Ras is literally a vibe 😍 great ambience, extremely warm staff and unbelievable food. I've eaten both platters and the mock beef, which are so tasty. The squash sambusa is also my personal favorite. Would highly recommend going here - it's also a cute spot for celebration dinners.

I don't see how anyone could give this below a 5 star. I went on Valentine's Day and the bartender was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. I wanted a bit of everything and he knew exactly what I should get based off of my preferences. I can't remember the name of the order but the food was to die for. The vibe was very cool everybody was having a good time, Very good atmosphere. I ordered to go from them as well and the food remained impeccable. 100% would dine there again and would take any vegan friends or not vegan friends.

I came here because a friend recommended it. Overall, it's a great spot for vegans and vegetarians. We were welcomed right away, and everything we ordered was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the cocktails, which were reasonably priced. The sitting areas and the tables Are very small, I wasn't 100% comfortable. :( But the food and service covering for it ! However, I was a bit surprised by the suggested tip range on the bill, which seemed quite high, starting from 20% to 27%. Although tipping is optional, seeing such a range can make you feel pressured to tip within those limits. I think a more reasonable starting point for tipping options should be around 12% and up.

Definitely on the pricier side for what I would want to pay - especially coming from dc where the quality of the Ethiopian food is far superior and at a more reasonable price point. That being said - very tasty and great service. We loved our cocktails too.

This is hands down the best vegan restaurant I've been too. The waiters are so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great. We came here for lunch, the presentation of the food is perfect and everything was so delicious! We will definitely come back to this AMAZING restaurant!

Stepping into Ras Plant Based, my partner and I were instantly embraced by what I’d describe as a cozy and organic energy. My partner had only ever ordered delivery from Ras so he was happy to experience the space and finally dine in. Although the dining room was a tad crammed, it didn’t bother us much. As someone eager to explore Ethiopian cuisine and a lover of vegan food, Ras Plant Based proved to be an excellent introduction for me, earning a solid 5-star rating. For drinks, I ordered the Smoked Hibiscus Punch, a surprising yet well-balanced blend that carried a hint of bitterness , sweetness and smokiness all in one. Despite typically having an aversion to smoked drinks, this one proved to be a pleasant departure from my norm. My partner got the honey wine which he had tried years ago and instantly fell in love with. The difficulty he’s had in sourcing this particular wine heightened his satisfaction upon discovering it was an option on the menu. The waitress was kind enough to provide us with some stores in the area that carry this wine so we can buy on our own time. For appetizers, the Lentil Sambusa set the tone for an exceptional meal—flaky, crispy, and perfectly seasoned lentils paired with an amazing hot sauce. No kidding, the heat in everything was on point as someone who loves spice. For mains, I got the Ras Special Tibs which is made with seitan. This dish was such an explosion of flavor with richness and depth in every bite. The sautéed onion added another dimension to it as well with its crunch. The injera underneath soaked in all the Berbere sauce keeping it nice and moist. The Ethiopian spiced fries followed suit, delivering a satisfying crunch and a delightful blend of spices, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to flavor. My partner got the Ras breakfast which also stood out. It came with mung bean protein which was their version of eggs and jackfruit. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I must add that our server was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. She provided us excellent recommendations and enhanced our overall experience with her positive energy and passion for the restaurant’s food. With its entirely vegan menu, Ras Plant Based stands out as a gem in the world of plant-based cuisine. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and eagerly anticipate my next dining experience there.

Absolutely incredible food. Hands down some of the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. EVERYTHING has such incredible flavour, nothing is too spicy to handle. The decor was also impeccable. 100% planning on coming back multiple times. There is so much variety in the food and the drinks are great too!

Decided to try something new. Although I thought the food was okay, the presentation was beautiful. It was healthy and filling. I also loved the vibe of the restaurant. It was cosy and the bartender was great. I would like to see some African staffs though. I would recommend this restaurant and would probably come again for the drinks which tasted wonderful.

