Can not recommend any higher! Flavors and texture of all the dishes was incredible. My meat-eating friend said he would convert just for this. Dan Dan noodles were a showstopper, we ate it all within minutes. Also loved the wontons in chili oil. Mapo tofu was painfully spicy but still worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place thinking it wouldn't be so authentic being a modern and hip Chinese restaurant in East Village. All the dishes were super delicious, especially the pea leaves with garlic hmmm so full of umami. A bit disappointed they no longer offer the edamame nuggets, yam puffs and taro fries which we really wanted. Our favorite orders were definitely the pea leaves, scallion pancakes, and the scallion style vegetables with bean curd. I personally enjoyed the crispy eggplant a lot too just I had to eat it by myself as my husband can't have refined sugar thus was super stuffed. The wanton soup tasted a bit too black peppery. Overall the experience was awesome and I look forward to coming back to try more dishes!

I like @spicymoonnyc so much that I’ve been to all their locations multiple times! Don’t expect typical Sichuan cuisine here, but I think of it more as fancier and more authentic American Chinese food - and full vegan, which is awesome! Their mapo tofu has become my go to order. Spicy and smooth, perfect with rice. Another good find this round is the cold sesame noodles. I found it fairly authentic and very delicious!

Straight GAS Szechuan restaurant. One of the best not just vegetarian restaurants but Chinese restaurant in NYC hands-down. The mapo tofu was my favorite, but the Dan Dan noodles were also crazy good. The sauces they make are just seasoned very well and cooked properly to let all they flavors out. I highly recommend those two, but everything is awesome.

For someone who normally doesn’t eat a lot of vegan food, I thought Spicy Moon was delicious. The flavors are great and all the dishes were prepared really well. My favorites were the brussel sprouts and crispy eggplant. We had a large group and they were also very accommodating and friendly.

Alert!! Hands down the best vegan restaurant I've been to. Believe me when I say this is the next spot you will be recommending to all your humans. Try everything on the menu. You won't be disappointed!

Been here twice! This time, tried the dry pot- I loved the way it was cooked, but it was spicy for me. Ordered the mushroom bun and it’s my favorite!! The crisp mushroom with the soft bao bun is such a dream! And of course- wonton in chili oil- yummy as usual( definitely less spicy than the dry pot). The sour cream and spring onion dumpling was a disappointment.

Absolutely my all-time favourite restaurant. Every dish and mocktail is on a whole other level of taste and uniqueness. Just a few of my many favourites at Spicy Moon include the Dan Dan noodles, avocado spring rolls, cumin fries, addictive brussels sprouts, sesame balls...I could go on and on. Also the best vibe ever with a great music playlist, professional pleasant service, and beautiful compassionate artwork about our friends the animals. An INCREDIBLE place.👌💚

neat spot in east village for vegan chinese food! it features a small, compact interior with dim pink lights and a cute and hip vibe. i made a reservation for a weekday dinner with my partner and it was a little crowded and loud given the small space. we got 4 small plates and 1 noodle dish, which was a good amount for us, as we left full and satisfied. (** = highly recommend): - **dan dan noodles with beyond meat: the taste is a bit unique/different from traditional dan dan noodles (likely because they don’t use peanuts), but the dish was really pleasant! noodles had a creamy and soft texture, though overall flavors were more mild, less bold than expected. - **steamed eggplant with pepper sauce: one of my favorite dishes; the eggplant is cooked perfectly— soft yet with a nice crunch before melting into your mouth. it’s a cold dish with distinct szechuan spices and flavor. - general tso’s mushroom: personally not my favorite dish; i felt there wasn’t much flavor beyond the sauce though it had a nice and crispy fried texture. - char siu bun: this dish was just okay, the flavors were a bit bland and not really giving. the texture of the bun itself wasn’t as soft as i would’ve preferred. - scallion pancake: pancakes were crispy and flavorful and the side dip offered a sweet kick to the otherwise savory dish. some of the dishes were definitely quite pricey/overpriced for the size, but i felt that the final price was overall pretty reasonable. all in all, i’d recommend the spot for the good ambience and vegan take on many classic szechuan / chinese dishes.

