplant loves must experience. The drummies were GREAT as always, if you are a meat eater you’re gonna find it amazing how they turned a simple plant protein into a drum stick with such a high payoff. The collards and quinoa fried rice did their job, nothing beyond what you’d expect but very good. And the real surprise was the jerk tofu. I’m not a big fan of jerk seasoning—usually it’s too bitter for me. But this was savory and delicious, and the texture of the tofu (or was it chick’n?) had a density that made it heartier. It was very filling. My partner and I got the big plate and shared it. I wish they had instructed us that it was pay by the pound style, but even so it came out to some $27 and offered 3 very filling meals for us.

My husband and I ordered Grubhub pick up on Saturday. We got the burger wrap, falafel burger, and 2 sides of fries. The food was very good. One complain have is they used thin plastic containers for scolding hot fries. When we opened the bag, the fries burned a hole in the container. I looked up the container max heat and it's 212F and I looked up how hot deep fryer gets which can be 300F to up to 400F. I think the container is BPA free but there's probably some carcinogens from melting the plastic into my fries. I would say avoid the fries if you don't want cancer.

Your cashier that is currently there now 10/18/23 is very bad for your business. I have noticed on several occasions I asked very politely about the food menu and she responded with an attitude and try to dismiss me....I really think you need to hire a more mature and responsible employee...She looks very young and had a lot of attitude....she is light skin and works in the evening...Please retrain her and teach her how to communicate with her customers....Regards, a regular customer and with this attitude you will loose a great customer who also tips very well....
