Bartender was so rude and made us feel like he was doing us a favor serving us, we waited for over an hour for our song and were not given microphones when our song went on. Someone else sang it. They won’t give you microphones, it’s basically on you to go and search through the crowd who has the mic. Like really, shouldn’t it be the staff’s priority to make sure guests get a chance to sing their songs at a karaoke bar? Bartenders continuously give you an attitude for asking when your song is going to go on, like they are bothered by you. At the end of the day we were charged for 5 songs that we ordered and only got a chance to sing one of them. Also, the sound system is so weak that the crowd easily overpowers it. Basically ruined our night.

We used to LOVE going to winnie’s, but there is a bartender now that was SO RUDE. Like rolling eyes at our orders, making fun out of people singing, asking for tips on the mic - really made such a great place feel excludent and with weird vibes. Where is the Brazilian bartender? Not coming back, no way we’ll be going to a place to be mistreated.

No other word than terrible can describe my experience at Winnie’s; not because of the venue but solely because of the bar staff. I have never met such egotistical, arrogant, judgemental people in my life. Picture having to listen to rap music because the bartender and security guard think they’re ‘too cool’ to let paying patrons sing karaoke at A KARAOKE BAR?? Winnie, jokes on you if you think your business will survive with these rats running the bar. If you dare to visit, you definitely won’t sing karaoke, and if god forbid you happen to get some mic time, you’ll be mocked, and wish you hadn’t. Good luck!

This small spot has so much potential but that rude bartender really kills any of that chance happening. Black guy in a wife beater treated us with disrespect and put us in the spotlight when it was our first time there and we didn’t know how the mics worked since it barely has any sound to it. Fair to say this guy’s holding back this bar, blonde girl is chill and friendly and definitely picks up the slack around there.

Fun karaoke spot with friends. There’s a minimum of 2 drinks to sing and I think $1 per song for tips. The security guy was a bit rude but it’s his job to check so it’s whatever. I was holding my bag for him to check, he yanked at my bag for me to let go instead of just verbally telling me to let go… like okay…. Our group was able to secure a booth for all 10 of us to sit, so that was fun. The bar was crowded and got even more crowded past midnight. We ordered Tequila shots, jager bombs, fruity drinks. We put some song requests on and sang. At times, our songs got stolen by other people and can get a little rowdy. It was a fun experience none the less.

Not big on reviews but the bartender destroyed my experience to the point I feel others should be warned. Dude was mean, passive aggressive, disrespectful and tried to humiliate multiple people. His attitude and bad vibes permeate the space and you can feel it when you walk in. I thought he was having an off night, or in a bad mood but when I saw other reviews it validated my negative experience. Apparently he’s always an AH. Almost forgot to mention how weak their drinks are. I watched the guy put a quarter of a watered down shot into a short glass of mostly ice and soda. My friends and I ordered multiple drinks and remained stone cold sober. Not ideal for karaoke lol.

Really great neighborhood bar that has friendly and welcoming vibes. I don’t usually like to karaoke but I felt so comfortable here that I sang multiple songs. Bartenders were really fun and sang a few songs with us. Bring cash for the songs! But they do have an atm if you forget.

I really want to like this place since the owner is so nice but the way we were treated was not okay. They don’t have a bouncer checking ID’s so instead a bartender yells at you like they think you’re stupid until you realize they are calling you. Listen I live here and have for a very long time. I go to Chinatown a lot…no one has ever checked ID’s like that. Also the bartender that everyone else is mentioning in reviews is just mean. He treated us like children and spoke down to me like I was an idiot. I was being very nice, I was even bussing our table so he wouldn’t be mad and he still found something to reprimand me for. Half the time the mic didn’t work other times the same songs were just playing on repeat because no one was paying attention. I won’t be going back but I do understand the charm of the place. Oh ALSO the air con does not work I was so sweaty by the time we left.

Had my going away party here this past weekend and it was a blast! We were able to reserve the back patio for our group privately. Teddy and the team and Winnie’s were very accommodating the entire night. Guests were able to have separate tabs open, and could either go to the bar and order drinks or have table service. We had karaoke indoors for anyone who wanted to sing and a great space outside just to hangout. Definitely recommend checking out Winnie’s if you’re in the area! Great neighborhood vibes and quality hospitality.

Pretty much the old faithful for karaoke. You can get a bad crowd… but hey, get a couple beers deep and get on mic, you’ll forget about it. Tip them well.

Go here if you want to be harassed and bullied by the bartender in the tank top over the mic AFTER tipping. They will take your money and will ensure you don’t sing because they’re busy badgering you on the mic while your song is on. The entitlement is unbelievable.

Great karaoke bar. Bartender gentleman who typically wears trucker hat and tank top is very rude and unwelcoming to people, or on a power trip. Everyone else is very nice. Avoid him at all costs, though he runs the song queue…

Wow, so lucky to have stumbled across this place. Hidden between two non-descript looking businesses and ducked away on the second floor. Walk in, buy a beer, sign your name on the list to sing something, and enjoy the night (in that order). Around midnight, the bbq was ready to be served. The crowd and the bartenders were fun; we're going back.

A New York City staple on par with Katz or the Pyramid. New York City owned and uniquely a place only to be found in this city. Hosting the most eclectic clientele and NYC sensibilities. A fixture of my childhood, visit em and sing your heart out.

