My stay at the Smyth was nothing short of a nightmare. I booked an extended stay and I was shocked with how they treat their guests. The staff was incredibly rude, disrespectful, and abrasive. You would expect a certain level of professionalism at an establishment who markets themselves like this; however, I felt uncomfortable and even unsafe throughout the duration on my stay. One example of this was when I got a call at 2 am. Out of nowhere, the lady at the front desk told me I would be “Locked out of my room without my belongings”, due to the fact that they had not been able to put a hold on my card. Where in reality, the guy who checked me in made a mistake and had only charged half the amount which he was supposed to. Is this the way you treat your guests? They also book corporate packages which allow rooms and hallways to be used as staging areas, make-up rooms, lounges, and storage areas. It’s completely inconsiderate to other guests on the floor. I couldn’t sleep for days. I also had to move rooms multiple times due to heavy leaks, smells, and a number of other plumbing issues. I would not stay here for free. There’s obvious mismanagement, lack of training, and some lack of decency amongst the staff. Horrible place - do yourself a favor and stay away. They ruined my trip.

AKA Smyth Tribeca made our December vacation to New York City absolutely perfect! Ever since we started planning this trip back in August, AKA Smyth Tribeca was incredibly helpful and accommodating. It was my boyfriend's birthday and they remembered when we arrived by immediately wishing him a happy birthday. There was a lovely note and champagne when we got up to the room. The room was gorgeous and clean. Fantastic view. The cleaning staff was extremely attentive. The lobby smells great. Perfect location in Tribeca with subway stops just steps away. AKA Smyth Tribeca will be our go-to place to stay in NYC from now on!

Front desk staff are a delight and if you are lucky enough to have Mario greet you, it's a wonderful night! A true boutique hotel. Everything is clean and comfortable and the Galerie Bar is friendly with a swanky, cozy atmosphere. The food in the Tavern is good. Neighborhood is fantastic!

Excellent boutique hotel in Manhattan. Very convenient location. Walking distance to metro stop, World Trade center and surrounding areas. The staff were super friendly and made me feel welcome as soon as I entered the property. The restaurant is excellent and the wait staff are on top of their game!

A great hotel in Tribeca with good-sized rooms that are both comfortable and quiet. The team is really exceptional and both the desk and the porters were so pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. Love the location for a much-changed Tribeca and incredibly handy for the subway. We stayed on the 3rd floor and although you could sense the subway running (the Chambers St station access is just outside the door) it wasn't distracting or an issue. Requests a higher floor, perhaps, if that's something you feel might be a problem for sleeping.

This place is great. Rooms are clean, location is cute and quiet, lounge area downstairs is elegant. I actually accidentally booked a room for the wrong dates but Edgar at the front desk was immediately able to rectify and place us in a different room at the same rate while also refunding me--literally saving our vacation!!! Thanks so much Edgar. Would easily recommend this place to anyone looking for a chic hotel at a reasonable price!

The hotel itself was nice enough, good location, large rooms, friendly staff. Unfortunately there were so many issues with the stay that it really soured the experience. To start, whilst staying at the hotel, the staff put on a new coat of paint in the bathroom while we were out, causing the room to smell of paint fumes. Supposedly they were planning to move our room but "forgot". Additionally, the hotel seemingly has a tendency to overcharge. When eating at the bar, they overcharged by double, which I had to call and resolve. Upon checkout, they double charged my credit card, and when I brought it to their attention, they didn't refund the full amount (and then did, but re-charged the difference). Ultimately there are 5+ charges on my credit card when there should have been 0. This has caused a lengthy back-and-forth for what should be a straightforward process. If you do choose to stay here, keep a close eye on your credit card statement.

Staff was great-- very professional, courteous, and dapper. Hotel is adjacent to express stops for the blue and red subway lines. This makes hopping across town easier (as you can skip many local stops in between), though you can always take a local train if need be. You can take an express A train from JFK to get to the hotel in a reasonable amount of time. Our room was nice and clean, though it had some wonky design features, for example, the shower has a frosted glass wall that faces the bed, so if you go to the bathroom at night, you might wake up your partner when you turn on the bathroom light. Outlets for charging weren't conveniently located. One good thing is that the minibar was stocked. Most hotels seem to be leaving them empty for some reason.

