By far the worst hospital in brooklyn, the emergency room is filthy i literally just watched a man come into the ER in so much pain he collapse and security and staff just stood there and watched. I have been sitting here for 4 hours and have not been called and others have been here hours before me and was not called. It seems you have to yell and scream just to be serviced. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. If you can take our money then provide better service and a cleaner environment

I would give this hospital zero stars if I could. Please take these negative reviews seriously, this hospital is dangerously incompetent. I've had a family member die here after a routine appendix removal surgery. Do not let an ambulance take you to this hospital- call an uber or a cab or a friend and go somewhere else. My partner was taken here in an ambulance for alcohol poisoning and was left on a gurney in the hallway overnight with his own vomit. Seriously. No IV, no stomach pump, no hospital gown, literally nothing but a gurney in a dark hallway.

If I could give this hospital zero stars I would. The workers here are very rude and are very lacking in common sense and bedside manner. I went in to have some imaging done because I was having intense pelvic pain. The woman at the front desk was ok and registration went pretty quickly. I was then called to the back by a nurse who was very dry and unfriendly. She took my vitals and asked me a few questions before she sent me into another waiting room. I was then called by another receptionist who was having trouble logging my insurance and tried to tell me that it was inactive when this was in fact untrue. After waiting for her to fix it, I was then called into a room by a male doctor. He asked me what I was in for and I start to explain, and he keeps asking me these follow up questions. At first I thought it was because he was trying to get a clear understanding of my symptoms to better assist me. Then I realized it was because he didn't believe that I was having a problem. Instead of listening, he began to drill me and would also talk down to me as if he thought I couldn't comprehend what he was talking about. It was a nightmare. After 10 min of this he finally took me into an exam room and had brought in a female nurse to assist him. They had me undress my bottom half and sit on a table. Before he started, I asked him what exactly would he be doing. His response, had nothing to do with what I requested which was Imaging for my pelvis. When I asked why we weren't doing that, he said well we don't have any GYNs on the weekend (which I find ridiculous for an ER). I was so frustrated I burst into tears. To be in pain and come to a hospital where the staff is so lacking in compassion was one of the most terrible situations to be in. I had to go through 3 people and tell them why I was there 1 after the other and no one thought to tell me that I couldn't even be helped? I came to that hospital in pain and left the same way and all I got from them was an "oh well" attitude. I saw so many unhappy patients cursing the staff out, I don't know why I didn't just pick up and go someplace else in that moment. This place is a disgrace.

11/20/2020 - I can’t speak to other aspects of the facility, but I came here to get a Covid test and was truly impressed. We arrived around 8:15AM (the testing site opens at 8:30) after trying City MD, Modern MD and Wycoff sites (all with lines down the block and in the cold from 7:15 onwards). Anyways - We were greeted at the front entrance here and told to follow a red line to the Covid site inside the building. From there we waited (socially distanced, some time on benches and some time standing), were handed clipboards to fill out standard info, and then were called by name to be tested all a very painless and well run process. The women that are running this site (+ the man from the clinic across the hall that came to help!) deserve to be commended and respected. They were warm, organized, friendly and efficient. We were on our way by 10:30a (a much quicker process from that I imagine we would have experienced waiting outside/in the cold). By the time we left I already had received an email prompting me to setup the portal where test results will be sent. Not sure if it’s clear but highly recommend coming by - especially early in the morning - for testing needs if required.

FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY, DO NOT GO HERE!! YOU WILL DIE HERE!! The level of incompetence of ALL staff--doctors, nurses, techs, etc.--is abhorrent. I don't know how most of these employees even have certifications. The pure indifference of the entire staff calls for a quite literally unhealthy environment. They openly laugh at and make fun of patients which is so, so sad. I was told by one of their staff that most of them are contracted workers, so they don't even put in effort into their jobs because their jobs aren't guaranteed. While I understand that we all have to make money, this is a job in which someone's paycheck SHOULD NOT effect the quality of work, as this is a LITERAL HOSPITAL. Most of the staff is gossiping with each other most of the time about other patients, others are falling asleep behind their desks at the start of their shifts, and overall they do not care for the needs of their patients. It takes them 5 hours after checking a patient in to even do a blood test. The doctors are no better.

Please dear God never send your love ones to this hospital. This hospital is a death trap. The nurses here are clueless and unprofessional. My father got admitted to this hospital and I tried to get in contact with the nurse/staff. But no one would pick up the phone. Three days later, the doctor finally called and told me he died. My heart broke into a million pieces. They left my father to die in this hospital and I will never forget it. I will never step foot near this hospital or advise anyone to come here. Go to NYU or somewhere else. Pay the extra money it will save your love one lives.