8.5 amazing!! Sambusa is must order appetizer, sauce was great. Platters with injera really really good and wholesome and filling. Both platters good, probably prefer the less mild one. Maybe try lunch bowls next time

Really awesome experience! We had the lentil burger and pancakes and both were delicious. Priced super well and the cocktails and drinks were also delicious! Really loved the atmosphere both inside and outside. Love the vibes so much!!!

Loved the decor and vibe of this place. Our hostess was able to seat us immediately. The food was beautifully presented and the portions were perfectly filling. We had the Tej with the food. And finished our meal with the interestingly spiced Ethiopian coffee! Overall it was a bit pricier compared to regular Ethiopian fare.

Absolutely loved this place. My lady and I had walked by it a couple of times in the last few months, but it's always been packed. Tried to make a reservation online before but was unable to. But last night, after a bad experience at a nearby restaurant, we decided to check you RAS out. To our surprise, it wasn't packed. We went in and sat down, and from the moment we were seated, we felt like family. The staff was incredible and the food was delicious. The entire ambiance was peace and tranquility. We started out getting the sambusas (I think that's what they were called), and they were incredible. Then we shared an entree and a platter. There was enough to bring home, and I actually just finished it a few hours ago. Man. Then the drinks were incredible. I don't drink alcohol and it's normally hard to find a good nonalcoholic beverage that feels good while you're out with friends or on a date. I had the "Pina Faux-Lada." It was amazing! My only regret is that I didn't get two of them. Lol seriously. Anyway, we rate this place a 10/10 and am excitedly looking forward to visiting again for the brunch menu. Peace and Love, SR

Food was delicious, we ordered a center plate to share and we tried lots of options, highly recommended. Atmosphere and the place is really nice, wall paintings and decor really suits the place, when we first arrived there was live music (Dj). Waiters and service was also good, friendly and fast.

Hands down, the best Ethiopian Fusion cuisine in Brooklyn. I’ve been twice in a week. Every dish is flavorful and visually elevated from the traditional Ethiopian style plating. And it’s all vegan! “Days in the East” is THEE best mocktail I’ve ever had! Ras Plant Based is the new, now and next generation of Ethiopian cuisine! Issa Vibe!

Absolutely spectacular spot! All vegan Ethiopian food in Brooklyn. We had a fabulous time for lunch with live music in a colorful atmosphere. The food was phenomenal and flavorful at a great value as well. This place is not to be missed vegan or not you will leave full and happy.

This is one of the very few places in NYC that truly deserve a 5 star rating. Everything just perfect and amazing. Decor, food, drinks, hospitality!! I don't remember having such good Ethiopian Food last time. Very highly recommended.

The food was delicious. The injera bread was on point. We had two different people wait on our table and they were equally kind and helpful. There were a couple of items listed on the menu that were not available but they were so apologetic about it that I couldn't take any stars off for that.

Ras was a delight to the culinary senses!! I’ve had Ethiopian food in the US before and not only do these vegan versions match the quality, most of them exceeded expectations in inventive flavors and overall deliciousness!! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the inside (and sweet outdoor seating) is beautiful and fun. Highly recommend this locally owned lovely place!

Food is delicious, one of the best Ethiopian food I ever had. We ordered lentil and squash sambusa, and we really liked the squash one. We also tried both of the platters and they are very good. We had some leftover with extra injera roll to take home.

I'm not one to usually gravitate towards Ethiopian food, but the dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, and the service was attentive and friendly.

  • 5/5 Niki 1 year ago on Google
These two dishes seem to be their signature dishes, so we ordered them. Both are so filling and delicious! There are a variety of bean purees and sauteed veggies cooked in some exotic flavourful spices in these two dishes, the dish closer to the camera is spicier while the other one is milder and more salty. I personally like the spicier one better but both are very delicious and totally worth the price. We also ordered two 'mocktails', and they are surprisingly creamy and delicious! Overall it's a great spot! Vegan food can be flavorful and fun!

