Speakeasy of Strength combines all the best things I love about a gym: quality movement, community, and fun! It's a small but mighty location with some of the best coaches around. The entire team holds a really high bar for movement quality, but everyone adds their own unique twist to keep it fresh and fun. Even during COVID-19, I've been doing online programming which has been a godsend, and makes me really grateful to be part of this community! If you want to have fun, move well, and stay healthy, Speakeasy of Strength is the place for you.

Coach Fury cares about not only the quality of your training experience, but the knowledge he teaches you. He leads with heart by creating a brave space for folks to push themselves in a safe and supervised manner. He's got a mastery in badassery! He is the BEST!

Coach Fury is a badass. This man’s technical knowledge for fitness is matched only by his insane love of superheroes/comic books. Fury is an incredible teacher and I look forward to checking out his new studio in Brooklyn.

I've trained with Coach Fury for years. When we first met I hadn't worked out in years and, in fact, thought I hated it. Fury made it fun & helped me to learn at the same time. While training I consistently increased the weight I could lift and the things I could do. I highly recommend Fury for his professionalism, knowledge & ability to make even the hardest thing fun! If ur on the fence, jump it & run to Fury! U will feel better, look better & be better!

Fury is one of the best. I met him at Mark Fisher Fitness years ago and short-sightedly assumed we would not be a good match (I’m not a tattoo and loud music kind of guy.). Well thank goodness my prejudices didn’t stop me from trying a session with him, because I instantly fell in love, and Fury became one of my favorites. His knowledge and passion for fitness inspired me to try and succeed at all kinds of challenges with kettlebells, sandbags, weights, etc. As a class programmer, he helped up the game and encourage everyone to develop new skills and push themselves. Somehow he got me to even “like” bear crawls. That is magic. Give him a try. You won’t regret it.

I've been training with Fury for over 6 months. My body was in bad shape after competitive sports, and Fury got me fit and pain-free when surgery, PT rehab, chiro, and acu couldn't. I'm forever grateful!

The best training space in Brooklyn! Comfortable for beginners, challenging for experienced gym-goers, Coach Fury has really created a personal, neighborhood feel and an environment that fosters personal growth and FUN. I've taken the small group classes as well as trained with Coach Fury and really enjoy and respect his approach - he meets me where I'm at while encouraging me to give just a little bit more each time.

Need a personal trainer? Great, Fury is the dude for you. Don't think you need a personal trainer but somewhat interested? Fantastic, Fury is the dude for you. Have a personal trainer and as you read this are saying 'I dunno, dude, I have someone I think I'm ok with...' well, let me tell you, Fury is definitely the dude for you and you should check him out. My girlfriend introduced me to Coach Fury through her gym as I was looking to get into better shape and was curious to try a personal trainer. She had a hunch that Fury and I would hit it off, its more like we were twins separated at birth as we have very similar interests. We often nerd out while lifting heavy things, which I think for most is the goal of working with a personal trainer. His knowledge of physical fitness, weight training and overall health is extremely impressive, yet he always is able to state it in a way that I understand and can make work. When we first met, Fury started with a very simple question, what do I want to achieve? My answer was simple, I'd like to bench over 215 and I'd like to grab my GF in mid-air the way Ryan Reynolds does in Deadpool. He said, 'I got it, and no worries.' Thus our training began with an emphasis on core strength training. Obviously your training regimen will vary with what your goals are, but he strives to make sure you are getting the most of every session. One thing I really like about training with Fury is his ability to make things relate-able and understandable. Fury knows I'm a Marvel fan and when helping me to refine my squats, he used an Iron Man reference to make sure I was understanding what I need to do. There's no complicated biology lessons here (though Fury does know his stuff if you happen to wax scientific), just solid training geared towards what works best for you. In addition to private sessions, Fury runs a number of group classes and will be expanding soon to a huge studio, so there has never been a better time to try him out. Fury is awesome, and if I could throw in a 6th star here, I would. Definitely check him out! #dieMighty

I joined Speakeasy Strength when I was looking to step up my fitness in a new way. I started off with personal training sessions which was a great fit for me because I find some gyms intimidating and I wanted to ease into the small group classes. From my very first session at Speakeasy Strength, I felt welcomed & a feeling of “I can do this!” thanks to Coach Fury. I have trained with both Fury and Mal and they both are GREAT! Three months later, I am feeling stronger than ever and comfortable with moves I never knew I could do. Through COVID-19, I’ve continued with my training through Zoom sessions and they push my home work out to a new level. The plus to working out with this team is that it's fun & an awesome crew! I highly recommend Speakeasy Strength to all!