The room was very nice. The problem was we had no hot water on three different occasions over our two night stay. The hotel staff kindly fixed the problem the first two times and told us they would move our room if the problem persisted. The real problem came on the morning we were departing and there was no hot water again so we couldn’t shower. We alerted the front desk, politely asked them to comp us a night’s stay for the inconvenience, and went to grab breakfast. When we returned they told us they checked and there was no problem with the hot water in our room. We returned to the room…no hot water. We alerted the front desk and they told us “the engineer and the manager checked and there is hot water.” So…they were helpful until we asked for something but they told us we were imagining things when we asked them to comp us.

Nice posh hotel, which recwntly went under renovation. Right in the heart of Tribeca. Close and convenient to get to everywhere. Clean and has a friendly service. There ate still some minor renovation and repairs happening(lift etc.. ) but is not disturbing. They have a nice lounge for guests only, which also went under renovation. Hotels restaurant is lovely and tasty. Staff is very helpful. They could offer me steak since I inquired, even though it was not on the menu. I have stayed 2 two separate nights at the hotel, on the first arrival no complimentary water had been offered, nor one was present in the room. However, at the second arrival they both offered at check- in and once was present in the room along with a handwritten welcome note and a box of sweets, which weren't present at the first time either.

We had high expectations based on other reviews. Great location, aesthetically pleasing lobby. Aside from looking good, the quality was lacking when it came to the essentials. Firm beds low to the ground with scratchy bedding (no flat sleet just a thin comforter) and flat pillows. Not comfy or luxurious hotel bed feeling by any means. One ply toilet paper, and overused towels that felt like sandpaper. Robes felt like an old beach towel. Not enough/inconveniently located outlets. TVs with basic cable but no casting ability. No floor length mirror. If the quality of essentials matters to you, there are other hotels that offer more thoughtful service for the same price. Didn’t try the restaurant but paid $160 for two cocktails at their bar.

From the very start, our experience at Smyth Tribeca was great! We visited for our 14th wedding anniversary and to our surprise, there was a nice note, a bottle of wine and two gourmet cookies waiting in our room. Our room was modern and spacious especially considering a typical space in New York. The hotel staff and doormen were very polite and went ahead and beyond! It was a fantastic location with the Chambers Street subway right outside the front door. Tribeca is one of the more laid back neighborhoods we visited which was a nice change. Overall; a wonderful experience. We would definitely stay again.

Family of 4 shared room. Got us into our room early after a red eye flight. Amazing location right in front of subway, near great restaurants and easy access to sights. Staff is fantastic. Really great for 5 day trip to NYC. Thanks

I was able to check in early because my room was ready. Was greeted with complementary champagne. Views were beautiful from our penthouse suite. Front desk and managers were professional and friendly. Would recommend

The rooms are lovely and clean. The bed was comfortable the the temperature control worked well to keep the room to our liking. The front desk employees could not have been more welcoming. The glass of champagne upon arrival is a nice touch but the young man who helped us when we left the hotel went over and above the call of duty. He saw that we were struggling with calling and uber and volunteered that the subway would take us to Penn Station in only 2 stops. When we inquired as to what we needed to do to use the subway, he reached into his own wallet and gave us his Metro card with money on it!! I wish I had asked his name and would like to pay him back. We will definitely stay at this hotel in the future and recommend it to our friends.

I was having trouble with my reservation and one of the managers, Madeline Rodriguez, was helpful and accommodating and I was upgraded to a penthouse suite, which was very beautiful and cozy. Also, the front desk reps- Gabriel, Yubi, and Edgar were also a pleasure. I very much enjoyed my stay. I plan to stay here again if I have the chance, and have already recommended this location to my friends and family. Thanks again!

