As of 04/30 Cherry blossoms 🌸 are at peak, so visit as soon as possible if you want to catch them. There will always be other gorgeous flowers after the blossoms come down. Plan to spend at least 90 minutes and note some days they close at 6 pm. Beautiful flowers that can leave you mesmerized and calm you down. The conservatory is a must visit with plants from all over the world (tropics, dessert, bonsai etc). They have a free guided tour from 1-2 pm and also have multiple eateries inside along with gift shops and restrooms. Great place for everyone to come, unwind, enjoy and relax. Students get discounted tickets at $12. There are also a lot of fast food restaurants just outside the garden.

A definite must when you're in NYC. The BBG is a great escape from the city's hustle and bustle. I especially loved the Bonsai greenhouse. I'll definitely return during the spring and summer once the flowers are in bloom although there was a certain charm about visiting during the winter.

A beautiful garden and well maintained. There is something for everyone. My favorite was Japanese Garden and Cherry Lane. So beautiful and serene. Though it was Early spring, but there were beautiful flowers. Greenhouse had variety of Orchids, and other tropical plants. It was a fun visit and I would surely want to visit again.

Beautiful garden! Definitely on my top five Beautiful Gardens. The trees are so beautiful, lush and will taken care of! I spent about four hours here just taking my time, stopping to relax, and making sure I walked all around the garden and inside exhibits, making sure to not miss anything. Everything was such a treat. I stopped at the café and grab some coffee and talk to the nice workers there. I can’t say enough about The Space I had a great visit!!

It is so pretty, I always enjoy walking around with a different prime lens slapped onto my camera every time I visit this place. I even went during prime (different "prime") cherry blossom viewing time and, even though it was filled to skies with people, the flowers don't look trampled. I think the people who visit are reasonable enough to appreciate the beauty of the flora instead of try and take them for themselves. Respect.

Great time to visit botanical garden now ! The Sakura trees are still in full Bloom. it was wonderful To walk through the alleys. It's like you are in Wonderland : the ground is pink with petals , the trees are in full Bloom, the sky is blue and the sun is shining. What else do you need ? And amazing tulips that look like peonies! And the Japanese garden with its beautiful pond! There's so many places That I like...

I had a lot of fun, despite being winter the place is beautiful for a walk with coffee. the indoors are very different and with a hot environment. The vegetation of the garden is beautiful. I can imagine spring when all those flowers bloom . highly recommended and just one block from the subway station in prospect park.

Horticulture at its finest! An illusion convincingly executed of walking into the Orient — transported to a pagoda castle’s landscaped garden — without having to leave Brooklyn. Informative plaques, impressive greenhouse architecture, and the overall curation is very memorable.

Lovely scenery and the cost is fair. Beautiful Japanese exhibit and nice staff as well. But just super bummed that I was a few weeks late to see the famous cherry blossom there. Will come visit again!

The light show was amazing.A one way path (for Covid reasons) kept people moving. Stunning background each installation is different from the next. A must see this holiday season

Not to be missed! One of the most beautiful light and sound shows in a botanical garden. The other equivalent I had seen was in Edinburgh. But this is close. Very well designed light installations and great music. Was an absolutely amazing experience.

A great time of year for the garden. Quieter than spring and summer and a little wilder, too, full of rich and poignant atmosphere. All kinds of autumn treasures even before the leaves turn. Check out the berries that are replacing flowers on the bushes--red, gold, tiny purple ones. Lotus in the ponds up by the conservatories. Beautiful.

What a treat! And affordable, too. Lots of places to meander, tons of plants to smell and touch. I highly recommend slathering on the sunscreen if you go midday like we did, and carving out at least a few hours if you want to check out every nook and cranny of this beautiful garden. We timed our visit after peak cherry blossom season (April), so I plan to go back again when they’re in bloom. There are a few places to eat as well—a coffee shop, the Yellow Magnolia Café (make reservations!), and the outdoor canteen.

We had the most wonderful time visiting the cherry blossoms. The gardens are so well kept and full of beautiful spring floral fragrances. The lilacs and tulips were also in bloom. The wide variety was a feast for the eyes. This is a stunning wonderland in the bustling city. We will be sure to visit often to experience some of their wonderful events.

