Fantastic experience, excellent food and tip top service. Every bite is a new sensation. Food is fresh and creative with layers of flavor and texture. We went for the $50 for 30 minutes (12 pieces) and added 2-3 pieces each a la carte. Together with drinks & tips comes to around $250 for two. Thoroughly worth it for the quality of food. There is a $100 option for 60 minutes (18 pieces). The 30 minutes didn’t feel rushed. Chef took in our orders early so we had time to enjoy. We were a few minutes over but they didn’t push us out.

My first Omakase experience... & WOW!!! From what I was told this place was more than reasonably priced. The whole thing was an experience, every bite was a different trip (one you wouldn't want to miss). The chefs were super cool, we had great convo and good laughs. The host and waiters we're dope too, and kept the drinks coming. Not to mention the atmosphere and vibe were the doooopest. Can't wait to come back.

Excellent omakase for $50! Can’t beat that value. Quality is good and service is outstanding! Personally I’ve had marginally better omakase at other places, but again, at this price point, I’m not complaining at all! Just comparatively with some other $75-85 places, I’d say the quality here is a tier lower. Overall, really loved the experience and everything was tasty and fresh! Chefs and servers were nice too. A delightful experience indeed. Will certainly be back!

Absolutely fantastic place. “Hole in the wall” (or basement) but once you enter you feel like you’ve ever a tiny restaurant in Tokyo. Cocktails were refreshing y to get us in the mood. The omakase was simply amazing. Highly recommend.

Top secret hidden gem with style. They had 12 straight different types of sushi hand made in front of you. Only seats 8 get reservations, flavors you've never experienced in every unique masterpiece.

One of the best omakase I have ever tried. Every piece is different and fantastic. I loveeeeee the Big Mac which has everything I love: toro, wagyu, uni, & scallop. The staff was super friendly. I had a chance to meet one of the partners as well. Their price is super affordable. I tried Yuzu Honey Bee and it’s my fav from now on. Highly recommend this place 😍✨🤍

Trust me, I know good sushi and I'm really picky about the rice, size/freshness of fish of my nigiris. This place has one of the best omakase menu I've tried in NYC in this price range. Staffs are super fun too. Definitely coming back.

My friend booked an early dinner here before our show last week. She highly recommended this place to me. We had an awesome amazing delicious sushi omakase experience! Every bite was so fresh, flavorful, and heavenly. Also had to try the Big Mac (wagyu, toro, scallop, uni), which was messy multiple bites of goodness. With a cozy limited seating area in the basement, this intimate dining experience had a speakeasy like feel. Cocktails were unique and creative, brought to us by the amazing Erika! She made our night and is such a great presence there. I hope to make it back again sooner than later!

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Sushi by Bou in midtown New York. Slight speakeasy vibe as the entrance is at the end of a hall (not too difficult to find though). The sushi bar seats approx a dozen person. Good vibes with hip hop playlist and nice chefs/staff. The sushis were all very good and you can order extra ones after the omakase.

I have visited Sushi By Bou and the experience left a lasting impression. The 12 course omakase dining journey was nothing short of exquisite, with each dish thoughtfully crafted to perfection. The Hamachi (9/10) and Hotate (9/10) stood out as exceptional highlights, showcasing the chef's skill and precision. The atmosphere at Sushi by Bou is both hip and young, providing the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience. The service was attentive, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the evening. From the melt-in-your-mouth Toro (9.5/10) to the delicate Akami (8.5/10), the menu boasts a diverse range of sushi options that cater to various palates. The Gindara (8.5/10) and Maguro (8.5/10) added another layer of sophistication to the culinary journey. While some dishes like the Botan Ebi (7/10) and Wagyuri (7.5/10) scored lower than the others scored, the overall dining experience was undoubtedly one to savor. Sushi by Bou is definitely a place to visit carved its place as a destination for those seeking a culinary adventure in the world of sushi. In summary, Sushi by Bou offers a commendable blend of quality, service, and a diverse sushi selection that makes it a noteworthy spot for any sushi enthusiast. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their culinary offerings.

Only 8 people per service, 30 min long in a small basement… Testing menu of 12 dishes, actually bites Every bite was a pleasure. Great quality, great freshness pure joy, but again on the fast track…. After 30 min you’re out, so don’t plan to hang around Pricey, too pricey

Sushi by Bou is one of the best kept secrets in NYC. This place is a gem and will become my new go to for sushi in the big apple. The menu offers an incredibly fresh and high quality omakase menu I really enjoyed. The flavors were unique and the chefs swift and super knowledgeable. We had lunch at the 47th street location which is located underground but accessible from the street. The atmosphere is intimate with an edge. The service was excellent as well with a lot of attention paid to the entire experience from the moment we walked in. Great place for lunch and dinner as well. Top notch all around!

