I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long and I’m glad I finally able to after lockdown! We went for dine in and everything was beyond delicious! The tofu dumplings were truly the best dumplings I’ve ever had from any non-veg/vegetarian/vegan Asian restaurant in NYC, the filling was so flavorful and spiced just right to create a wonderful punch of a bite every time! The dough and filling were also in perfect portion, a thin layer of chewy dough with the ideal serving size of filling inside! We also had the mapo tofu - completely delicious with an expertise balance in flavor profile between the texture and the spice! The general tso’s chicken was also so flavorful and crispy! In addition, the service was beyond lovely, you can truly tell just how much the chefs and owners care about customer satisfaction, ready and willing to adjust the flavors and make sure everything is tailored just right for all individual taste preferences. Vivian is such a doll and wonderfully genuine gem of a person too! The atmosphere is so warm and friendly and you immediately feel welcomed from the start, just stepping in! Completely worth the food and experience ten times over!

How did I miss this place before? It's a very yummy vegetarian joint with a few dishes including egg. But most items being pretty much vegan. I love that this place is not fussy or pretentious. But it is also not a bullet proof glass take out joint. It's just about the food and the staff is very positive as well. I really enjoyed the classic soul and R&B they were playing. In contrast to the hipster tunes or top 40 you often hear at most places. Nice atmosphere, and not too crowded for a smaller place. I suppose they do a lot of takeout business? On to the food. Everything I have tried here is excellent. It is right on that line between ordinary and fusion. Some ingredients are a little different. But for the most part it's what you expect from a Chinese place. Except vegetarian. I appreciate that the spicy dishes aren't watered down. They have actual heat and bite. Plenty of flavor. Admittedly I'm ecstatic over this place because I no longer have to go all the way into Manhattan for vegetarian dim sum. Plan on trying the entire menu eventually! I'm going to rope in my Brooklyn friends for meals at this place whenever we are in the area. Support your vegetarian businesses!

Other than great food, service, and atmosphere, they offer box sets which is the way to go. With the box sets, you get whatever your main order is plus the broccoli, shitake in garlic sauce on cauliflower, and choice of sides. They also offer healthy drinks like Vitamin 123 and Just Beet It. And the cool thing about this vegan place is that they offer stuff not found in Chinese restaurants; not even specialty ones. If you don't feel like Chinese food, you can get the Xi'an Burger or the combo which gives you yam fries, iced tea or hot and sour soup. They deliver but my wife ate inside. Like I said, atmosphere is great as the sitting is cozy and the customers were polite too.

Been meaning to come to this place for a while, and was very pleased with the meal. I ordered the Spicy Pot—basically a version of Szechuan dry pot—and it was spot on. All the flavor and heat I was hoping for, tasted authentic. I wished they didn’t serve in plastic containers while dining in, but it made taking home leftovers easy. The chili oil dumplings were also good (and scalding hot, be sure to let them cool down before consuming). Can’t wait to try other menu items!!

I grew up eating Chinese food, and I'm not a vegetarian. The food here is amazing. Flavorful, fresh, healthy, and honestly, if I didn't know the soup dumplings were vegetarian I would have thought they were pork. Plus, the lunch boxes have huge portions and the service is so friendly! I recommend the spicy yuba. 🌶❤️

I have ordered takeaway from here 3 times and it's been 3 times that I have had a perfect meal. This place is hands down the best chinese food I have had since moving to America last year. And its all vegetarian?! I'm not even vegetarian and yet this place will convert anyone. Just had the roast "pork" with soup dumplings and yet again it was a winner. Highly recommend!

Really delicious. We go every time we're in the area. Only thing I wouldn't necessarily recommend is the burger. It's tasty but not what you think of when you decide to order burger 🙂 Besides that had the dumpling sampler, wontons in chili oil, mini buns, and soup dumplings. Can't wait to go back.

One of my favorite take out places in the neighborhood. I’ve been here plenty of times now and can’t get over it. The food is amazing and I believe all (if not, most) of their food is vegan. The mapo tofu is unbelievable, I order it every time I go. The wontons in soup is another go to of mine. I recently had the chili oil noodles and it was also fantastic! The prices are also pretty reasonable.