Disappointed in the way the staff treat their patients. Care felt innappropriate in the emergency room and I understood it was a busy night with short staff but it was hard to feel cared for. I was admitted in a city I don’t know anyone in and all I asked was for a phone charger after I had been waiting for treatment for 8+ hours. No one could help and I ended up being discharged (still with a high fever but stable) and having to find my way back via train due to not having any way of calling other transportation. It was a scary, lonely experience and I wish someone could have showed some compassion :(

Dr. K Acosta from pediatric walk in clinic was very unprofessional during an appointment visit for my daughter. While she was examining my daughter Ms.Acosta was interrupted several times by other nurses. The main reason for this appointment was to get surgery clearance for my daughter and for the doctor fill out the necessary paperwork to do so. Not finishing up with us she (Dr. Acosta) told us to wait in the waiting room and to give her 10 minutes to finish up the paperwork.10 minutes turned into half an hour and come to find out she had taken another patient. I went to patient relations to make a complaint and was told by her supervisor ( Cynthia G Biokye ) that she doesn’t has to fill out the paperwork and that she’s only doing it as a favor. Their excuse would be that there was only one doctor at the time and there were other patients. Meanwhile the whole time, there were only 3 to 4 people at a time in the whole 3 hours we waited altogether. Basically the clinic was very much empty that entire time. Our appointment was for 10am and end up being there till 1 pm.

How can I give 0? If you love yourself or your family, don’t come here. The level of absolute incompetence carries from reception to doctors. I unfortunately was subject to this place for way too long. They deserved medical malpractice suit for my mother alone, but I was too busy grieving. Please try NYU instead. Good luck all.

I always seem to have the worst experience at this hospital. I never let my mother go alone because staff and Dr's. are always so rude. On 10/25/2023 my mother was scheduled for surgery at 6am and when we arrived early we let security know and asked if it was okay to wait in the waiting area.. around 5:50 we assumed it would be okay to head up and check in as we received a call from staff that we had to arrive early to check in. They had sent police officers to escort us out and were very rude and racist to me and my mother. It was an honest mistake that could happen to anyone who's new. I will be transferring my mother to kings county hospital as I've had much better experiences from them than here.

I had a serious injury and came to the ED for treatment. The ED team told me that an emergency appointment request was made to Orthopedics, who would reach out to me within 2 days. This was time-sensitive. After 6 days and multiple attempts to reach out to Woodhull and the Orthopedics team myself, I have still not heard anything about a follow-up. When I was referred to Patient Relations to try and get this solved, the number rang for an hour and no one ever picked up. EDIT: Just called again and got hung up on while being transferred. EDIT: Called back and got hung up on again.

This place is the worst when trying to speak with someone for contact the ER Department. I called because our daughter was in their ER Department. The first, time was crazy because they put me on hold before knowing what I wanted. Second, time I called they put me through to the ER Department once again they put me on hold without letting me ask them if my daughter was there. To top it off I was calling from Maryland and thought of our daughter being in this Place made me SICK! If they didn't have respect for me on the other end of the phone how could I even consider that they would give my daughter the Best CARE Needed! I am so disgusted with this place because I have been on hold for almost 30 mins. (speaker) and know one has come back to the phone so that I could check up on my loved one so far away. Maryland Hospitals, Medical Center, Urgent Care Centers, never treat Customers call their ER Department like this! YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBLE!

I am filling a complaint about this hospital. I went there on September 14th to the emergency room for an abdominal pain during my pregnancy and it was the WORST day of my life ,no one should be treated like this,it was INHUMANE, zéro care, no compassion, the Obgyn in charge that day should be in jail, and no one's cares, absolutely no one. Do yourself a favor and don't go there!

If you want a peaceful exciting pregnancy do not go here!!! 🤢 The staff are rude and have their attitudes always ready to leave and go home, you can tell they don’t like what they do! One dr got into an argument with two nurses and forgot to take my baby heartbeat and had to call me back again. Super unprofessional environment. Made me stress more than be calm. I wanted to give birth here only because the have mid wives and I love the idea of that but no not worth it! I went to kings county hospital set up my appointment and the first 10 min out reaches that entire place inlove with the nice calming staff much better experience (they remodeled so it’s super nice)

I have unfortunately had to visit this place several times because of its proximity to my home, but the employees here show a blatant lack of concern for the welfare of their patients. Instead of displaying professional behavior while performing their duties, they are rude and possess negative attitudes. If they do not wish to work as nurses, they should not choose this profession and should refrain from mistreating their patients or disregarding their well-being.

The entire emergency room staff are disrespectful. The nurse's forgot there bedside manner. I watched a woman who was suffering with chest pain lie on the floor and doctor's passed her by without a second glance. I witnessed not one but 2 nurse's curse at patients. To see a triage nurse it took 2hrs. Nurse's are supposed to make patients comfortable not curse and argue with them..

I went into labor really fast and couldn’t make it to the hospital I planned to deliver at so I ended up here. I didn’t know anything about the hospital, and I was completely freaking out but my experience was great. Every single nurse and doctor I interacted with was amazing, great patient care and bedside manner. The delivery room and maternity room were both clean and spacious and really nice.

