After one of the longest days of my life – commuting to Connecticut and back for a music festival – I needed a big bowl of pho to heal my mind, body, and soul. I had been wanting to try Hanoi House for a minute, but the wait had been egregious every time I tried. Thankfully, we were seated immediately on a Sunday at noon. We sat in the wicker chairs on the outdoor patio with the sun blessing us with its presence for the first time in a week, as the past 4 days had been a torrential downpour. I love the rain though. It really locks me in and has me contemplating life. Sometimes it's nice to be inside and be able to focus without yearning to be outside. It also makes you more grateful for the sunny days. To appreciate the sun, you gotta know what rain is. Idk. All this to say, it was a perfect storm for a pho day. We started with the spring and summer rolls, and I got a Vietnamese coffee. I normally take my coffee black because I'm a BEAST, but Vietnamese coffee holds a special place in my soul. I drank that mf in 2 minutes. I'd argue that the summer rolls with pork were better than the spring rolls, as that piece of pork wrapped in there really did the trick. This may be a hot take because rarely is something non-fried better than something fried, but there is an exception to every rule. There are very few absolutes in this world, my dear reader. I went with the Classic Hanoi Style Beef Pho, with Rare Filet and Brisket for the meats. It was QUALITY. Every pho connoisseur knows, a bowl of pho starts and ends with the broth. I would categorize this broth as follows: Soul Healing Broth. Recovery Broth. Bounce Back Broth. Believeland Broth. Rich and Aromatic Broth. It's Not the Size of the Dog in the Fight but the Size of the Fight in the Dog Broth. Okay I got a little carried away there, but it was really good lol. The meat and noodles were also of the highest regard. This would be in my top 3 bowls of pho, which is saying a lot because I hang my hat on knowing a good bowl of pho when I have the pleasure of meeting one, but the portion size for the price is a bit light. But then again, I have found myself saying that a lot about restaurants lately. Maybe it's just my insatiable appetite. Or maybe it's just the cost of living continually rising. Hmmmm. I'll get to the bottom of it. All in all, the only better pho I have had in NY hails from Di and Di over in Greenpoint. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Unlike the common New York Vietnamese food, their dishes are more innovative, and tasty too. Come here if you want to try something a little different. I highly recommend papaya & pig ear salad, and grilled pork noodles!

Service: The restaurant strictly opens at 11:30, even for those with reservations at that time. However, the staff members are friendly and helpful. Vibe: The seating arrangement inside the restaurant is quite tight, with tables only about 6-10 inches apart. Iced Mango Tea: The mango aroma in the tea is subtle, and it doesn't stand out as particularly special. Bun Cha (Pork Noodles): The vegetables and sauce in the dish were slightly sour for our taste. However, the Nem and grilled pork were satisfactory. The highlight of the dish was the crispy spring rolls. Pho Bac (Classic Hanoi Style Beef): The dish was served with authentic Garlic Vinegar, which added to its authenticity. The soup base was delicious, and the beef was flavorful. The accompanying sauce and quay breadstick were a nice touch. Overall: Based on our experience, we would rate Hanoi House Restaurant 4/5.

We had the Pho Dac Biet. Bone marrow was interesting, oily and salty. The pho itself was really good, the broth was unique with many flavors although a tad bit salty. The spring rolls were great and flavorful, a tad too oily for me though.

Very good pho (4.5/5) and banh mi (5/5) for very reasonable prices. The spring rolls are also absolutely delicious (4.5/5) and the service is so incredibly friendly. Highly recommend this place

The restaurant definitely passed the vibe check but the food was very expensive. The place seems to be consistently packed as we arrived on a Sunday afternoon (around 2pm) and we were lucky to get a table for 4. The pho was delicious but for the price I’m not sure it’s worth it. Service was excellent!

I ordered the HOUSE SPECIAL PHO. I'l be coming back for more!! The pho contains rare filet mignon, oxtail, brisket AND bone marrow to upgrade your usualy pho experience. The meat melted in my mouth and the bowl was so filling. The breadstick was perfect but I so full I could barely finish. The egg coffee I ordered (cold) was also really nice) I was really impressed. 10/10 experience. Service was fast and they kept checking up on our group to make sure we were good.

Came on a Sunday around 5:35pm right after they opened for dinner service and there was already a line out the door. We didn't reserve seats, so the two of us were given the choice between the bar and outdoor seating (not within the patio). We opted for the last bar seats since it was getting chilly outside, and we overheard people being told the wait for indoor dining would be at least 45 minutes. We didn't have any expectations coming in, as we were just craving some Vietnamese food, but were shocked at how expensive the dishes were. We weren't too hungry, so we got the Shrimp Chips, Summer Rolls, and Lemongrass Chicken Wings to share. The food was good, but didn't feel any more "elevated" than what you could find at a standard Vietnamese restaurant. Overall we enjoyed our meal and the service was friendly, but I wouldn't be pressed to come back any time soon.

