Nice little Sicilian restaurant in Kips Bay Manhattan. Great food at decent prices. Servers were friendly and helpful. Great cozy ambience. However I am giving a 4 star because i wonder how i ended up paying 30% tips went i had chosen 20% on the machine. Didn't notice the amount until i left the restaurant.!

Constantly in search of delicious brick oven pizza and Norma’s did not disappoint. It was a bustling Monday holiday and with only 2 servers (really one doing the greeting, seating, order taking, bill collecting) I was amazed at how well the meal played out. Short wait for our table but given the holiday uptick for a weekday lunch we didn’t mind. Of note, Norma’s doesn’t take reservations. The restaurant has outdoor seating, very close seating inside so those concerned about social distancing may prefer to sit outside or further back in the restaurant. With so many options on the menu we decided to start with salad and a side of olives. Then had the challenge of picking out main dishes. Decided to order one pasta - gnocchi with bolognese and one pizze - porcini. Of note, extra bolognese sauce on the side was $3, which we didn’t mind paying, however was surprisingly small ~2/3 cup, if that. The food was DELICIOUS! Gnocchi pillows of yumminess and the pizza was everything I had been looking for - light, perfectly fired and flavorful. Our server of the many hats tended to us and everyone else from beginning to end - I was exhausted watching him run around! Hoping to return again soon! 👏🏼

The best pizza in NYC! So crispy and flavored. We also ordered nuts salad and octopus with garlic. Both delicious and worth a try! The ragu rice ball was cold and the cannoli were little disappointing. But overall, it’s definitely one of the best Italian restaurants.

Finally I found a great Italian restaurant in New York !!! The staff makes the food worthwhile at this restaurant. The cozy and warm ambiance swiftly transports you to Sicily. It truly feels like having a meal in Italy. Their pastas are amazing. If you are in the neighborhood, definitely go in! I will definitely be back!

Staff and food were great! Nice and cozy spot to relax with dinner. Our server was very attentive to whatever we needed. Had an arugula salad which was very good. The pizza was very good and crispy. Their lemon tart was very good, the only thing was that the tiramisu had too much cocoa on top. Otherwise a great experience!

Fantastic place with very authentic Sicilian dishes and amazing pizzas. Wine list is also very interesting. Lovely service. Feels like eating at a family in Italy.

4.4 ⭐️ The plain tomato ~spaghetti~ (not spaghetti but something like that) is one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever eaten. So simple and so good, I don’t know how they do it. Both other pastas I’ve had are also delicious - the mushroom linguine. Really nice food with an understated, classy neighborhood vibe. A solid neighborhood spot. We ordered some bread for the table which was dry and underwhelming.

Norma is Michelin recommended restaurant with well made dishes that are fairly priced. Somehow, all our ordered dishes had some hint of eggplant :) my recommendation is caponata, eggplant smear with green olives and capers.

The friend who organized the small gathering filled in the online reservation form a night before we went, but for some reason it didn't show up in their system. So if one wants to make a group reservation I'd recommend calling the place to make sure that the request has been received. I really really liked the artichoke, it can be shared with others as it is huge. I don't remember the exact name of the dish I ordered (might be the pesto) but it tasted fresh and very nice. For the desserts, I think that the flour free chocolate cake was really well-done. We also ordered lemon pie and tiramisu, which I think were good.

Having dined at Norma before and enjoyed a flawless culinary experience, I came back with high expectations. On my initial visit, the food was nothing short of spectacular, easily deserving a 5/5 rating for its quality and presentation in the food. However, my most recent visit to Norma presented a mixed bag of experiences. The highlight of the meal was the Caprese Cabucci, which I always get when I am here. Yet, the overall experience this time around was just mid. Initially, we were seated at an uneven table without a waiter for the first 30 minutes of our arrival, which was a stark contrast to the attentive service we had come to expect from Norma. However, our waiter was incredibly friendly and his efforts were appreciated and did help to salvage our dining experience. Taking everything into account, including the service mishaps and the initial inconvenience, I would rate this visit a 3/5 and a 4/5 overall.

Great atmosphere, service and the food. Really great spot for lunch and would come back for dinner. The muffaletta was incredible and my wife’s pasta was equally delicious.

This was absolutely lovely. The staff were very helpful and provided great service. Surprisingly there was no wait to dine indoors and our food came out very quickly. From salad to dessert it was everything we were looking for. The vibe is cozy and we could’ve stayed all night. It gives the feel of being in Europe on an summer evening.

The first time we had a ham with pistachio pizza was in Rome and we couldn’t forget about it. I’m so glad Norma has it and it’s so delicious! And of course you gotta get the Burrata. It’s. The. Best. I ate it too fast so I couldn’t capture it 😅

Delicious food at good price. The place is cozy. We ordered one pizza and involtinis (the dish contains two of them). So good! And the service was great :) Kind staff.

Cozy spot serving up sicilian food and wine. The food was overall delicious (although the pizza sauce was bland, in my opinion). The winners for me were the salad and the aranchi. I do think that this place is a little expensive for the quality of food offered.

Bottom line: Authentic, handmade Italian food that dazzles the taste buds. Very happy that we stopped in here for dinner on a Monday night. I can see how this quaint space can get busy. Spectacular food. I have no notes. You should definitely try the Beef carpaccio, Arancine, and the Busiate al pesto Trapanese (this was the surprise of the night not only with the texture, flavor, and unique shape of the pasta, but also learned that their pesto is vegan after we finished it). They also serve delightful pastas and pizzas from their wood-fired oven. Also, don't sleep on those desserts. The pistachio ice cream cake was so light and delicious! Service was great as well. Very knowledgeable server, and they just seemed to know when we needed anything. The restaurant was bustling and provided the right atmosphere. Would recommend and would definitely go again.