Emergency room visit w/ boyfriend. He was in a lot of pain and throwing up so we went to the nearest hospital even though we were dreading going there. Over 4 hours b4 a doctor even begrudgingly came to check him. Then they finally took blood and urine and we’re into our 6th hour now and still no results. Oh and we’ve been told that if blood and urine are clean that’s it. No x-ray or nothing. We get sent home and can follow up at the clinic tomorrow. As if we’d ever come to the clinic here. After all this time we’re going to stick it out and wait for the results. Horrible experience. Only good thing was our nurse Marc. I have to give it up to Marc. He was the only attentive person in the whole ER and treated us well

I'm not from NY and i was afraid to go here when i saw all the bad reviews but i decided to go have my own experience. The staff was very helpful and quick in putting me into the system. It was busy but they still saw me and were able to treat me. I'm from CT where there's less people and i was very impress with the service here. I realized last minute that its also a mental hospital as some guy was being dragged away but other than that its a good place.

My friend was taken here for mental treatment and every single person they encountered was extremely unhelpful and had no compassion for any of the patients or their well-being. Was admitted overnight and had I had the chance to choose the hospital I would never have gone here. I will tell you DO NOT go to this hospital, the staff is rude, cannot answer simple questions and has zero empathy (probably overworked and underpaid) , their facilities are gross and their management is extremely disorganized. Be prepared to be treated like a dog, wait half a day to be seen, be sent all around the hospital for a simple task or transferred multiple times over the phone to not even get a problem resolved. Also watch your stuff, they’ll loose it if it’s taken by the hospital or it’ll get stolen.

This is the worst rated Hospital in New York City My mother-in-law broke her shoulder and arm And after six hours of surgery they told her she was going home the next day. Her discharge was a disaster. The social worker never printed out the discharge papers and When the ambulate arrived to transfer her they left because no paper work was available. Anyone reading this should never consider going to this hospital.

Upon arriving to the ER, intake staff and security treated me like a convict. The registration desk staff didn’t even make eye contact with me while taking my information. Triage skipped me three times while in the waiting room due to me throwing up in the bathroom repeatedly. I even told registration and security I’d be using the bathroom frequently due to my illness and they just disregarded it. No communication amongst staff. Only one bathroom was usable in the waiting area as the others were clogged with feces and toilet paper. The unusable bathrooms remained that way the entire two hours I waited to be seen by a doctor. I told the doctor several times this all was a complication of an already diagnosed ulcer, yet every member of the medical staff went on to interrogate me about my drug use, which is not existent. After I begged for an IV and anti nausea meds due to all the fluids I was still continuously loosing, I passed out, to wake up five hours later to no interest in the ulcer issue, but rather sending me home with a prescription to pepto, which shouldn’t be taken with ulcers. Avoid this fresh hell if you care about your health and well being Update: I had told the NP who discharged me that Walgreens didn’t take my insurance, that i needed my prescription sent to CVS. Yet again, didn’t listen, sent all my prescriptions to Walgreens. Woodhell Hospital at its finest.

One of the worst hospitals I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. How unlucky am I that for emergency my father was brought here and kept over 12 hrs without a single of his medicine being given or food. He is a dialysis and diabetes patient. And calling them comes at no avail as no one answers the phones either. During discharge they finally checked his bp which was over 177 which usually never goes over 130. And the doctor discharged him without getting his bp down. Horrible my next call is the dept of health service to let them know how life threatening this hospital is.

I gave a one star rating 4 months ago, but I am back to update this with some actual text as I’ve had enough after a third bad visit. I mean it when I say this hospital and it’s staff are just the worse. They lack empathy and have the most ghetto staff. I’ve had receptionist stick their hands out towards my direction without looking at me to tell me to sit because they were to busy to talk. I’ve had OB Ultrasound techs perform a sonogram on my wife with the coldest of attitudes and their supervisors and doctors defend their actions. I’ve filled complaints only to have doctors tell my wife “oh that’s it? I thought there was more.” This hospital is the worst I’ve been in.

This is the worst experience ever ! I seriously thought that because is a New York hospital it was a first world thing but NOT AT ALL!!!! I waited more than 6 hours!!!! On the emergency room just to have a nurse take my temp at 7:30pm and then at 11:30 pm they told me “they forgot about me” … by 12:30am I had to leave cause I never got to see anyone … the receptionist said “they will still charge emergency charges because the nurse saw you” … how do you fight those charges???!!!! I never saw anyone for what I came for !

I had a mental health stay recently. I would like to be more specific but I just want to say, people did help me and I did obtain the meds I needed. However for lack of a name, certain employees have no right to be employed in a mental facility. Bald headed Bronx man told me he was in prison and was acting like he was going to get physical with me if I approached him further. Another employee told a nice friend of mine to go "drown herself" within the inpatient area. I used to work for the Department of health and even I know that's no way to treat mental health patients. There were otherwise some great staff, I know their names but I'll avoid any other specifics. Just relieved I got help but I worry other mental health patients don't.

If I could give it negative stars I would! My dad was taken here by ambulance and being from out of town we did not realize how bad the care would be, since it is part of NYU. The nursing staff, had zero empathy, zero sense of urgency and seemed to be annoyed anytime you asked for help. The drs had zero follow through and the only person to seem to care was a MRI technician. The entire building was run down and lacked simple necessities like towels. The worst part of his stay was when the gave my dad the WRONG medicine which could have been deadly. These people simply don’t care about the patients or their families.

