I am Japanese and this store is genuine Japanese store and all restaurants was also genuine Japanese foods! This place is like Disney Land for Us, So much fun and enjoyable! Since 6 hours away from my house, I can’t really go there often but Hopefully I can visit again soon. They have real sushi, real fresh seafood and everything from Japan. They even have cosmetics store from genuine Japanese brands. You will be all day long to enjoy. They have genuine Japanese book store as well and you can buy manga or book in Japanese. If you like Japanese Anime There is One Piece card place as well. We called “ Gacha-Gacha” ( in Japan) machines at front of area, insert coins and get key chains. From my experience, make sure arrive before at 10am, parking a lot will super quick to get full and once get full It is hard to find open spot! Especially on Weekends…. You will waste your time for hours and hours at parking a lot! We visited so far 3 times and More than 100% sure you need arrive before at 10am!

First time visiting and I loved it. The sashimi was fresh and I love that they give out free bags of ice. The food court was also very yummy, I got spam and oyster rice balls and they were delicious.

One of the best Japanese supermarket around. They have plenty selections of high quality Japanese goods. Shopping here itself is satisfying. Hot and cold ready to eat foods are available. There are also bathrooms and a food court with many dining table and seats.

One of my favorite places to visit because full of happy memories… I love it there. Due to pandemic they removed one of the two food courts, replaced by a cute kids arcade. Food, especially produce it’s expensive, but of excellent quality. Only they do not put any effort on shelving, nor replace old things such as rusted shopping carts… Please, have Mitsuwa back on track! We love it there!

Great place to eat Japanese cuisine. It was a bit crowded and busy but worth the wait. So many things to choose from in the market. Excellent place to find delicious snacks. Will definitely return again soon for lunch on my next visit to the area.

Great selection of Japanese items, from produce, meats, sake, non alcoholic drinks, to ready made sushi. Also has a great selection of dining options within the market, Ramen noodles, rice platters, boba teas… friendly service all around…but a little pricey..

I don't live in New Jersey so coming to Mitsuwa always feels like a mini day trip vacation. This place never fails to surprise me with products I've never seen before and the variety of foods is always amazing. I can satisfy all of my cravings here and still bring a ton back home to slowly enjoy. They have fresh produce, so many varieties of drinks, rice, teas, sakes, breads, ramen, snacks etc etc! The list goes on and on. I always walk out of there happy and already wishing I'll be going back again soon!

Greatest Japanese market in the East Coast. It's clean, spacious, full of Japanese items, from frozen meat, fresh vegetables to ramen and baking goods. There are Japanese plum wines and kenzo sparkling from Napa Valley. Great fun with friends or come with family members, Always enjoyed the shopping, quick snack or dinner and a cone of ice cream with mont blanc topping!

Great selection of Japanese products. My wife and I enjoy shopping at Mitsuwa all the time. Their bakery has a good selection of desserts and pastries. My wife also loves the claw machines.

Really awesome favorite place to go and get great food and snacks! Really busy on Saturdays and Sundays so bring a jacket cause sometimes the line wraps around the building. Also you cannot but electronics on Sunday & you can't purchase alcohol before 1pm on Sunday. Getting their early means smaller lines so I always recommend that and apparent weekdays aren't super busy either. ☆ pro-tip recommend bring a cooler in your car for cold stuff since there's also really cool stores you can go to near by. They even have small stores inside as well as to-go food ♡

This is the 1st time I came and I was amazed. This is the biggest Japanese supermarket I have seen in the area. The parking lot is big and parking is free. It has restaurants, variety of groceries, a donut store, an ice cream store and Japanese medicines etc. I love the sesame ice cream I ordered.

Line to get in due to limited occupancy. Not much of a problem if patient. There is a designated place to eat your food inside and many places to eat your food outside as well if the sit down is full. The view is spectacular, New York is amazing across the river. Definitely had a blast this visit and am expecting to go back in the near future. Definitely bring cash as well as card; Just to cover your bases.

Go around 7:45 and the sushi will be market down. You can sometimes get some really good sushi like scallop and uni. The bakery have some really good chocolate muffin as well. Very addicting. Edit: 2nd time around, they have a festival, got the crab chirashi. Not bad but a bit of shell in some places. Probably would go for the sushi in the fridge next time

Fave pass time activity. Awesome food court and awesome sashimi grade fish in the market. They have a huge variety of snacks and sake and other Japanese liquors. Literally everything you could want under one building. A supermarket and good eats.

