Great park to walk or relax in. It's seriously a massive park with lots of trails to choose from and also has great spots for picnics and just spending time with family. There's also a carousel and a lot of vendors selling italian ice and frozen treats around the park. I imagine that the trees would look beautiful in the fall or after a it snows in the winter too. Forest Park is like the Central Park of Queens. Would definitely recommend coming here. It's close to public transportation too.

A dad of 2 young kids, and I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting places to take them. I was really impressed when I found this, The playground was clean, well-maintained, and had a lot of shade, which was perfect for a hot summer day. The kids had a blast playing on the playground. There were slides, swings, climbing structures, etc. In addition to being fun for kids, the playground was also a great place for parents to relax and socialize. There were plenty of benches and tables, and the playground was located in a quiet neighborhood next to Forest Park. Highly recommend this playground to any parent looking for a fun and safe place to take their kids. It's a great place to let kids run around and burn off some energy, and it's also a great place for parents to relax and socialize. Would definitely recommend this playground to any parent looking for a fun and safe place to take their kids.

I rarely give 5 stars but good lord this is a hidden gem in nyc. I think it's the only actual forest in nyc. So much beautiful wooded space you can actually find privacy inside nyc. The only thing missing is camping. Beautiful running trails for you and your dogs. Lots of wildlife with chipmunks running amock and owls, hawks foxes. Horse trails also! And great grafitti art with old retired train tracks. Super cool to explore and urban exploration.

Among the parks in NYC, this is one of my favorites. being divided by woodhaven boulevard doesn't stop this from being a large park. massive. on one side, you've got a golf course, band shell, grilling areas, a carousel, basketball courts, and a kids playground. and on the other side, you've got a massive baseball field that doubles as a soccer field, a softball field, a full track for running, and plenty of walking/hiking trails. it's a place I go to all year round but especially in the summers. there's plenty of parking on the west side of woodhaven and lots to do. if you're planning on using the grilling areas during a holiday, I suggest you head out early and reserve a spot. the park is popular and fills up quickly. if you decide to walk the trails, aside from the sounds of cars in the distance, you can easily find yourself feeling like you're in a forest miles from a city.

I’m a spring baby and this park was my haven this year. So many interesting surprises along my hike through it. One of my little gems. It’s clean and never crowded. I spot blue jays and other colorful birds and wild cats. Feels great being wrapped up in nature. Every visit cleanses my soul from the overwhelm of the City that I love❤️❤️❤️❤️

A nice park with forest like feel without any of the risks, as they have a tons of trails and it is always close to the road (max half a mile). Allocate at least 1 hour for it as the closest subway station and bus stop can be over 30-40 minutes away at various parts of the forest. There were a few spooky things due to people not respecting the forest which makes you feel sad but also wonder why that and why there.

I am loving this park since discovering it last year during the pandemic. If you’re from around the area, this is definitely a great way to enjoy nature in Queens. Trails are paved and are well maintained. Just please do take your trash with you and leave no trace.

Absolutely beautiful and quiet!!! Loved the trails. It is very hilly, so be prepared for the inclines. The leaves are stunning to see in the Fall. Perfect foliage 🍂🍁

So pretty! Loving the fall colors, the crunchy leaves, the open roadways, some closed to traffic. Many people jog here or bike here or simply go for a stroll. Very calming although easy to get confused navigating the entrances and exits of the trails and stuff.

Visited the Bark Park. Lots of room to run around in. Plenty of room to play fetch with a ball. Separate sections for big dogs and small dogs. The dog park is all dirt so it gets muddy. Ruby loved her visit, but had to be cleaned after her visit. She loved running in the mud puddles.

One of the good park to drive and breathe some fresh air straight from the trees. I avoid this place on weekends as it tends to be crowded. It is a good place to hike for like an hour. I enjoy walking under the shades of these gigantic trees. The hike makes you feel good and lively. Recommended if you live within 5 miles radius.

Started coming here more often in the last few months, because I have more free time and got tired of Flushing Meadow Park. This is the best place to go on a hike in NY as if you were in the wilderness without actually being there. I do wish there were lots more road map signs so I don't get lost. As well as more benches throughout the park, because it's hard to work so far without a good place to sit sometimes.

Amazing place! You'll loose track of time walking here cuz it's so peaceful. There are many hiking trails, bike lanes and a small pond with small fishes and turtles. Only down side is that it is packed with mosquitoes. Extremely family friendly. Since there isn't many places where you can go nowadays during this pandemic I will suggest you take your family or friends and take a visit here.

Great experience that feels like the woods of the countryside. Aside from Jackie Robinson Hwy that you can see from a small area of the trail, it’s protected and city structures are out of sight. Highly recommend!

The park was created in 1895, however some of the trees are over 150 years old, it’s the tenth largest park in nyc, third largest in Queens, about 500 acres, rich in green & history, open all year, high quality air, this place makes for a fantastic outing/hike every time.

Such a great, large, and beautiful park. Many trails inside of it. Very wooded. Great to go for some light hiking or walk the dogs. There are also horse trails inside of it. The only problem is that it's not very clean. Trash is thrown around the trails often and there's broken glass and broken bottles all over the place. It's best to stay directly on the main trails or the well-kept trails because the side ones have so much glass and I'm afraid for my dog's paws. Overall, it's nice to have such a large park with many walkable areas in Queens.

One of the most "woodsy" parks I've been to in the city. The scenery is pretty amazing to take in.

Beautiful park with trails for riding, walking, basketball, kid friendly, toddler swings, adult swings, dog park within the park that is enclosed. You can find many moms and dads playing with their kids in the playground or simply just strolling their babies...grandparents too! Love it. Very clean.

If one owns a dog this is the best place there's a very large area of where you can take your dog off leash. And your dog will love it. Very clean. Very well manicured. I will definitely go back often

Walk in the park any morning heading down to the Subway. Always cooler in Summer and a little warmer (windbreak) in the Winter. Lucky to live nearby, with the city doing a good job of maintaining.

Did you know this park was designed by the same person who did Central Park? There's so much to do in this huge park. I've gone horse back riding, biking, running, yoga, foraging and more. A lot of locals here so you won't be bumping into a lot of tourists like Central Park. Enjoy!

It's an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle. It's literally a forest. It was a great experience to lay down on the ground and watch the stars. It also has an antique carousel. It's a good spot to have a picnic and go for a jog. I really enjoyed Forest Park. I recommend to spend an evening.

  • 4/5 Loren W. 3 years ago on Google
GREAT place to roam around freely and enjoy a fair amount of green and varying terrain outside the concrete jungle. But I'm taking a big fat star off because right as it fell dark, there were sketchy people like every 100 feet or so on the trails who almost seemed to be lurking, giving me stone cold looks in spite of me waving or saying hey or whatsup... maybe the idea that I felt like I as made to feel unwelcome or like a target was in my head, but the vibe was way off and public parks should not feel this way. I urge people to travel in groups if your self-defense skills or athleticism isn't up to snuff.

It was raining but I don't blame the park. What I like: . The park is well named; it's a true, dense forest in a city . The bandshell must be great on a nice summer's night . A volunteer generously cleaning up the garbage . The trees . Small pocket gardens (by greenhouse, by administration building, etc.) Become a volunteer for this city asset.
