I had our birthday celebration there two nights ago and unfortunately our experience was not as positive as we hoped, primarily due to the behavior of one of the server named Gabby. She’s been pushy, impatient and passive aggressive from the very beginning. During our visit, she displayed a consistently negative attitude throughout the evening. Notable incidents includes: 1. Disruptive communication: She insisted that the guest stop talking to listen to her. This not only disrupt the flow of our gathering but also created an unwelcoming atmosphere. 2. Aggressive behavior: at the end of our meal, she slammed our packed food on the table right in our face, which we found to be unprofessional and rushed. 3. Ordering oversight: Despite she suggested that we add additional dishes to our order, they were not included in the final list. This oversight resulted in a less-than-satisfactory dining experience. 4. Alleged Yelling: Some of my guests mentioned feeling yelled at by the server, further contributing to an unpleasant overall atmosphere. I believe in providing constructive feedback, and I hope you take this as an opportunity to address the concerns raised. I understand that every establishment has its challenges, and I am confident that your management team can use this feedback to improve the overall customer experience.

Came here for my birthday and really enjoyed the restaurant. They were recently named 50 best restaurants in NYC right now by TimeOut. Their bread is amazing, it melts in your mouth and I really enjoyed the octopus. We also tried the beef carpaccio, the pear salad and the chicken. All of them were delicious! Highly recommend not skipping dessert, the baklava cheesecake is worth trying!

I dined at Crown Shy for dinner, trying appetizers, main courses, and dessert. All dishes are meant to be shared so my party of 3 split everything with the exception of the drinks and dessert. Appetizers: To start, my table ordered the White Bean Hummus, 'Nduja, Pine Nuts ($17). The hummus was delicious but the vegetables it was served with fell slightly short in the flavor department. We also ordered the Romaine, Green Goddess, Breadcrumbs ($22) and I thought the few pieces of lettuce with breadcrumbs sprinkles inside was overpriced. Mains: One of the mains we ordered was the Short Ribs, Summer Beans, Potatoes ($105). The short ribs were tender and delicious - made to perfection. The potatoes were delicious as well and nicely seasoned. The other main we ordered was a pot of seafood and sausage (I do not recall the name). The seafood was very good - I did not eat the sausage. Dessert: I ordered the Honey Icebox Cake, Strawberry Sorbet, Almonds ($18). The cake was a little bit sweet and left a strange aftertaste in my mouth. The sorbet was divine - must have! Drink: I opted for the non-alcoholic Millennial Pink which was comprised of Strawberry, Ginger, Japanese Plum, Lemon, Soda ($14). It tasted very delicious and fresh and being pregnant, I appreciated the non-alcoholic drink menu. Making a reservation online was very easy and the staff was very attentive and kind.

Went for Indian tasting menu with a very eclectic selection of appetizers likr Galbi, squid, pomegranite yogurg from different cuisines. The main course contained traditional Indian dishes like butter chicken, Saag Paneer, and the main attraction whole roasted marinated chicken that is so flavorful amd juicy. Finished off with several desserts. Overall very good experience differing from their standard menu.

starting with what I loved- the cocktails were incredible… get the melona milk punch. it’s one of my favorite cocktails now in the city! I also loved their bread service- we went during white truffle season, so we got an amazing gnocchi with a generous serving of white truffle. we also got a 30 dry aged ribeye on the specials menu that came with salad and potatoes- it was excellent (for some reason though, they wouldn’t let us have it cooked medium rare, only medium). the toffee sticky pudding was also very good, but I didn’t love the sorbet that came with it. the ambiance and vibe of crown shy is very fun… not stuffy at all and the music was so good. I would come back for a drink and snack at the bar! the least favorite part of our experience was the service- there was so much confusion around the drinks and we were all given the wrong drink multiple times. It was forgivable, but it happened more than once during our visit, and it was clear to even us which drink was correct and which one was wrong, based on the garnish. For a michelin restaurant, we expected more from the service.