I've been itching to find a quirky bar with Chinese beer and karaoke streaming from a laptop running YouTube ever since the Golden Cicada served its final glass of maotai in 2019. Surprise, surprise—was Winnie's a revelation. My companion and I stopped by the small bar on a Saturday night at opening time (8:00pm), and we were the only patrons there for approximately an hour. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy some Tsingtao and soak in the ambiance. Things quickly became exciting as a large crowd quickly gathered and karaoke began in earnest. Set up shop and sing the night away with the helpful staff, covered terrace, and reasonable costs.

What a vibe! If you’re looking for a late night karaoke spot with charm and plenty to drink, this is your spot. It’s crowded on the weekends but what good spot isn’t? Come with a good group and you’re guaranteed a good time.

This is the best karaoke bar in New York City and it’s not even close. The bartenders are the best the music choices endless. This is my favorite bar of all of New York City. The vibes are always great. I’ve had so many wonderful memories here!! This place truly is very special to my heart. Love it !!!

Generous pours, takes a bit to queue your songs for karaoke but a good vibe to hang while waiting for songs

Karaoke spot. Had a blast. There's an outdoor/pateo area. Kinda cold in the winter but if it gets full and you're moving and singing you should be fine after a drink or two in. Bring singles to tip for song requests.

Very good selection of songs but not the best. There’s a few they don’t have because they rely on YouTube Karaoke. (A bit lazy). But the sound system is great and the staff are cool.

Love Winnie’s bar, as an East Asian I love karaoke bars and this one is a great one to go to. One of the only places open late night in Chinatown and the vibes are amazing, bring all your friends and have a great time, the outdoor area is a fun way to cool off.

Drinks were subpar but the karaoke 🎤 was okay. Interesting crowd. Definitely not a trendy go to place but with the right group of friends you can have fun.

I came here the other night with my boyfriend and we waited 30 minutes for a drink, and we were one of the few people there. One of the bartenders was going around bussing tables which is totally fine. I am a bartender working at an understaffed NYC bar too so I get it. But the lack of acknowledgement was very frustrating. We left with nothing.

i feel bad leaving this review on a chinatown bar as a chinese person but i work in the service industry so i also fully know how customer service and tipping works. sadly i had experience with a rude bartender last month (i was warned before even coming the bartenders could be rude by a friend who lives around the corner) so i took a photo of my receipt where i wrote very clearly my tip + total before i left. i recently checked my credit card and they charged me extra on the tip.. extremely sketchy and unprofessional

Tipped the guy .9 cents on a 13.1 drink to round out to 14.00 instead of the usual 1 dollar that I tip. Dude at the bar was super rude and didn't let me play me song that a put a 1 tip gratuity on. Ignored me for the longest time, then got my second round of drinks and when I pointed out that he picked up everyone's song requests but my own he said (rudely) "You only tipped me .90", Made me cry in the bathroom, he was that rude.

I would honestly say that this is one of the worst experiences my friends and I have had going to a bar in NYC. They start off by awkwardly demanding ids at the bar and giving attitude the minute you walk in. My friend went to get us a round of shots and the male bartender was accusing her of not tipping (she handed him $40 for the shots and $ for the song) he came back and said that he didn’t see tip money and that both transactions were separate. She ended up giving him $10 but automatically assumed that we weren’t going to tip ??? I then go up and ask for a cup of water he says it’s going to be $2. I questioned why he was charging for water and he gave extreme attitude and was basically ignoring me. I went and got $2 and he literally pocketed it and got a mason jar with luke warm tap water. I have never been to a bar that charges for a glass of tap water. Also, it took me maybe a solid 10 minutes of standing at the bar with him blatantly ignoring me to ask for the water (for context there were literally 3 people at the bar and it was not crowded at all). To top off the night as my friends song finally came on he made one of his little friends who was hanging out at the bar make an announcement to tip your bartenders?? As if we hadn’t already tipped them about $15 with everything and they were still rude af to us. We all immediately got up and left because of the absolute sour taste it left. Moral of the story this place sucks. Could see the potential if maybe they had decent humans working, some working air conditioning, and didn’t charge $2 for nyc tap water then pocket it? Maybe pick better bartenders who don’t suck. Come to Winnie’s if you want to have a horrible time! We ended up going to UpStairs Bar about 5 mins away and had the time of our lives and closed the bar down. They had food the drinks were bomb and not crazy expensive and the owners were awesome and didn’t treat you like a mf city rat like the bartenders at Winnie’s do. Maybe think before you go to Winnie’s.

Honestly, I came here because of all the reviews about the bartender/karaoke mgr and he did not disappoint, lol. He was FANTASTIC! His "attitude" was actually a part of the charm and matched the dive bar aesthetics. My cousins and I called him "The Legend." He's totally himself. If you act annoying he'll check you. And if you come in good spirit, he'll dap you up. That authentic behavior made the whole bar feel like a large group of old friends turning up! Too real, lol. Plus he and the security guy (we called him Bruce Lee, cause he had a Bruce Lee shirt on) can SANG and they didn't mind lending us background vocals. I mean they can SANG! We got there around 9p when it just opened and watched the spot fill up pretty quickly. So I'd suggest coming in early if you want to vibe with The Legend and Bruce Lee. Let The Legend run the show and do his thing (have fun with it. smile and don't argue. This ain't Chik Fil A). And you'll have a good night.

This isn’t actually a review I just left my jacket there tonight and nobody’s picking up the phone. Voicemail isn’t set up either so. It’s cranberry red hoodie material with a folded collar and fuzzy lining. Cropped. Let me know if you guys have it— it’s not a flattering coat in shape but I do love the little thing a lot.