I went to the ER for chest pains and they quickly admitted me and ran tests to find blood clots. The staff took my condition seriously and gave me wonderful care. There’s a lot going on in the hospital but the nurses, doctors, and staff were respectful, kind, and helpful the entire time. A big thank you to the whole ER staff including the nurses Megan and Amsterdam, Roberto who shuffled me to appointments, as well as my whole care team on the 8th floor. Glad I made the decision to go to Woodhull.

Measured me three times just to not put it on my medical record. Projecting is an ugly matter and I was already underweight to begin with. If my family hadn't bought me food, I would've starved with the little food they did give for someone of my stature. Not to mention, the lack of respect from staff and professionals. Healthcare is about saving lives, not about a paycheck or feeling smart. The best medical professionals are those who are humble about their knowledge and consider the patient's input. Also, some of the nursing students who intern here are incredibly rude. They're not my doctor and I didn't sign up to be their guinea pig. Thank God I knew enough about medicine to stop myself from receiving a misdiagnosis, but I will not be returning to this establishment ever again. Unbelievable.

The emergency room had the same problems that are found at any emergency room of a public hospital. But that doctors, nurses and staff at a regular floor and room were very good. They provide the attention that a sick person needs, not only from the medics point of view, but as a human been.

Their system is very flawed. It is very frustrating being the middle man when one staff member says one thing and another staff member says something different, especially when they do it in a condescending tone and look at you like youre stupid as if you are the one that works there. This was especially my experience with the white doctors/nurses, but not the clerks. They get an extra star because the black gentleman checking the temperature is always nice and welcoming.

One of the worse experiences isto have your family member at the emergency room and this hospital make it so difficult to see your relatives. They have everyone forming one line for registration and to get a pass in order for you to get access. On top of that they only allow one family member at a time. They need to improve their "Emergency Service"

The service that my mother in law received on Saturday October 10, 2020 was absolutely horrible. The lack of care and cleanliness was horrible also. The cleanliness in the waiting area and the bathrooms wasn't good at all.

If the ambulance driver gives you another choice, take it. Don’t do what I did and come here. These jokers ignored an obvious concussion (because I guessed the day of the week correctly, *on my second try*…SMH) and misquoted me in their notes, complicating my insurance coverage and a lawsuit. They also caused an infection in an abrasion by putting on a bandage that fused with my skin on contact. I’ve got scars and permanent brain and vision damage now. JFC.

My review is mostly for the maternity/L&D ward. I gave birth to my first child here. I had a fantastic experience. I was using an OB at Woodhull, and she was fantastic. The wait time for my first two visits was way too long (over an hour for the first and two hours for the second), but after that the wait was mostly good. The actual doctor herself was fantastic. I never felt rushed. She was thorough and always gave me time to ask questions. She was gentle and had a good bedside manner. She was actually able to be there for my birth as well, which was nice. I had to be induced. My induction went smoothly. All of the nurses and midwives were fantastic. They were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean and all a good size. We had one room for triage, another room for labor and delivery, and another room for post partum recovery. Are the rooms super fancy? No. The furniture is a bit dated. But they're clean and spacious. The bathrooms are clean and spacious too. My only complaint about the bathrooms is that the toilets are a little high, which is especially hard when you're pregnant or have just given birth. I felt like I was in good hands. Everyone was very calm, friendly, and helpful. I would definitely go back here again for future pregnancies. I've also taken my baby to the pediatric unit here. So far, it's okay. The wait can be a bit long, and the waiting room gets a bit crowded, which is not my favorite when I'm trying to keep my baby away from germs. The doctors are pretty good. The most annoying part about here is scheduling appointments. They tend to schedule you with random doctors, and calling to reschedule an appointment is a pain because you have to call NYC Health and Hospital and get transferred a bunch of times. I would appreciate a way to schedule appointments online or at least a direct number to call. I would also prefer if they confirmed appointments with you before booking them. They book you with random doctors at random times without telling you. Other than that, I've had a surprisingly good experience there.

Called to make an appointment at the Ophthalmology department. It was around 4:28 pm when I was forwarded to whoever was suppose to assist me with that. I was put on hold. Then the girl picks up and I hear chatter amongst her and her co worker and she puts me back on hold after a few seconds. I was never attended and they stop working at 5. I did not get off till about 5 12. The service is horrible. Also this was the second time I called today they did something simular beforehand.

I had an annual checkup at this clinic. The doctor did not listen to my complaints, and said that he would look at everything according to a blood test. I was booked for a blood test and a follow-up visit to the doctor in a month. The blood test was bad, cholesterol was greatly overestimated and several other indicators. As a result, the doctor said that he did not know why the cholesterol levels were overestimated. And she gave me a new blood test in 3 months. I'm going to change the clinic.

I would not go here again. To start, I was repeatedly forgotten about due to the ER being understaffed which resulted in me being their for 5 hours. Additionally, I came to the ER after being attack by a bat and was not taken seriously, although bats are the most common animal responsible for transmitting rabies to humans, which is a condition that has no cure and results in an unavoidable death, if no post-exposure treatment is given prior to the development of symptoms. They deemed it unlikely to happen because its NYC and instead insisted I was lying and in drugs, despite the drug test the fact that they made me do came back negative. Although the circumstance does seem unlikely, it indeed did happen. I wasted time and money here and ended up having to go to another hospital to receive the proper treatment I needed.