Personally the prosciutto & rucola wasn’t my favorite but it’s a decent ok pizza. I wouldn’t say the taste is worth the price though. However it was a nice, cozy, and clean place.

I went today with my friends because we were starving and Italian food can’t never go wrong, this place was amazing, everything we order were delicious and Lucca Il Gran Cappo hooked me up with the best pasta al carbone ever. Definitely coming back here to try more dishes. Small place but everything’s great. The colombian host made our lunch more special with conversations and service. Thanks guys !

Food was expertly prepared with attention to detail. The textures were pleasing, and the presentation was visually appealing. Service was just ok. And atmosphere for outdoor dining was plain, it could be hard to manage but I’ve been in other places where the outside feel just like inside.

Excellent Sicilian restaurant in New York. It’s small but cute looking. Staff is very friendly and good service. Starters and main course both have good selection and food tastes amazing with authentic Sicilian preparation.

Out of the touristic area this is a gem. The owner is Sicilian and the recipes show it. Tried several pasta dishes and a couple of pizzas. Service was very friendly and quick. The front dining area has more appeal than the patio, but still nice. Will be back.

Quaint and cozy Italian restaurant. The margherita and porcini mushroom white pizza were good - especially the crust which was light and chewy. The pizzas were lukewarm which was the only downside. We also got the pesto pasta and eggplant appetizer which were all very good. You need to ask the servers for complementary bread and olive oil.

Great experience eating here! The staff was very helpful, recommending plates and drinks. the food was very tasteful, and most options were Sicilian-style plates. The pizza was very good, and the desserts were just delightful! Would come back soon to eat here!

Simple, delicious Italian fare in a cozy spot. The gnocchi was tender and served a subtle yet flavorful sauce. We also split a pizza which had some pretty good sausage and a spectacular crust. This a great place to stop for a meal before seeing a movie at the AMC nearby.

Started off with some freshly baked bread, was very chewy and crunchy crust. Next for appetizers we had the octopus carpaccio and arancinis. Salad was a standout, very light compared to the rest of the Italian far. For the main, the seafood cous cous dish was good. The couscous were the small type so beware when you pour the soup over it it turns quite soggy very fast, but the seafood is well portioned and not too salty of a dish overall. Ended it all off with the pistachio cannoli, ricotta cream filling was a bit savory and sweet, nice balance.

Norma was absolutely fantastic! We went back twice during our visit in NYC. I am Italian and since I have been in the US I have been missing all the delicious food I was accustomed to, especially pizza. This is the real deal, best pizza I have had since I have been in the US! Quality ingredient, fair prices, great atmosphere, and nice staff (mostly all Italians as well). Would definitely suggest paying them a visit if you are in NYC and wan to have real Italian pizza.

The best Italian restaurant I have ever been to yet. Insanely good pizza, pasta and arancini and large wine collection, all at decent prices with ample seating and nice ambience. Their pizzas are around 10-in and the texture flavor and crust all were insanely good, and every single one I tried was really good with their flagship Norma (tomato, basil, eggplant and mozzarella) and Capricciosa being my favorites. For pasta the mushroom fettuccine was the best and for arancini, the flagship Norma is my top choice but all of them are really good. They also have coffee & tea and have pastries & Italian cornetto. Only thing I would not recommend here is their gelato.

Saw this place had great reviews and wanted to give it a try. I would 100% recommend you give Norma a try. This pasta dish was so incredibly delicious!

Delicious authentic Italian pizza and the best ganache in Hell’s Kitchen. Great fast seating with no wait on a Saturday evening despite a crowded restaurant. A great addition to the neighborhood. We can’t wait to return!

Been to several Italian restaurants all over Manhattan, this was my first time at Norma, and it was outstanding. The pizza had excellent ingredients and the dough was how it supposed to be in a pizza. The fresh pasta and ingredients were also stellar. The quality received for the price paid was incredible, hard to find this level of value/price in NYC.

This is a truly authentic Sicilian restaurant. The food is great and they don't rush you. In busy New York, it's so refreshing. Only once your apps are cleared will they bring out the main course. And only once the main course is cleared will they offer dessert. And only when you ask for the check will they bring it. If you're looking for a great meal experience and a place where you can relax, drink some wine, and enjoy good conversation with friends, this is the place to go.

Absolutely Fantastic. Great and unique appetizer followed by mind blowing gnocchi and pizza. Wow. Plus amazing atmosphere, the place is a historic classic.

Excellent little place with genuine Italian food. Wine was perfect. Davide our waiter was a gem. A bit on the expensive side, but absolutely totally worth it! Highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Joanna G. 2 years ago on Google
Still the best Italian restaurant in the neighborhood in my very humble opinion. Absolutely love their fresh pastas and the flavours of the sauces. They specialize in Sicilian region specialities and all their wine is from Sicily too! Seating indoors is limited and very close together so be warned about that if you're not comfortable, but they do have seating outside in the front and at the back (the back is nicer than the front)

Been here several times and still cannot get enough of it. I love the Sicilian vibe, food and culture of the staff, and I always return more than satisfied from a visit to Norma. I take everyone who comes to visit to Norma for some fresh wood-fired pizza and more and the success rate has been pretty solid. This place is one of the best in Manhattan!

Never in my life have I ever been so inspired and moved by food. Everything was absolutely amazing. I felt more taken care of in this place than in therapy. Service is absolutely excellent, and food is just insane. Thank you! I’ll dream of this place when I leave New York and I’ll eat here first when I come back. 💘⭐️
