I stopped by recently and while getting my food, met the really lovely family who has established Happy Malaysia, which used to be Happy Veggie and managed by another family. Happy Veggie was entirely vegetarian, but from what I understand, Happy Malaysia differs in that it has some of the same vegetarian options, but ALSO has some new *halal meat* options and other distinct menu items, alhamdullilah! The food is still delicious, the restaurant is as clean and cozy as ever, and I’m excited to try the kuih (?) in particular that are stocked in the fridge, in sha Allah. They are just too cute :)

I was pleasantly surprised to find a fully vegetarian restaurant in China Town with great reviews. Service was friendly and the highlights were the crispy mock chicken and the peach drink. However, the curry puffs were quite spicy.

The spam masubi was good. I liked the sweet and sour too was tasty, enough to share. For the amount you get and the quality of food is the price is fair. Clean and casual spot. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was quick and came hot. I took a non vegan friend and liked the food. I will be coming back to try other things on the menu. There’s plenty of things to try on the menu, one of the better Asian vegan spots to go to. Definitely recommend.

My sister and I came here for a weeknight dinner, and the service and food were both phenomenal. We ordered like half of the menu, but our server was super attentive, food came out very quickly, and everything was super tasty. It can sometimes be difficult to find good vegetarian options in Chinatown, but this did not disappoint and I will definitely be back!

Coming again after 5month, and this place is still AMAZING! Can't recommend it enough .. 1st visit: It was our dream to be able to eat vegetarian Chinese food, and this place really satisfied this craving. The food is so flavorful and we'll definitely come again to try more items as their menu is very diverse! Yogurt drinks are fresh and made in-store, they're tasty 👌🏾

Great service and the food is great. We even got the sushi take out. Check out the Purple Rice Yogurt. It's tasty and also great for the blood sugar levels. The place is small but if you don't mind being tight and cozy then it is your place. There is also a enclosed space upstairs by the sidewalk if it is too cozy in the basement. Definitely worth it to try out. Be mindful, there is no meat here...

Gourmet foods, and make us feel home. We had drumstick soy chicken, Hor Fun, nasi lemak, curry puffs, spring rolls, stir fried noodles, and durian Cendol. Authentic Malaysian vegetarian foods. Owner is from West Malaysia. Very friendly and hygienic place.

Great vegetarian food. Nothing has real meat. Definitely a great option for those eating vegetarian or vegan. The young man in the restaurant was super nice, welcoming and friendly. He even got us free tea while we waited for our take out order to be ready. 100% recommend this place. Food quality and service are too notch!

The food was nicely made, but the quantity wasn’t that much. I would recommend the mango rice it’s sooo good but the other food was decent probably for my taste. The dumplings were dencent I have had better before.

I did like the food but there were definitely improvements in service I believe could help. It was an order on touch screen kind of place and there was a $20 min purchase which made things more difficult than needed to start. The dish is $13, but then you need to find various small items to put yourself above 20. I’m fine to try it all for the experience, but ideally I would have liked to just order the meal and drink. Maybe this place wasn’t intended for the solo eater. As for the service itself, my dish was served without the chicken. It seemed I needed to ask about it for it to be served, but it may have just needed time to be ready. Ideally, the prepared dish would be served together to avoid confusion. No water was served nor was there a water dispenser or cups. The good was that I quite enjoyed the assortment of unique (and new to me) flavors in the Chicken Rendang dish. The con of the food was that the value wasn’t there, even with the assortment. For a meal of required value $20 and higher, I would expect at least more than one chicken drumstick’s worth of chicken.

This was my first time here, couldn’t decide what to order from small menu placed on the table but the guy told me he has more menus inside, he went for them, then I decide for the string beans but he pointed out that I could get it from the lunch special section which I had not seen, I thought he was very honest and not just selling his words were: if you get from the lunch special it comes with soup or a roll, so I went for the special and I tipped him well. Food was delicious and the amount was plenty. I will be back here more often… very happy 😃

One out the newer veg restaurant in the neighborhood; restaurant staffs are certainly very amiable. The menu isn't crazy large but a wide selection. My gf and I certainly enjoyed dining here but found bit of inconsistency (saltiness and quality) across different visits. Such as some of the sushi roll falls apart really easily.

Quaint vegan spot in NYC Chinatown. Has lots of great traditional options but I was disappointed in sushi only being for weekends :( Overall servers seemed busy managing indoor and outdoor orders but I loved their vegan steamed dumplings!

