I was at Gouverneur Health on 12/07/2020 Dept of Finances on the first floor. As patients waited to be allocated there were people that had been waiting for awhile. Two supervisors where out that day. A couple of the workers took it upon themselves to have a good socializing time and avoid helping out the patients. Took a picture and the worker was very upset at being photographed. Kept defending herself as being on break. If she had been on break then she had nothing to worry about. Security was called and they left me alone. They know what goes on there. David Arroyo was called he is an Patient Representative. I made a vocal complaint and don't know if it is going to be followed through. Did I mention that I spoke to other patients one of them had been waiting for over and hour to be taken care of. As the two young ladies were having their chit chat with no concerns about the patients. Sad how a few person can tarnish the reputation of a place. We all have rights and we need to speak up. They have great doctors. They need better supervision of their workers. I will save the picture. Don't know if I am allowed to share here. Later on now in August 2021 I find that nothing was done about it. Told by one supervisor that next time to call 311. They protect one another and forget about the patients rights.

Poor service, one of the mandarin translator was rude and uneducated, Making judgements in mandarin in front of the patient and talking haughty all the time. I was trying to make an appointment for my dad who doesn’t speak English and mandarin. He required a cantonese translator but somehow a mandarin translator took over the phone. So I decided to speak for my dad, and make appointment for him. She said that I did not inform her about the authorization and that I did something ILLEGAL? Even though I apologize, she kept implying me that I was in a serious situation and wasted doctor’s time just because I didn’t inform them I was making an appointment for my dad. She told me to call back to make an appointment again. However, my call got cut off when I used the same phone number to call back. So I had to call them with a different phone number. They don’t show any respect to patients. Whoever that mandarin translator was, shame on you.

I would give this place 0 stars if I can. The care at this hospital is terrible. If you have a loved one, don’t send them here. They do not answer call bells timely, it takes 2 hours for someone to come help. In that time a lot can happen. My Dad has been getting ill care since he went in. I should have pulled him out the next day. But now he had Covid and can’t leave. Find somewhere else to go if you care about the patient.

I was able to walk in for an emergency dental consultation and see a dentist in about 20 minutes. Dr. Kathy Yeung was kind and listened to all of my concerns. I left grateful for the NYC public health system!

Was fourth in line at 9am for COVID testing. Still waiting an hour later - the woman controlling the line is skipping people ahead at her discretion. Empty testing booths, while everybody waits in this bureaucratic mess! 12/19 update: New person/black male managing the line - I got in line at 8:45am and was tested and on my way at 9:02am. There was no line skippery and everything was efficient! 4 stars because I wish they offered longer hours!

Been going to this location for about 50 years. I moved to Buffalo 5 years ago and I still come to see my primary doctor Dr Hanley that I've been having for more than 20 years. When she leaves, I'll stop going there. We lived one block away and my mom still lives there.I also went through 2 pregnancies and my daughters are 31 and 29.I can say I grew up in this hospital and I have no complaints. It was renovated a few years ago and I think it's much better and more organized.

I've been coming here for years and always find most of the check in personnel, nurses & doctors to be caring, helpful and professional. (5 stars) However, my recent visit in July at the Women's clinic turned out to be unpleasant. Let me be clear this review is solely based on the conditions of the waiting area. It seemed obvious the seating/waiting area at the Women's health clinic is in need of replacement and upgrade; fabric on all the sofas are ripped and peeling. It's unsightly and tarnishes the sanitary standard of the hospital. I was glad to find a plastic kids' chair to sit on while I waited for my appointment. I hope this issue will be addressed soon.

My grandmother was in this place for 3 weeks. She was able to walk when she went in and now is unable to walk. She was able to use the bathroom and they put diapers on her. They did absolutely nothing and she now has bed sores from this place. You also can't get in touch with anyone here to find out any information. Find a different place for your love one

Dr. Sharon Robles and her nurse/assistant in adult medicine, team B, are unprofessional and unfriendly. Dont see them if you ever had an abnormal covid test or mightve been exposed to covid, but are covid negative and just want an annual physical. You will be put in isolation for hours, your info will be discussed loudly in the hallway, the nurse/assistant will give you a dramatic 12ft social distance and jump every time you talk. Dont think about complaining, they will deny, gaslight, and blame the receptionist for their medical decisions. Been with them for almost two decades, they are getting worse, no connection to their patients and no accountability for their errors.

Pt and OT staff pretty good-bit the doctor in charge does not return phone calls and is not listed in the directory. Been trying for months to get one basic symptom addressed without success. Now down to short time before discharge and no solution in sight.

