Uncommon for me, but here goes: The hotel is a visual marvel, adorned with striking neon orange escalators that demand attention. My purpose for staying? Attending my sister's wedding, for which she had thoughtfully reserved a block of rooms. With the promise of self-check-in, our expectations were high. Yet, upon inputting my name into the system, a disheartening "Reservation Not Found" message greeted me. Seeking clarification, I engaged a staff member who kindly informed me of a 15 to 20-minute wait for resolution. As an hour passed, curiosity nudged me to inquire about the room's status. To my surprise, the front desk attendant conveyed that our room wasn't quite ready yet. Another hour and a half later, we were finally ushered into our assigned room. The staff member's explanation centered around the challenges posed by a new system implementation, highlighting their ongoing learning curve. Walking into the room, an unexpected twist awaited us. Our request for two double beds had somehow transformed into a queen room featuring a pull-out couch. Regrettably, the couch was bare, devoid of sheets, pillows, or a comforter. A swift call to the front desk resulted in sheets and pillows, but the absence of a comforter posed a lasting conundrum. The day of the wedding brought us to the hotel's dining options. Here, the experience took an unforeseen turn. Prices appeared exorbitant, and the culinary offerings fell short of expectations. The sandwich I selected turned out to be a test of determination, and the pizza bore the unfortunate signs of age. Yet, the pangs of hunger managed to eclipse any culinary disappointment. Post-wedding, the realization of lost keys prompted a visit to the front desk. Here, the intrigue only escalated. The staff was adamant that we had been allocated a different room and even suggested that we had checked out. Despite their scrutiny of our information, their stance remained unswayed. Ultimately, the manager intervened, escorting us to our room sans replacement keys. In fairness, the room's modern and industrial design was a redeeming aspect, and the bathroom's spaciousness was commendable. The view from the room, too, contributed positively to the experience. However, the hotel's management left much to be desired. In light of the myriad challenges we encountered, I find myself inclined to recommend exploring alternative accommodations if feasible.

It was like any other day: I sat down at the bar around 11am for a stiff cocktail. Realizing I hadn't eaten for the past 24 hours, I thought it might be wise to put some food in my stomach before re-entering the void. Unfortunately, I had (yet again) blacked out spent all of my pocket money on acrylic alligator figurines, so I couldn't afford anything on the menu if I wanted to keep the liquids flowing. I reached into a cup on the bar for a quick snack, and that is when everything changed. The moment the corn hit my lips I was in pure ecstasy. Crunchy but soft, spicy but sweet, refreshing but savory. Nothing was ever the same again. Recently, my wife left me not because of my raging alcoholism, but because I cannot stop talking about the corn at your hotel. Day and night, the thought of its flavor dominates the forefront of my mind, the smell of its South American seasoning permeates my nostrils. Alas, it is only my imagination. A cruel day dream, a mirage in the sweltering heat of the desert that is life without your bar corn. 10/10 will return.

Smaller rooms than expected and odd the sink isn’t in the bathroom but otherwise for the area and price it was great. Don’t be tricked into the luxury stuff it’s just a fairly normal nice clean hotel nothing overly special though. A lot of effort went into making good use of a small space and making life convenient. I liked it. Would come again

You should know that this is a hotel without service, without concierge. We thought we had booked a nice suite. We got 2 rooms with connecting doors! Space for 6 people! No view, really scandalous! Nothing could be arranged or changed because the Loft, which looks much better and is much cheaper, was fully booked. The breakfast was fantastic, unfortunately not included. The location is also good. Cleaning could also be better! A disappointing experience. One thing must be said, Public's photography and marketing are Fantastic!

My first visit at Public Rooftop was absolutely amazing!! My girlfriends and I enjoyed our drinks with a beautiful view of the city skyline! Chris H also made our visit very hospitable which persuaded us to come back again. Today on our second visit, we were charged an $150 mandatory bar tab in order to get in which was not the case during our first visit. This didn’t sit right with us and I’m not too sure if this is a regular thing on a Friday. But overall Public Rooftop is beautiful and the bar staff is amazing. Thank you Chris H for providing us with an amazing comfortable experience!!!