Hanoi house is a great place to visit with amazing foods. The soup is amazing as well as the noodle. Only downside I’ve experienced on this place is the table that’s outside is very tilted, and wiggles a bit too hard that we almost split our drinks and the noodle. If you were to dine here, in-door is the place to be👏

Unique flavours and delicious food! Tried Hanoi House for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve never had northern Vietnamese cuisine as my parents are from the south, but the food here was delightful! The lamb in a leaf wrap was a bit over salted and overall, it felt like a few of their grilled meats and pork dishes were a bit too much in the salty side. Not to mention we are also dipping it into fish sauce so the meat did not have to be as salty. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable! Pho with bone marrow was probably my favourite dish. Authentic and clear broth and the pho had very generous meat portion and sizes. The bone marrow was good, but probably not worth the price as the actual edible content from the bone marrow was very little! Still, it makes for a nice instagram post. The Vietnamese iced coffee and the egg coffee was well made. Wouldn’t recommend getting it! Overall, I think this place deserves 4 stars. I don’t think I’d personally be back, but definitely worth trying at least once!

I'm craving that delectable, meaty fresh pho with its indulgent bone marrow; it's a must-try! The waiter, who happens to be a delightful Asian gentleman, made our dining experience truly enjoyable with his attentive and welcoming service and fun personality. I couldn't resist taking his recommendation—the house special, pho dac biet—and I must say, it is a satisfying dish! (the only reason why I mentioned this gentleman's ethnicity is because unfortunately I didn't ask his name and he gave exceptional service which I think truly deserves recognition) The dish boasts a burst of incredible flavors, with a savory broth that's simply divine. The generous amount of meat adds a delightful richness to every spoonful. Now, here's where the fun comes in—using the breastick to dip into the marrow oil creates an enchanting combination of crunchy and creamy textures that adds so much fun to the entire dining experience! In summary, this place not only serves up a mouthwatering pho but also has a staff that knows how to make dining here an absolute pleasure.

In our Quest for the Best of NYC, we are looking for the best Vietnamese food. We may have found it. Hanoi House has good service, an interesting and curated wine list and superb food. We’ve eaten at Việt restaurants around the world and except for Vietnam itself, we usually scoff at their efforts. Not Hanoi House. The Shaking Beef is delicious and ingeniously served with bone marrow. The Papaya salad is served with pig ears, usually reserved for finger food for drinking or sandwiches. They were fried, not grilled (as they usually are) and seasoned with a perfect mix of spices. We will keep looking for the Best of Việt food in NYC but right now this is the winner.

Food was off the charts. Bella our waitress and was fantastic as well. We started with Crispy Spring rolls, Shrimp chips, House Pho and Shaking Beef. Absolutely lived up to the hype and so much more.

What an experience Hanoi House was. I made the decision to have Pho earlier in the day. How do you find the best Pho in New York City? Shift through several articles online that offers you their pick, then GUESS if it is an accurate depiction or if the restaurant paid....... Hanoi House did not pay, it is seriously good. It was a cold afternoon, I stumbled in at 5:00 p.m., memo to me, it doesn't open until 5:30. I was offered to sit at the bar until they opened. Having come all the way from The Bronx, yeah, I waited and they did not disappoint. The website Time Out has Hanoi House listed as one of the best Pho restaurants in New York City. I always order a restaurants signature dish on my first visit. I had the Classic Hanoi Style Beef with the options of two proteins, I selected the filet mignon and oxtail. The dish came super fast so don't order until you are ready to eat. Just to give you an idea of how fast it came: I ordered from the bar, the bartender punched in my order, then turned to pour my wine, the wine and the Pho was put in front of me at exactly the same time. The chili sauce is served on the side with chopped garlic. I asked the bartender where are the sprouts? His reply, this restaurant serves Pho in the way the dish is served in Hanoi. So unknowingly, I like Hanoi style Pho the best. Wonderful atmosphere, I observed several couples there on dates, perfect date night restaurant, small intimate, and warm. I sat at the bar, near the door and did not receive a freezing breeze as customers came in and out. This restaurant is worth traveling to. 5 stars WAYYYYY up, and BTW, Sam Rockwell popped in to pick up a to go order, he is shooting right now so his beard is long and I thought that he was him, but it was later confirmed to me. He is a regular, try this out if you are a fan of soup or Pho, worth your time, my only regret was not getting the bone marrow in my Pho, but I am getting this next week.

