Ever wondered where to eat the best Dim Sum in town? Well, this is the place to go. Very delicious and cheap Dim Sum! Honestly, too cheap for what you get. I would still go there if they charged twice as much because the quality is just too good. When we went there we tipped them 40% because we felt that an Institution like that should be supported. A place that offers cheap and delicious food is hard to find these days. 好吃!! Can‘t wait to go there again!!

Luckily we made a reservation but we could not be seated until that exact time as there is a long line of people in the front. Its an old very popular Chinese restaurant in Chinatown in a small street, secluded but well known. They have a variety of dishes so you would need to come many times to taste them all. What we had was really good, I didn’t care for their fried rice and some gyoza. Noodles where a bit dry but very tasty, dim sum was good. Sesame rice balls were delicious. Service is fast and efficient. They bring the dishes as they are ready so there is always something on the table.

Known as the first dim sum place in NY. There was a long line to get a table. After we got seated, the tables were kind of close to each other. This isn’t a large place. There was actually an older white lady that was complaining about us taking pictures of the food, unbeknownst to her, this is how people find out online if something is good. She definitely wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. The service was meh, we got our food fast. The food itself is decent. It wasn’t super tasty but it wasn’t horrible either. I only came here because of the reputation, so I don’t think I’ll return.

Incredibly delicious dim sum classics in a no frills setting. This is hands down the best dim sum I’ve had, with so much on the menu to enjoy. Wish some other options were included but what they do have is insanely tasty. The scallion pancakes and shrimp dumplings were unreal! They’re cash or American Express only so make sure to plan ahead.

Old school deco and the same old school unpleasant dining experience. Way overrated and overpriced. Food quality is on par with most dim sum restaurants nearby. I actually like the food better at the House of Joy across the street. Our unpleasant dining experience….let me explain. The waitresses are generally friendly and polite. The waiters are beyond horrible. They are inattentive, rude and somewhat arrogant! I ordered steamed Chinese broccoli. They are about 6 to 8 inches long and most dim sum places would cut them in half its easier for customers to eat. I had to ask the service here and while my waiter was cutting them with a pair of scissors, I kind of knew an incident was going to happen while our waiter was cutting out broccoli and it did happen. Usually a careful waiter would take the plate to his serving table and cut the veggies there. Our waiter wanted to cut the Chinese broccoli while it’s sitting right in front of me. The veggies could get slippery because of the oyster sauce and moisture from boiling/steaming. Our waiter accidentally made some of the broccoli slipped off the plate while cutting them. They fell on my laps and shoes and eventually landed on the floor underneath our table. He made a quick apology, ran away and never came back while the veggies stayed on the floor for the next few minutes. I was hoping he’d come back and clean up the mess but apparently he thought he’s done with the incident after he said “I’m sorry”. Eventually I got down underneath the table and wrapped the veggies in a napkin and kicked them to the aisle. The incident left oil and sauce stains on my jeans and suede shoes. I spoke to an waitress about the problem I had with the waiter who just left the scene with the mess underneath my table. She was polite and apologetic. I observed she later had a quick chat with her male coworkers about this and it appeared they didn’t care about it. The manager/owner was also in the store and didn’t express any concerns at all. My 6-year-old son saw the entire incident and perhaps his comment was most symbolic. He says the waiter who spilled the food needs to go back to P-K school to learn basic manners because he should have come back and pick up the food on the floor. By the way, their general hygiene is questionable. The floor was greasy and dirty.

Simply put, this place is overrated and is survived by tourists. If you want to experience eating at a historical Chinatown landmark then cool, go for that reason. If you want to experience delicious dim sum, this place is NOT it. There was a long wait outside and I should’ve known the quality would be meh when there were maybe 1 Asian for every 20 non-Asians dining inside. The Asian aunties aren’t flocking here for a reason and it’s because there are better quality dim sum elsewhere at a better price point. Note: They only accept cash and American Express. Don’t go into the restroom, it is disgusting.

We looked forward to dining here for over a year while we were visiting the city after getting their cookbook as a gift. It certainly did not disappoint. There was a small line when we arrived on a Tuesday night and we waited outside for 10 minutes before being seated. The service was speedy and the food excellent. It had a similar but more casual vibe than our dim sum houses on the west coast.

Great location to have a tasty Chinese style meal. The restaurant has an old but elegant look, the service is fast and professional. We ordered Chinese Greens in Oyster Sauce, Egg Fried Rice, Pan Fried Pork Dumplings and Sweet And Sour Pork Chops. I can say that all the dishes were delicious, but the last one was exceptional. Reasonable Prices.