WOW! Delicious Chinese spicy cuisine cooked to perfection and served with friendliness and efficiency! My friend and made reservations for ~4 PM dinner and started with the Fried Vegetable Dumplings which were crisped and veggies sautéed to perfection. The dipping sauce paired well too, idk the name of it. My friend ordered the Dan Dan Noodles and it was too spicy for her but I tried them and loved the thicc noodles with the spicy flavors and brothy base. I ordered the Mapo Tofu without rice, but my bad, because it would have been good to have something absorb the delicious, spicy, heat of a broth. Plus we ordered one other fried dish which I don't recall the name of but see pic to imagine how crispy, saucy and tasty it was. Plus we were so impressed by the sir serving us who was literally filling up our water, mixing up our noodles, taking orders, seating fellow patrons, dealing with food delivery app orders, and all with a smile and calm/collected attitude. You would think he was some sort of happy octopus. The décor is mad red bc of the lighting so my IG pics aren't the best but idc bc the food was bomb. Plus the music. Ya'll...the music was Chris Brown crooning he's only 17, Drake rapping about his woes, and Ye and Twista telling us how they don't play enough music for the ladies. IYKYK.

I think I end up at spicy moon at least once a month now. It would have to classify as my favorite restaurant at this point. If you can get only one dish please get the dan dan noodles. The flavor is unbeatable.

We came here for dinner, and had such a good time! The food came very quickly and everything was fresh and delicious. We especially enjoyed the cucumbers with chili oil and the scallion pancakes! Would happily come here again.

Trust the reviews— this place is very very good. The food was incredible! Well seasoned (a little salty) but the flavors were delicious. As the other reviews say, even meat-lovers will love this place. I wish they hired more staff. The employees were very friendly and efficient but they were very under-staffed and wearing too many hats.

Update: the Kung Pao Style dish is officially my favorite dish. It’s so so deliciously crunchy and comforting. A new staple in my order! We got the rice noodles with veggies and the stir fry chili glass noodles with Beyond Beef and wow seriously so good!

Delicious vegan restaurant! Actually we didn’t know that it was a vegan place but food was so great! And we love Chinese food so it was perfect 😊 I really recommend mala spicy noodle that i tried on the day. If you love spicy food you should try 😊👍🏻

It was not for my stile or taste. Fried dumplings were too oily and crispy (little burned outside) but undercooked - very spinachy! Vegetable Ramen was too salty and tasted very fermented, though it comes with lots of veggies. Vegetable Lo mein was good. Music was too loud for me, hard to have a conversation inside.

When I’m near Washington square park, i have a habit of visiting spicy moon. I always sit at the bar, and the and the bartender always provides great service. I’ve only had the dry pot and whenever the dish comes out people ask what I’ve ordered because the presentation is so nice!

We ordered through door dash! Was horrible experience! I had the least spicy dish, but it was full in chilly oil with peaces of chilly! Way too spicy. To the extence it even didn't tasted that good and my stomach was irritated. Also my boyfriend who loves spicy, it was too spicy for him.

Full moon rising! Totally delicious mapo tofu and den den mein. I really enjoyed the peanutty vibes of the den den mein and the mouth numbing qualities of the soft mapo tofu. Hot but definitely not too challenging. Upon polishing off the dishes my insides felt like I’d been sat in a spice sauna, perfect for a rainy grey day in the East Village. The restaurant itself is a cosy bijou nook bathed in pink ambient light and adorned with gashapon style nik naks. Hip without pretension, hot without perspiration. Recommended.

Amazing food - One of the best restaurants to go to in the city for Vegans. Dan Dan noodles had really good flavour. Spicy bun’s filling could’ve been better.