Delicious omakase-especially since it was our first time! It was very much a secretive basement restaurant vibe! Seats about 8 people and is 45-50 mins long which is perfect! The sushi chef puts on a show and tells us what each delectable bite of sushi was. We very much enjoyed the 12 piece course, definitely need to visit again soon!

This was definitely a more unconventional omakase restaurant (had a more modern spin on decor and atmosphere), but it was super delicious! All of the staff and chefs were super friendly. Would definitely return here again. Also got the Big Mac which I highly recommend.

Friend and I had a reservation for dinner on a Sunday evening in August. We had the 12-piece omakase followed by the Big Mac. The place is small and downstairs from street level. The food is delicious, and some of the preparation is very interesting to watch. I loved the Big Mac too and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to fill up their stomach.

Best kept secret place in NY! By far the best Sushi bar in town. Incredible sushi’s. The quality is fantastic. The service is perfect. In short go there! You won’t regret it! And in case some of you guys speak French, Imax who welcomes you does too 😉.

Perspective as an Asian who enjoys matured sushi, I have had many experiences with entry to medium-level omakase ($60 to $250) I summary- disappointing, and I would recommend it only to those who are willing to waste over $60 without high expectations for sushi and don't mind the issues I mentioned. 1. Excessive noise due to loud music. 2. I found the chef to be unimpressive. Upon seating, he asked about allergies. Even though my companions hadn't arrived yet and I didn't know their allergies, I replied that I didn't know. Told him my friend arrived a minute later, but he insisted that they needed to know about allergies before any dishes could be prepared as all people will be served with same sushi, which was quite frustrating. Told three times that I do not know. I didn't understand why I had to be scolded while paying over $60 for a meal. It left a bad taste in my mouth even before I started eating. 3. Lack of dining etiquette - chef constant inquiries about the food. “Is it good” at every peace. Never experienced 4. Pre-sliced fish that may compromise flavor. 5. Overpowering oil aroma on top of sushi. 6. Pre-chopped tuna comes from a plastic plate with a wrapper goes on maki right away. Never experienced. 7. Hidden card fees ($65 for cards, $60 for cash) without prior notice.

Perfect sushi rice temperatures and a good variety of sushi. My favorite is the Wagyu Uni, Miso Cod, and the Spot Prawn but all were delicious. Would highly recommend especially for a timed lunch break or pre-theater option since it’s done in 30 minutes flat unless you order some extras. Would definitely return.

Postmodern Omakase experience. Fatty Tuna was my favorite. Chefs were super professional. No need to pay double to other fancy places for the same quality sushi.

Best sushi omakase in midtown by a mile. If you overlook this place, you don’t know sushi. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. The pieces were savory, delicious and delicate. The flavor profile was perfectly balanced with all ingredients. The full coarse leaves you fully satisfied but not overwhelmed. We’ll worth the price of admission.

I had a great lunch with my family before a show. The location is super intimate and almost feels like a sushi speakeasy. Our chef for omakase was chef Jun and he was amazing. The fish was very fresh and staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back

Sushi By Bou is my favourite omakase spot because of the service and freshness of fish. The fish are all great, the uni is so sweet, the sake-ikura is delicious, and the seared/cooked eel/miso cod/wagyu are also amazing. I always get the big mac because it’s delectable. It’s a quick-paced (30min) service and very delicious! I love interacting with my chef and how communal the experience feels. Last night was my 3rd time going to celebrate my birthday. Hope to keep the tradition going!

The restaurant has a sort of hole in the wall feel until you step into the door; then it’s somehow swanky and cozy at the same time. The food was excellent. Fish melts in your mouth, and I loved the flavors added to the fish. I was a little intimidated at first, but the staff were super friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed this omakase experience!

An intimate ambiance with incredible service and food. The entire staff was accommodating from our courteous bartender and knowledgeable chef, to IMAX, our friendly host. We went for the 60 minute Omakase arrangement and topped it off with their Big Mac (pictured) and Row of Roe specials. My GF and I came to celebrate my birthday and they definitely provided a memorable experience.

i had their 30-minute omakase (the chefs feed you a pre-set menu— similar to prix fixe). their fish is extremely fresh and the sushi is masterfully put together. there is a tremendous amount of attention to detail and i was not disappointed by any of the dishes. i was especially delighted with the hamachi (yellow tail) and toro (fatty tuna— i had both chutoro and otoro). definitely recommend coming!