Came in via ambulance after cutting my leg and requiring stitches. I was directed to sit down until someone came over to treat me. No one told the staff it was self inflicted so I sat around waiting to be seen with an open gash on my leg in the dirty emergency room. Once someone finally spoke to me, about 45 minutes later, and asked what happened, I told them I had cut myself and the all of a sudden rushed to treat me upon finding out it was self inflicted. Before they even got me a bed to sit on or a gown to change into they took all of my belongings and locked them up with no explanation. I overheard one nurse tell another “No one told me this was self inflicted, I would’ve put more urgency on it had I known.” I then sat in the trauma unit waiting to be stitched up for a few hours. After receiving stitches I sat around for another few hours waiting to be seen by a psychiatrist for a psych evaluation. After seeing the psychiatrist in the Emergency Psychiatric Unit, I was told I would be discharged but due to it being late at night I was to wait until the daytime doctor evaluated me. Okay... The only problem? There wasn’t enough beds for the number of patients admitted. Leaving myself and many other patients with the option of sleeping on the floor, or in a chair. In addition to this, they needed some bloodwork on me. Their solution was to have staff pull my blood right there in a dim common area. It took 3 tries between two nurses to find a vein. I was very dehydrated from being in the ER for 7 hours with no water, so it was hard to draw my blood. They told me to drink some water and I asked where I could do that only to be ignored. Later in the night I was awoken to be shown to a room with a bed to sleep in. Not that it’s a hotel, but there wasn’t any pillows. I later saw that no one had pillows, leaving everyone who was lucky enough to have a bed, lie flat on their back. The next day, another doctor evaluated me, only this one told me that I would be admitted to the psych unit. One doctor said I was stable enough to leave because I am treated in outpatient, another said I needed to be transferred to the psych unit because my cut required 7 stitches. After that I heard nothing from no one. The next day I saw yet another psychiatrist. This one told me I did not need to be admitted and I could be discharged if anyone (literally anyone) could vouch for my safety. So they discharged me. I told them I had no phone, wallet, or keys, because they were given to my boyfriend who I had come in with. I also told them I couldn’t reach him and asked if I could stay until I could get ahold of him. They told me that there was a courtesy phone in the lobby I could use. The only problem with the courtesy phone in the lobby? It only works to call IN the hospital. Otherwise, there was a pay phone. But again, I had no wallet. I asked customer service if there was any way I could contact my boyfriend to let him know I needed to be picked up but they were very rude and said their phone only called in the hospital. I then asked if I could call the unit I was on to see if they could make a call on my behalf, because again, even if I walked home, I didn’t even have to keys to my apartment. The staff at customer service told me they should have already done that for me, and that she couldn’t help me. Luckily, I ended up using the free phone across the street and waited outside for him. Overall, not a great experience. A majority of the staff I encountered seem to be annoyed at having to do their job.

I am beyond upset, disheartened, and scared at present moment. I understand the telephone operators are busy, and i never intended to take their time away from their duties, but they hung up on me without responding to my honest questions and concerns regarding the patient in question. They told me to come to the clinic at 2C120 at 3 to see one of the doctors who would be available. When I arrived they seemed like they had no idea what I was talking about. They don’t answer their phone so there was no way to verify anything so I’ll just show up again tomorrow and most likely repeat the same experience I just had.

The staff are s generally pleasant, that’s the ONLY reason Woodhull gets ANY stars at all! We have been waiting for nearly a year to have paperwork filled out to get a family member suffering from dementia on to Medicaid in order to get a home attendant. We need to create a “trust” for her. We are still waiting!

I have been in Woodhull Hospital for the last three weeks. For the most part, my experience has been positive. I have received great service from all of the medical professionals. The environment is clean and the room is comfortable. I have, however, two concerns. Firstly, I am in an isolation unit. My television went black on Saturday afternoon and today is Wednesday - it still has not been replaced. I've tried to address the matter via the already established means with no avail. No one would actually get back to me. This is very unprofessional. In addition, the meals lack creativity and are not fully followed on the weekend. These things aside, my care here was good.

Even 1 star is too good. I was demonstrative of a stroke and they parked my gurney in the hallway. When I did finally make it behind a curtain in the actual ER, I was sharing this small space with a girl who had urine in a cup in the bed with her. There were a host of other subpar conditions that I observed. When the doctor finally got around to seeing me, he inaudibly told me his name. He spoke in an extremely incoherent accent and was soooo nasty. There is no other way to describe him. He became annoyed with any question I asked even if it was because I didn't understand him and told me if I wanted to leave I could or I could let him check me. He walked away never to return. I left like he told me and 24 hrs later someone called to follow up. When I told the woman what my experience was she said she wished me luck in having a better experience. Please believe me when I say this hospital exceeds it's reputation of being a death sentence for people in need of emergency medical care. You will be better off going to the urgent care center or walkin medical clinic less than you a block away

Doctors and staff are *corrupt, unprofessional, liars. They don't care about the patients. The inpatient Psych ward is nothing but a prison/warehouse for mentally ill people where they are overly medicated ($$) and provoked to anger and hostility due to uncaring and unskilled staff. And then as a result of being provoked, they receive more medication. Needles/Injections (IMs). The amount of young adults walking around on the unit like zombies was truly heartbreaking. 😔 The patients receive no good services and have no beneficial groups. The staff really do not care. They are only there for a check. I've actually witnessed people's mental health seriously decline while being there. This place is no place where mentally ill people get better and it is oppressive and really *intentionally run like a prison (a staff member bragged about running the place like a prison). Being in there was the worst and most traumatic experience of my life. I still have not recovered. On top of that, I'm left with a bunch of lies in "My Chart".