I am lying in a hospital bed at this place, gouvereur, right now. I have an injury to my hip that is requiring rehab and rest. I have been told that other patients are here for similar reasons, and many have been prescribed pain medication. My own prescription is for every four hours. I asked for my medication at seven o’clock, more than four hours after my last dose. I was told that their machine ran out of medication, and that it would be between 11:30-12:00 am before they would get more. I am not the only patient they’re doing this to. The whole hospital can’t have run out of medication. Somewhere in this hospital there is pain medication Nurse just doesn’t care, and it’s easier to do nothing

Bad experience with the pediatricians in this hospital, I tried two different ones but they both seem to don't care about their patients. Appointments won't last more than 5 minutes and they don't listen to concerns or ask questions about development of the baby, as a parent I won't recommend to bring your kids to pediatrics here, unless you want them to be treated like one more number and with zero professional ethics and humanity.

I have to say how impressed I was with the entire team at the Eye Clinic, they first gave me an appointment for over a month but assured me that if any cancellations they would reach out and they did; my registration went very smooth and the doctor was so patience with all my questions she made sure to answered everything I had concerns with

I had right knee replacement surgery on January 25th 2023 at NYP. The surgery went well, but most of the nurse's there were disrespectful & lazy. The food was disgusting, & I could not eat it because the so called chef would only cook the meat rare, and when breakfast, lunch, & dinner was served the food was always cold. As a result, I lost a total 0f 14lb's in the 7 day's I spent at NYP & I was very weak. When I got to Gouverneur Nursing Facility, I was able to regain my strength because the nurse's there are AWESOME! They are very sweet & attentive to your needs. The Physical Therapist's are AWESOME AS WELL. They helped me to bend my leg and they also helped me to walk better. I was given cold packs to take down the swelling. Something they never gave me at NYP. The staff at Gouverneur took the time to teach me & explain to me how to become independent, & how to exercise my right knee. The food at Gouverneur, Was Delicious! all the different ethnical dishes's made my stay at gouverneur so wonderful. I actully looked forward to breakfast, lunch, & dinner. I mean, coconut crusted Tilapia with garden salad, fruit, and your choice of juice or soda. Spahgetti & meatballs was simply scrumptous. Thanks to Gouverneur's wonderful cook. I gained my weight & my strength back. I was discharged from Gouverneur in February of 2023, since then Gouverneur has called me several times asking me how am I doing?, have I had any falls?, Or have I gone to the emergency room? & yesterday March 21st, 2023 Gouverneur is still caLling me because they are so caring & concern about my health. I truly thank God that I found Gouverneur Nursing Facility because they nursed me back to health, & they are so loving & caring. If anyone has family member's or friend's that need to be in a Rehabilitation center, Believe me when I say, Gouverneur is the place to be. MAY GOD BLESS GOUVERNEUR NURSING FACILITY & ALL OF THEIR STAFF. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME GET MY LIFE BACK ON TRACK.

I went for a COVID-19 PCR test on Sunday (12/26/21) morning and received the result at 5:31 AM next day. Even if you book an appointment, you have to wait in line. The waiting time is usually 20-30 mins and the line is outside the premises. Once your turn arrives, the required paper work is done (it's faster if you pre register on the MyChart app/website). After than you get a token which can be used at the counters outside for the actual test. Keep checking your email and the MyChart app for the test result. Don't wait for the text message as it can arrive quite late. Please note that the test result doesn't have a QR code on it as of Dec 2021.

People on the phone were extremely useless and unprofessional. The last lady I talking to was very rude. They just kept transferring me more than 10 times and then hung up. I just wanted to refill my medication. Each of them asked for my number to call back but never actually did so after it was "disconnected".

This regarding to the inpatient rehab…I wish I didn’t have to rate this hospital because it’s worse… the hospital had a make over on the outside but that’s it the rest of the hospital looks like Wards Island Psych Institution…the nurses are not caring at all they ignore patients the food is horrible the atmosphere drains the patients. I guess draining insurance companies are why they still in business because the care sucks… my daughter needs intensive OT and she has not received any OT that since she’s been there which has been already 4 days…please do not go to this hospital if you care about your health… I will have my daughter move to another Sub Acute Rehab.

If you love you SO, you wouldn't put them in the snf part of the "hospital". Now aways, the main building acts more like bunch of clinics mashed together, rather than a full functioning hospital.