I literally LOVE this place. It’s pretty small at this particular location in the East Village, and for those who like a little room, it could feel cramped. But I honestly cannot even care about my arm space when the food is THIS damn good. My ultimate favorites are the wonton in chili oil. I can eat that every day for dinner. I’ve tried at-least five different dishes on the menu, and although I have my favorites, I’m obsessed with the food at large. I wish I’ve taken more photos, but take my word for it. This place gets packed so be sure to make a reservation if you’re planning to go for dinner time. Truly one of my favorite vegan restaurants in NYC.

Details, details The menu at this venue can seem a bit overwhelming for some (including oneself) but luckily staff are on hand with some helpful recommendations and the ability to wax lyrical about everything on the menu - something now lacking at many New York establishments. We had a really lovely mix of dumplings and noodles. Food was plentiful and more than enough to get us through the New York Halloween parade! Looking forward to my next visit

First impressions were incredibly friendly waitstaff and environment. We were bouncing from place to place so only had a few small bites. We ordered the Vegetable Spring Roll, Spicy tofu bun and Char Siu Shiitake Bun. Everything was fresh and delicious. Would definitely return!

We went here for lunch. I had the dan dan noodle and my friend had the fried tofu and we shared the crabless rangoon. I thought the rangoon was very delicious and goes well with the sauce. However, the Dan Dan noodle felt very heavy in msg so it was too salty for my tastes and the portions were huge. A bit overwhelming. The tofu was also good and I like the texture but the veggies were a bit bitter. We enjoyed the ice thai tea a lot though

The food is decent. We waited for 30 mins to get a table. Of a walk in that was fine. It’s a busy place and they encourage reservations. It’s vegan, and no drinks. I would have loved for the spice level to be higher. 3 stars only cause the food didn’t live up to the Sichuan standards. They are busy and maybe we don’t order the right food on the menu. Will give it a try again.

My favorite Chinese restaurant. Vegan Szechuan is fantastic. Definitely a good spot to try

It's much easier to make great food vegan than it is to make vegan food great. Disappointed with the quality and uniqueness of the dishes, and the vibe of the place is not what I'm looking for. Happy I tried, but would not return!

Good food, quick service. I am a vegetarian and their menu had great variety. We did not had to wait long for food. The place is a bit small but overall recommended for vegetarians spicy Chinese food. Super affordable and the portioning is decent for two to share. Highly recommended.

Wonderful comfort food! Went here with non-vegans and everyone was impressed and satisfied. Definitely get the Kung Pao Tofu and the string beans!!! Will return.

I’ve loved Spicy Moon for a few years now, and they are staple to downtown for me. A great place for people who want to please a crowd and make it all vegetarian! I first loved their East Village location, and I’m now a patron to both. I’m so happy as to how it has evolved. Definitely get the dan dan noodles, peppercorn brussels sprouts, their lychee martini, spring rolls, fried rice. There is something for everyone.

Delicious food, fast service, and surprisingly large portions. Limited seating especially during the dinner hour but takeout is a great option.

This place was AMAZING!!! Ambience was great, service was friendly and the food was legitimately some of the best food I’ve ever had. Essential stop for vegans and non vegans. Cannot wait to head back to the city to try out more from their menu.

The spicy chili oil dumpling is amazing. All other dishes are also so tasty, staffs are so nice and I like the music they play.

The food is excellent. Very tasty and fresh. The DanDan Noddles are to die for. The food’s a bit salty overall for my taste and their house white wine was awful. Stick to beer

Delicious vegan food, great prices, nothing felt too unhealthy or “heavy”. Highly recommend the fried mushrooms, sauce was outstanding. And try the mapo tofu if you want something !!spicy!! and healthy. Enjoyed my food each time, and will definitely be back. It’s a small place so it’s either empty or full (as w most Gems of NYC) so be prepared to wait just in case; it’s worth it!

One of my new favorites! So flavorful and perfectly prepared. The drinks were delicious as well
