Sottocasa is one of the best pizza places in all of NY. If you’re worried that a trip to Harlem is “too far” you should reconsider. It doesn’t matter what pizza you order, you will enjoy it. Everything is delicious! The staff are friendly, the vibe is lovely, and the food is delicious! They have an extensive craft beer list and the beer bottle come out in a bucket of ice. Overall it’s an incredible place and needs to be highlighted because it’s too good not to share with others! Will be back 100%

Great authentic, brick oven, Italian pizza. The pizza is delicious, they use natural ingredients. The restaurant is comfortable, not too loud and very clean. The pizza was ready in no time. Best pizza place in Harlem

Sottocasa has been a neighborhood favorite for years. The wood-fired pizza is some of the best in the city--the dough has the perfect flavor and chew! Wine is excellent and affordable. Good beer options too! Also good gluten free and vegetarian options for my friends with dietary restrictions.

Highly recommend this restaurant for its food & its atmosphere. Enjoyed: cappuccino, iced coffee, burrata plate, 4 stagioni, parmigiana, & flourless chocolate cake w strawberry&whipped cream. Server Sandra was very helpful. Will return to this restaurant.

Super cozy Italian restaurant. It was good food, many kinds of pizzas. The pizzas were baked in a real pizza oven. The pizza crust was on the thin side. Definitely recommended.

Here’s the deal : this spot is the definition of a 5 star place. Why? Consistency. These amazing people never…NEVER fail to deliver. Each and every time the pizza is on point. Plain and simple. The freshest of the freshest Italian ingredients and a dough that’s to die for. Kudos to these amazing Italian fellas, who manage to keep the bar extremely high as to how brick oven pizza should be always served. Edit (after visiting over 20 times, these past 7-8 months) : this place never fails. Never ever. I wish I could give an extra 5 stars. If you’re new here and want a suggestion : Tartufata & Diavola. Possibly the two most delicious pizzas you’ll ever have, in your life. (We’ve tried multiple and were all delicious and on point…but these two are just something special! See photos…)

This is by far my favorite pizza place in NYC, which is saying a lot. They nail it every time with the pizza, but the salads, wine, desserts, etc are all stellar. They've created a lovely atmosphere, both indoors and outside, and the owners are WONDERFUL. They bend over backward to make everything as enjoyable as possible, are extremely attentive to special requests, and very professional in their demeanor. They also understand that dining out is not just about slapping good food on the table in front of you, but rather the entire experience; and they manage to do it in a humane, non-pretentious way. I'm so so relieved they've survived the pandemic, and can continue bringing pizza and happiness to all of us up here in Harlem <3

I don’t leave reviews often but I had to compliment this restaurant because of how great this pizza was for take out. We got 2 types of prosciutto pies one with white sauce & mushrooms , one with red sauce, both were amazing & flavorful. Thanks so much !

I have been there twice in a matter of 10 days. Excellent pizza. Having gone to Italy several times the pizza is just like that. The owners are Italian and you will hear lots of preggo and allura in their words! The food is incredible, I leave full and overjoyed. Everytime!! Plus they make excellent lattes, probably better than Starbucks. A favourite place. Definitely great to bring kids, family and friends to celebrate. The atmosphere is nice welcoming and the entire staff is extremely friendly.

Our favorite pizza place in all of NYC (maybe the world), exceptional service, unbelievably tasty pizza, great beer selection. Try the pink IPA with your pizza, and follow it up with their delicious lemon sorbet, you won't regret it.

Nice quiet place and there are certain people who may like this style of pizza, but this is not my case. I didn’t like it because the pizza was wet on the bottom- it came on a ceramic plate, it was not crispy, it was gummy and burned. I guess the fire was set not good so the dough was not cooked well and the toppings where warm. The pizza with prosciutto has to be cut throughly, it is uncomfortable to separate the slices.

We went there for our son birthday. He is the one who picks this place. He loves all the pizzas, tiramisu, chocolate tratufo. Desserts itself are great. Don't forget their cappucino is excellent.

Little cute neighborhood pizza spot. The pizza is great, and the vibe is casual. The owner was chilling and chatting with people at the bar as we ate

Amazing little Italian spot. The pizza was super fresh and authentic. It’s a little hard to see unless you’re right in front since it’s almost like a basement entrance. The lights and atmosphere were extremely enjoyable and romantic with a little candle (electric) on each table. They had tables for two and the service was top tier. I swear I just looked towards the server and they knew what I needed. I’d definitely stop by again if I’m feeling the craving for Italian style pizza. It was reasonably priced and a super cute spot for a date or just to relax. There were lots of options on the menu as well.

I live close by and this has been our favorite spot for eating out (or ordering) for years. Certainly the best Italian style, thin crust, pizzas in Harlem (and beyond maybe). Great selection of beers and wines as well.