This hotel was on one of the must list from my hospitality professors, however, I left with a lot of disappointments. Although it was a little difficult to find the hotel entrance at first, I did enjoy the ambiance of the hotel. We had some cocktails at the bar and a potato chip which was given out in the original package. When we were about to leave, there was no staff at the bar and I had to wait for over 10 minutes to ask for the check. The bar felt like as if it was a private kitchen in a lounge.

We had a small issue when checking in but thanks to Maggie, all were sorted very quickly. She also offered us $100 voucher for food and drinks. The rooms are very good size for NYC, very clean with comfortable bed. The highlight for me was the shower, the best I’ve seen in hotels yet. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar, drinks might be a bit expensive but worth the views and ambiance. Thanks again,

Our recent stay at PUBLIC was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by two outstanding staff members, Angelo and Dante. From my first contact with Dante over to phone to the moment we arrived and met Angelo, their genuine warmth and dedication to ensuring a memorable experience truly set the tone for our visit. Angelo went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and make us feel welcome. His attention to detail, personalized recommendations, and willingness to assist with any request truly elevated our stay. His professionalism and friendly demeanor were a highlight of our time at PUBLIC. The rooms at PUBLIC exceeded our expectations in every way. The modern and chic decor created a comfortable and inviting ambiance. The attention to detail was evident, from the luxurious bedding to the well-thought-out amenities. The room's design perfectly complemented the vibrant energy of the SoHo neighborhood, providing a stylish retreat after a day of exploring.

Well, to make a long story short ,our room was ready after 6p.m. ( this was after we checked in with the ipad at the lobby and calling multiple times) Was offered $50 voucher, but it was never given to us. I called the hotel after realizing it but got transferred to a voicemail box which was always full even after few days of trying. Only good thing about our stay was the room service. I do not recommend staying here with the experience I had from this hotel.

My husband & I stayed at The Public for 7 nights from Australia. Location is good for walking to most places or catching the subway. Rooms are very small but nicely styled. The hotel itself is nice with several public spaces to lounge in whilst you’re waiting to check in/out… this is the only reason why my review is 2 stars & not 1. They could refine the check in/out process with the luggage storage options… both times we tried to use this the digital lockers were either all full or they weren’t working properly; my husbands backpack got stuck inside a locker & it was a big process to find a staff member to help us finally retrieve it. Hence my title of this review….you just don’t need to mess with the old school ways of doing things… The things that let this hotel down are the indifferent & unfriendly, often rude staff. It seems some of the rules here apply to certain people (us) but not others…. Signs in the public areas saying no outside food or drinks, with a couple sitting opposite me eating out of their big bag of takeout. Yet I moved a chair over to a space where I was sitting so my husband could join me only for a staff member to come over & move it back saying I can’t move the furniture around…. Yet nothing said to the couple with the outside food?! The hotel says they also offer ‘complimentary tea, coffee…..etc’….when I went downstairs to get this so called complimentary coffee, I was told by a staff member that this only exists between 6am & 8am….yet this isn’t advertised on the in room information booklet! Who on holidays gets up between 6 & 8am anyway?! The dress code for the rooftop bar area is ‘no gym wear’…fair enough, I went back to our room & changed out of my long leggings into jeans. When we left the rooftop area later that night a girl got into our lift with…gym wear on! And I’m talking, tiny shorts & a bra top! Ridiculous! Yet they’re happy to take our money & charge a fortune for food & drinks & add all their ‘access fees’ & taxes etc onto our bill?! Nope, next time I’m in New York, I’ll be staying elsewhere… too cool for school for this Aussie…

Beautiful hotel that has a lot of unique touches. Minimalist bedrooms steeped in Scandinavian wood, great ambient lighting, with loads of open plan work areas. There’s an underground nightclub (show your room key to get vip access), and Louis restaurant will give you free cookies and milk late at night - you just have to ask after the sun goes down.

