👍👍 I was the photographer at a recent wedding there and it was such an amazing experience. They accommodated me and my team as if we were also guests at this wedding. Which resulted in fantastic photographs and coverage of everything I needed for the couple. Atmosphere is great, drinks were great, food... I was the photographer at a recent wedding there and it was such an amazing experience. They accommodated me and my team as if we were also guests at this wedding. Which resulted in fantastic photographs and coverage of everything I needed for the couple. Atmosphere is great, drinks were great, food was delicious and not overwhelming. Staff were super friendly to me and my team and made sure we were fed tons of appetizers to get us through the night. 10/10 coming back to buy some books and drink some coffee here next time I'm in town! Cheers from Chicago!

This place is a fantastic bookstore! 📚 Housing Works Bookstore has a large selection of book 📖 across two floors! It's great to walk around and explore the bookshelves. 📘 This spot also has a coffee ☕ shop inside! Ambience 🎶 is fantastic and the staff is very welcoming and nice! I wish I came here more often!

This is my Soho oasis. It really has everything. First 100% of the profits to to fund Housing Works lifesaving services. The staff is mostly volunteers, and are so warm and friendly. The space inside is huge! two stories of books, lots of very sturdy tables, great chairs. Not very many electrical outlets, so bring a well charged device. The selection of books is always extensive. The coffee is fresh and strong.

Such a great local independent bookstore that feels like home. Though used, the books are in really good condition and some are very much new. I think the prices are fair though if you want much cheaper used books, there are other places around. Also there is a cafe inside. I'd be a regular here if I lived in Manhattan. Highly recommend.

Large industrial feeling bookstore also moonlighting as a thrift shop. While mildly befuddled by the combination it provides an entertaining perusing experience. The shop offers a variety of different genres of books and will take you on a journey if you are open to it.

What a great little find in NYC. A quiet little nook in the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff are friendly, the books are in mint condition and the prices beat everything else. I love the "no electronics" policy, giving you a little break from all the cafes turned into work spaces. Here everyone is having just a drink, a book or both in hand.

Housing Works is part book store, café, and thrift store, carrying (donated) used books of all kinds, CDs, vinyls, clothing, and assorted home goods. They even have crystals, if that's your thing. The prices are reasonable, and you're sure to find some hidden gems. The café in the back has plenty of seating, and the space itself is two floors high, so very spacious and comfortable on a hot day. The volunteer staff are friendly and helpful. Proceeds go towards Housing Works' services that help low-income New Yorkers.

Loved this space! A great selection of used books (most were in excellent condition) with a cafe and a small thrift store upstairs. It’s a huge bonus that it’s a non-profit with proceeds going to a good cause. They also have movie nights! Definitely worth a stroll inside if you are in the neighborhood. Walked out with a couple of good books and a latte.

Our wedding was always going to be unconventional and Housing Works was the absolute perfect venue for what we wanted. We had about 135 attendees (invited 160) and did a cocktail style dinner. Tomasz was extremely accommodating to our many requests, flexible to our needs and responsive throughout the process. The staff was amazing -- you truly can't beat the location, service or ambiance for the venue price PLUS your venue fees go to a wonderful mission and cause.

Immediate yes. The coffee is great and the bookstore just has a great vibe. Cool art on the walls. Great place for unique souvenirs or a special new book.

As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the smell of exquisite coffee, surrounded by artifacts and incredible books. There is even a thrifty surprise up one flight of stairs! I was especially surprised to see this was a nonprofit establishment that was advocating for the H.I.V community! What an amazing place🙌🙌

The place looks beautiful and the staff is nice. The coffee was okay. On the second floor there was a selection of clothes you can purchase. For me this place was fun to visit but I doubt I will go there again. They had an old vinyl collection and some crystal available which was probably my favorite part.

Great book selection and nice vibes BUT their sale signs are very misleading/incorrect. This sign was outside the store today and when I went to checkout the guy said “oh that doesn’t start today” and wouldn’t honor it and seemed very confused. Please either put the correct sale dates or actually honor the sale signs 🙃. The sign was the whole reason I came in the store. Very frustrating and they didn’t have any answer when I asked about why it was out there with out a date.

I would definitely consider this space fod my own wedding. Its bot only a book store. We are a Hollywood Smile Photo Booth rentals and we have a wedding celebration here tonight. I'm in love with this space. Photo Booth is a great addition to the party.

Lovely place to drop by. Very chill ambience and the employees are super friendly. There's a café inside - they also host some events there. While the books are sorted by topic, they do not have an up-to-date catalogue so won't be able to tell you if something specific is in stock. The books are super reasonably priced and sole are in great condition. They accept cash and plastic.

Surprised to find this kind of place in Soho. Extremely cozy and friendly environment with a fun selection of books and records. I haven't been there yet for an event but based on the space I would imagine it be spectacular

I love this bookstore. It feels like one of the old ones that have been all over NYC just a decade ago. It really invites to grab a book, get one of their great coffees and sit down for a while.

I have a soft spot for bookstore cafés and this is one of the better ones. On a quiet side street I feel like it's one of my "secret"spots in NYC. I always spend a couple hours perusing and having coffee. The atmosphere is so chill.

Very nice place and location. It is a walking distance from subway station. Nice coffe place to get together or to review books. The only bad point is to the lack of free wifi for guests.

It's kind of a library, and you can read all kinds of books and have all types of genres available. All age groups. It feels like I am in a Harry Potter's Library. It has its own cafe and is reserved only for readers it's a heaven for the book readers

This is a warm place for book readers. The interior is wooden, the store has a perfect sized cafe to read your books while sipping coffee and muffin. The books span genres from history, biography, science to cookbooks, DVDs, cds etc. Everything is reasonably priced starting from $4 for a book. Their book collection has dwindled after the pandemic but I believe it is a place worth a visit.

Cannot stress how much I love this place!!! So many secondhand books everywhere, super cozy yet surprisingly large inside. Has some secondhand clothing as well & some homewares, not as big selection as other Housing Works locations but it’s a bookstore so obviously they prioritize space for books. Coffee is great and staff is really nice. I appreciate the no laptop policy at their tables, makes the space feel much more human and intimate as opposed to people sitting on their laptops taking up a table for 5 hours. Can’t wait to visit again!
