I stopped in this sweet little spot for a late brunch while I was in the area. Since I didn't have a reservation, I opted for a seat at the bar, and I was waited on by Mia. She was friendly, attentive, and could really whip up a really great Bloody Mary. My Crispy Pollo Loco with Butternut Squash Fries came out fast, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and the fries had a great crunch and were soft on the inside. They have a great menu selection with exceptionally reasonable pricing for NYC. The place may be a bit cramped, but it is clean, and they have a cute bathroom. I definitely recommend and will most certainly stop in again the next time I pass through the area.

Came for brunch. Small space but they really pack folks in so it is a little cramped when people are walking around. I got the chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious and fluffy. SO got the crab cake Benedict and it was bland. Service was good given how busy they were at the time. I was told by the hostess there was a one hour time limit which makes sense with the space so maybe not the place to hang for a while, but would recommend if you’re close by!

We picked this restaurant because of the high ratings and it was walking distance from our hotel. It was a pleasant experience. They were busy but we were seated right away with a two hour eating limit. We sat outside in the walkway behind the restaurant. Nice atmosphere but cold at times. The our server was great and we received our food in a timely manner. We tried the grilled avocado Benedict and the crab cake Benedict. The food was fresh. The grilled avocado was amazing! The smoky taste was delicious. I’m convinced no one has decent crab cakes except for Maryland. The crunchy French toast were thick slices and the caramelized bananas were firm. The combination was tasty.

My experience was great, went here on a Sunday for brunch to wrap up a birthday girls trip. The place was intimately seated, we sat at the family style table in the center. Our food was amazing! The crunchy French toast, steak and eggs, and Buffalo Cauliflower were so delicious! The service was also great, very friendly staff. I will definitely add this to regular places to eat on my next visit to NY. Thanks Reese

I visited The Blue Dog on a rainy Thursday, September 23rd 2020 with a friend visit from abroad. Ordered Spinach artichoke dip for $17 (dollars), which had more grease and oil in it, than actual spinach or artichokes. Dipping grilled sourdough crostini, that came with it, helped to absorb the oil… fortunately they took it back with no objections. French country chicken for $27 was instead of prepared before the service , was reheated, and, on top of all, dry. The Blue Dog has a great selection of the Fresh Pressed Juices. The “Immunize” version was switched by the kitchen to the Glorious Detox, and the waiter (not ours) tried to convince me that this juice is exactly what was ordered. The glorious waitress saved the day by actually checking with the kitchen, and they acknowledged the switch. Anyway, it was a great place to wait till the rain will pass

It's gorgeous place. The staff is very professional, kind and quick. The food is delicious and the prices are not completely out of touch with reality. The only problem is that you probably want to try too many items as they all sound delicious, but if you aren't a competitive eater you'll probably have to come back a few times ;) I certainly will come back!

I came here for my birthday and had a reservation for 10 people. We had to wait in line 20 minutes before a host saw us to be seated. We only had a choice of an outdoor table which was disappointing because it was so hot. There were only 9 chairs and we had 10 people so they grabbed us another chair and made it felt inconvenient for them. I had called ahead of time and asked if I could bring a birthday cake and they said yes. When I asked to put the cake in the fridge they seemed bothered. I ordered an omelette and it was overcooked and the side of breakfast potatoes- they give you like a couple of small potatoes. With a $21 omelette. IHOP gives you more potatoes. Pics below for portion. Other people’s plates were the same. When it came time to the cake, they brought my cake out in the box and placed it at the table. Normally, restaurants with GOOD SERVICE will take the cake out of the box in the back, light the candles for you and bring it out and sing happy birthday. They did not do this. They left it at the table IN THE BOX and we had to sing happy birthday amongst ourselves and cut the cake and ask them for forks (we bought our own disposable plates) they didn’t offer anything for the cake! Birthday girl had to cut her own cake and out the candles on herself. And then had to chase them down to at least bring us some waters! For a big group spending close to $500 it was the least they could’ve done. Very VERY disappointing and will not be coming back here!!

Great little place with very friendly staff, we did love the food. How amazing the French toast was, we thought that maybe the thickness of the bread would leave the inside uncooked, but it was not! The whole thing was amazing. Also the chicken and waffles I can only recommend, I love the spicy sauces on the side!!