I stayed at PUBLIC Hotel for 2 nights on a weekend in July. While this hotel is beautiful and trendy, the service you would expect from a “4-star luxury hotel” is completely lacking. It is better to adjust your expectations to that of a 3-3.5 star hotel if you choose to stay here. PUBLIC aims to streamline service with technology. However, their technology was completely useless. The check-in/out kiosks did not work and a staff member commented that it was a usual occurrence. Despite downloading the PUBLIC app, checking in ahead of time, and letting the hotel know when I would be arriving, getting my card took a long time because there were issues that happened “because I booked online.” Moreover, only 1 of the 2 automated systems worked for the locker storage they offered. The requests page on the app didn’t even work. The biggest issue, however, was with my check-out. I had confirmed with the staff via text that I would be checking out late at 3pm (which I paid an extra $150 for). However, I came back at 12pm after lunch to my room completely emptied out— a failure and extreme miscommunication on management’s end. In terms of amenities, PUBLIC lacked basic complimentary hotel amenities you would expect from a 4-star luxury hotel. My room was tiny and lacking complimentary toothpaste and water bottles. After asking the hotel about it, I was simply told that the hotel is a “self-service hotel” and to buy toothpaste at a kiosk on my floor (which, of course, was sold out). Finally, if you are under 5’ (I am 4’10”), don’t even think about staying here. The sink mirror (which is outside the bathroom), shower rain head, and the closet hangers are too high to reach. I had a host of other problems here but overall, I would not recommend this hotel unless you get a serious discount from their outrageous pricing at $500/night.

Hotel was beautiful, restaurant was amazing. The staff and hospitality service was disappointing. When I checked out I never received a bill. I emailed them with no response for 2 days then had to call. I was greeted by someone very nice and sent me my bill. But when the bill was different from my charge I called again today, a new employee answered with no polite greeting nor end the call like the previous employee. The team here should be trained better on hospitality protocol with speaking to guests and check out experience- to at least say “is there anything else I can help you with?” Or “thanks for calling have a good day”

The hotel deserves more than 5 stars definitely! I had a chance to spend here a night and that was incredible! The rooftop bar and there garden really impressed me cause the view from there was the best detail of the dinner. There are also a lot of activities held inside so you wouldn't sit without nothing to do or to see. I would like to thank the staff at the registration desk since they were extremely fast and competent in their work. Wonderful place

I hosted a party at The Roof and it was amazing. Ariel and Britney really took great care of us. They were accommodating, friendly, and fun. They have a very small menu, but they were able to put out enough food from the small kitchen to feed 25 people and they kept the drinks coming all night. They were our unofficial photographers, and the photos are amazing as it is literally the best rooftop view in the city. Thanks to Britney and Ariel for being great hosts and to whoever the hell Ian Schrager is. The guy knows how to design a venue/hotel.

My partner and I had a great time at the Public. It's such an architecturally gorgeous building with so many pretty features. The lobby, lounge, room, were all so unique.. This hotel is so cool I used the opportunity to propose to my now fiancé in the courtyard. Will never forget our experience there and hopefully get to come back soon.

It's cool if you like the connecting room door to be non-existent. Our neighbor wasn't being loud at all, but all audio went right under the door -- plus even their room lighting. Shocking with so much thought put into the design of this hotel, they couldn't figure out the door between rooms, the appropriate door density, and the massive sound tunnel gap underneath.