If you are looking for authentic Japanese goods and food ingredients, this is the place in Noth Jersey. Its way of arranging hallways and displaying items is just like a Japanese supermarket in Japan. Also, it has many food corners where you can enjoy various Japanese snacks. The cafeteria is always busy. If you were lucked out to have a seat, you should not hear someone standing behind you waiting for your seat. I felt uneasy every time, but I stand behind someone else’s seat for my family. Gosh. When we visited this time, as we do annually, however, my wife complained that those who work in the cafeteria are not Japanese. Hopefully, the cooks are Japanese. The quality of the foods were worse than last time. I can not help but come here every year, but my expectation and satisfaction are lessened every year.

What can I say about Mitsuwa Marketplace... if you're looking for delicious authentic Japanese cuisine and sweets, look no further, all reasonably priced and huge selection from many vendors, there's a whole market to shop from as well & novelty stores that sell everything from Manga, anime, toy's, etc. The only complaint was the market closed at 9 pm, but all other vendors closed at 8 pm, even on a Saturday night. So my advice is to plan ahead. You can easily spend 3+ hours exploring all the shops and vendors.

First time trying the food court at Mitsuwa and it was crazy packed inside. We ordered from different stands; single portion of the fried dumplings and fried rice, 2 potato and mozzarella cheese corn dogs, and 2 Nikutamaten Udon. The dumplings and fried rice came out to $10.65, it was a decent sized portion, good but nothing special. We also went to a stand named Kaneda and got the udon and corn dogs. The cheese in the corn dogs were not melted, size was small, and it was cold, did not like the taste at all. The udon soup on the other hand had very flavorful broth and a good portion of noodles inside. The beef was tender and had great flavor tasted a bit sweet; they also topped it with a soft-boiled egg which added an extra umph. Ordering is fast and easy, and they call out your number when your food is ready. Luckily, we were able to find seating fast on a Saturday afternoon. There was also a lady there to pick up your trays when you are done which is super helpful. If you ever want a quick bite to eat this is the place to go. The supermarket itself is also very nice and organized. They also had little stands to taste the different items they have for sale, love that! Parking was crazy, spun around for like 15 minutes but finally was able to find a spot.

This is an all japanese supermarket and food court plaza. Personally feel it is a bit over rated. Ate at the sushi chirashi spot and the fish portion was very little. And wasnt good. Also had some ramen which was ok. The noodles were freshly made and tasted great. Portion and price is good at about $15. But the overall soup was just ok at best and all fat in the pork slice of meat they give you. My friend had the japanese curry and said the curry was cold. The supermarket area seems over priced. Not worth driving from NYC for this .

We drove all the way to NJ to enjoy Japanese goods here, and everything here is really amazing! If you love Japanese food, snacks, and drinks this is the place to go! One side of the marketplace is a supermarket with lots of stuff you can buy and the other side there’s small shops that sell different foods. I haven’t been here in a while, the last time I visited was a few years ago and I noticed they also added a little area where you can play claw games, which was super fun sadly I only won 1 small prize and spent about $10-$15 lol. I also want to mention there’s other Japanese shops next to the mitsuwa such as the Kinokuniya and Little Japan (which I’ll write separate reviews for). Anyways if you decide to visit you’ll definitely have a great time!

A different experience... Many varieties of Japanese goods not usually found in most of the other Asian grocery stores I go to. Loved the vibe. There were numerous eateries serving different types of Japanese food including tempura bowls, poke bowls, Japanese ramen, sushi, chirashi, kaisendon, Japanese desserts and so on..The grocery store part is what I loved the most. The place was kinda crowded , maybe because I went there on a Sunday. However I found the prices higher than that in my usual Asian grocery stores.

  • 4/5 Midgie H. 1 year ago on Google
Great store, even greater food court! Many more and better food court options than in the Mitsuwas in California. Prices are a little crazy for some things but there are deals if you look for them. This is still the only place in the tri-state area where I can get my favorite high-end Japanese rice. Always great service. Very clean store. Go on a weekday to avoid parking lot congestion.