Crown Shy exceeded my expectations and I'll be returning. This is a great place to visit with both daring and safe eaters. The dishes were at the same time familiar and inventive thanks to many small details that elevated each preparation. Everything tasted great, the katsu pork was moist and tender, the orange ice cream with candy was a perfect contrast of flavors, and the summer salad had an ideal balance of acidity, bitterness, and freshness. Seeing the cooks work, their hands a blur, definitely added to the experience despite the occasional wafts of smoke. The waiter was attentive and very nice. The meal was not as expensive as I expected for the quantity and quality of food and service.

Checked out this Michelin one star during restaurant week. Service and food are overall pretty good. It’s very busy so expect some fair wait time. Love the foreign exchange drink. One star off that was off expectation: 1. there was a drink that delivered to our table by mistake before we ordered anything. We told the staff and she took it away. I guess it’s just too busy and staffs mixed up tables. 2. We made the reservation through third party Resy with a celebration note. Unfortunately our dessert didn’t come with candles. 3. No star off but personally I didn’t like the uni buttered fusilli.

Five star dining experience. I love how they have an open kitchen where you can witness the respect they have for the dishes they prepare for their guests. Meticulously put together, top-notch ingredients, friendly staff. Our server Mark was great! Please order the sticky toffee pudding for two.

One Michelin-star, Crown Shy is very good. I liked most dishes we tried. Like others have said, the bread is amazing. The crudités with hummus was also delicious. My only complaint is that we were sharing dishes between 8 of us and the server didn't suggest the appropriate number of each dish to order for the table so that everyone could try everything which left us having to reorder dishes that came out with only a couple spoonfuls. Totally reasonable dish sizes for a fine dining spot but a little ordering guidance would have gone miles as he knew we were sharing.

I ate at Crown Shy in January of 2023, and it was an overall great meal!! We showed up right when it opened at 5pm and sat at the bar!! We came for the desserts in particular, but wound up ordering the chicken and two drinks! The drinks were non alcoholic and absolutely incredible and refreshing, definitely a must try!! We also ordered the famous chicken which was an amazing citrousy blend of flavors and spice!!! The complimentary bread was also incredible. Finally, we finished with the sticky toffee pudding - so delicious and perfect for a cold night!! The only downside is it can be a bit difficult to find the entrance, so definitely give yourself some extra time to find the restaurant if possible. Overall, it was a great meal and I highly recommend if you're looking for a place to eat in the financial district!!

The food at Crown Shy is simply phenomenal. We were a group of 7 and nearly ordered every item on the menu. All were fantastic but some were the stand outs: the scallop, the pasta (picture below), the chicken (picture below) I cannot emphasize chicken enough, and the bread (picture below). We were seated at the table next to the kitchen which was an experience on its own.

Been hearing lots of great stuff about @crownshynyc and many people from work have been there since it’s so close to the office. My favorites were the dessert selection. I actually enjoyed them more whereas the appetizers and entrees were good but I wasn’t wowed. Especially loved the baba rum (took some time to figure out how to eat it) and the baklava cheesecake! Very tasty. For a one star restaurant the environment was a lot more hectic and noisier than I would’ve expected, but it was cool to watch the open kitchen.

Inventive, creative, and delicious. Just about every dish on the menu is great, and I love the family style concept. It’s one of my new favorites in the city, and a great place to try and share food with friends. Fun atmosphere in an open and airy space.

I had a fantastic experience at Crown Shy. I went for a meal by myself and sat at the bar. Bill was an incredible waiter/bartender. His suggestions for food were delightful. I had the Gruyère Fritters, Ricotta Gnocchi, and Baklava Cheesecake. All of those plates were incredibly tasty, and I won’t even start mentioning the pull-apart olive bread with a yogurt spread. I definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a lovely food experience in NYC.