Perfection for a weekly business traveler. Incredible value for anyone in New York anyone who begs to differ has not spent 90+ days in New York hotels in the last year. The hotel is minimalistic and the service is intentionally low touch. There’s no concierge… You will not get help from the staff for tourism recommendations, getting things to the room, or hailing a cab. Do not stay here if you want those things, which often if I am on vacation I would want and expect! Personally, I love walking in, getting an amazingly spacious room for New York, talking to no one, and walking out with 0 interaction. Clean. Great neighborhood. Good coffee next door. Massive public transit half a block away that can outrun the cabs especially to brooklyn. I have been staying here 3 years, the quality has actually improved greatly and so has their software which is what prompted this review. Three completely flawless stays in a row and the price is lower! Thank you Public!

Let's cut to the chase. This establishment deserves 5 stars simply because of the wonderful staff that works here. The amenities are so-so, and they charge you for toothpaste? But take one trip to the rooftop bar or sit on the white couch in the lobby while you're working, and you'll understand why people are drawn to PUBLIC. I had a wonderful staycation, and I'd recommend anyone looking for a short break to strongly consider this hotel!

This place is eye candy for people who love to work from a hotel lobby. Absolutely beautiful hotel and relatively good wifi to get the job done. Loved the plants, the lighting, the tables, then everything. Could use some more outlets to accommodate the amount of people with laptops in the lobby but really stellar place to grab a coffee and sit and get a meeting or two done before hitting up my fave areas of Manhattan

This was a great place to stay. This hotel was energetic!!! Wonderful staff ,plenty of entertainment and good food. The decor was awesome. I had a city view from my room so , after the big fireworks show , I could see the other shows from my window without effort. The rooftop was so cool. Wonderful views of the city !!

We loved our weeks stay at Public NYC. Now we list it as our favorite hotel. Everything five star. Love the employees - all friendly and helpful. We are senior citizens and enjoyed the vibrancy of the employees. Our son has stayed several times and arranged this for us. Seriously? A garden in the middle of the lower east side. Lovely! Hope that we will be able to do another visit.

The Public Hotel in my opinion is extremely overrated and over priced, the place reminded me of a motel converted to look trendy like the ones out west. The only good thing it has going for it is it’s location. Check in is disappointing. No interaction with staff upon checkin to address any questions one might have. Payed extra for a better room and don’t be fooled, the view will be looking directly into someone else’s hotel room. The sheets were worn and rough. The shower soaks the entire bathroom. Shampoo and soaps are in a big container so I was concerned that they could have been tampered with by a prior guest. The rooftop bar was filled with young kids in their early 20s drinks served in heavily used plastic cups that have been washed so many times they weren’t clear any more. The restaurants on the ground floor looked good but I was disappointed with the rest of the experience I didn’t feel like giving the hotel any more of my money. Next time I spend $800 for two nights in NYC I’ll look somewhere else.

We stayed at the Public Hotel for 5 nights in Sept. the hotel sends a cool and trendy vibe but it tries too hard . It is far from a 5 star hotel, no reception, no room service, and the cafe has the worst service in NY. ( The Popular is amazing though). The technology that was meant to be easy just didn’t work, we arrived on a Saturday night and what few staff were around were far more interested in getting people up to the rooftop. This is a real case of technology that has failed. People like to deal with real people who are helpful and capable. Not technology that doesn’t work, or work sometimes and no one to help you.

Beautiful roof top bar and wedding venue along with a decent accommodation. Rooms were somewhat less in square feet age but that’s expected in NYC. Enjoyed the stay and event. Floor 17 for events and floor 18 for roof top bar. Views are gorgeous. Easy walks to popular spots in NYC. Room lighting and drapery automation is worth noting!

Very lovely ambiance and vibe. The rooms are gorgeous but small. Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to check out the rooftop. Although being a guest at the hotel, there are very strict rules for entering the rooftop. No one under 21 allowed - which was a bummer for my 18 year old sister who’s never been to a rooftop to experience. Second bummer for the rooftop is their dress code. Again, being a guest at the hotel doesn’t excuse for wearing shorts with strings that may appear to be sports/workout shorts…. Nonetheless it is a nice hotel is a prominent area where everything you’ll need is within walking distance.