This place is wonderful. We had an emergency wedding at this place and they accommodated us very well. Bori or boris made sure that we get the best service we can have for such an immediate occasion. I can't thank you enough for making it possible for us to be married in such a critical time and with great privilege my wife and I would be forever grateful for this beautiful place. Service wise, 100% food? Perfectly executed. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you you!

A beautiful location for a restaurant. The outdoor seating is in a breezeway of the Worldwide Plaza which kept the customers cool from the summer sun. The service was relatively quick although a bit disorganized. The Cobb Salad was pretty flavorless but the Asian Salad was very good. Fries were soggy but okay. Decent restaurant for before a Broadway matinee.

A solid place for casual brunch with friends and family. The crunchy French toast is consistently good, which comes with caramelised maple bananas. The other dishes are pretty mid, but generous portion sizes.

Came for dinner and drinks. The drinks were very good - afternoon menu has some fruity drinks with almost a smoothie consistency, and the dinner bar menu has more standard cocktails. The food was disappointing for the price. I ordered a burger medium rare, and it was overcoocked - definitely well done. I ordered Parmesan fries, and they came out as regular fries. The server was happy to replace them, but the replacement fries were clearly rushed - very undercooked and soggy.

We had a nice pre-theater meal at The Blue Dog. Food was great. We really liked the Notorious DOG burger with butternut squash fries. Make sure to get the butternut squash fries whatever you order. The butternut squash kale salad was also a big hit. The drinks were more hit or miss. The Blissful Barcelona combined tequila and port into a unique drink that I highly recommend. The Glen Coco gin drink was an experiment that should never have made it to the menu. The Saint Citron drink came incompletely mixed so the first half was not so good but the second half enjoyable. The server was stretched too thin and not particularly good at recommending options. But, the owner / host stepped in a few times to help the server so in total our experience was good.

Pretty okay to solid brunch spot in a good location without it being too crowded. The inside is pretty cramped but the outside is spacious. The food is about a 3/5 but the staff is 5/5, super attentive and kind. I wanted to know what grilled avocado was and now I can rest easy.

You GOTTA eat here. Maybe it was the timing, weekday 2pm, but the service, food and drinks were all on point. The Pollo Loco burger was SUPER. Fresh, piping hot and the flavours were just perfect. (Skip the bacon maybe). While we sat inside, the vibe outside was great too. Brunch 100%

It was super easy to make a reservation. Great location. Service amazing, starting with the hostess, and all the staff. Food was super tasty. Not to big portions, but great combination. The place is very small inside , but they have plenty tables outside. Also have a full bar. Totally recommend.

Great food! The home fries were out of this world !!! My partner and I went there for brunch everything from the ice coffee to the food we got were a 10/10. Great service quick, attentive. Very clean and organized. I got the grilled avocado eggs Benedict and shared the french toast. I have never had such an amazing french toast before! Cute small dine in area with a covered outdoor (not on the street) area that connects two buildings. Definitely recommend and portions are big, so go hungry or don’t over order.

This was our last breakfast in NY and we were very glad to have chosen The Blue Dog. The location is very convenient and was easy to get to. There was a bit of a wait as the place is fairly small and was tightly packed. The food was great, flavorful and came out relatively quickly. I would definitely recommend this spot for breakfast or brunch.

Went for Brunch with my teamies after run. When they said outdoor Sitting I thought it was on streets but to our surprise it was hidden outdoor like an alley. Every dish seemed tempting so asked the server for recommendations and he recommended salmon burger which was amazingly delicious. The salmon was grilled to it’s perfection it just melted in my mouth. Truffle fries were good too and hibiscus drink was yum. It was worth the price. Wanna go again to try rest of the menu. Everyone seemed nice & friendly. Update: went in again for brunch after my virtual NYC marathon. Chicken & waffle was yumm with dirty hot chocolate to pair with. Can’t wait to go back again.

We had brunch here on Saturday and it was lovely. The avocado toast was divine! The only thing to keep in mind is the space is compact and they have a big communal table so don't be surprised if you end up sitting with other people. We didn't mind it so it was fine, but I did notice other groups come in and leave shortly after. It was about a 30 min wait for Saturday brunch.