We had reservations for Crown Shy at 8 pm on a Sunday and were seated right when we arrived. The interior of the restaurant is quite loud and dark so it was hard to hear our waitress. We ordered gruyere fritters, octopus, ricotta gnocchi, pork katsu, and short ribs for dinner. The gruyere fritters were a lot of fun - it was like a savory churro. The octopus and pork katsu were good but I think the ricotta gnocchi and short ribs were the stars. The gnocchi was very tender and it seemed to be stuffed with ricotta so they were really good. The short ribs are not braised like typical short ribs and are served as slices. The gnocchi and short ribs were my favorite savory dishes! We dessert we got thr satsuma orange and banana ice creams. Both tasted great but I think the satsuma was amazing - it was served with honey comb which adds a really nice crunch and the toasted marshmallow on top is a lot of fun. I would recommend Crown Shy for a fun dinner with several people so you can try several dishes!

Visiting Crown Shy is a novel dining experience, and there is a lot that I'd recommend. There are probably a few things that they can do better on but it was a great experience! The food was excellent (with a couple of dishes that were a bit of a miss). Greatly enjoyed the Pull-Apart Olive Bread and the Gruyere Fritters, which were both my favorites. The group also liked the Short Ribs a lot. The Grilled Citrus Marinated Chicken and the octopus were also very good! The service was good but exceptionally slow (We were sitting for over an hour before they took our food order). Watching the chefs cook in an open kitchen was a very interesting experience even though it gets a bit loud. The cocktails were great as well (highly recommend The Aftermath), amd the selection of wines was quite good too. Loved all the desserts that we tried, but the Sticky Toffee Pudding was our favorite! The Satsuma ice cream was also quite good. Highly recommend visiting Crown Shy for a unique fine dining experience.

First Michelin star restaurant and we had a great experience. We were lucky that someone canceled their reservation so we were able to grab a table for dinner the same day. Usually reservations may have to be placed about a week in advance or more, especially for busier times on weekends. We started off with the white bean hummus which came with fresh vegetables to dip. So delicious. One of the people in our group isn't a huge hummus fan but still enjoyed it. We were a party of 3 and our waiter suggested we order the ribeye which came with a kale salad and roasted potatoes. It was the perfect serving for 3, with food remaining. For dessert we were told by many people the sticky toffee pudding is a must. It came with an apple sorbet. The pudding was more of a cake consistency but delicious regardless! Overall this was a great meal and loved the ambiance and quality of the food.

Crown Shy was amazing! The ambience was great from the moment we walked in. The restaurant gets busier around 7. The service was great, everything we ordered was phenomenal. Everything is simple, yet delicious. Plus, it’s on the less-pricey side for a Michelin star restaurant. We’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food, and would go back again. The pork cutlet and cantaloupe chamomile negroni were amazing. Though the short rib was well prepared, not sure it was worth $105. I recommend trying it, though given their portion sizes, a group of 4 would be ideal.

A chef friend recommend this spot and it did not disappoint! I took my sibling here for their birthday as we are big foodies and we were delighted by the flavors. The service was great, but 4 stars because the waiter was a tad pushy with us on getting more dishes. We had ordered a starter, two dishes between us and desert and it was more than filling! The plating was a delight to see and the desert was the best one I have eaten in a long time.

Came here as a group of 4 and had a lovely evening. The food is pricey, but everything we ate was delicious. Menu highlights for us were the pasta with mussels, the fish that was tartare style and the octopus. Everything was great but those were our favourite items. Service is friendly and attentive. Would recommend for a special occasion!

The staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes that the restaurant offered and often make a good recommendation on cocktails. Cauliflower dish and Octopus dish are great and would recommend it Jasmine Sour is a perfect drink during the meal and will help you to keep refreshing taste. I liked the food but still think a few dishes still have room to make it better. (I can only speak to what I ordered) Pork chop - doneness - nailed it. The crusts outside was a bit over fried so a few bits tasted bitter. Yes. I will go back for the food and warm service