Adored this place! The food was phenomenal, and you get such a great bang for your buck. Our whole meal was $80 for two, but we have leftovers for 2 meals easily. The service was also great, food came out quickly, and welcoming/lively atmosphere! Only couple of notes are that: 1) I thought all the meat and veggie dishes were better than the rice dishes. They were good, but not as we seasoned and fresh as the rest of the items that we ordered. 2) Cash or AMEX only

Literally so good. Insanely huge portions. Would definitely order less next time. Also these are the biggest spring rolls I’ve ever had in my life. Takes a while to get a seat but the service is insanely quick once you’re seated. Very very good though, will definitely be coming back.

Delicious dim sum! I came around 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and there was a short line. Being a part of 2, we were seated inside pretty immediately, maybe 5-10 min total. We ordered the veggie dumplings, roast pork bun, and scallion/cilantro rice rolls. You must order rice rolls if you come here! We didn’t order any mains as we were going to another nearby restaurant after. Be mindful that it’s cash or AMEX only!

A surprise to find good dim sum in NYC. The settings inside is quaint and old school. We ordered a good selection of shrimp dumpling, noodles, rice flour, glutinous rice, pork meat bun, sesame balls, custard lava bun and fried carrot cake. . The table is really too small for the food served as the portion is large. I enjoyed especially the sesame balls and noodles. Service is not bad too.

Looks charming from the outside. The charm sadly does not carry over inside. 3 of us dined here and we ordered several items from the menu to share. After having dined here, I agree with most of the not so good reviews I read about this place. I found the food average. The Roast Pork Bun had more onions in it than Pork. The Shrimp Sui Mai was not even warm when it was served to us. It was my first-time eating Shrimp Rice Roll, so I did not know what to expect from it, but I liked it. The pan-fried shrimp chive dumpling was the best item I had because they had to fry it and it was hot when it was served, and it tasted pretty good. The shrimp bacon roll was good. The shrimp egg fried rice was just disappointing. Would I ask anyone to try it atleast once before they make up their mind? Yes. Would I go back? No. Covid vaccinations was checked thoroughly. Cash or Amex only.

Popular dim sum place but we felt it was a way over rated. The fried dim sum xo roll and shrimp in bean curd skin was soaked in oil and we could not eat it. We did like shrimp rice rolls, pan fried pork dumplings, shrimp shumai, noodles and soup dumplings. Turnips in xo sauce was average. Phoenix buns had grainy custard which was not good at all. Quality has been compromised with popularity. Tea choices only had oolong, chestnut and one more tea.

The only word to describe the food is WOW. The pork soup dumpling take you to a whole other level of taste. The fried pork dumplings taste amazing. The steamed buns with the yolk inside taste super delicious. It’s a mixture of sweet and salty and doesn’t even taste like eggs. Definitely coming back on my next trip

It's a great, simple dim sum! So good that we came back a second time before we left. The menu is not expansive, but it's quality dishes. Give the beef dumpling soup a try, it's quite good in light broth. The turnip cake is soft and flavorful. Sticky rice had good balance. Highly recommend. You might wait a few minutes for a table, but it's never long. And the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely return. Again. (the oolong tea was very good as well! Best with your dim sum!)

Excellent food! The place is so cute and the wait in line is totally worth it. Service is quick although they forgot to bring us one item. Our favorites were the stuffed eggplant, eggrolls, spare ribs with flat noodles. Also good but not that special: the scallion pancakes, dumpling soup and fried rice.

Affordable dim sum by US standards. The queuing took about 30 to 40mins around about 2pm on a Saturday. The food had good sized portions, and tasted good. I missed the authentic bamboo steamers that usually come with the dim sum. Take note. They only accept Cash or Amex.

Quick line, despite its length. Very competent hostess. The food was great, but our milk teas weren't sweet despite asking to add sugar to them, which was slightly disappointing. Regardless, it was reasonably priced dim sum and I liked the restaurant's vibes. Very casual (a place to go with friends, but not necessarily business partners or a date). Be aware that it's cash only!

Delicious delicious dim sum foods in the corner of Doyers Street! There's always a line because it's worth it. Every bite was delicious and so super full by the end of it. This place feels like Chinatown in every way. Enjoy

There’s nothing in this place that I wouldn’t recommend it over and over again. Be patient, lines get long but run fast. Service is very fast and prices and cheap. When in China Town, you HAVE to stop here.

Waited for about 25 min to get into this iconic restaurant on a Monday but well worth it! It was the end for a little China town food tour. We got the bbq pork buns, scallion cakes and phoenix buns for dessert. You should always get this! So delicious.

