Spring cafe: Chinatown A vegetarian choice and Tofu lover. I got a lunch box from Spring cafe. I’m not Vegetarian but I believe once awhile you wanna have a lot of vegetable, and tofu because you are sick of meat, aren’t you? My Lunch had Black tofu steak, and tofu spicy curry, with broccoli on side. It’s very simple, and taste not too bad. Tofu steak was so so. But I liked the soft tofu in spicy curry. The texture of Tofu was very chewy. All of this with one water bottle. It’s a steal. Spring cafe was good place. Recommended! #director_eat_out

Vegan juice and sandwich spot with many healthy options. As a health concious person and foodie, i love coming to Spring Cafe for their fresh green juices and tried their sandwiches for the first time today. Very delicious, love the hash brown sandwich.

French fries are the BEST I’ve ever had, so so so so good. I would come back just for the fries. The sweetened hibiscus ice tea was so refreshing. All four of the bao buns they have are pretty good, I think our favorite was the Vegan BBQ pork bao. Would definitely recommend this place!

Love the concept. They have some solid vegan buns. The tofu skin was amazing, and the bbq pork was delicious as well. Both were savory and satisfying. The bun-to-filling ratio is a bit too much for my taste - i kinda wish they stuffed more tofu skins/“pork” in it. Also would be great if the buns were softer and more fluffy, now its a bit flat. But overall tastes great! It’s a very well balanced bun, would come back again.

The bao here are amazing -- I've tried the tofu skin and braised tofu -- and so is the soup. The burgers are a slightly different vibe from traditional burgers, definitely lighter feeling, reminds me of burgers I got in China. I've tried the portobello and the vegan hawaiian burgers. Portobello was great, the vegan hawaiian was a bit too sweet/not burger-y enough for me. The bento boxes are really large portions and pretty good. The fries are amazing! Best part is that everything here is very affordable, a filling meal for easily less than $10.

I had the Bao Buns which were very good. I can't wait to try other selections. Service was fast and cost was reasonable. Fries were crispy and stayed ward for a long time. Enjoyed hibiscus tea. Eat here for lunch a few more times this week and was very pleased. Impossible burger was excellent. Another day I had a wonderful salad bowl and the hot and sour soup which was among the best vegetarian ones I have had.

Solid! It deserves the good reviews. We had a spicer impossible and beyond burger and both were great. The fries were really good.

I can't believe I've never really noticed this spot! Definitely feels like a little hole in the wall despite being right next to the Canal St station entrance. I got the bao combo which contained the vegan bbq pork bao, mushroom bao and hibiscus tea. I paid extra to add on the salt pepper fried mushrooms. Everything was packaged nicely in a to-go bag for me which ensured nothing spilled or leaked on my commute home. Utensils and the straws were compostable which is a nice touch. The baos were a bit messy to eat but really delicious. Two baos were enough to fill me up. I really liked the sauce of the vegan bbq pork bao. The salt and pepper fried mushrooms were crispy and full of umami flavor but probably not the healthiest dish for the arteries. Definitely a once in a while snack. Surprisingly I really enjoyed the hibiscus tea! I've never been a fan of floral teas but this one changed my mind.

What an amazing cafe that serves vegan food. The place inside is small but I’d recommend eating inside. Take out is great too but if you can eat at the cafe, then certainly opt for that option. The staff is so sweet and kind. Always welcoming you with a smile and open heart. I got the bento box (chicken), hot and sour soup, fries, and love fresh juice. Everything was flavorful and clean. Each bite made my inner child so so happy. Thank you Spring cafe for such an amazing meal ❤️

I got the vegan ginger chicken bao bun and the Vegan ham egg and cheese sandwich with a hibiscus iced tea. The bao bun was amazing. The texture and taste of the ginger chicken was amazing though I did wait a little to long to eat it so the bun got a but steamy and condensation built up on it. I bet it would have been even better fresh. Same thing goes for the Ham Egg and Cheese. The sandwich tasted amazing and was very filling. The meal was a solid meal and though it was a little expensive for what you'd expect it was worth it for a good healthy feeling lunch.

Small place that sells all vegan items. Great place to go for a healthy lunch or for a smoothie/juice while in Chinatown. I've gotten their vegan chicken salad and spring sandwich that were made fresh, super good, and filled me up. There's no seating inside but they do have outdoor seating.

Very good. I am a non vegan - I went to spring cafe for a late lunch and ordered the spring sandwich. It comes with all sorts of interesting ingredients that work surprisingly well together - mango, avocado, cucumber, sweet potato etc. I got takeout but there is a good amount of counter style seating for the size of the place. Nice customer service, reasonable prices, and fairly quick service.

Spring Cafe offers a variety of hearty, healthy and yummy vegan options! They have burgers, fries, noodles, sandwiches, baos, salads, Chinese lunch bento boxes, and drinks. The noodle salad I ordered was so large and I could barely finish it all! The price is also very reasonable!! The location is so convenient (right next to the subway). It’s a very cozy place. The decor is cute and welcoming :)

I don't know about other locations, but I love this Spring Cafe so much. The food is incredible, the pricing is perfect, I love the combo options, the staff are wonderful people and extremely efficient. I'm blown away by how good the bao is literally every time I come here, and they make the best fries I've ever had. I need to remember to try their carrot cake next time I'm in <3

My daughter and I loved the food so much! My favorite was the braised tofu skin!! We will definitely return for some vegan delights!