I had an amazing stay at the Public hotel!!! Rooms are small but perfect for one or two travelers and extremely cozy and clean. Great restaurant, bar and cafe all within the hotel. I was skeptical of the self check-in but everything was extremely smooth and easy!!! The hotel has the most amazing location with a coffee shop and Whole Foods right around the corner of the hotel. Would definitely stay again!!

Great hotel. Awesome location. Great for studying, but there should be a policy that people should not talk loudly on their phones while others are studying. P.S. If i can hear the person through noise cancellation headphones, they are talking to loud. Otherwise, awesome location. AMAZING HOTEL.

Don’t book this hotel if you are looking for a comfortable stay. There is no room service, there are no robes, slippers, mini bar was empty, no water NO SERVICE. Shower in my room was moldy and beat. If you want to store your luggage at the hotel before/after checkout you need to figure out their self storage system and put heavy suitcases oh high shelves in lockers, there is nobody to help you with that. An employee downstairs told me they “don’t have umbrellas any more” so I had to run around looking for my Uber in the rain. Common space is apparently open to public, you have to fight for a spot to sit down on a stained dirty couch with your laptop in the lounge area. Want to get breakfast? Be prepared to hangout for 10min + before someone acknowledges your presence and gets you seated. Staying on Friday night? Be prepared to listen to music blasting until late. I can’t believe this hotel is a part of Amex Hotel Collection. I booked it because I thought it had cool design, but in person you see how cheaply and poorly it was made. Extremely disappointing.

Nice rooms, but no enforcement of their mask policy in common areas during the peak of Delta was disappointing. Thank you for your response Kira, but saying that your staff has been enforcing this policy is flat out wrong. I am attaching a photo I took *after* leaving this review, with your staff member (left) engaging with a group of 3 guests checking in; none of whom were wearing masks. I was picking up my bags in storage and had no choice but to stand in their proximity for several minutes while they tried to sort out whatever was the matter was with their booking. Many other guests weren't wearing masks in plain sight of your staff. I hope you don't continue to say that staff is enforcing this policy when evidence proving that statement is incorrect is in front of you, or would be easy to find if you reviewed your lobby footage. No one ever checked my vaccination status even though I stayed in the hotel for 3 days the date this supposed enforcement was put into place. Again, a policy in name only. Your staff also don't check vaccination status before guests use the fitness areas, which is something other hotels like the Ace Hotel in Brooklyn did during my trip. Seems like your hotel takes the hip club vibe of your lobby and bar more seriously than safety of your guests.

  • 4/5 Topher I. 2 years ago on Google
Gorgeously curated, impeccably well designed and staffed by a friendly, diverse group of very cool humans. I also felt very safe as proof of vaccination is required in most areas. Stayed there for my wedding and despite a stressful mixup with our reservation & some unfortunate elevator troubles (the only reason this review isn't 5 stars), I can say this is my favorite hotel in the city. The rooftop bar offers an incredible panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline and the indoor bar reminded me of Lost In Translation. This place is absolute eye candy and a photographers dream. The rooms are cozy, but well designed. Fans of minimalist designs will be in love. Will definitely be staying again.

The staff was all great and friendly but this hotel has some odd and inconvenient quirks. For example, there is NO BELLMAN! So, if you have a family it’s extremely inconvenient. I had just two family members on our stay but we were very surprised that a hotel of this stature would go so three star and not provide a necessity. The walls are very thin and we could hear our neighbors at all times that they were awake. We complained at 4am and they said they would send someone up to knock on their door but nobody ever arrived. The room is very small so go for the biggest size if you must stay. Also design is well done. Overall I would try not to stay here unless it’s for just a night. NO ROOM SERVICE whatsoever- you must go pick up your food. It’s more of a restaurant with some lodging, but not really an actual stay experience. If it’s a bargain deal just know what you’re not getting too.