Great selection of Italian beer and pizza! Pizza is amazing! The food never disappoints. Plenty of vegetarian options. So glad to have this gem in Harlem!

We had the most amazing pizza and salads at this gem of a restaurant. Adorable atmosphere and everything tastes freshly made and delicious. My friend who has to eat Gluten Free said their homemade GF dough was phenomenal and that it actually tasted like real pizza. Would highly recommend for anyone GF or not looking for delicious food in a cozy and romantic atmosphere.

Best pizza in NY! The marguerita is very tasty and the pizza alla Nutella is the perfect dessert. Besides that the place is cozy and as informal as it should be.

Was great was here with a reunion of my old friends and the pizza and wine were outstanding. One of the best pizzas in New York and that says something.

Has a variety of delicious and interesting pizza… Especially the white cream pumpkin and also has excellent basics like margaritas. Loved the Italian desserts. Wine selection was superb.

Amazing pizzas. Our party was very satisfied with our dinner and experience. The waiter was super kind and made us laugh each time she visited. The atmosphere is calm and enjoyable and everything is priced appropriately. Would definitely recommend if you are strolling around Harlem ever!

I rarely review restaurants, as I’m rarely impressed by the food I eat in restaurants. Sottocasa deserves to be known by all foodies out there, so I really hope after reading this you settle on Sottocasa. All my friends (even the difficult ones) and I were all pleasantly impressed by the wood fired pizza. I personally had the Reginella pizza with a Rughetta salad, and I melted down after every single bite. From the dough to the mozzarella, every single ingredient exploded with flavor. There is no doubt the chefs uses the best ingredients they can find in New York! My feelings while eating are just indescribable! The last time I felt this while eating a pizza, I was visiting my family in Napoli. This is a must-try little gem! The atmosphere feels warm and cozy from the moment you walk down the stairs. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. They also have an impressive selection of imported Italian beers. The Nazionale was delicious! Please go; you won’t regret the trip to South Harlem!

Great meal, friendly staff, and the pies were legit—great crust with perfect amount of char on edges and perfect sauce & toppings. We tried one with a truffle spread and mushrooms that was different and very tasty.

Oh how I love New York. Their service, their food, their desert all excellent. I was so happy after ordering appetizer and pizzas, we ordered desert. They have so much personality here. It’s a wonderful representation of Harlem.

Comfort food + fantastic quality pizza. Go to dishes are Diavola or margherita. Dolci is among the best menus in the area. Tartufo and tiramisu are to die for 🤟🏽

The Sourdough base is to die for and its just the beginning. I've had the pleasure of meeting the owner, she's sincere and true to quality through and through. Everything we've ordered we've enjoyed and I csn say this is our favorite pizza spot. But its more than a pizza restaurant, its unique, the ingredients and cooking are really special and they deliver consistent quality. Definitely worth the money Definitely give them a try.

I mean. FINALLY. A real pizza. Feels like a good pizza home in Italy! Well done guys, keep the quality and the smiles please!! I both dined in and did take away. Take away was super quick! I’ll keep coming to Harlem for a good pizza then 😊

Consistently the best wood-fired pizza I've had in NYC. Chill dining space with incredible pizza options. Their dough is chewy but soaks up the sauce. I've never had a bad pizza here.

Hands down one of the best pizza in NYC !Located in the beautiful Harlem with easier access to parking. Service is excellent and friendly. Can’t pass it up!

  • 5/5 Brennan A. 2 years ago on Google
Best pizza we had on the trip. Not even close. The pies are big! We assumed because of the pricing they would be “personal size” but couldn’t have been more wrong. Cheapest and best pizza you’ll find in the city in a gorgeous restaurant. The special potato pizza was absolutely fantastic. Prosciutto so thin you could use it as a window pane & still spy on your neighbors. Everything from first step in was above and beyond delicious, attentive and caring. You can tell the owners and staff are proud of their establishment. Dine inside, it’s a gorgeous space isolated from the hustle and bustle just outside. Must stop!

I love this place SO much, but lately the pizzas are disappointingly soggy and arrive literally disintegrating in the middle. This last time, even the BOX had a whole down the middle. I had to scoop off the disintegrated pizza from the center and eat it with a spoon! Please guys, I would hate to start associating this place with inconsistency, because it’s one of the best places I’ve ever had pizza in the world and it’s right here in my neighborhood. (What you see down the middle of the hole in the picture is my table)

Pizza here is incredible. The crust is perfectly crunchy and chewy. Amazing flavors. Very authentic. It’s a cute family run true Italian spot and the prices are super reasonable! Very cute decor for a date or special occasions. We’ve been twice for the pizza, still need to try the pasta. Had a beet arugula salad with Ricotta that was very good.