I love this place. Me and my bf come here all the time from Astoria just to eat their delicious food. The people are so friendly, including the Super Master Chef in the kitchen, Vivian and Kyle. We love the Cedar pine fried rice, the hot & sour soup and the Ma Po Tofu with purple rice. Can’t wait to eat here again.

Tofubox is a solid place to grab a delicious vegan meal ✌️ We had a Buddha Bowl with purple rice, Soup Dumplings, Steamed Buns, and miso soup.. and everything was great! It’s awesome to be able to get dumplings and buns that are both tasty and vegan. A lot of the main course entrees can be made gluten free, which is awesome! Just ask when you place the order and they’ll use gluten free soy sauce. More of takeaway spot, but they do have 3-4 tables inside. My only complaint is that they use a lot of single use plastic, even if you eat in the restaurant. Some ideas to reduce waste: use biodegradeable bags, eliminate plastic silverware, use real plates for dine in, and use paper takeaway containers instead of the plastic ones.

I love Tofubox and cannot sing their praises enough! Veggie/vegan Chinese takeout with generous portions and consistent high quality. I drive 25 min from Queens to get food from here. Seriously, it’s that good. My usuals: -Veggie Szechuan beef -Singapore noodles -Lion’s mane mushroom platter -Chili oil wontons -Steamed veggie wontons -Veggie general tso’s soy protein -Lunch boxes are a good deal to try a sample of various items Do yourself a favor and get some food here.

A nice place to get some fresh and delicious Chinese food. I ordered vegetable dumplings which were folded perfectly and very flavorful. I also got scallion pancake which was perfectly flaky and crisp. The service was so nice. I got take out and the lady kindly gifted me a little package of vegetarian beef from China.

At first glance, Tofubox is a small, unassuming Chinese vegan spot. But after having dinner here, I can say this is one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. Lots of options on the menu, great service, and most importantly, large portions of delicious vegan food.

We got a bunch of takeout, there's nothing wrong with the food but it's definitely the worst veggie Chinese I've had in Brooklyn. Just not the right flavors, bland. Worse than panda Express. I love that it's vegetarian but I won't eat this again

So delicious!! I’m not vegetarian but I was really impressed by the food here. Izzy was super kind and helpful, great service and great food. Good portions, fairly priced, packed with flavor, and in a nice casual setting. Had the mapo tofu with purple rice and pumpkin coconut patty/cake (dessert vibe). So much more I wanted to try — will definitely be back soon:)

this place is so so good. i got the crispy noodle special, which was so delicious. i really like vegan/vegetarian food that has a focus on actual veggies instead of fake meat and this place delivered. the chili oil wontons was by far the best thing we ate. highly highly recommend

Good food, great service, nice causal setting. I ordered the Xi’an chili oil noodles (their spice level was mild) and my friend had the pan grill veggie-chicken lunch special with the purple rice. We both found the food to be both flavorful and satisfying and the ice tea was perfectly sweetened.

Was very delicious and tasty! I am not a vegetarian so I was unsure if this would be filling but I ate it for lunch and didn’t even need to eat dinner! So much flavor and variety, would definitely recommend, I got the general tso’s meal.

Great vegan food and I really enjoyed my dine-in experience today. I totally forgot to take pictures; I ate everything before I realized I didn't take a photo haha. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for some Asian vegan food!

I’m not vegetarian but I ordered delivery from Tofubox. The food arrived quickly, was delivered by a lovely, friendly person, and it was delicious! I got the wontons in chili oil which had a great but not overwhelming kick to it, as well as the Singapore mai fun which was also yummy. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Unexpectedly came to Tofubox. It's a family run business with mom, dad, and the daughter/son. The food was sooo good! Great service. They did a good job explaining the menu. I recommend the "pork" combo, but everything we got was yummy. Good for non-vegans too!

They popped up in my delivery app and their ma po tofu (extra spicy) just coats my mouth in that delicious burning feeling that I crave. The buns and dumplings are also fantastic. Definitely worth trying out, vegan or not.

Incredible lunch special and such nice service! If you’re looking for really tasty food that’s also super comforting, Tofubox is the right choice. My favorite is the Braised Tofu lunch special if you’re not into spicy food.

One of the best Chinese food experiences I’ve ever had. Vegetarian ma po tofu which I see once a decade. Every item I ordered was amazing. Tofu dumplings, scallion pancake, Xi’an noodles, all delicious. This will be in my immediate lineup replacing almost any other in the area.