Had a meal here during after dining resumed in NYC (outdoor only)! The only downside was that they only allowed prefix menu so we weren't able to customize the options. It was a great meal nonetheless and very interesting cause l've rarely had a chance to dine out in the streets of the financial district (Fi-Di), in the middle of the tall corporate buildings. Food-wise: The pull-apart olive bread was very good, and very cute - exquisite in size so it doesn't fill you up before the actual meal, very buttery and warm. The white bean hummus, 'Nduja, Crudite' was also pretty good and had great presentation - lots of fresh root veggies like carrots and radishes that complemented the hummus The honey nut squash with sesame and pomegranate was one of my favorite appetizers. The squash was mashed, so it has very soft and warm texture, and the sweet flavor matched well with honey. The pomegranate seeds adds some citrusy crunch and sweetness to the texture. For entrees we got both the branzino with squash mole and Brussels sprouts, and the grilled citrus-marinated chicken with hot sauce. The branzino was very fresh and tender, the meat melted in my mouth. The chicken was tender and sweet, and the hot sauce adds an extra kick which complements the meat well The only small imperfection were the drinks, think they were pretty mediocre and so I did not take close up pictures! Do not recommend the drinks at all. We skipped dessert and went to another speakeasy for drinks after dinner.

I’ve been here when they served brunch before the pandemic and was just here for dinner. Sunchokes with hazelnuts and dates, romaine salad, cauliflower, swordfish…! Everything about the experience and the food is excellent. Wonderful staff, good vibe, low key. And if you can get in to Overstory, the bar on the 64th floor, it’s worth it just for the view!

Came here for my birthday and overall wasn’t disappointed. Food, service and atmosphere were all good. We started with the Cauliflower and the Asparagus, and then split the Bucatini and the Chicken for our main course. I would say don’t overlook the Cauliflower, it was perhaps our favorite dish of the night. We were originally leaning towards the fritters but thought they might be a little filling for a first course. Happy we went that way. The Chicken was also a highlight. The Bucatini wasn’t bad but fell a little flat for me. Felt like something I could make at home. Wouldn’t get it again. My only gripe, and the reason I am giving it 4 stars, has to do with the pacing of the meal. The menu is divided into four courses but our first two courses came out at once and our second two courses came out at once also. Didn’t make any sense to me. One dish each time had to sit and get cold while we ate the other. This is kind of a major disappointment for me and really hope next time it will be different. We got the Baklava Cheesecake for dessert with a couple dessert wines and that was incredibly delicious. Overall it was great. Just gotta slow down the bringing of the food out so your guests don’t feel rushed!

This place continue to surprise. The food is top notch as expected, had the grilled chicken, it’s cooked to perfection, meat is tender and juicy. The squid ink pasta is also one of my favorite, complex flavors that compliments all the ingredients. The best dish i think is the dessert, forgot what it’s called but you MUST get it !! It’s very unique, taste really good very balancing with all the different flavors. Will come again !

A great spot in the Financial District and worth the visit for that Michelin Star. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the drinks were on-point. We had the pull-apart bread, scallop crudo, romaine salad with green goddess dressing, roasted carrots (careful they're hot!), grilled citrus-marinated chicken, 40 day dry aged ribeye, and satsuma sorbet with toasted marshmallow and honeycomb. I also tried a smoked Paloma - chef's kiss!

Crown shy is a place I would definitely visit again. The portion is big and the food is delicious. The Katsu pork is full of flavor and tender. The special dishes is lamb and also amazing. The bread, sauce, and meat are tasty. You can watch the chef cooking in the kitchen which is very interesting. It's a place worth trying!

We were having a date and celebrating the birthday here, so lucky that we were assigned to the table by the kitchen. Had the octopus and spaghetti(sorry that forget the name)for appetizer, the famous chicken and ribs for main course, for desert we had the satsuma orange ice cream and roasted banana ice cream, they were delicious, the wine was fantastic as well. The service was welcoming and thoughtful. Really had a wonderful time here, thank you so much for the service.

The sticky toffee pudding and apple sorbet was one of the best things I have ever tasted! It was a birthday dinner and I had the cutest most perfect cupcake ever! It’s clear why it has a Michelin star. The staff were top notch - welcoming and friendly! The tomato salad with Calabrian chili was so darn yummy!!!!

