Be ready to wait one hour in line but it’s definitely worth it. I was big fan of halal guys for decade but they have become too big with many branches while their prices go up and quality is absolutely horrible. These guys are far better and much better rice and meats and also portion is good amount. Tasty rice and lamb is delicious while sauces are tasty also. Prices are good $9 combo. Beware you will spend some time on the toilet next day as expected but tasty while you eat it, so have your magazine or phone handy.

I would give this place 10 stars. During our visit to NYC came to this place twice. Sometimes have to wait on the line but it moves pretty quickly and the wait is totally worth! Loved the falafel wrap and chicken over rice. Good spice level as someone who enjoys spicy food. Prices are good and get a good portion of food. Very filling. Can’t wait to come back!

Ok yes the ques are around an hour to forty-five minutes long however, it is so worth the wait Adele's famous is by far the best halal food in NYC. If you like great food and don't mind a long wait do it. It's so affordable and the portion size is super generous. I highly recommend Adele's famous halal food cart.

this place had an insane line so we had to check it out! wait was around 30-45 minutes. once we got through and to the front of the line, it was quite hectic. there's no real menu at the front (just pictures on the side of the truck) so we asked people in the line what they got. so ordering was a little confusing but boy was the food delicious! a very generous portion of meat and a nice side of salad and pita. i would ask for more sauce next time because once the top layer was finished, there wasn't much sauce to go around for the meat sitting underneath. you're getting a great amount of food for $7-8. line may seem intimidating but it goes by fairly quick, food was definitely worth the line up and we can see it lives up to the hype!

Ok I'm sold, as this was really delicious and value for money. Queue for an hour starting from 9.30pm on a Wednesday night, and I would say it was absolutely worth it. Once it is your turn to order, it will be fast till you get your food. Ordered the chicken over yellow rice and was given the white and hot sauce by the side. Brought back to Brooklyn and it was still hot. At $8 for NYC pricing, this is definitely super value for money. Now to the actual review of the food itself. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. The rice was savoury but not salty. Pairing with lettuce and pita bread was perfect too. Now, on to the sauces itself and it's famous white sauce and hot sauce. Based on my experience, I would recommend to go easy with the sauces. Pour a moderate amount of white sauce and then a little bit of hot sauce, and mixed it well and you will subtly taste the sauce and still be able to taste the rice, chicken etc. Add more if you want, but be careful not too add too much hot sauce as it is numbing spicy and if you overdo it, you will not be able to enjoy the entire dish. Also, don't go overboard with the white sauce as trust me, you really want to taste the chicken and rice properly too, and not let the sauces take over the entire dish. In fact, I think one portion of white and hot sauce each would be enough.

I can see why people like it. rice was moist not hard just right good flavor. Two blend of meats lightly seasoned not over powering not burn moist just right. Good amount of salad and white sauce with pita bread 🫓 hidden under the white goodness. The hot sauce was just over powering not worth putting to much of it on. Over all good blend and amount over food wish it was a little more. The wait was crazy line was so long and the stall was even there yet. 1 1/2 hrs later with 70 people ahead of me. Be prepared for the long wait. Updated 2:30am on a Sunday why is this place still so busy. Update sep 8 2023 rainy day Line shorter about 30 people a head. The food tasted different today. I am not sure if the extra rain in the air effected the way the food cooked. Chicken 🍗 and lamb 🐑 tasted off rice was a little more on the softer side. Next time I make sure to come on a sunny day. Hope everyone food came out better.

I had a delicious meal of meat, falafel, and chicken. The rice was great, but unfortunately, they had issues with the sauce. They didn't give me any extra sauce, and when I asked to pay for more sauce, they said they had already added it. It seemed like they were saving the sauce as if it was rare on the earth. After waiting for two hours, I believe they should have given us more sauce as a complimentary gesture, instead of responding in a rude manner. Halal Guys sauce is better…

Simply amazing! Do yourself a favour and line up before opening. We lined up around 5:30pm on this Sunday and the line became extremely long by the 6pm service. We ended up getting our food around 6:15pm and it was well worth the wait. We ordered the combo over spicy rice with white sauce that was so flavourful and fresh. Sauces and seasoning were on point! The staff is extremely friendly, efficient and it’s clear they’re passionate about the food they serve. Local legend for a reason. Keep it up!

Wow.. The food here is absolutely worth the wait. The line was pretty long when we got there around 10pm. It took us 2 hours to get to the front of the line. Once you get to the front, your food is ready within seconds. I would do it all again in a heartbeat! The combo lamb & chicken with spicy rice was delicious. Make sure to get it with the white sauce!

My every week late night dinner, currently the best food in the city for me. Don’t even think just go here, it will be worth it. Normally a typical time to place the order or stand in a line takes 30+ minutes. But it definitely is worth it. They work really fast.

