I visited Foley Square to attend a protest for abortion right and reproductive justice. Five stars, would visit again for the same reason in a second.

Plenty of room to walk around and take selfies or whatever. Because the pedestrian walkway is wide open people will not say anything or give you a weird look should you walk and stop. So enjoy looking at the beautiful architecture of the old buildings. Just pee first as there is no public restroom anywhere. Update: 8/12/21 Lucked out. Sick passenger caused the train to go express and stop at Brooklyn Bridge so I had to walk back to Canal Street. Caught them filming Law and Order.

Love the immersive view of this space. It’s fun to check out if you have never been to this location.

Foley Square is a street intersection in the Civic Center neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York City. It’s a small triangular park named Thomas Paine Park. The space is bordered by Worth Street to the north, Centre Street to the east and Lafayette Street to the west. It’s located south of Manhattan's Chinatown and east of Tribeca. Foley Square is surrounded by different government buildings and courthouses.

A must to see on your trip to NY. The old and new architecture are fused in a most rewarding way. The area is packed with great sights, you just need to keep your blinkers wide open. Lovely area to spend an afternoon.

They need to take better care of the African burial ground memorial. It's fading.Nice area. Visit Story corps and have your story recorded. Skateboarders are always around. They film out here often too.

This whole area is a gr8 spot for tourists and big apple-ites alike. U have gorgeous architecture just from those court buildings, let alone the rest of the visible skyline. An awesome lil park right across the street that has some beautiful art installations. The 'Triumph of The Human Spirit memorial' jumps into view first, it's sleek black curves and height give it gr8 contrast to its surroundings. Then u have a newer installation, one of my personal favs, 'Seeds', aka '13 Moons'. They're basically long dead stumps/roots from the Peruvian highlands that artist Jaime Miranda-Bambaren exhumed and re-birthed into this awesome eye-candy for us all 2 enjoy, thereby turning death into life, thus the tag 'Seeds' (they actually do look a bit like seeds now too, lol). A description i just found says: They are centennial arbors, planted in Viceregal times, razed by our degrading "modernity". By transforming such remains into "Seeds", Miranda affirms an ecological claim and a resurrectional act - "to transfigure those fields of sown death into almost breathing images of life". Xtra info- There's a Citi-bike rack right there, a big plus for those that use em.

Thomas Paine Park / Foley Square It’s a beautiful park with water fountain and interesting sculpture near the court house. The court house and the surrounding buildings are all amazing architecture to enjoy. Now has enormous interesting sculptures in the park, come and check them out!

Today was a great day for a march. It's integral to fight for the freedom of all. Especially, when the freedom of choice can mean protecting one's life.

Foley Square is a nice stop off for a rest on a park bench. City Hall, Municipal Building, federal and state courts, City Hall, Chinatown, African Burial site and other historical and architectural sites are a short walk away. Be wary of some homeless who are sometimes in the area.

COURT.... nothing good or uplifting around here👎 This is most certainly where you're going to be, should you encounter any legal issues, or jury duty. Typically, a gloomy area anyway, people aren't generally around here for the area's pleasures, THAT'S for sure. Whether you work within one of the many intricately columned, roman-style courthouses, or if you're entangled in any of the many kinds of legal jousting, it's not beauty, pleasure, or even relaxation which attract the many crowds of people to the square, daily.

NYC has Summer Streets once every year around August where you get to ride, walk, and run from Centre Street all the way up to Central Park. If you're in the city it is definitely a worth it experience that starts around Foley Square. Aside from that, the square isn't too busy so you can drop by and relax in the park's setting.

Busiest area during the evenings. Great place to rest and watch the band play after a good walk around lower Manhattan or if you’ve just finished crossing the Brooklyn Bridge 😄

Being in the presence of my ancestors is a beautiful feeling. I'm great ful to be around my history. It's beautiful up there and everyone should go see it. The one thing I don't like is that the fountain was very dirty and it was not on that needs to be corrected asap.

State and Federal Courthouses were built on Foley Square. It was named Foley Square after Tom Foley only because he had recently died and the governor at the time Al Smith loved Tom Foley and wanted to honor him.

Great looking and tasting pastries on a bite of the pricey side. It's definitely something to explore and try out if you need to take a walk after finishing a nice meal in any of the fine dining establishments located on Bell Boulevard.

There is a nice fountain in the square but there were MTA trucks blocking my view from the park bench. Didn't have much time to roam around since I was working but it looked like there was some interpretive items to explore.

Foley Square or also known as centre street. Is a unique area of town. Primarily because of all the Court houses in the area. Also police head quarters are there, at 1 police plaza. Soooooo, let's go, let's go to another interesting part of town. Not far away is China town, where you can eat original Chinese delicacies. This is an old school area preserved for our pleasure. Please note could be extremely crowded at times with native New Yorkers and visitors. Hey listen don't take my word for it, check out the area for yourselves. However, take mass transit it's way easier. Peace.