Blood all over bathroom walls, terrible responses in any attempt at receiving the status of my friend who was a patient there after a seizure— the cops were rude, uncouth and acted in a demeanor which suggested a power-trip (as cops often do), prevented me from getting to my friend in his unit despite getting the “ok” from the desk person. Doctor was very nice and responsive, several nurses were as well, however, none of this compensates for how poorly things are running here. Also, unsanitary and suspicious conditions when collecting blood for tests (less sanitary than a professional tattoo station). Excuse my lack of proper language, as this hospital has exhausted me into a delirium, so I am less than adequate to explain in full.

Service at this emergency room is very poor. I went there for pelvic and stomach pain nothing was done except for blood work and urine samples. That was done on a Thursday. Pluse they gave me IV fluid and morfine for the stomach pain. That didn't help at all. I didn't even see a doctor for the utltrasound that they was supposed to give me. They took so long by then i was ready to go home. It was 5:17pm when they gave me my discharge papers. When I went again on Saturday the service was still slow. I went for the same problem. People want to get in and out not sit there for hours at a time.

I took my mother to the ER today I was so pleased with the treatment! The nurses and Doctors are so kind. My only issue is with procedures and communication . I witness a young woman come through the ER and her family remained in the waiting area. My mother was discharged about 3 1/2 hours later with great care, when we left the ER I saw the people who came in with the young woman and asked if she was okay. The young woman told me she was concerned because during all those hours they did not hear anything ! I believe that there needs to be a better way of communicating with love ones. If I wasn’t permitted to accompany my mom I would be losing my mind if I did not know what was happening. I know that due to Covid policy can change but that does not mean that we forget to show compassion.

My daughter was having anxiety and panic attacks and she was taken to this hospital. She had the most traumatizing experience .They took all her belongings and locked them up. She was not seeing or checked by a doctor for about 8 hrs, and they medicated her with antipsychotic medication (without being checked by a doctor)2 times and told her it was for her anxiety, which was a lie, and ended up having more panic attacks, due to the administration of the wrong medication. Then they said she needed to stay overnight for observation, she called me crying that she was very scared. My daughter is traumatized for life now. Do not go this hospital ! They should be shut down immediately!

Because I haven't received a bill, I do not have the information to pay this conventionally. NYC Woodhull, can you please actually send the bill, do your job and stop harassing me? Came to the medical center after my ER visit to have my fractured nose fixed. They told me that as long as I had the procedure done within 2 weeks of the incident everything would be fine and they’d quickly knock me out and snap my nose back in place. Today I come to my appointment only for them to tell me my nose already started healing and they had to break it again to put it back into place even though they told me it would be an easy fix. Told me it would be one simple pop back into place, yeah right. If you want to be treated with respect and feel like you’re safe in the hands of the staff, go elsewhere. Don’t know how this place is even allowed to operate.

I will caveat this by saying I know how strained the medical system is during COVID. However, I waited over 3 hours to get my vaccine. The staff were also clearly all irritated and that made the experience way worse. I asked what # my place was in line and a member of the staff very rudely responded they can’t check everyone’s status even though 30 people went ahead of me who had later numbers. The nurses who actually administered the vaccine were SO nice and professional. I think if there was better signage and systems, this would take 1 hour instead of 3.5.

I went to Woodhull ER for care. I can say I was seen & treated in a timely manner and provided with appropriate care. It’s not the ideal environment given it’s a city hospital providing care for people most at risk mental health etc. There are levels of staff clinical/non clinical that are strained when interacting with patients that can be interpreted as lack of empathy understanding and my interaction was similar. It felt like an assembly line as you go from triage to a NP. Body language and gestures speaks volumes and you’ll get plenty of that during your visit. It’s highly unlikely that I’d recommend or visit this facility in the future and will seek alternative care where I feel like a patient not a problem.

The woman answering the phone at BLOCK 8100 on this date 6/2/23 - From 12-1PM today has been incredibly rude, unhelpful and disrespectful to the fact that she is speaking with a patient who needs medical attention and questions answered from her DOCTOR that she saw there. She has hung the phone up several times, left me on hold for 25 minutes initially which is a CLEAR INDICATOR THIS WOMAN REFUSES TO DO HER JOB. I would like HR to look into this woman's behavior. I have YET to actually get in touch with my doctor. CRAZY, RIGHT?! A Hospital? Where I can't get in touch with my doctor? I want a representative from Woodhull to contact me so I can discuss how I can actually continue receiving the care I thought I would be getting. I would like an investigation made on my behalf so any people PREVENTING patients from receiving proper care be terminated. Wake up Mr.administrator don't depend on Ambulance technician, have physician confitm the evaluation.