Just want to say that I wrote bad review on the dental clinic. What I didn't know how much dentistry has changed, now that I know, let me say that the dentist department has done a pretty good job. Especially after my 2nd visit everything was explained to me. So thanks for now. 👍👍

Went for booster shot. Appointment for 3:30pm. Arrived 3pm. Checked in at 3:15pm. Received number 101. By 4 pm they had only seen 4 people and were on patient number 95. I would have been waiting till 4:30-5pm at that pace. Went to Century pharmacy down the street and was seen in 15 minutes and got vaccine.

Dentist Sandra Hoffmeier spent literally 3 minutes for my appointment, refused to answer any questions simply saying "everything is fine" and "I don't understand what you are saying", and then she just left. She behaved very dismissively to my concerns (I had a problem with an 11 years filling). She acted like she's running a charity here. Very disappointing experience.

I came at around 9:30AM to get a covid test. It was very quick, there were only maybe 2 people in front of me. Got my results back on MyChart the next day at noon. The way they're organized is a bit confusing, hence the 4 stars.

With covid restrictions I've been very scared to go in for an annual exam. I was glad to see temperature checks were being done, it was also nice to receive some hand sanitizers upon arriving. Once I got to the 2nd floor i was a little confused by which way to go but staff was friendly and directed me to the proper registration area. The line was long but once I reached the desk i was greeted by a very nice lady (Ms. Ramirez) who right away apologized for the wait time. Apparently they were short staffed. She was pleasant and professional and made the registration process a breeze. I appreciate staff like that who go above and beyond to make that first contact a great one. From check in to check out I had no complaints. 10/10 would recommend.

I'm very disappointment on the treatment my brother is currently in this hospital/nursing. There's a lack of cleanliness. The rooms are filthy. The smell is horrible. When I went there two weeks I basically had to tell the cna to shower my brother. My brother had brain surgery almost 3 months ago. The department of health really needs to go in this hospital for they can see with their own eyes how patients are treated and how filthy this facility is. One star only because without that you can't comment.

Incompetent.. have a sprained or fractured ankle that felt broken and is swollen was told on the phone with nyc heath and hospitals to walk in to this facility. When i walked in he said i have never been treated at this facility and my pcp is in Brooklyn so i could not be seen and for me to go to cityMd instead with my broken ankle. Essentially he could have squeezed me in if i was seen before at this city hospital.. they will stare at you in pain and tell you to go somewhere else. Horrible facility and behavior

My partner went to the Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility after he had a stroke. His physical and occupational therapists Tom and Stacy are stellar - the vey best. They are immensely talented and kind and caring and because of their work he was able to walk again and regained functioning of his arm. The rehab rates 10 stars. But the rest of his experience there was hard. If you go here you desperately need to have an advocate otherwise you will suffer. For example, the staff said he could have a shower once a week - a terrible thing when you are in physical misery and have no control over bodily fluids. When I complained they said patients can get more than one if they ask for it. I demanded help getting him to the shower so I could help him get one every day. Most of the nurses and aides were nice - a few extraordinarily so - while some were mean. One refused to help him go to the bathroom. The nurses' station is hard to find, located in a side corridor, and phone calls there often are not answered. To reach someone you have to call the hotline. Before coming to Gouverneur he was in acute rehab at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell where everyone was spectacularly kind and respectful and immensely helpful. If Gouverneur cares about improving, they could learn best practices from NYP. Anyone can end up in a nursing facility - including those who work in them. Why not treat people as you would wish to be treated. Do not sign any document agreeing to pay what your insurance does not cover. The social worker Ms. Morales demanded that he sign a finance agreement and said he would have to leave if he didn't. She and the patient accounts person in financing also insisted that he fill out a lengthy form to apply for Medicaid or he would have to pay the $750 per day cost to stay there as his Medicare coverage had ended. He already had Medicaid and they still kept insisting he reapply for it. I went to the Medicaid office in person to ask about this and was told that he did not need to reapply, that there is a simple form to fill out to move from Medicaid community-based coverage to nursing home coverage. I told the Gouverneur finance person this and someone above her got back to me and said that he did not need to sign a finance agreement and just had to fill out a short form to switch to nursing home coverage. After this the claim that he was being uncooperative and would be given 30-day notice to leave was dropped. All nursing homes are miserable places. But they don't need to be awful. It is not too much to ask to treat people with caring and respect, especially when they are in physical pain and enduring a terrifying experience. And especially if they are all alone. CMS gave Gouverneur 5 stars and it is probably one of the best by comparison. He was lucky to be there because of the rehab so I switched from 2 to 3 stars.