Hands down, they are worth it! They live up to their name, the hype, and most of all...the WAIT! With the amount of people on line all the way to the end of the block, and the contented faces of those eating their platters nearby, they deserve the word 'famous' in their name. We saw posts of them on IG, then saw them featured in YouTube videos, and went to see what all the hype was about. Saw a line with a good mix of college kids, locals and tourists and took that as a good sign. Expect a LONG LINE. We waited for an hour and a half, but its all pretty fast once they take your order and the food comes quick. It's also worth noting that they accept most methods of payment. Delicious, filling, and overall satisfying food! We got the chicken over rice, and the combo over rice, with sauces on the side. We wanted to savour the meat and rice first before dousing it with sauce. Both are equally delicious. It's the best halal cart food we've ever consumed. I was even craving it again the next day. If you plan to try it out, again, expect a line and a long wait, but get rewarded with great food!

The cart opens at 6 pm. There were people standing in a queue from 5 pm onwards. The wait time is too long but is worth all the wait. It’s the best chicken over rice i had in new york. The fries were also fresh and crispy. Meat was tender and juicy.

This is the best place to get your chicken or lamb over rice plate! The chicken is very soft, tender, and flavorful. I usually like to get only lamb over rice at other places because the chicken is not as soft as the other places. I would come here every time I visit New York. I'm from Houston and haven't found a halal meat over rice plate as good as Adel's Famous! I got the combo chicken and lamb over rice with white sauce and bbq sauce. Love that it's open very late until 4 am. The line can be long but it moves by fairly quick at the same time.

Totally surprised with the food here. We were staying close to Times Square, and were genuinely wondering why such a big line for this food every night. One night, we decided to order in, chicken and falafel spicy rice bowls. The food the damn flavorful and filling. Glad to have tried it during this visit. Would definitely eat here any day.

Great food! I got to the line for Adel’s around 10 minutes before they opened and was roughly 15-20 spots behind in line on a Thursday! But, be careful with time - the line gets long very quickly by the time it is 6! From when I arrived to when I had my order in hand, the wait was a half hour, and once I was at the front of the line, the service was quick. The chicken over rice was tasty and warm even after commuting back home! All the different components just fit together perfectly. I definitely recommend that you give it a try at least once, it is worth the wait.

Do not miss out on Adel’s when you’re in Manhattan. Expect to wait in the long line… 45 minutes plus! But once you place your order food comes quick. The guy taking the orders is super friendly and nice. The menu may look overwhelmingly but they can customize any meal for you. I heard regulars asking for Half and half rice or put the white sauce down first and then the rice. If you want spice go with the spicy rice and red sauce! I opted out of it haha I’m good with the yellow rice, falafel, veggies and white sauce! Significant other got the lamb over rice. Not many tables / seats to sit around there. But people always find ways to eat around there. I just take it back to the hotel!

You know that if there’s a line at 11pm, it’s gotta be good. And the line doesn’t lie. The guys working were fast and efficient. The chicken gyro was delicious. The chicken over rice was quite tasty and the same thing over the spicy rice makes it even better. The lamb gyro was good as well. Definitely worth the time standing in line.

I waited about 20-30 minutes in the rain; yes in the rain only because I heard great reviews about this place and I had to go try it myself and let me say 10/10! It was worth waiting in the rain; but I don't think I will wait more than an hour for it, but it is definitely worth the hype. Definitely give it a try for yourself, I love the that they have 2 different options of rice for you to choose from spicy or regular! I got the spicy rice with chicken and all the sauces that they offered! It was such a great combo with the right amount of flavors and spice! If you're not a fan of spicy I would say skip the hot sauce cause it has a good kick to it!

Ordered the spicy combo platter after waiting in line for about an hour and a half on a Sunday evening, so my expectations were pretty high. The chickens and lamb both were seasoned well and had a lot of flavor and were tender. No dry meat here! The rice pairs with the meat along with the sauces extremely nicely. It is one of the best halal carts in NYC. Only complaint would be the wait time, but otherwise, great food!

What to order: Combo over normal rice (not spicy) with white sauce, spicy sauce on the side (trust me, it’s HOT) How long I waited in line: Around an hour (7pm on a Thursday) Cost: $15-20 Is it worth it? Short answer, yes. I think you should give Adel’s a shot, at least once. Honestly some of the best halal food I’ve ever had. Could you find similar options near by? Yes absolutely. Royal Grill near by is similar and will give you close to the same quality for no wait.

The chicken over spicy rice will soothe pain in your legs after standing in the queue for an hour or more. Yes the queue gets really long but that’s because they are the BEST! The hot sauce is way too hot, take it on the side.

Waited 70 minutes in line and this was at 1030pm on a Sunday night. Was the food good? Definitely! Was it worth 70 minutes? Nope. I’d try to find smarter ways to get a plate of their combo over rice next time. They accept both cash and card.

I really love the food here. Usually there's a huge line, typically a 45 minute wait time. But once you get the food, it feels totally worth waiting for that long. Food is cheap, but way tastier than you would normally get elsewhere. It has got that cult status among all the Halal foods. Definitely try the Falafel over Spicy rice. Really loved it.