This is the worst hospital ever if you're having a baby. I can understand why women die while giving birth at this hospital. My experience was a nightmare. The anesthesiologist was so insensitive and mean. The nurses were mean and had bad attitudes. Birth is a very sensitive matter and it takes understanding people to do the job. I would never go back there, I'd rather give birth at home.

There I gave birth to my baby by cesarean section. The day they were going to discharge me, they did not inform me that I had to do some paperwork to be able to return home, they left me there from morning until night. No one helped me fill out the baby declaration either, I had to fill out everything as best I could, full of bad things because I didn't know what to put. They wanted me to quickly recognize my things because the worker had to clean the room for the other person they were going to bring there. They're supposed to wait for me to leave the room. I was alone picking and I had a wound plus a baby. There was no one to help me out to the parking lot, I couldn't walk well due to the operation, no one showed up to help me, I had to walk as best I could. In the end they didn't give me milk for the baby because according to them it was prohibited. They only gave me two milks a day, no more. The first hospital I see that does those things.

Went for emergency care for an infected tooth and it was a visibly bad infection. The admittance staff were awful - very rude condescending not a great front desk reception however the nurses and care I got after that was fantastic. Update: I've been trying to call dental clinic about swelling for days. No one answers the phone nor can you leave messages. It's insane how does a clinic run like this?? I reduced my rating based on this - unbelievable

I’ve had different experiences at this hospital. What i don’t like is if you go to the emergency room expect to be there for majority of the day. Appointments don’t ever follow through with their designated times. I had to talk to the Urologist at 1pm and left at 4pm for a few minute talk about my test results.

Worst emergency room experience ever. They just left me in the hallway for hours. Don’t recommend coming here

If you are looking for a good and fast place to get a COVID test this is it!!! I came on a Friday afternoon, and was basically the last one there (weekdays they are only open til 3:30 and start turning people away around 3:20). The waiting room was completely full when I arrived but my information was taken promptly and in under an hour I had gotten both the covid and antibody tests. And by the end of the next day, Saturday night, I had access to my results using their online portal. When I went to an urgent care for the same test, it took them over two weeks to get it back to me!! I plan on going back to this hospital and getting tested regularly and would recommend anyone in the area to get theirs done here too!

I’ve only visited a few times recently, and everyone I met with is super nice, kind, and took really great care of me. When I came back for revisit, I ran into the nurse lady who scanned me the first time, and she greeted me so warmly and wished me best of luck. Even writing this down I feel like crying 😭. Thank you to every medical worker at Woodhull for working doubly hard during this pandemic and saving our lives. You’ve done so much and are still working hard, yet you still are so kind and warm to us. ❤️ Best wishes to all of you! 🙏🙏❤️

Horrible! no help & the longest wait ever. I called to make an appointment about Nexplanon removal, my Nexplanon was placed in the wrong area in a different clinic. i called wood hull hospital for second thoughts. the assistance that pick up the call had no idea what i was talking about. she asked me several times how to spell, when i’m waiting for an answer she’s googling it. she reads to me what she’s reading then she tells me to come at 10am. I come in at 10am i waited an whole hour & 30 minutes to be called. I see the gyn Kim I tell her what exactly happened. she kept asking me if i’m sure it’s in there, she kept asking i answered yes it’s there i felt worried & emotional she just told me nothing. i had to show her prove. unfortunately she was searching for it on my arm,she doesn’t find it, then she sent me to the x ray room (no results i have to wait a couple of days) & then they sent me home! like i literally wasted my entire morning i got out like at 12. i got nothing done no removal no results no communication skills 👎🏼 it’s still in my arm.

Went in today for a fractured foot and the PA’s were horribly unprofessional they judged me since the beginning acting like two young kids talking about if it was even serious and how they gotta hear my sob story and who was gonna take care of me after 5 mins of laughing and making me feel uncomfortable the young woman finally saw me I’ll never forget how horrible I felt in the trauma unit woodhull hospital needs to do better when hiring PA students . I’m even sorry for giving this hospital a undeserving one star no one should feel the way I did in a place you go into for help.

I don't get the hate. I went for my first Covid shot and everyone there was not only helpful but friendly. The nurse that gave me the shot did it flawlessly, I wish I remembered her name so I could recommend her. Overall a easy and seamless experience, and I'm a person that fears hospitals. Great staff, clean facilty, good care.

Did walk THREE TIMES, as instructed to come before 7AM each time but was not able to be seen because they always take limited number of walk in. I remain in pain and they don’t care. DONT COME HERE IF YOURE IN SERIOUS PAIN. The security guard in the front was rude and confusing. WORSE HOSPITAL EVER. Never coming back here

Its the incompetent woman behind the desk in the ultrasound department. She lost my insurance card, and proceeded to blame me for it. Then months later after continuously coming to my ultrasound appointments for six months, she thought it was a genius idea to ask for my insurance card again… I told her no and the last time I gave it to her she lost it. She had to call the insurance company to send a replacement. I don’t know what kind of insurance scam she’s trying to run but no thank you. Don’t know why they can’t hire people that have brains. There was a younger man here for some time and he was great.. he just took your name and let you sit down as you waited to be called to the back. She decided to also ask if I had covid symptoms when they literally ask all that basic stuff at the entry point in the hospital. For an old woman she acts very oblivious to simple things. Don’t know if she’s just a receptionist or if she has schooling. I truly doubt she has any schooling. Probably working with a GED. Definitely nothing beyond high school.