Booked my stay directly on the hotel website and it was a hassle to get the package perks. It's not guaranteed - ended up not being able to check in early or late. Comfortable room and lively hotel restaurant and bar. Unresponsive staff but maybe because my room was on the low end - $450 a night. A disappointing experience and won't rebook in the future.

  • 2/5 Chris R. 4 months ago on Google
Small rooms. Uncomfortable beds... bathroom fixtures were broken and worn. The 'standalone tub' had could not be plugged, and staff couldn't support during our stay. Thin walls meant you were hearing every conversation (and more) from surrounding rooms. Everything felt cheaply thrown together. No doubt the design is great, but the execution was awful. For the price much better options in the neighborhood.

Nice hotel in the Bowery - convenient for co-working… or staying there. Modern vibe, with a very “Blade runner” escalator! Some quirks - check in or luggage handling is mostly self service, but there usually is helpful staff member to help out. I personally love the rooms - minimalist but comfortable. On the small side but am not looking for palatial suites! Shower heats up quickly and doesn’t have the silly mixing faucet you sometimes find. Another quirk in rooms: sink/mirror are in the main body of the room, not the bathroom… no room service, but conveniently, coffee and food available in the lobby (although morning coffee is expensive - $5 or more)

I quite liked everything about PUBLIC Hotel. It's obvious that thought went into the design of this hotel to make something beautiful (in a modern-urban sense) and thankfully the service doesn't lag behind. The rooms were small (a given in NYC) but very modern and well-designed. Mine had a small space for a desk and comfortable booth-like seating. The bed was comfortable and came with a perfect view of the city. Instead of a buffet, we were given credits for breakfast. The credits were only enough to cover a couple items; admittedly the quality of said items was very good. Service is exceptional. Our flight landed early in the day and though we arrived to the hotel much, much earlier than 2 P.M., they still welcomed us to an early check-in anyways. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and had a drink at the bar. I don't think the restaurant is necessarily worth the trip when you're already surrounded by so much good food. The bar downstairs was well decorated and lit and had a nice feel. Only downside is that it fills up very quickly to the point it becomes hard to move. We didn't visit the rooftop bar/club. Location is perfect obviously and probably why you're looking at this hotel in the first place. Value is great too. Ultimately, PUBLIC Hotel is the best option at its price point if I want a nice stay close to SoHo/Chinatown rather than in the tourist-packed hotel clusters near midtown.

Good location but the hotel itself was a bit trippy. There are no people are reception, so guests check into a tablet which was fine but I did miss a more personal experience. Although it’s a 4 star hotel there’s no room service, and no amenities. The hotel gets busy at night with party people going to the rooftop. Also the walls are paper thin you can hear snoring and conversations happening next door, and a few midnight hookups. Not a great experience for guests. If you’re coming here for the party and restaurants, that might be a better experience.

We had truly and amazing time spending our anniversary weekend at the Public Hotel in NYC. Food and drink were amazing and with a very lively atmosphere. We also spent some time on the roof but the restaurant on the ground with live music was more classy. Staff was very helpful when needed. We ended the stay at the outdoor seating for brunch. Thank you for having us! We will most certainly recommend everyone to stay here.

We had an excellent stay at Public- the hotel and rooms are exactly as pictured and so very photo worthy. Everything was 5 star, including the food. What really made the stay great was the exceptional service, namely from a gentleman named Gene (I believe he was concierge). We didn’t realize we had left one of our bags until we were already at LGA bit Gene took it upon himself to get the bag to us before our departure…he was so helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back. The world needs more people like Gene.

Stayed the night at the Public for business and had to travel with my disabled small dog. They were so HELPFUL in getting all my items up and out of my room, helping with parking, and checking in on my dog. The room was clean and the food and coffee were great. It has an amazing rooftop bar and view. I highly recommend!