The restaurant is closed and their website is not updated (still indicates that the patio is accessible for outdoor sitting). I sent an email and never received a reply. The OpenTable reservation was not cancelled by them. Not serious

The food here tastes fantastic - I had the chocolate chip pancakes which comes with a fruit compote and some kind of chocolatey sauce. Really classy place with good service too. Docking it 1 star just because I found the menu to be a bit too pricey.

Stopped in for dinner, everything was delicious and the cocktails were fantastic. The service from walking in to leaving was great! Be prepared, it is a small restaurant, go in knowing you might now end up with a ton of space but everything else about the Blue Dog makes up for it.

Tiny restaurant with full of people. About 50 min waiting for lunch on Saturday. All employees are so friendly and attentive. Foods are all delicious, especially their french toast, which was top-notch and lovely plated. It's just too crowded.

What a cute place! We came for a later breakfast and even though we didn’t have a reservation, we got a table right away. Everyone was attentive and nice, our food came out incredibly fast, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We even got a to go order which came out faster than the second round of cocktails we ordered. I would definitely recommend eating and drinking here.

Overall: it’s all hype and no substance. There are better brunch restaurants in NYC to take your business. Service: Really slow. They might be understaffed. The food took 35 mins to come out from the time we placed the order. Also they don’t really honor reservations. We had a reservation but still had to wait 20 mins while they let those who walked in without reservations before us. Ambiance: Their outdoor area is a wind tunnel so wear a warm layer. They barely have any seating indoors so it’s likely you’ll get outdoor seating. Food: food was average. Probably cause it took such a long time. The coffee came out cold so I had to send it back.

Strange little place with seriously delicious food. Choose outside —- it’s kinda “inside”. Inside is SMALL with a high probability that you will in some way involved with people waiting for bathroom that is in middle of restaurant. That said, the food was really delicious. We had the dumplings to open and shared the Notorious D.O.G. burger that was cooked to perfection.

Good brunch place with classic bites. The space was small and had an interesting layout. Not the best place for large groups but fine for 2-3 people. Highly recommend trying to make a reservation if you’re coming here.

Everything was great except for the coffee! (It was just not hot enough for me) Loved the vibe inside, and the waiter was nice enough to let us sit inside when the table opened up. Saw people constantly coming in in the morning so maybe go early.

Very nice food. Thought some of it was a bit overpriced for what it was but good food. Oddly kept playing the Greatest Showman on repeat(?), love a bit of the Greatest Showman but not on repeat throughout our entire meal. I also wish the salted caramel chocolate cake I got had been served warm, even lukewarm. It was very cold. Would come back

Great food and great atmosphere, but the true star of the show was the service - my parents and I both agreed this was among the friendliest and most attentive service we had ever recieved at a restaurant. Every single member of the staff made our family feel welcome and attended to with every need and every question we had, and were more than happy to accomodate any requests. We ended up getting two mugs to bring home to remember our wonderful outing by. Thanks for an unforgettable family night out!

Small and quaint but beautiful. The staff were very welcoming and professional. Now on to the food… it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had in NYC. It’s nice to get the quality you pay and look for. The star was the raspberry white mocha, completely balanced. You get all the flavors of the raspberry, white mocha, and coffee. Will be back!

Our first meal in the city was at Blue Dog! Enjoyed amazing customized omelets in a cozy small space. Wasn’t happy that they charge me $3.50 for an iced tea refill (it’s basically water!) but leaving five stars anyway since the food and service were excellent.

This place was so good! It was the best chicken and waffles I have ever had! No joke! The place is pretty small so make rservations if you can or expect to wait. We were told we would have to wait an hour+ , but we ended up sitting outside even though it was kind of cold. Didn't ruin the experience though. We had a great time

Loved the food here!!! I came here with a friend on a Saturday for brunch before a Broadway show without a reservation, they did look very busy already but was still able to seat us within 15-20 minutes. The food was truly amazing - the pumpkin french toast was unique and absolutely scrumptious. Service was great too. The only thing is seating is EXTREMELY cramped and someone spilled all over me when trying to squeeze by with a drink in their hand. Still, other than tight spaces and easy, loud eavesdropping from the seat neighbors, the ambience is fun and the food more than makes up for it. Highly recommend!