Delicious Ethiopian vegan meal in Crown Heights! I recommend a reservation, though we got lucky a table two up on a Saturday 6:30pm evening, after a short wait their bar. Had a great visit and even though I'm a meat lover, I'm 💯 returning here. Between us two, we shared a vegetable platter plus the seitan (Ras Tibs). Great portions and reasonably priced. Wonderful ambience, with great decor for inside and outside dining, friendly service and attentive wait staff.

Came here on Father’s Day and I must say I was pleasantly impressed! It was my husband and I’s first time eating Ethiopian cuisine. I’d describe it as a culinary experience of eating different flavors and tasting different sauces. I’d definitely come here again!

What a great finding. Plant based food with Ethiopian roots. The menus are diverse, and I appreciate that they offer the dinner menu during brunch in addition to the brunch menu, even though this one is also interesting on its own. The breakfast set and the platters are great samplers. The mocktail with coconut cream was delicious, though dessert-like. The staff was friendly, proactive, and gave good tips on the menu. The decor is part plant based, part colorful art covering the walls.

First time having Ethiopian food! This place has some really nice selections, the sourdough is so yummy but we really liked the rice bowls. Went for lunch around 2pm and the place was still packed. A bit noisy so it’s hard to hear the person in front of you (if warm out definitely prefer the outdoor seating). Will stop by again when in the area

Vegetarian and vegan Ethiopian in a hip neighborhood. Not only the food was amazing and waiters super friendly, but the decors and the murals were just mind blowing. You just feel happy sitting there. And they got vegan desserts that are to die for.

Amazing vegan food! My husband and I came here for New Year’s Eve weekend. We enjoyed a delicious lunch platter. The food tasted fresh and was colorful. I used to live in Crown Heights off Franklin Ave and it was SO fun to come back to the area to see Ras there. I’ve been vegan for a long time and it’s wonderful to have more vegan options in Brooklyn. The decor of the restaurant was awesome and color. I also loved all of the hanging plants! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. 10/10 recommend! 🔥💖

One of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn, and surprisingly, also one of my favorite brunch places. I always get a more traditional platter dish with a brunch item (the French toast is phenomenal). Every dish is so flavorful and balanced. I always bring my non vegan friends here and they love it.

I hate to be this person, but I honestly don’t know why this place is nearly 5-star. I WILL say that the service was impeccable. And I want to give a HUGE shout out to our server, Krystle, who was absolutely phenomenal! She gave amazing descriptions of the food, dope suggestions, and was overall personable and such a sweetheart. Give that girl a bonus!! As far as the food. It looks good in videos but it was HELLA MID. Just sub par all around. The Mac and cheese was not hittin’, the food didn’t even come out hot; it was like nuke-warm. I hate warm food. The appetizer that I ordered was served cold, which is the way it comes but I wish I had known that because it didn’t really satisfy me the way I had hoped. The platter me and my guest shared was good… as in O-KAY. But NOTHING eaten was spectacular. Dessert was also… eh. I’m used to going to restaurants and truly being BLOWN AWAY by the food. I usually get invited to restaurants to write reviews for this reason. Everything was average as hell here, unfortunately. I will say, I had an AMAZING Mocktail, so shout out to the bartender! But I will never return for dinner. Maybe brunch is better? Who knows if I’ll give it a second chance. We’ll see.

Ras PLANT BASED BLEW ME AWAY!! I absolutely had a wonderful experience here the other evening after I had an enjoyable time soaking up all the beauty that I witnessed hours prior at the Deans Collection Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum! The service was exceptional and our waitress was phenomenal. It’s bumming me out that I can’t remember her name but she was great. Very hospitable and personable and offered up honest suggestions. The dimly lit ambiance when you walk in gives cozy and welcoming! The art on the walls is loud yet whispers and offers a nice complement to the flavors of the food. I didn’t enjoy a cocktail but I indulged in a local spicy ginger beer that was cool and very gingery just the way I love it. The Sambusas reminded me of a more delicate Indian Samosa. It was flaky and packed with flavor from the lentil and squash. The deep red sauce that accompanied it was DELICIOUS! I could sip that sauce by itself. I should’ve asked what it was, next time I will. The avocado salad was exceptionally bright with the high range of acidity I experienced my husband was not as fond of it as I was. The guacamole with the injera chips was also good. The chips were harder than I expected but were very good. The guacamole was seasoned well. I ordered the Mercato platter with Injera (the classic Ethiopian fermented bread) and my husband ordered the Ras Tibs with the turmeric brown rice. I demolished that platter and got more Injera to soak up everything. The Gomen (braised collard greens) and Missir (red lentil stew with the Berbere sauce) had to be my favorites on the plate. The only gripe I have was the space, my husband is 6’7” with long arms and we had to combine two tables to be comfortable with our food and drinks. That was the only issue! If you looking for exceptional service, flavorful food, and a good time go to Ras Plant Based. I will be back!!! Thank you for a great leap year birthday!!! With love!