This place is the best. I hate "big box" gyms, and this is the opposite - chill, friendly, supportive and full of down-to-earth people. The coaches are uniformly great and the members really feel like a community. Highly recommended if you enjoy strength and movement, but want to avoid the intimidating, macho vibes of most gyms. Online small group training sessions during COVID-19 having been great too! I feel like I've barely missed a beat in my fitness and it's awesome to have a full schedule of sessions to rely on.

My fitness goals have shifted from aesthetics to focus on how my body moves in the world. Speakeasy of Strength's functional movement principles has help to correct some body imbalances and allows me to move with a greater sense of power. Though classes have moved online during the pandemic, the quality of instruction hasn't changed. All the coaches are knowledgeable, professional and hilarious. The location is super clean and this was before COVID-19. This is truly a gem in Brooklyn and I gladly drive the 35 minutes from home to get there.

If I could give Fury 10 stars I would. I met him in 2013 at my RKC and he had an immediate impact on my life. His teaching style resonated deeply with me. He is real, no BS, honest and caring. I find that very refreshing in the fitness industry.Since then I’ve followed him to through DVRT Ultimate Sandbags as well as Original Strength. I think the biggest thing I’ve received from him is belief in myself. Time and time again he has shown me that my major limitation is my own beliefs. In April I signed on with him for a customized training program. His programming is specific, balanced, safe and purposefully incremental. He meets you where you are and progresses you brilliantly to where you want to be. I’m about to enter the last week of my second round of programming, and already excited to see what is next! My strength, muscle & technique are growing constantly. Online or in person, training with Fury is getting the absolute best of the best.

The Speakeasy of Strength has been an amazing lifeline to help keep me motivated and engaged in fitness, even during times of personal and external stress. The coaching staff, and especially Coach Fury, are all extremely knowledgeable about their craft, generous with their time and expertise, and never fail to engage with me and make me laugh during of a session. I highly recommend them for both in person and online training.

I've trained with Coach Fury on and off for almost ten years now and with good reason - he's the best! He originally helped me get back into shape after a gnarly back injury awhile back and introduced me to kettlebells, bodyweight exercises and stretching protocols that I still use today. He's a true master coach - insanely knowledgable, patient and cool. If you're looking to get in the best shape of your life and train with the best, check out the Speakeasy.

I might be his wife but when we started dating he introduced kettlebells to my workout and it has changed my life. I never heard of them so wasn’t sure at first. I was going to the local chain gym and really not seeing results so I was open to try. I have been hooked ever since and swear by his training methods.

Coach Fury and his team are such a strong group of people, we had an AMAZING time learning sandbags here!

I’ve been training with Coach Fury for well over a year now. I’m usually a person who gets tired of working out at the same place after awhile, but Coach’s four week programs and mix of tools (kettlebells, sandbags, clubs, TRX, etc) keep everything super interesting. And when we don’t do an exercise for a while, it’s always fun to see it rotate back in, like an old friend. Now in my forties, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and this strength really carries over into my other fitness interests and life. I get injured less, it’s way easier to haul my laundry and groceries, and I can absolutely crush a yoga class. What can I say? If this were a cult, I’d be happily indoctrinated. Luckily, it’s just a supportive, interesting, fun group of people getting strong as f#%$.

I’ve coached with Fury for years in a class setting and privately. He’s extremely knowledgeable and makes fitness education fun! I always love working out with him because he teaches you to really listen to your body, he pushes you, but never too much and it’s clear he’s one of the best in the business. To me he’s more than just an amazing trainer, he’s a friend.

I first met Coach Fury at a small group training facility in Manhattan. When he opened in Brooklyn, it was a no brainer to follow him there as that’s where I live. The strength and movement small group training is the best for me as I’m completely lost in a gym on my own. Simply put, I need instruction. Coach delivers with expertise, and an encyclopedic knowledge of the body and its systems. Not to mention the super fun and creative atmosphere of the space itself. All the instructors here are at the top of their game, and I couldn’t recommend it more.

I was looking for a kettlebell gym in the Gowanus/Park Slope area, and have been going to Speakeasy of Strength about twice a week for the last 6 months. It's awesome. Coach Fury is very knowledgeable about kettlebell and sand bag exercises, and he has set a up a really inclusive and fun environment. The classes go in 4 week cycles that build on skills and intensity, so you'll learn new exercises every month. I feel so much stronger because of this place. If you've been considering it, try it!!

After taking more years off than i want to admit from working out, I was motivated to get back to it when Coach Fury opened the Speakeasy of Strength over the summer. His friendly demeanor was disarming and his commitment to strength building for healthy living was really appealing. I’ve surprised even myself with my enthusiasm for getting up for 630 am classes multiple times per week. I can’t believe how much I enjoy working out! And I’m seeing the results already - both in how I feel and how I look ;) the program is designed for each person to “run their own race” as Coach Fury always says. He’s super knowledgeable about the body and very cautious about form to avoid injuries. Give it a try!