I only had time to visit the supermarket itself, not the food court, but I was pleasantly surprised how large the place is! The supermarket is very clean and well organized. The aisles are clearly marked with names of items they contain and some products with a large variety such as rice, tea and soy sauce have additional boards with explanatory information, which I found very handy! You'll find anything you want in here - fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen food, packaged food, ready made food, meats including wagyu beef, drinks, alcohol, sake, cosmetics, snacks and even an inhouse bakery, but what I loved and appreciated most was the fresh seafood & fish section with ready made sushi pieces! Inside the supermarket I encounter several places offering to taste food, which is a great way of advertising! Since most of the items are imported, it's not a cheap place to shop, definitely not suited for regular food shopping, but a great place to get some exotic items and experiment with Japanese cuisine. Visited in May 2023. Paid by card.

Came to Mitsuwa Marketplace on the recommendation of a good friend and I’m so glad we did! They have an incredibly well stocked market with tons of Asian specialty items, and a great selection of imported alcohol as well. The various food vendors provide an assortment of quality options, of which we had the ramen, onigiri and chicken Katsu, all of which were delicious. We forgot to bring cash though and missed out on the taiyaki and desserts, but just another excuse to come back!

Authentic Japanese marketplace has lots of fresh, prepared, packaged imported Japanese groceries and more. There are lots of Japanese eateries in the plaza such as bakery, cafe, desert shop, different type of Japanese food restaurants and shops. Seating area and bathroom available. It can be a challenge to find a parking spot during weekends and holidays. The Supermarket is a bit pricy. Also need to be patient if you order food from any of eatery in the plaza. Enjoy your visit.

He loves seafood so this was the perfect place to stop and grab everything. Looks just like the market in Japan. Had everything we needed. Beautiful selection of roe and cuts of fish. Well organized. Most makeup was reasonably priced but there were some kids items that seemed a bit over priced but most things were at a regular or even cheap price point. High quality Wagyu cuts that they really enjoyed.

A fun, small japanese supermarket with loads of authentic items you can't find elsewhere. The attached food court has tons of options that all look fantastic. Prices are all very understandable for what they offer and everything was very clean.

This market place would be one of my go to for Asian food brands.. great variety and a food court.. some stuff are overpriced but it’s a nice place to check out. Santouka ramen was delicious! Good ramen 🍜

  • 5/5 Chi C. 3 years ago on Google
Calling this place a high-end Asian market does not do it justice. It has all of your grocery need plus Japanese household goods. Also there is a large selection of sushi and got food that can normally be consumed in the food court, but it's closed during coronavirus, so take out only for now. Ample parking it could get crowded inside on the weekends, but their efficient cashiers keep the wait time manageable.

  • 4/5 Judy L. 3 years ago on Google
Mitsuwa Markeplace and Food Court is a great place for authentic Japanese food and for Japanese groceries. There's no indoor dining during COVID-19. Food is prepared only to take-out and, lines can be long at the popular food stands. If you plan to spend a day at Mitsuwa, there are no public restrooms once you leave the marletplace/food court otherwise, you will have to get back on line to enter the Marketplace again.

A bit of a long line a few days before New Years, but, I expected that and went on the early side. I'm glad they were monitoring how many people were allowed inside as it was busy enough and I felt people were respectful trying to maintain distance while also wearing masks. As usual I bought more than I needed. I even dropped an unplanned load of money for fancy wagashi from Minamoto Kitchoan (concession inside). Way more than I've ever spent on mochi sweets, but, now I know what I've been missing and it was great! I also had a nice tonkatsu lunch from one of the food stands. I love Mitsuwa and wish there was one in Manhattan cuz it's a pain for me to get to Edgewater.

Mitsuwa has long provided Japanese food products for our family to enjoy. They have high turnover on their goods, so their stuff Japanese products are pretty fresh compared to other asian food markets. Great store.

I love this place. There is a food court area with a variety of restaurants, pastries, ice cream, etc. You can easily spend hours here pre-covid, but now they closed off most of the indoor seating. They only opened a row of tables by the window and you need to wait to be seated. They also limit the amount of people inside so you might need to wait in line outside. There are a couple of stone tables and seats right outside near the bathroom exit. My favorite places are the taiyaki place (beware of the long wait time), the tempura restaurant, and the rice ball place (sadly it was closed when we were there a couple of days ago). You can also buy prepared cooked food and sushi in the market area. Do look around the market and try something new.
