Classy rooftop bar tucked away in Hudson Square. Great scene from afternoon to early AM closing. Drinks are expensive, as per rooftop usuals, but you are paying for the ambiance. And the cocktail pitchers are delicious and dangerous (because they are oh-so-drinkable).

While it is lacking in terms of available space, food, and drinks, come here for it with amazing views. If you want a great rooftop bar that gives you an excellent view of the financial district as well as Jersey, this is it. Several of us came here a few nights ago to enjoy a great view while the weather was nice in New York City. This is pretty far away from any close subway stations, but if you have the opportunity come here, I definitely would for the views alone.

Had an unsettling experience with this place. About 2 weeks ago I arrived about 10 minutes before the end of happy hour. I told the host that it was just me for happy hour and requested outdoor seating. . He was very pleasant and informed me that the outdoor rooftop was completely full and recommended that it's best to come right at 5:00 to ensure a place outdoors. So yesterday I came right at 5:00 p.m.. A different host told me they only seat hotel patrons and that they don't take any less than a party of two for happy hour. (For happy hour???!) First off if that is true it should be stated on the website. And secondly why didn't the first guy tell me that? Which makes me think based on other reviews that some of the staff are adopting the strategy of turning away smaller parties. Have to say, I eat out extensively at both expensive and more modest places and even when I'm by myself, I have never had ANY venue flat out refuse to take me as a customer in a first come first serve situation. Just plain disrespectful and a bad look, to put it mildly, when people are starting to venture out as paying customers. And how do they know that I wouldn't bring friends or family here at a later date? Well after this shoddy treatment the answer is a definite NO.

Amazing space, stunning view. Visited there 12/16/19. Our service was so spot on with Ariel. She was attentive, kind and shared the history of the hotel and bar. They were having a private party and Ariel and the staff let us know right away at 5 pm that we would have to vacate at 6 pm. A wonderful experience and we will be back!

This place is a fantastic bar! 🍸 Bar Hugo, conveniently located on the top floor of the Hugo Hotel πŸ›οΈ, serves a great selection of cocktails 🍹 and beers 🍺 with affordable happy hour rates 🏷️ ($12 cocktails and $6 for beers 🍻, ends at 9pm). Definitely try the Fireside Cocktail πŸ”₯ that has scotch πŸ₯ƒ, apple 🍎 cider, honey 🍯, and egg whites πŸ₯š. The view πŸŒ† is great, the ambience 🎢 is fantastic, and their music playlist πŸŽ›οΈ is out of this world 🌍 (!) - an AMAZING mix of late 2000 hits! 🎚️ The staff πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ is super friendly and welcoming, especially Barbara the manger! πŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό Will definitely come back! I wish I knew about this place earlier!

Sitting atop the Hotel Hugo, the Bar Hugo (one floor underneath the true rooftop, Azul) may be a little out of the way, but it's a good spot for a drink, and boasts some pretty great views of Hudson River, Freedom Tower, and even the Statue of Liberty. And on the east side, some of the more iconic skyscrapers. It feels a little posh and the crowd may reflect that, but the music is just loud enough to feel without making conversation hard, and the menu is a little pricey but good. If you're looking for something less formal, head up one more floor for a less posh feel at Azul.

Small quaint rooftop with beautiful views. Great for an after work happy hour. The drinks were delicious and nicely crafted. I went on a Thursday evening a the roof was lively and they were playing reagatton. Call ahead for rooftop availability.

Bar Hugo was an interesting experience. First and foremost their system for reservation is very tedious. You have to email the place and wait for a response then in your email response they tell you to respond in four hours (although I don’t think they stick to this). Then it wasn’t made clear that the rooftop does not do happy hour pricing so if you’re reserving under that assumption know that is not the case. The side of the rooftop facing New York sadly has construction in the eye line which is somewhat of an eyesore. That being said staff was extremely polite and attentive. The drinks were okay (they don’t provide straws so some drinks were harder to drink-we were offered plastic sporks for frozen drinks). The food was delicious. We had sliders, calamari, hummus, artichoke spinach dip, fries, and steak tacos. They were very accommodating to my friend with dairy restrictions. The sliders were delicious. If you manage to catch the sunset you will be lucky! It was extremely gorgeous. Overall a decent experience but they def need to be clearer about the bar/rooftop and happy hour. My favorite things were the sliders and the spicy fries!

Absolutely stunning view!! It is a bit out of the way to get to, and currently near construction, but you will be happy once you arrive. The drinks and food are as good as any, but the real reason to come here is the view. Definitely try to be there for sunset!

We came here at sunset and loved the beautiful views. The food and drinks were delicious too. I highly recommend the calamari and spicy margarita. The bar has a nice, elegant atmosphere too.

beautiful view! good cocktails & tacos too! you can either sit and view the city or sit and view the water, both cozy spots. music was a litttttle loud though. great spot to meet with friends.

Went late on a Friday and had a great time! Beautiful view of the Hudson and NJ! Our large group was able to snag a big seating area close to the balcony. Music was especially good at times and one of the staff members made sure we had a great time!

We had a private family event here on a Saturday from 2-5pm and could not have more positive things to say! First off, the space itself works wonderfully for a sit/stand cocktail party. The views of the skyline were stunning, and the ability for folks to walk out on the deck to enjoy some of the (unseasonably warm) fall NYC weather was wonderful. The quality of the food was very decent. The highlight of the event was our hostess/bartender Barbara, who seemed to be in a million places at once and cultivated such a warm and fun atmosphere. I definitely recommend checking out this space!

The staff at this place acts as if they are doing you a favor for allowing you the privilege of spending money at their mediocre bar. There are plenty of other rooftops bars with views of downtown Manhattan. I would highly recommend trying any other one. Incredibly rude and unprofessional staff, especially the bouncers.

Tonight there was an Asian waitress who was extremely rude, she sat us down at a table and told us later on I might have a party coming in which I was totally fine with. 5 min after, she comes back, manages to take our order partially as all of us were not ready. Then literally one minute after, she says you need to go because I have a reservation. Who the help does that!!! We actually refused and she never showed up, had to go get our drinks from the bar ourselves. I would definitely would not come back thanks to this horrible waitress

Brando was my server. He was great, fast, friendly, welcoming and accurate. We were also checked on by a server named Kellan who if you don’t mind me saying has beautiful eyes. Would definitely come again! Great views even better service and better yet drinks!

Staff was super nice and accommodating! They let us know the area was closed for a private party but let us stay around and see the views for an hour before the event started