Fried Pig Ear papaya salad: Overly salty dressing and batter 2/5. Very crispy skin tho. Not as crunchy papaya shreds but a lot of greens. Pho classic: noodle to meat ratio imbalanced, nice flavor and good tendon and oxtail(shredded). Spicy paste 10/10. Pork shoulder noodle: Love the noodles, pickled daikon is nice. Crunchy spring meat roll. Broth is like a sauce. Drinks: salt lime soda5/5. Bamboozled. Bathroom is nice. spacious and cute.

The unfortunate combo of overpriced and mediocre Bun cha is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. It's rare in the US - the only place I know that does a good one is in SF. I walked here from Brooklyn to try theirs. Vietnamese iced coffee is traditionally made in a phin - the little metal pot that sits atop the cup. Instead, here it's premade and watered down, and they charge $6 per glass. The bun cha came with a sad amount of broth that wasn't even warm. Like the coffee, the flavor profile was lacking. Also like the coffee, it was exorbitantly expensive compared to any other Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here even if it didn't have hipster prices. Your neighborhood place probably has better food at half the price. It's sad because good bun cha is delicious. I was really hoping this place would be too.

Not your typical Vietnamese restaurant, they serve up great food with delicious, bold flavors. Got the Dac Biet pho and it came with real strong, dark broth. It also came with bone marrows and fried dough - if you order a hot Vietnamese coffee, here’s a hack - they go really well if you dip the fried dough in the coffee.

Hanoi House has been on my list of places to try for a long time. It did not disappoint. The service was fantastic and friendly. The cocktails were original. The pho was delicious. It was a great meal and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu. Dining in is currently limited to outdoor seating on the heated patio. Bundle up and have some hot tea.

Poached shrimp salad and crispy spring rolls were very tasty. Chicken wings were good as well but not marinated inside. It was very cold in restaurant, so I would recommend to book a table far from windows and entry door. Service was excellent and toilet was clean

Let me just start by saying this is a place you do not want to miss if you enjoy. If you’ve never had fun, this would definitely be the best place for your first time. I was in Hanoi last April. I’ve loved pho since the first time I tried it years ago. So, when my two Vietnamese friends said to try Hanoi House, I couldn’t wait. I was visiting NYC. I brought my parents for their Christmas gift from me. They had never tried pho before. We had the spring rolls, papaya salad, and each a bowl of the clsssicbpho. My parents both had the thin filet beef and brisket. I had the filet and bone marrow. Wow, this food was amazing The papaya salad was so light and fresh. It had the perfect amount of herbs, Thai basil etc and just the right amount of fish sauce, pretty certain that’s what it was. The spring rolls were delightful, crispy and tasty. My parents coding get enough. But, the star of the show was the pho Rich and flavorful bone broth. The thin filet slices cooked perfectly in the broth as i stirred it in. I tasted the bone marrow before I scraped it into the broth. Wow. It was so flavorful. If you love pho, you’ll love Hanoi House.

Love the food, customer service, & overall experience as a whole. Had the Chicken Pho for the first and definitely not my last!! If you're not a fan of cilantro (like me), give the soup a try if you're bold enough. I recommend it!

I came here with my friend to specifically try the Bun Cha Hanoi. I’ve had it at a Vietnamese restaurant in Paris and it was amazing. I was slightly disappointed by the dish here. The sauce with the meat was not hot enough and the taste was a little on the sweeter side. Even though we didn’t enjoy the entree as much, we really liked the summer rolls with the pork a lot. So I would recommend that for appetizer.

Hanoi House is a fantastic blend of authentic Vietnamese cuisine and a modern touch of fusion. The top 3 dishes that I have ordered, not just once but twice now are: Crispy Pork & Crab Spring Rolls, House Special Pho (featuring four kinds of beef cuts), and the Shaking Beef (of which the sauce is sublime)! Also, the Vietnamese iced coffee is a must try! The ambiance is a bit claustrophobic inside, but the outdoor dining is equally busy. The staff are an amazing team who are very friendly, efficient, and thoughful! Reservations are a MUST, walk-in customers have to wait quite a while even after the lunch rush

Delicious food! Didn't have any expectations when we first walked in, found the restaurant by chance and saw it had good reviews so figured why not give a chance. Our server was very helpful in answering questions about drinks and food and would check in on us to make sure everything was good. For the appetizer we had the lamb which was very flavorful. Everything we tried did not disappoint. I will be coming back and I recommend this place to anyone who loves good food

Solid Vietnamese food in the city. We ordered the sauteed morning glory, the tofu summer rolls, the fried spring rolls, the clams, and the bone marrow pho to split. The dishes were all pretty good but not mindblowingly so. Great service.

The food was meh. The reason for my poor review is that we were charged 16 dollars for two bottles of sparkling and still water. I wasn’t aware we’d be charged for water, and water wasn’t on the menu. To me, this is just deceptive. The server should have told us the sparkling and still water cost extra when she offered them to us after seating us.