Beautiful park! Love the bonsai museum and the tropical plants, but the water and plants are lovely. Very enjoyable with my six year old and husband. The food court has some nice choices. The salad was fresh. Hotdog was served on a Martin's potato bun. Excellent blend of indoor and outdoor exhibits.

I went in July. I think a lot of the blooms were spent. Not as much color as I expected. Probably the best time is the Spring or early summer and definitely should see the cherry blossoms when they bloom again. Still was really relaxing and healing to be in such a peaceful and beautiful setting. The Rose Garden is lovely.

It’s endearing to see that the city has such beautiful areas of greenery! This whole garden is very well maintained and is truly so beautiful to visit in the summer! It’s a great place to take a calm stroll while learning about biodiversity!

We visited in early December and most of outdoors areas were closed, inaccessible or under maintenance. On the other hand, greenhouses were nice — but that’s supposed to be only a small part of the tour. I would have appreciated knowing it in advance, so we wouldn’t have wasted half a day to visit rugged terrain and dried flowers. The Lightscape event is ridiculously expensive.

A wonderful place to spent time in a cold winter day. Walk through the warm greenhouses and get a taste of the tropics by walking under mango, papaya and tamarind trees while it snows outside. Pay-what-you-wish on weekdays.

The winter light show was amazing! The music, lights, and decorations all around the park were so special. We came here with a big group and had a blast! I also appreciated that there was vegan hot chocolate at the snack stand 🤗 ✨. I love this garden in the spring and summertime and it was super fun to have a great experience here in the wintertime as well. Great for all ages!

Highly recommended botanic garden if you're in Brooklyn area or New York City. A quiet place from the cities hustle and bustle. Great place to go with family, young kids, and elderly people. There is a coffee shop and a cafeteria inside the garden. If you enjoy nature, this is the place to go. Amazing collection of plants from across the globe

All I can say is that I regret not going when the roses were in full bloom. I can only imagine how beautiful this garden must’ve been. Although we went during the weekend, the garden was not very busy and we enjoyed our walk around it. Beautiful garden!🌷

This place has a beautiful collection of plants, flowers, and trees from across the world. Free entrance for college students too so a great place to go and sketch and find some quiet time. Although the food and drink is ridiculously overpriced. Other than that amazing place.

Beautiful botanical gardens in the middle of Brooklyn. Right on the north edge of Prospect Park. Nice place to unwind from the city. Go early to avoid schools and crowds. You'll have the place mostly to yourself. Much less crowded than Bronx Botanical. If you can afford it, get a membership from the Bronx Botanical gardens. It pays for itself after a few visits, and It's good at both parks.

A beautiful place that is well worth a visit even with many exhibits closed due to the pandemic. Grounds are extremely well kept and staff is very friendly. Even with about 30% of the grounds closed there is still ample to see and do. Great for families, solo or with a group. I visited during the peak of summer and the grounds were alive with countless flowers, trees and plants. Beware on hot days as many of the areas are in the open and a bringing water and an umbrella is highly recommended, as exhaustion can set in rather quickly. Gift shop/ plant store has many unique items that is way above average for a gift shop. Cafe was closed so this may lead to cutting your visit shorter if you were planning on eating while there. This may be temporary due to the pandemic/ various factors.

It was a beautiful wedding from the ceremony to cocktail hour ( both outside) surrounded by magnificent Japanese peonies blooms to dinner and dancing. It was still bright late into the day, the park was closed for regular visitors, and the ambiance inside The Atrium was beautiful. The food was gourmet, nicely presented. The flower arrangements were very unusual, different at every table. We had a great time. Everybody danced all evening. Next door parking lot was very convenient.

Took a long stroll thru this beautiful area. As you walk in, in December, plants appeared to be hibernating but then you walk into the huge green houses and see from tropical, dessert, bonsai and other sections filled with beautiful plants. Some are hot and arid others are very hot and humid. Once you walk out you stroll the grounds and see some beautiful gardens. Wish I could be there when the cherry blossom trees bloom.

Very well planned layout. Beautiful lawn, trees, flowers….It’s a treat to all senses walking through different parts of the garden. The flowers smelled very sweet, the lawn is nice and thick to walk on. There are many unique things to look at. The birds singing. The water from water fountain taste fresh (no typical tab water taste).

Loved Brooklyn Botanic Garden! So serene it's like a perfect escape in the city from the city. Flowers are beautiful. Quiet and peaceful. They have a children's garden but it wasn't open. Nothing indoors is open only outdoor exhibits. It's a nice place to just go and chill out and enjoy nature. And to learn about plants.