  • 4/5 Will R. 2 years ago on Google
They increased their prices by $2 bucks for the combo we usually get in the past month or two. Unfortunate as I felt it was already walking on the line of being a bit more expensive than it should considering the bao to filling ratios. But I always came back because the fries and the right items are amazing. Inflation sucks.

Best quick vegan food restaurant in the city! Everything is insanely delicious, whether you’re vegan or not, and the staff is super friendly too. I come here all the time, and I will continue to. Love this place!!

Called ahead for pickup to eat at our hotel- SO SO FRESH AND AMAZING. Do not miss this place- their 100% vegan menu, although small, totally delivers! Their smoothies are great and the noodle salad was delicious. Well priced too!

so fresh! lots of flavor. decently priced. got the hawaiian burger which i was hesitant about bc i don’t like mixing sweet and savory very much or fake meat but it was good. nice lil vegan spot if you’re nearby

Absolutely 10/10. The crispy chicken salad was literally so good I have been daydreaming about it everyday since I went here. The ingredients were so fresh (love a shockingly perfect avocado), and I feel like a good vegan “chicken” is hard to come by. This is the place to go if you’re plant-based or interested in testing it out!

Loved the burgers. They are huge for the price we pay and the mix of flavors is perfect. Nice people. Will be coming here often.

My new favorite fully vegan comfort food spot. I’ve taken non-vegans and they loved it. Cute little location right off Canal st but the seating is limited and can get packed easily, so I just order for take-out. The staff is very kind and helpful with questions. Reasonable prices for the portions. Must-try the braised tofu skin bao bun!

The food here is pretty good but it is a little expensive for my taste. They have really interesting flavors so I would recommend to go and try them out at least once. I got a sweet and spicy tofu burger and a hibiscus tea (a combo) for about $17.37,

This place is amazing! Best vegan Asian/fusion food ever. Try the tofu skin bao bun. The bbq one is also amazing. I also love the pineapple ‘chicken’ burger, it is crunchy and little sweet and unlike anything I’ve tried before. The tofu burger great. More of a takeout spot but they do have a bit of outdoor dining now

Tried something new and this place didn’t disappoint. I got the salt pepper vegan chicken bento box. Is was delicious. Great flavor, well balanced, and large portion. This place has a very affordable price point and it’s super healthy. The employees were nice. Also make sure to get a stamp card when you try this place out, because you will be back.

Tried all the boa buns. All completely solid in their own ways, but the Vegan BBQ Pork takes the cake. The perfectly tangy and sweet sauce is addictive. Crispy ends of the mock pork add a perfect texture to each bite. Super quick service. Perfect place to grab a bite and take a break when walking around Chinatown.

Good selection of vegan options. Right by the train, so good stop before taking off. Lemon iced tea was really good. Almost lost my wallet, but staff found it. Great place

My favorite lunch spot near the courthouse where I work! Everything on the menu is vegan, but as a non-vegan, I still absolutely love it. I usually get the spicy noodle salad or the papaya salad. Black pepper mushroom burger is also excellent. Ingredients are always super fresh. I recommend ordering online and picking up because they are often busy (but fast if you can’t do so!).

Not too shabby of a vegan/ vegetarian spot. Burger was filling and it comes with avocado which was nice. The fries are fire though, will go back for the Baos. Edit: I gave it another go a few years later and it's bomb. Had the tofu burger and the crispy mushroom burger (gotta ask for that mustard sauce). That pineapple green tea is something else. Has bits of ginger and lemon slices. Is definitely in my rotation of spots to hit in Chinatown (my pics don't do it justice).

A GREAT vegan Asian restaurant in Chinatown. A tiny hole in the wall with oftentimes a line out the door. Very clean and modern. Full of white customers. I had the beef / tofu skin burger. The tofu was meaty in texture and substantial. I think the bun is a bit sweet though. always order the zhajiang noodle soup warm! The tofu taste like Dan Dan noodles! Delicious.

One of the best Vegan cheap eats in Chinatown. I had two Vegan BBQ Pork Bao Buns with Lettuce and Cucumbers and they were really good. It only cost me $11.53. I will definitely come back to this place to try more of their food. Highly recommend for a cheap Lunch and Dinner.

Such a gift to Chinatown! A really adorable spot! I love their braised tofu bao bun and the noodle soup. Everything is so fresh and such a great value. The staff are always so nice and friendly. You're gonna be an instant fan too!

What an amazing place!! I visited Spring Cafe for lunch yesterday and had the Bento box with Tofu and it was absolutely fantastic. Delicious food, hot, well seasoned, just perfect.

Best vegan food I’ve ever had. The chocolate cake was insane. Don’t get me started on the mushroom fries, which were included for free!

Such a cute little cafe! The coffee is good and the food was tasty. I got the chicken cutlet bowl (forgot the actual name) but it was fresh and the chicken cutlet was really crispy and could pass off as actual chicken. Everything was also very affordable priced. I would def come again to try out their other foods. Also the staff were friendly so that's always a plus.