PUBLIC is nice and I would consider it again on my next NYC trip. You have to know what to expect here though. Many things are kind of self-serviced and there's no traditional front desk. However, there is some staff in the lobby and they're very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, modern, and clean. The sink is small and kept outside of the bathroom itself, where the towels are, which I found to be a slight design flaw. Nevertheless, the whole place is kept in a nice, minimalistic desgin and even the bar by the lobby was surprisingly great. The cocktails were some of the best I had in the area. One thing to be aware of is that the area is rather loud and the place is not well isolated.

We booked a few days here over the 4th of July and it was a great experience. The rooftop provided a great place to watch fireworks, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was incredible. The in-house restaurant was a little pricey for what we got, but the food was good.

This is a chic spot but Definitely geared toward gen Z though. Rooms are so tiny. Clean but not great ventilation unless you open your room's window. Nice location overall.

Public is the place to be. We enjoyed being close to everything that we wanted to do and it’s also not in a tourist trap area. The decor is beautiful throughout and nicely curated. The rooftop gets really busy and you enjoy the benefit of line bypass for staying at the hotel.

I had such an amazing experience at this hotel. My partner and I were particularly pleased with the staff and the overall energy throughout the facilities. The manager, Demario was very professional, upbeat and tentative to us throughout our stay. We even stopped in the lobby to seek a staff member for any of our uncertainties. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

I’m currently sitting on their beautiful Rooftop; enjoying my last night in NYC. They have a quiet section of the rooftop just for hotel guests to make us feel like VIPs! Let’s review the beginning of our stay. Our check ins were easy, they didn’t have key cards left on the self check in counter; but a staff member was quick on refilling these for us and even offered to load up the code to our key cards. The room was perfectly displayed- identical to their website, and I absolutely love the shower! Every staff member I encountered has been polite, courteous and helpful. But I must highlight their superstar- Dante! His bubbly personality, quick resolution to our concerns regarding check out is the cherry on top of our stay. His hospitality and warm personality has guaranteed my future stay at this hotel! Thank you so much, from your new Canadian friend.

East and fast check in. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing room. The deep tub was so relaxing. Comfortable bed and nice closet with two full body mirrors. The lights in the room can set to any mood you want.

My experience at PUBLIC was amazing to say the least!! The hotel itself was beautifully designed and had the best rooms, amenities, and service in all of NYC. During our stay, Victor was extremely helpful in getting us checked in and answering any questions we had. All the staff were extremely kind and honestly made this experience ten times more enjoyable! The rooms were comfortable, the gym was clean, and the rooftop had breathtaking views! Everything was perfect. Keep in mind that this isn't your "traditional" hotel with a front service desk, instead it's a self check-in and out. They try to make this whole process effortless and easy (which it definitely was). Loved my stay at PUBLIC, don't hesitate to book here. I'm definitely going to stay here again when in the city!

The room we stayed in was small but it was well-designed and quite focused on good/unified design identity and user experience. It was comfortable, cozy and had a great view. Enjoyed the automation on front desk functions. This is a pretty high tech hotel with great decor. I personally like Chinatown food and this is pretty close to one. A short walk to touristy locations in Manhattan.

Loved my experience at Public. It’s in an excellent location and the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I only give four stars because I had issues with my electric block out blinds not working and had to call reception four times, and the issue was never fixed because by 11pm I decided to go to bed anyway. The hotel has a self-serve checkin/checkout, which is great for ease and speed, however in my experience the lack of reception staff proved inconvenient.

Stayed several times. Simply the coolest hotel. I usually buy the upgrade package when available, you get a much better view , the rooms are sexy and their rooftop is one of the best in the city. Also, the hotel is a few blocks from Soho which is always fun! I enjoyed the previous restaurant better, their pizza was divine. Now, the restaurant is Peruvian and I feel like Peruvian cuisine is saturated. Still my favorite stay in NYC.