A perfect curation of exhibits! The Gardens had such a diverse array of plants and sections, but nothing was "too big" where you got lost or bored of anything. Each section was unique and gave different experiences and allowed for different routes through the gardens to individualize your experience. Definitely recommend comfy walking shoes and taking a few hours to explore each of the exhibits – you won't regret it!

Can’t get enough of this beautiful place. So beautiful during spring, summer and fall seasons (never been during winter time). So much to see, walking is so easy and the verity of trees is absolutely gorgeous. They also have Japanese gardens which is a must. Prices are convenient, always something is happening in the garden.

LOVED my time at the botanic garden and highly recommend visiting, even now that it’s winter!! through january 15, 2024, admission is “pay as you wish” during the daytime. this was an amazing opportunity as a recent grad to get discounted admission, and enjoy a beautiful sunny day. there’s plenty of benches and tables throughout the whole garden to relax at. There’s lots to see outside, but what I loved the most were the different greenhouses. they have several, reflecting several climates (desert, tropical, etc) as well as a gorgeous bonsai museum. it was super pleasant to walk around this part of the garden to warm up and the setups are honestly beautifully designed! there weren’t a lot of people (on a tuesday) so i was able to get great pictures/videos of everything. no wait to get tickets either or a need to get them in advance. finally, the staff i interacted with was friendly :) excited to return in the near future.

Had a beautiful time here! I would go during the Spring where there's probably more live herbs and plantlife, but there was still a lot to see when I went end of Aug. Beautiful scenery and lot of photo opportunities! Would recommend!

What a great place! I've gone here a number of times over the years and have many photos already posted under this account, but went here recently for the light show! They have food and beverages (with special ones for this event), and a number of different events all year round, including when the roses bloom, the chili festival, and the light show shown in the pictures below. There is a large variety of plants and flowers, with a beautiful coy pond among other things! Highly recommended place to go with friends, family or by yourself! 🌷🌺🌻☘️🌹🌸💐

It is a magical place, especially as nightfall approaches. The whole place is filled with fireflies like fallen stars…it’s truly a hidden gem tucked away in the city. The fragrance garden and Japanese gardens are some must sees and if you time it right, the Gardens are a great place to listen to music and attend concerts. Everything about this place radiates peace and serenity and I will certainly go back to see more.

What a wonderful beautiful place to explore with your kids or even go for a walk as a couple all year round especially during the summer ! I loved how they had everything labeled so if you were interested in getting a plant for your personal garden, you'll know what to ask for when you go to the florist. Will definitely be visiting this garden again and will recommend to others.

My 2nd time visiting. Great place to take pictures or to just be one with nature. The rose garden was like aromatherapy. The fragrance was strong! I make it a point to try and visit once a year to remember the simple things in life. It's also very easy to get your steps in for the day.

I really didn’t have high expectations for this place. I know many people that went and said it wasn’t all that interesting, but I figured I’ll give it a go. Thank goodness I did because I had the most incredible experience here. The grounds are beyond beautiful. It’s so big, you need a full day here. I had assumed it’s much smaller. The flowers were stunning as well. There was plenty of shady spots to sit and relax. Beautiful place for a date, family trip or even a place to study.

Beautiful garden even in the winter! Because of the architecture (ie Japanese garden), indoor exhibits, and few things blooming, it's worth visiting even in the winter! I assume it's even more gorgeous in the spring and summer during the blooms. On a winter weekday it was pay as you'd like, otherwise tickets costed $10-15.

Visited this month (Feb) and was slightly pushed for time but managed an hour or two around the garden and conservatorys, incredible place to visit and looked beautiful in the snow. The Bonsai and Desert conservatory were my favourite and didn't disappoint as well as the Japanese garden, would certainly visit here again. 4* represents the weather as would love to see the garden in full bloom sometime during a summer month.

It was a nice experience. The light show was amazing. The only thing is that this time of the year is super cold outside. So, it will be much appreciated if the organizers can arrange for heaters at all the places.

Loved the lightscape and so did my husband and children. It helped that the weather was Fall like. We walked for like an hour and every time we were walking we thought it was going to end but no, it kept going. It was magical, like a Disney movie.