Omg, this place was amazing! Don’t remember the name of my dish, but smth with veggie soup with tofu, it was mind blowingly good! I still vividly remember the taste after two weeks. My partner’s dish was a bit less exciting, but still good. We stayed on a terrace. In general it’s a vegetarian place in a middle of the Chinese district. Great option!👏🏻

Hands down the best food I’ve ever had. We ordered fried mushroom, vegan drumsticks, fried rice and noodles, vegan kung pao and edamame beans and I honestly struggled to know what to eat because every single thing was amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend to everyone (veggie, vegan, meat eater). Ps order honeydew juice 100/10

One of those places where less is absolutely more. Good food - healthy and tasteful and you can see the kitchen preparation . Polite staff, fast service and generous portions - I am a 6 f tall guy and 210 pounds and couldn't make the full fried todu with veggies entirely, so big it is. Affordable and a must go place for both, vegetarians and vegans , and for those who want to try a good food in the heart of Chinatown.

What a great family owned place! One of the best Asian vegan places in the city. Definitely going back. Worth the 1.5hr trip from my town 1 month later we came back and great food. But it was cold inside.

They started selling food with meat now! Options are limited, but very flavorful. And the staff are super nice and helpful. Will definitely return!

We happened on this place wandering down Mott Street on Chinese New Year, after accidentally passing by the place I originally had in mind. Most of the eateries at the beginning of the block had lines outside, but Happy Malaysia didn't. The setup is bright and clean but basic - a few tables and a pickup window below street level, and one of those post-pandemic outdoor dining booth out front, disposable dishes. You order by phone with a QR code or at a kiosk. The prices and wait time were very reasonable and the food was excellent. We paid about $60 for two vegetarian entrees, 3 sides, and one beverage. It's so nice to know that you can still find a random hole-in-the-wall in NYC and have a great dining experience!

Very upset with my first time here. I ordered takeaway and they handed me the completely wrong order. I didn’t realize until I already too the subway home. I tried calling and no one picks up. This isn’t even worth HALF of what I paid for and is WRONG. I order 12 FRIED dumplings and chicken curry with a side of fried rice. WHAT IS THIS?

SO yummy. Took my vegetarian friend here to enjoy chinatown, and she loved it! I am a meat eater and lover, and was a bit wary. After eating the food, I was quick to forget it wasn't real meat it was so yummy and flavorful. Got the fried rice, musubi, and momo buns (not pictured, ate it too fast)

You want a good vegetarian/vegan option in Chinatown, go here. It's lovely. Small. People are amazingly nice. It gets crowded. It's easy to miss as it's downstairs. Go, have the Thai ice tea, try some of the food, meet nice people, explore things you've never had before, just be brave and enjoy yourself. Vegan spam musubi is actually really great. Be warned, it's hot not cold. Still damn good.

Super clean and friendly spot with very tasty veg and vegan options at a super low price. Got a HUGE a veggie soup for $9.99 and 4 Veggie MoMo buns for $5ish. Could easily feed 2.

Me and my parents wanted really good authentic Chinese food while we visited New York, and this place provided that plus more! Our waiter was very sweet (and cute), and the atmosphere was very nice. Would definitely come back again next time I visit ChinaTown

Tasty food but could do with more veggies. Flavour was as good as what I have had in Singapore.

Most food that are running around $15. It’s slightly cheaper like $3 that other restaurants. Only problem is that the portion of the dishes are 1/2 to 1/3 full then the other restaurants. Food is ok. Pretty quiet when visit. Why? $15 for noodle like enclosed.

Family Run Young man eating an orange in the kitchen I wish the veggie meat came with rice or solid vegetables, it only came with a bed of cabbage which was a let down. Do yourself a favor and get a side of rice. The less Americanized curry dishes were much larger and very flavorful. Order the spam musubi. Large and tasty, though could use a sauce for dipping.

Exactly what the name says, a happy place to eat, nothing standout but it has all your usual favourites, made very well. I had the salt & pepper chicken with rice lunch deal. More a cafe than a restaurant but def worth a visit.

Really good tasty fried rice and tons of other vegetarian options I have not tried yet. Healthy spinach dumplings too, completely full of spinach (not sure what I expected). Good taste and portion value, I would come back for that alone. They also let me eat here despite having a pickup order because it started to rain, which was nice.

The food is quite enjoyable even for a meat lover however fails to compare to the standards of other nearby vegan restaurants or options. However the price and its related quality match up fairly well. I must mention that many of the careful and attractive details displayed on their menu's dishes and storefront images are not what you will receive. Instead you still get a good meal but done lazily in comparison to what is showcased.

One of the better vegetarian/ vegan restaurants I've been too. Great service and food. I had the Fried Taro, Noodle Soup, Fried Rice, Spam Musubi, and their homemade dumplings (not pictured). The fried rice and musubi are a must try if you go. Will be back.

We have been vegetarian for 10 years. New York have a lot of amazing vegan restaurants but definitely not this one. The price is quite high compared to the portion and quality of food.

Awesome taste !! Fully vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown is rare but I have never tasted vegan orange chicken, vegetarian sushi that was so tasty. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.

Best vegetarian food ever omg. The food portion is big and you can barely taste the difference. The waiter is also very kind. He assisted me in picking the right dish. I’m happy with the overall experience!