Worth the wait - about 1hr. Service was great, food was delicious. French Onion soup was especially delicious. Burger (Empire State of Mind) was hard to fit into my mouth, but otherwise interesting combo of flavors. Definitely will return as there are things on the menu I still want to try!

Loved this place - turned up on spec and was seated quickly. Efficient and polite service, excellent selection of dishes at reasonable prices, great coffee, and a nice buzz within the cozy space. Very good

  • 2/5 Zackary C. 1 year ago on Google
The Hostess was very nice and friendly and the atmosphere was very upbringing! The problems started once we were seated. After our server took our order we only saw them 2 other times. One was when we asked for three more pairings of silverware because we were three short, but the server never ended up bringing them so we had to ask the worker who brought our food for them. Our water glasses were consistently empty and our food took 40 minutes to come out. The food had a great presentation, but the taste for the most part was sub par. The two dishes that did stand out was the chicken and waffles and Huevos Rancheros. I’m not sure if that was just a fluke experience, but for the price of everything and the amount you have to wait for your food I will not be returning.

Good place for a quick brunch. This place was nice and everything tasted good. I prefer other places but if you're in the area and ned a quick bite to eat I would go here. We ordered a variety of things including the French toast, the Caesar salad and avocado toast. These things were good and surprisingly the salad had much flavor. The French toast is definitely a feature on the menu and it was really good. Staff was friendly and was a good environment. Overall 8/10

Found this place while looking for brunch on a Monday morning near the theatre district. We were seated right away (it was probably 75% full indoors but many outdoor seating options) and had a very attentive staff. We ordered the Steak and Eggs and Chicken and Waffles which were both delicious. I would definitely visit again if I was in the area!

It was my girlfriends birthday and we reserved a table almost 3 to 4 days in advance when we got there we were told there was no inside tables, and without being notified before my arrival even though my contact information was provided through open table no calls were made or warnings about seating outside.I had no jacket as I was expecting to sit indoors. I then arrived and was brought to a table without even an offer for indoor seating. We then we brought to the furthest table available of the outdoor area with no heater and the wind on my back constantly. We then waited 10 minutes and nobody even showed up to provide any beverages or even water so we just left.. Horrible first experience and very upset as the food looked appetizing and we were excited to try the dining, but the experience was ruined from my first conversation with the staff to the abandonment of us at outdoor table.

My meal was just okay. My potatoes were a bit undercooked and the crunchy French toast was not as I expected. I thought the crunchy crust would have a corn flakes flavor and texture. Instead, it was more like shake and bake in both texture and flavor. It was still good, just not great. I will add that they've used their location well. The circular hallway outside their restaurant is a good location for outside dining.

Came on a Friday at noon. sat outdoors. The staff were all very attentive and were nice. I got the Salmon burger since it was my first time trying a salmon burger and it was good. Wasn’t anything mind-blowing but it’s okay. Went well with the beets in it. I also got a side of Brussels sprouts that was good. This place is adorable. And the layout of their outdoor seating is very unique as well. Would come back out here again. I ordered the salmon burger on the rarer side and it definitely wasn’t - was well done. But I’d still come back and would recommend The Blue Dog! :)

We waited over 10 mins to be seated, we were told 3 times that a host will be right with us, but nobody came even though the restaurant was half empty.. we just left, guess they can't handle too many people..

Table for five? Here, let us direct you to a TV table. Don't believe they can accommodate parties more than two.

We stumbled upon this place for breakfast. Such a hidden gem! Food was excellent. I got the avocado toast and my friend got the eggs Benedict. Both were delicious and very generous portions. We then ordered smoothies to go the queen of the jungle and Uber antioxidant were so delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and the best part was the welcoming and kind staff. They were all gems. Highly recommend!

From the moment me and my girlfriends entered this little, cozy and welcoming establishment we were greeted by a very nice host. Our brunch was absolutely fantastic, from the moment I got my delicious espresso to our mouthwatering food. That was by far the best smoked salmon avocado toast I’ve ever had. Now the highlight of our brunch was our awesome and attentive and just a great human being,Danijel. He was an absolute delight, providing an outstanding and exceptional service . Danijel definitely made our brunch a memorable one . We can’t wait to go back