Incredible vegan Ethiopian food in an adorable setting. Treated myself and my 4 year old, who tried everything despite significant spice levels! We got the Mercato and I want to try everything else. Probably could have done without the mashed avocado (though the injera chips were amazing!).

The platters were full of flavor! Service was outstanding. They explained the menu and how it worked and recommended some delicious drinks. They also didn’t hawk the table but were still quite attentive. This place has immaculate vibes!

1st time at this Ethiopian restaurant and definitely will return. Everything from the service, appetizers, drinks and food were excellent. You will get full and may need a box to go. 🙂

  • 5/5 Benny A. 1 year ago on Google
I had the waiter order for me since the place gets a bit dark so I really couldn’t see the menu. Also wanted to be spontaneous. It was a great decision having him order for me based on my food allergies. Food was fun, little spicy, culturally warm and welcoming. One of the best vegan spots I’ve ever tried. TD was very accommodating and helpful. Will come back for sure.

I love this Ethiopian restaurant. I always get the vegan combination platter, however, my husband got one of their bowls at lunch time and it was soooo delicious I might have to get it the next time I am back in NYC. It's the bowl with the spicy guacamole....oh yum...the flavors are making me crave for my next visit

  • 5/5 Catherine I. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent vegan spot with pretty affordable plates and typical cocktail costs. We got the two platters and split them between two people! (More than enough food 100% — 2 ppl could def share 1) Our whole service team was excellent and attentive. Loved the vibes — music at times was a bit loud. Will definitely be going back and bringing even more folks with me!

  • 5/5 Mafe L. 2 years ago on Google
It's delicious, I thought it would be bland with salads and no dressing. I was wrong! The flavors are wonderful and the beautifully platted dishes left me wanting more and more. Sambusa perfect! Loved the flaky crust and fresh mixed veggies packed inside. The Mercato platter had a unique mix of different textures and spices yet they blended so well. Lastly, the tiramisu was so light and satisfying topped with fresh berries. The drinks were great. I'd dine again and again. The staff was also amazing, very attentive, and welcoming. Thank you so much for creating great organic, locally sourced food and VEGAN!

I had a great experience eating at Ras. The restaurant has a great decor, atmosphere, attentive staff, and the food is mocked with flavor. I recommend the Mercato dish to get some spice on. Excellent quality experience in this restaurant.

Its a cute little place! Servers are so friendly and help you out on your first time! I recommend doing both platters! Both are so flavorful and delicious! Shows you how amazing plant based food is! The Ethiopian Beer and coffee is very good! Will definitely be coming back!!

  • 5/5 Tanner A. 2 years ago on Google
Phenomenal Vegan Ethiopian spot, worth all the hype and then some. Possibly the best I’ve had in the city. We started with the smashed avocado, which was basically guacamole with chips made from injera. The chips were so addictive we wanted to get another order to take some home—they’re almost like pita chips with more tang. The Mango Mimita was excellent with the perfect level of spice. We got the mushroom tibs which were spiced and cooked to perfection, highly recommended. Both platters were incredible, and if you have 3-4 people I recommend getting both, but if you were only getting one I recommend the Mercato as every single dish was perfect. Special Tibs were delicious too, very happy we got those with the platters. Perfect seasoning and texture. Just remarkable, we will definitely be back many times.
