Monday
night
I
fractured
three
bones
in
my
ankle
and
was
brought
to
Clara
Maass
Medical
Centerās
ER.
I
was
brought
in
on
a
stretcher
by
the
EMTs
and
we
were
being
sent
to
different
locations
for
a
specific
ER.
We
then
were
finally
led
to
the
correct
spot
and
I
got
placed
in
a
room.
While
I
was
able
to
get
X-rays
quickly,
at
no
point
was
I
given
pain
medication.
Two
doctors
came
into
my
room
to
ask
how
my
pain
level
was
and
to
inform
me
of
my
fractures
and
I
clearly
stated
10
because
the
pain
was
awful
and
they
never
gave
me
anything.
The
one
doctor
then
said
I
would
need
surgery
and
would
have
to
wait
to
be
admitted
into
the
hospital
and
be
given
a
room
which
would
be
about
1-2
hours.
He
never
explained
the
surgery
or
why
Iād
need
it
and
again
I
was
not
offered
pain
medication.
My
assumption,
as
Iāve
never
had
surgery
before,
was
maybe
I
wasnāt
allowed
any
because
I
would
be
getting
surgery
the
next
day.
This
was
all
before
12am.
Fast
forward
several
hours
and
I
was
still
in
the
ER
by
the
next
morning.
I
was
not
informed
that
they
would
need
to
wait
for
a
room
to
be
available
until
we
asked
at
2am
why
it
had
been
longer
than
2
hours
and
the
RN
said
they
have
no
available
rooms.
In
addition
to
no
pain
medication
and
being
lied
to
about
the
room
situation,
I
was
not
offered
breakfast
and
I
was
unaware
that
my
surgery
would
not
be
until
5pm
so
at
this
point
I
had
not
had
food
for
24
hours.
I
finally
get
transferred
to
a
room
at
10am
on
Tuesday
where
my
nurse
Katie
was
incredibly
helpful
and
I
finally
receive
pain
medication.
Because
my
surgery
was
for
5pm,
I
still
had
no
food
in
my
system.
Fast
forward
to
5pm,
I
start
getting
transferred
to
the
OR
and
they
get
a
call
that
my
surgeon
wonāt
be
there
until
8:30/9pm.
While
my
surgeon
was
kind
when
I
finally
met
her
and
explained
what
the
surgery
was
10minutes
before
the
surgery,
I
didnāt
appreciate
finding
out
so
late
that
the
time
would
be
changing
as
again
I
was
unable
to
eat
(I
didnāt
get
to
eat
until
the
following
morning
on
Wednesday
but
I
wasnāt
asked
what
I
wanted
so
they
gave
me
food
I
couldnāt
eat
due
to
dietary
restrictions).
While
I
am
glad
that
I
was
able
to
get
in
for
a
surgery
quick
enough
for
my
ankle
injury,
these
other
issues
would
prevent
me
from
going
to
this
hospital
again.