We’ve only tried the dumplings, spring rolls and rice rolls, but they very spectacular. Atmosphere was very unique too. The only reason for my 4* is that the service was pretty slow and they didn’t take cards. Even though I can understand the reasoning, I feel like nowadays the option should be still available.

Most delicious dim sum I’ve ever had. This spot is super popular for a reason. The scallion pancakes were the perfect crispy texture. The shrimp balls were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and delicious all around. The fried dumplings were also very tasty. A pot of jasmine tea is the perfect way to wash it all down. The line for this spot was super long when I left, so try to get there before noon.

Chinatowns oldest dimsum place lives upto it's name! Be prepared to wait if you are there on weekends. The tiny place has some really big flavors- must trys are the shrimp and snow pea leaf dumplings, scallion pancakes and shrimp rice roll.Everything we ordered was made fresh and was reasonable . A great place to eat a casual and satisfying meal.

Have known about this spot since the Vice coverage in 2020. The decor is a timeless throwback to HK Cafes in the 50's. While these shrimp dumplings had a generous portion of excellent shrimp, the skin dried as soon as the basket arrived. Stellar shrimp dumplings have a delicate and thin skin, and these were not it. Salted egg buns were easily the best on the menu. Wish other items carried the same standards, but I'm glad to have visited once.

The shrimp rice roll was really good! Everything else was good as well. Food tasted freshly made, definitely come back again for dim sum :)

It's always a must-visit on holidays. Line moves quickly. Clean inside, and with covid restriction, lots of open space. Service was great!

The place is way too crowded and it takes about 20mins or more to get seated during weekends. The service is fast but basic. The food tastes the usual but is definitely way too expensive by at least 100%. Am sure most other joints would be the same at much lower price.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in New York. There was some wait on a Saturday during lunch, aprox 30min for 2 pp. I believe that's because they don't have many tables as they are following the CDC guidelines. House made pork bao was absolutely perfect. Loved the rice shrimp and shrimp shumai. I'm only giving 4 stars because the spring roll was all about dough and almost no vegetables. Wouldn't ordered again. CASH and AMEX accepted.

Located in a narrow quiet street, this is a hidden gem in Chinatown. Inside is relatively small for dim sum, but food are really good, also there are a large variety of food on the menu. We ate a lot, yet there were still s little of others on the menu we wanted to try……service was good and fast. Highly recommended. If you ever go to Chinatown, this is the place worth trying.

  • 5/5 Dino R. 5 months ago on Google
The service is consistent and the food is delicious and authentic; this is a cash only restaurant as is the case with most establishments here in China Town. If there's a wait time, not to worry, the line will move pretty fast and the wait is worth it. When you're given the menu, be ready to jot down the number of each item you'd like to request directly on the menu and the wait staff will return promptly to take your order. Again, the food is delicious, just be ready with cash (or AMEX) and enjoy the experience.

This restaurant is the oldest dim sum restaurant in NYC. Year 1920. The egg rolls were really good. You can actually see the filling is wrapped with eggs! The food came out fast and was delicious. My oldest loved the bacon wrapped shrimp!

  • 4/5 Carlos E. 7 months ago on Google
One of the oldest dim sum restaurants in NYC and is popular with tourists. Would recommend trying the stuffed eggplant, scallion pancakes, fried shrimp with bean curd skin rolls, sticky rice with Chinese sausage and beef rice roll. While the food was delicious, the dishes did seem a bit greasy. The interior is quite spacious, although you might need to share one of the large tables with other diners during busy times. Looking around, you'll be able to get a feel for the place's history, with photos and memorabilia on the walls. The restrooms, while functional, could use some renovation. For dinner, would recommend coming here a bit earlier, particularly during the weekends, as it tends to get busy and you may need to line up outside.

  • 4/5 Mitali B. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely adorable old style tea parlor. Amazing dimsums, small servings and quick service. They only accept cash and amex but it’s totally worth it. There is usually a huge waiting line post 6 PM on a weekend. They don’t take reservations and are on first come first serve basis. The pork soup dumplings, stuffed eggplant, pan fried pork dumplings and shrimp is to die for.

  • 5/5 Jon R. 2 years ago on Google
This place is a must try if you're in Chinatown! This place is a hidden gem, inside such a cute street. The dimsum is delicious and tons to choose from!

Got chicken feet, turnip cake, chive and shrimp dumplings, and fried tofu skin w shrimp. Food was all so delicious and was served pretty quickly. Everything tasted very fresh and authentic. But not serving complimentary tea threw me off. I wish they didn’t charge for tea, that is kind of absurd to me. Would come again.