This is a must! At 11:15pm we waited in line in the rain for this delicious and popular food truck. I ordered rice and gyro sandwich and my partner did a mix of chicken and gyro salad. Did not disappoint. So good!

  • 5/5 Y 4 months ago on Google
Worth the wait- the reviews don’t exaggerate waited 50-60 mins on a Monday night at 10:30. However the following day around 7:30 it started raining and the line was significantly shorter than the night before and only waited 15 mins. The food is worth fairly priced for the quantity and protein choices. The food was 10/10 and would wait again. Highly suggesting sending someone in your group to wait in line. Street parking, and there are tables and chairs if you wish to eat there.

This the latest food truck sensation in New york. On a Tuesday night we had to wait for 1 hour in the que. But it was worth it. When we were walking back from Halal guys previous night and noticed the line up. Decided to come back next night. Food is super taste and served hot. its only $8 in NYC and nothing can beat it. This should be definite place to go if you visit NYC

  • 5/5 N S. 1 year ago on Google
The line was enough to tell me it was good as it went all the way down the block. It took about 30 minutes to get to the front, but it went fast after I ordered. I ordered the combo (chicken and lamb) on spicy rice with 2 falafel balls and extra white sauce. It was so good and so filling. The spicy rice is not overly hot if you like some heat with your food. The platter also has pita bread and salad. Well worth the wait.

NY's famous halal food truck lives up to its hype with a flavor-packed mix of chicken and lamb over rice that hits the spot. Despite slightly dry falafel, the outstanding garlic sauce elevates the dish, while the spicy sauce brings a flavorful kick. Despite the long wait in the rain, the taste makes it worth the queue - getting extra garlic sauce is recommended!

I saw the line from the van going about 50 yards down the sidewalk and after watching all the US food van shows on TV back in Australia, I knew this was a line I needed to be in. Waited about 45 mins in the cold but I was told by others in the line that they have been in longer lines for this tasty meal. Once I ordered with the friendly staff the food was out quick and it was delicious! Juicy chicken and fluffy rice. Plenty of white sauce and hot sauce on the side. Thanks for the NYC experience. There were other food vans around and they had no-one waiting.

Was waiting for 2hours for their much renowned spicy combo over rice with white sauce. We took the barbecue sauce with that, our all time favourite sauce with mostly anything. I’ll say it’s definitely worth all the wait. We usually don’t like the salad with rice items, but this time it was different. They put pieces of nun bread in the rice, which is really fluffy and pleasant, that made me wonder how their gyro items would be like. Well, probably gonna be back for the gyro items.

Chicken/Lamb over rice is pretty good, waited 2hrs in a line. Their food deserve 4 stars because of quality and freshness. It was definitely worth the first try, but I won’t stand in the line again for 2hours to eat it. They should change their ordering process or should add one more truck next to it to process people faster.

  • 5/5 Annabelle S. 4 months ago on Google
Was told it was delicious. Was told there would be a wait. Both correct. Waited an hour, slick operation. The food was very good, mixed meat on spicy rice with white and hot sauce. And an ice cold can of coke. Would definitely make the effort, wait again.

I have to say this is by far the best halal food we had so far. We saw a post on IG on how good this place is so decided to give it a try. We tried many food trucks in both NYC and Jersey. The rice is already flavored and the chicken is a little spicy but super tender. The lamb is fantastic. Having tried both Halal Guys and this one, I have to say this is way better even though we had to wait for 1 hour on Friday night around 2am. Will definitely come back.

They are the only food truck I will ever eat it from! It does live up to its reputation. Only thing is the line, it goes up to entire block and waiting time is 1-1.5 hours at peak time. I heard best time to go is right before they start setting up - around 5:45pm. Food was absolutely delicious, I tried 3 times already, and those 3 hours is wait line was totally worth it!

  • 4/5 Shivam 11 months ago on Google
It is Famous actually. I waited in queue for more than 1 and half hours to get my food for the first time. As you can see a long line. People wait patiently to get food from him. I ordered chicken over rice (9$) with spicy rice 🧆 which was yumm 🤤 and its heavy, portion size is enough for 1 person. If you pay from card you pay extra but if you pay by cash you might save a dollar according to what you are buying. Tip:- come near 5pm you ll not see huge line despite Google shows opens at 6 pm.😉

One of the best halal food in NYC!!! Can never go wrong with this whether it’s late night cravings or just comfort food it’s perfect. Drove all the way from Long Island for this should tell you how good they are and prices are fair for the quantity. Ordered the mix platter with lamb and chicken w/ yellow rice. This was probably the best lamb and chicken combo very flavorful. Each platter comes with salad, rice and bread. They have 2 different options for rice you can either have yellow rice or spicy rice. They have different options to choose from as well as falafel. They are open everyday at 6pm ideally the best time is around 7pm to get food on weekdays. Mo was very helpful he made the pickup experience very fast and convenient. Weekends are very busy with wait time anywhere from 1-2 hours but it’s worth it for sure. They take cash and credit cards, which in my opinion is very helpful.