  • 3/5 Charice L. 3 months ago on Google New
Went to the lightscape show at the garden . It rained the entire time so definitely dulled the experience. The lights in the park aren’t worth the ticket price. Had multiple portable toilets on premises, couldn’t bring myself to use one but for anyone needing it, here you go.

  • 4/5 Sassy B. 4 months ago on Google
Saw the Lightscape show for the first time. It was beautiful with all the different spots to walk to. Only thing I thought was missing was some Christmas music with my hot cocoa! Would have been perfect and more festive.

The Japanese garden is a year-round delight. The cherry trees in season are a must. The fall foliage is great. Congratulations to the donors, the maintenance staff, and the volunteers for a great experience.

Marvelous in April! So many cherry blossoms and tulips. The indoor rooms are really neat too! The desert and tropical rooms are really cool. There’s an outdoor cafe with a little bit of seating near the tulips and indoor rooms where you can buy food or eat your own food. Lots of people say on grassy lawns for an afternoon picnic too. I got free tickets through work but you might be able to get free tickets through your library card too. Not a big line for tickets when you get there, maybe like a 5-10 minute wait.

  • 5/5 Careen R. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely... even on a 90+ degree day. It's not a place to visit in one shot due to 50+ acres of lush green space. The Japanese garden lake is a sight. The Herb and Rock Gardens are delightful. Will definitely be back to see the other side of garden.

  • 5/5 Alexandra Z. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful gardens & grounds, and the winter light show was very fun. The gardens with the spring blooms and the amazing landscaping are an awesome reason to visit in the Spring season, and the winter light installations were a smart way to keep customers coming in the cold months. The lights are unique and the accompanying poetry and music added a nice touch.

  • 5/5 Elizabeth H. 2 years ago on Google
Nice park to enjoy an afternoon walk any time of year. The Japanese garden area was my favorite! I’d imagine this park is especially stunning in the spring or summer, but there was still a lot to see in December. There’s a suggested donation price but no obligation to pay that full price for admission.

  • 4/5 Tony S. 2 years ago on Google
went for the light show, very delightful! while masks were required, I wish that they had also requested vaccinations also. everyone was compliant but it would have mad the experience a little more comfortable for me. other than that lightscape is well worth the price of admission.

We thought it would be an hour to kill but ended up rushing near closing! For $18 it's more than worth it. You could easily bring food & drink in for a picnic, then wander around before stopping for a drink at the café. The grounds are gorgeous and HUGE so there's so much to explore and do. Couldn't recommend more to go on a good weather day.

Great place to go on a date, or for a nice peaceful walk on some nature. There's paved and unpaved trails. Some of the unpaved can be a pain with a carriage but nonetheless you can see a lot and enjoy a day out with your loved ones.

Every time I visit the gardens have a different vibe, always happy. This May the Roses fill the grounds with rich scents and the birds are shouting about the imminent heat of summer. Great botanic garden with friendly staff. Amazing specimens and lots of unusual plantings. Some of the plants in the glasshouses need some care and upkeep, but the everything is still beautiful. I could’ve spent the whole day looking at all the amazing plants on display

Beautiful garden. The bonsai exhibition was really nice. There are several entrances to the park, and you can make a round. The entrance next to the Brooklyn Museum is probably the most convenient. There is a pretty cafe, but only outside tables. Tortoises and fish in the Japanese garden were cute.

  • 5/5 Lucía S. 8 months ago on Google
Absolutely loved it! Perfect for a solo walk or a date. Took us about 3 hours to fully enjoy I there are some interactive places for kids too.

  • 5/5 Andriy R. 6 months ago on Google
Quite a beautiful and well-kept garden. You get pleasure and peace from walking along the alleys of the garden. Moderate price of entrance tickets. There are discounts for children and older people. If necessary, you can get a free stroller for the elderly. But the cafe, which operates on the territory of the garden, has a limited selection of food and drinks. At the same time, the prices in the cafe are quite high, but I personally cannot say that the food here is delicious ... However, this did not spoil our overall impression of a great walk! Therefore, a visit to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is a definite recommendation!

This place is amazing! I come here every time I visit New York (3-4 x per year). It’s a beautiful oasis within Brooklyn, and is very relaxing to walk through. My favorite part is the Native Forest in the Eastern Pkwy/Flatbush Ave corner. Also, make sure to find out when cherry blossom season is (it lasts for about a month). A must see!