There were two managers (or hosts?) I encountered, one who was extremely skilled with customer service, and one who was not. I will call them Person1 (skilled) and Person2 (not so skilled). The PROS: - Walking distance to my work - Great neighborhood, as I used to live in the area - Very friendly front desk staff - Very Reasonable room rates - Very Reasonable valet parking rates The CONS: 1. 1 Hour Late Check: Our room was 1 hour late from check in time because the staff had to clean up extra from the previous guest. That was fine with me, I was okay to wait. Person1 was extremely compassionate and offered us a $75 voucher for the bar or Smyth Tavern. I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative. 3 of my friends came to meet me at the hotel (as I was expecting to be ready to head out for dinner by then), and I asked Person2 (Person1 had stepped away) if we could grab $75 worth of drinks at the Tavern while we waited for the room. Person2 said "No, there are too many of you, plus your friends are not guests of the hotel. We can give you a glass of champagne each instead." I completely understood we weren't entitled to anything at all, so I said "Okay thank you." But I still don't understand why Person2 was so exasperated, as I knew the comp was limited to $75. Even if it went above $75, they could have charged the extra to my room. Instead the group of us had to stand awkwardly at the front desk while this strange exchange happened... 2. Dirty Room: The trash from the previous guest was not emptied, and was filled over the brim. The corner of the closet door was broken off, and there was a strange brown streak on the wall of the bathroom. 3. Malfunctioning Bedroom door: We stayed in a suite where there was a bedroom door. When my husband shut the door to the bedroom from the outside, we were locked out of the bedroom. We went to the front desk and they called the hotel "engineer" (similar to a super?) to fix it. He did a great job, and we were thankful. 4. $1100+ bill from the Hotel (!!): After we checked out, I was extremely dissatisfied and confused to receive a bill for $1100+. I called the Hotel and thankfully Person1 answered. He apologized for all of the inconveniences I experienced, and corrected the mistaken charges to $300+ (which was accurate for parking and hotel fees). He even took off one of the fees because of the trash that was not emptied from the previous guest. I was extremely grateful for the ease of this conversation. 5. The $65 straw that broke the camel's back: 2+ weeks later, I received yet another charge on my card for $65 from the hotel. My stay was already over 3 weeks ago. This is why I am writing this review, this is completely unacceptable and borderline-fraudulent behavior from whoever is approving and executing these charges at the hotel. No matter how convenient and great the location, how great SOME of the staff are, I will never stay at this hotel again.

I highly recommend the Smyth Tribeca! Our room was spacious and very clean. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The hotel is located within walking distance of the 911 Museum, Battery Park ( ferry to Statue of LIberty and Ellis Island), Empire State Building and the Chamber Street Subway station is right outside the door. We hope to return soon.

Spacious, clean and comfortable room right on W Broadway, only minutes walking distance to the World Trade Centre, shops , restaurants and supermarkets. Quiet for a good night’s sleep and a fantastic shower. Friendly, accommodating staff, happy to accommodate all my requests. Would definitely recommend to stay at Smyth Tribeca.

Rooms are big which is probably the only pro. Hotel had no water bottles. Bed was very very hard. Had issues with AC unit which was ultimately resolved but took a while to fix late at night. Hotel definitely is not bad and it has potential but could be so much better.

The showers don’t drain. Two people open the door and don’t bother to help with bags. Front staff have no emotion just cold. Room service has hidden delivery fee and gratuity added. This isn’t a restaurant you don’t have to tip for basically no service. It’s in a great location if you like Tribeca. Personally I prefer the Upper West Side and access to Central Park.

Super friendly staff. Rooms aren't huge but they are clean and really well designed. Well situated for the WTC if you are visiting the memorial.

Had a wonderful experience staying at the Smyth - highly recommended. Wonderful and attentive staff and a beautifully presented and clean room. Have stayed in many hotels in New York but this is by far my favourite. Truly one of the finest boutique hotels in Manhattan. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I have zero complaints or bad things to say about this place. I rented out a terrace suite for a going away party for one night. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Xavier was very quick to help out and he was a great guy to talk to. Edgar reached out before I even arrived to ensure I had everything I needed. The room was beautiful and very clean. They were very kind to my guests and were extremely helpful. I'll definitely be recommending this place and using it again. For travelers, its also well situated right next to the 1,2,3 train!

