Black Rican Vegan Pop-Up

Restaurant Vegan restaurant

👍👍 Some of the best vegan food I’ve had. Love that she is repping our Puertorican/Boricua culture. Her team is super nice! Get there early to be one of the first folks in line because the food is that good! :) but if you end up waiting a while, I say it’s worth the wait. The Flancocho is my favorite! People often mention vegan, good, cheese, wait, order, business, love,

My stomach hurt after my meal and drink. I don’t like how they have the sauce containers sitting directly on top of my food or other cooking practices I saw. It’s not sanitary at all. But food was okay taste wise. 2.5 stars

I discovered Lyana on IG, I was instantly drawn in by the pics of her food. I saw the lines get crazy, so make sure to get there hours before she even opens(I’ve seen ppl bring chairs). But on the weekends she does pick up and deliveries..Now the food😩😩 omg I can go on and on about how delicious her food is! I’m happy she’s offering the community this. I love telling everyone I know about BlackRicanVegan, especially people who’ve never tried vegan dishes.

The menu confused me, chopped cheese no egg roll… I thought “what!? I wanted the egg roll so now you only have a chopped cheese sandwich ?” She was “NOoooooo Herald, it is an egg roll but without egg” I ordered it and moved on …. It wasn’t bad for vegan food. I wanted to wash things down with a drink and I saw the 6$ moxtail (jackfruit) and assumed it must be a very tasty cocktail 🍹, it was not, it is a simple stuffed empanada that doesn’t add much to her menu, she should replace it with her lentil patty 💯. There are some holes in your naming conventions game. This place is overhyped, it is good, but not great, it’s greasy vegan street food.

Is there a ten star option? Her food is so good, extremely creative, and quality ingredients! Pleaseee keep in mind that vegan does not necessarily equate to healthy... this is comfort food and was I comfy! I had her food via delivery and she gave great directions on the best way to re-heat. I've yet to try a pop-up, but as with any pop-up, you go expecting a line because the demand is there for a reason! Patience is a virtue and you will be well rewarded!

My partner and i were fortunate enough to try this chef’s amazing food at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn last year and we can’t wait to go back! Everything was absolutely incredible, you could really taste the love in the food. We got the jackfruit chicharrones with mofongo, the alcapurrias, and guava and cheese empanada. We loved her food so much that we pre-ordered her cookbook as soon as it came out! Def gotta take a trip over to see her again soon!

So delicious! First introduced to their food through NYTimes, and then again at a pop up event in LA. So so good, check them out.

I am a loyal customer to this establishment. Love an Afro Latina doing her thing! Today is the last day that I will order food from here. I was excited to order the vegan bacalaitos and BRV bowl. When I got my food, the bacalitos were two big pieces, nothing like what was advertised on the site, and drenched in oil. The oil was so bad that it messed up my BRV bowl. In addition, it was supposed to be made with hearts of palm and all I got was salty hard fried batter! I had to throw it away. So upset that $45 dollars went down the drain!

Excellent vegan food. I’m not a vegan but I like to be meat and dairy free when I can. Let me tell you! This place doesn’t sacrifice flavor in food. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve eaten from this pop up. Excellent

I’ve been following this woman on IG for a few years now, but every time I see her at an event (Harlem Night Market, Smorgasburg, etc) the line was way too long. I finally tried her food and OMG it was worth the wait! I’m not even vegan! The moxtail empanada and the oyster mushroom burger are insanely good. If you see her set up anywhere, don’t miss out. I can’t wait to try her food again.

GREAT FOOD! Even better service. We traveled from Philadelphia to check out NYC’s vegan options and were highly pleased with the Black Rican. We are so fast I forgot to take pictures lol

I have enjoyed everything that I have tried from Black Rican Vegan's pop ups in Prospect Park. I also bought the cookbook and love the tone. I'm excited to keep eating their food and try my hand and making some.

Black Rican vegan have their finger on the pulse of innovative, creative ,and original vegan recipes, their menu is one of a kind you won’t find certain items nowhere else but Black Rican Vegan, from the chi chi plater ,chicharrón made from jackfruit to the famous chopped cheese no egg roll ,and the mouth watering oyster mushroom burger. I’ve been vegan for 4 years now and I make it a point to try the mac and cheese at every vegan West Indian/ Soul food spots and BRV have the best hands down always a must have, because the secret ingredient is love and you can taste it, I’m officially addicted to the coquito tres leches cake for dessert, the fresh ingredients and seasoning take me back to my abuelas kitchen in Puerto Rico. If Black Rican vegan can bottle up that nostalgia when they eventually open up there own storefront restaurant not only will they be a NY staple but, well on there way to becoming a Billion Dollar business

The Chi-Chi platter was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed everything on the plate. I also loved the Fried Oyster Mushrooms with the 2 sides. I will definitely order more food in the near future. 😋

This is the most delicious food i have ever had! I am not even vegan but considering it because of finding this gifted chef! Thank you so much for bringing your magic to the community of the Bronx! I do not care how long is the wait, THIS FOOD IS SO WORTH IT!

The food was not good. A big problem with vegan food is that it’s a hit or miss, especially when it comes to veganizing hispanic food. Maybe I had my hopes up too high but my order was not good. I tried them once at a fair and something about the energy of the staff and pop-up just felt so off and weird. The only thing I'd recommend are the chop cheese no egg rolls, but even that is way too salty & has more dough than actual filling. Most of the reviews are from close friends and it’s all biased. Would not recommend the flan nor the mofongo or pastelon. Customer service is bad too - I wanted to reach a fair solution and all it felt like was that I was being blamed for the quality of my order. Unprofessional. I had such high expectations for it and my whole order and experience was a disaster.

I have been supporting this business for years. I’m leaving a review because it has come to my attention that someone is leaving negative reviews to hurt a business I love dearly. Lyana, the owner is a true pioneer in the Afro Latina Community. Her work and brand speaks for itself. (Google her) She has created an entire genre of food, and never forgot about her people along the way. Supporting a business for the food is one thing, but I choose to support this business because SHE and her staff, are apart of my community. She employs people, she stays true to her roots and she does so with grace. I hope that if your reading this you get to experience her business and her light. The only thing I wish is that she was able to have a restaurant already so I can order at my leisure! Oh, and try the chopped cheese egg rolls. Game changing! #Teamblackricanveganforever

As an organizer of events for our locals in the Bronx providing a top vegan chef in our community is a priority. BRV has always exceeded the standards of ethical partnership. She shows up earlier than other vendors, stays up all night taking a gamble on turn out on numbers, provides food, desserts & drinks, brings a beat face, has well done branding.. I can go on. She’s reliable, authentic CONSISTENT, and passionate about her business. The food is truly the cherry on top. The dedication in delivering the assorted flavors and culture through her food is noticeable. Thank you BlackRicanVegan for providing that heartfelt commitment through your cuisine. We’re grateful to have u at our experiences.

I’m sure the food is excellent (unfortunately haven’t tried it yet), just leaving this review to confirm that this place does not appear to be operating at 2191 3rd Ave any longer (at least not between the hours of 12 and 5 as it says on Google) - my partner and I just went down to try it and there’s no pop up market on that part of the street anymore. But if they ever come back I’ll be first in line!