I missed my Appointment, wasn't the hospital fault, The Cab service transporting me to the hospital picked me up 45min after my Appointment time.. The Receptionist in the hospital & the Nurse tried to accommodate my Needs best as Possible..

I grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant and know the bad reputation Woodhull had when I was growing up. Was not considered a hospital you wanted to be sick in. But just had a great experience with a relative who went there for an emergency and was shocked at what good care they received! From the doctors to the nurses, they were incredibly professional and caring. They explained the medical terms and left us confident that our family was in great hands!

New to New York... Everything about my vist was wonderful today. I had a 2.5 wait total, including waiting at the pharmacy.. Everyone from begining to end was very sweet and helpful.. The Fast Track Doctors & Nurse's went above & Beyond... Take a Bow 👌... This is how a Hospital should be. Thank You all.

In 2010 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at woodhall hospital and i had a wonderful experience . The facility and the labor staff was amazing. I love the private room with my own bathroom . Who knew 10 years later I would be back. My time at woodhall was so mamerible that in 2020 when it was time for me to give birth to my little man I couldn't think of any other hospital i wanted to go. During my pregnancy I found out I was diabetic and was given a diabetic GYN doctor. The best doctor I ever met doctor Jessica Lyn. She was amazing , encouraging and caring. The hold maternity staff from sono nurses, gyn doctors ,to deliver was phenomenal. 👍👍👍👍❤

Booking appointments is an absolute hellscape. You’ll be on hold for twenty minutes, then you get a someone who can’t actually book appointments for you so they transfer you and you’ll be on hold again for an hour, then you’ll get the machine. Abysmal. Really sad the low level of care that’s designated for folks without great insurance. (Not me my roommate who is elderly and has been attending woodhull for years)

It is ok. You get there knowing hours will pass till you get done with visit. Expect everyone with a serious face. What else ...one time I fell asleep and the nurse asked me "Detox?" I was like what i was so young and didn't even know what detox meant😂

Cut myself pretty badly on a finger that required stitches. Went to the ER and everything went really smooth considering in your head you are sort of freaking out. Staff was all professional and my trauma doc was great. Stitched up and healing well. While I hope I won't be back if you've jacked yourself up you'll be in good hands.

Woodhull staff continues to work diligently for the patients, community and staff! The ER is commended for their continuous efforts to expedite and improve the patient's experience. Patient satisfaction is Woodhull's priority. The continued efforts are evident and respected by the community and many others. Great job Woodhull!

One of the worst most terrifying hospital experiences of my life. My partner FALSELY made a 911 call and told the operator I was a threat to myself (I wasn't). I didn't know this and was forcibly taken away in an ambulance (my partner did this because we had been fighting and he wanted to unlawfully kick me out of our home). Distraught and confused, I kept telling them at the hospital that I just wanted to go home I was fine. They threw me in the non-emergency psych ward where I WAS LOCKED IN with a variety of characters some of them scary. The staff was incredibly nasty and rude to the patients in this ward, including me. The doctor was super insulting and condescending when I finally got to see her and again I still didn't know what was going on as I didn't hear my partner make the 911 call and had no idea that emergency services was told I was a threat to my own life. I kept telling the doctor "I was arguing with my partner, he was trying to kick me out." She rolled her eyes and said "who's your emergency contact? Your brother? Go back out to the common room and I'll call him to get the real story." WOODHULL COLLABORATED IN A FALSE USE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES AND AIDED A DOMESTIC ABUSER BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T LISTEN TO THE ACTUAL PATIENT BECAUSE I WAS DISTRAUGHT. I am terrified of hospitals now and am very unlikely to ever ask medical staff for help ever again especially in a domestic dispute. If an ambulance ever comes for me again, I'm running.

Absolutely traumatizing. Was taken in an ambulance, told I would get a check up. Once I was in the violent emergency room i was told I could not leave, despite me telling them the environment was actively hurting my mental health. Police and staff laughed at the patients with mental out breaks. Was kept overnight and not even treated for lack of sleep which is why I went there. The staff is extremely hostile, raises their voice at patients for asking questions. The staff treat you like a criminal and not a patient. They have no idea how to work with their patient population. They actively invalidate and aggravate their patients. There were people there detoxing asking staff for help and ignored. There were times when we would ask for water from staff and would be ignored. Went there for my mental health ended up even more traumatized and with ptsd for that horrible envoirnment.

Was taken there by ambulance. waited almost an entire day to be helped. Couldn’t breathe at all. It was unbearable. They couldn’t detect what was wrong and sent me home. No one showed any signs they cared about a single person there. I had to do a zoom meeting with a doctor soon as I got home to get medication. Took a few days but that was such a scary time for me. Thought I was going to die.