As soon as you pull in, staff wait behind the door to help you with your luggage. You're greeted with warm smiles from reception. Rooms are cozy, clean and quiet. Iike it better than the Conrad.

It’s a very nice hotel, nice stuff, light in bathroom was bothering me at night, switching on directly as I was entering the bathroom, normal but too bright. My bathroom had someone’s hair in the corner. The rest was great.

I spent here 3 night during my last business trip in NYC. I tried several hotel in the city, but honestly speaking, I never found nothing like this! Position: is located in a beautiful area, in the border between Tribeca and Financial District. In front of the hotel there’s also the connection to the subway trough Chambers std exit. Location: all in the hotel smell of new or recently renovated. The hall is very nice, full fill of sofas that grant to meet somebody or just for a rest after a long day on walking in the city. The hall is also directly connected to the restaurant Smyth Tavern, where you can have a fantastic breakfast, a good lunch, a nice dinner or just for a cocktail. The location is really suggestive during the evening thank to its internal style, soft lights and a beautiful bar counter. The place is frequented by very nice people, so is a pleasant to stay here. Room: my room was amazing! Really super clean, super silent, super comfortable bed, very big bathroom with amazing shower. Coming back after a day around city was all the time a pleasure! Gym: the hotel have also a gym, open 24h. Is not big but equipped with all the most important machines. Staff: a i have to admit that the staff all the time that i have had need of them, has been soo kind and professional to reply to all my request! Price: the price is not cheap, but in line with other hotel in that area, with more benefit, so i think that is correct. To conclude, i have to say that if you need a very good base to approach you business or vacation in NYC, Smyth Tribeca represent a good choice, so don't let it get away!!

Two weeks ago we stayed at the Smyth for a birthday trip. The staff was beyond incredible! They made it feel like an extra memorable trip. Not only did they upgrade our room but they sent up a great bottle of wine. The room was spacious and lavish. I have been to a couple of hotels since the beginning of the pandemic and I have to say they had a level of service and quality I forgot existed in the hospitality service. Thank you Smyth Staff for such a lovely birthday.

The staff at the Smyth Hotel Tribeca recognized that they were still building a few features into amenities of the hotel but they made up for that in their impeccable service and cleanliness of the rooms and common areas. My sister and I traveled there 2 weeks back and we loved the space, the bed was comfortable and the staff went out of their way on multiple occasions to help us out with restaurant reservations and things we needed during our stay. We both agreed, that not only was it in an ideal location to get to everything we planned for our trip, but we would also come back and stay here again in a heartbeat! Good service can be hard to come by and they were not short of that at all during our stay. Thank you so much SMYTH Tribeca Team! Ps. the lobby smells great and the decor is beautiful, they have done a great job with this little home away from home!

I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel! We were treated like VIP's the entire stay. Each and every staff member was warm and inviting including the front desk staff, doormen, and housekeeping. Our room was perfect and cleaned to perfection daily. The hotel even smells amazing. We were traveling to NYC because my daughter had scans and doctors' appointments at Sloan Kettering... it was also her 17th birthday. When I shared this with the staff we came back to fresh flowers and balloons for my daughter in our room... truly over the top and so appreciated customer service! We will be back for sure! Thank you, Smyth Tribeca for all the thoughtful extra touches and for hiring such fabulous people!

We have mixed feelings about our stay. We loved the property and its location. It’s in a great part of the Tribeca with a fun neighborhood, near the subway and walking distance to SOHO. We also loved our room stay was modern and clean, very nice! The front doorman and the restaurant/bar team are fantastic! They were so helpful and welcoming. As was the gentleman who checked us in. The biggest problem here are the rest of the front desk people — particularly those working the evening shifts. They are a random team who have no knowledge of the area, Manhattan and zero customer service. They were just rude. Simple questions like requests for neighborhood restaurants, requesting a car service or recommendations on neighborhoods left them frazzled and became complicated and unpleasant conversations. This hotel needs a concierge, coffee in the rooms and some training for the front desk. We are any be clear that the rest of the team was greatfront door, restaurant/bar, maid service — all were awesome! This hotel is a gem otherwise!