If Crown Shy didn’t have a Michelin Star, I probably would have given it a 5. But it falls a little short of what I expect out of a Michelin. First the good: the building it is in is truly a masterpiece. I love the lobby and the entrance. The staff is friendly and eager to please. They have an incredible bar program and one of the best gin lists I’ve ever seen. I recommend the tomato and goat cheese, the marinated chicken, and the sticky toffee pudding. All of these were really great. The Gruyère fritters are good but seven is too many of them for a party of 2. By the time I was eating the fourth one, I was done. The short rib is over priced for what it is. The corn side is amazing but the beef itself was under seasoned. Hard to believe a Michelin star restaurant would forget finishing salt on a $105 dish. The bathroom wasn’t checked during the night. The waste bin was over flowing. Not a huge deal, but not what I expect at a Michelin Star restaurant. The biggest flaw was that they brought us the wrong dessert. When we pointed it out they of course took it back with an apology. But then both the right and the wrong dessert ended up on the bill. Again they corrected it with an apology, but what if I hadn’t checked closely. Again if Crown Shy wasn’t touted as a Michelin Star restaurant, I’d probably let these things slide, but I was hoping for more.

A great food experience. Everything had nuanced flavors and well thought out dishes. Music choice was interesting (early 2000s hip hop) but didn't mind that. The ambiance was very cool. My only comment is that our waitress was great, but her demeanor noticeably changed after we requested the resturant week menu. Otherwise service was outstanding! Would go back to try out their cocktails (they looked very interesting)

Crown Shy is a fantastic spot for a special night out. The service is wonderful, they make you feel right at home and are happy to give suggestions. The octopus with celery root and green peppercorn was our favorite dish as it was packed with well-balanced flavors Both pastas were tasty (Fregola & Mafaldine) and uniquely serviced with unexpected accompaniments. However, the mafaldine came to the table a bit cold which was the only disappointment. Crown Shy provides a ritzy New York night out with the strong vibe, delicious food / cocktails and exceptional service. *If you book on Resy and put the $50 deposit down, make sure it’s removed from the bill!

Had a pleasant experience at this restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice with a slightly dim lighting and a nice view of the open kitchen from the main dining area. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was great except for the pork chop, which was a little too salty for my liking.

Insanely good tasting food that is stunning to look at, enjoyed with a great ambience at a Michelin star restaurant, at a price tag that is surprisingly friendly to your wallet. Reservations are required and can be made on their website. For the prices, food and ambience, this is probably the best Michelin star restaurant experience one can get in New York without spending much. Strongly recommend. They initially provide complimentary pull-apart olive bread with labneh which was quite nice. I had the octopus a la plancha with chorizo and summer squash: great flavors that complimented each other, citrus marinated chicken: great flavor with a huge portion and cinnamon ice cream with buttermilk sorbet and blueberries: buttermilk sorbet was refreshing and had a nice tartness to it and complimented the cinnamon ice cream.

From the music, to the ambience, to the food (of course!) Crown Shy was a DREAM. The service at the restaurant far exceeded my expectations - from never having glasses go empty to having a sommelier select a wine that perfectly complimented our entire meal. Every dish was artfully prepared, the portions were great for sharing, and the courses were intentionally timed. We had a great experience and will be back!

There was a slight mistake from the servers, but was not disturbing. Their glass wine suggestion was great. I loved the natural skin fermented wine they recommended, and it fitted well with all the foods I ordered. (Gruyere fritter, Bitter leaves salad, duck ragu, fish, and an ice cream) All the foods are 'fun'. I loved the salad and fish, but rest of the foods were not entirely amazing, although everything was cooked and done perfectly. Servers are friendly and professional. Everyrthing was bit overpriced for what it worth, but acceptable considering its location and everything.

Everything about this dinner was just alright. Considering they have a Michelin star I definitely expected more from the food and the service. The space is stunning. We had the cauliflower - very boring, tomato course - excellent, bucatini - very boring, octopus - really good, pork chop - pretty good, and dorade - excellent. I wouldn’t go back but glad I checked it out.

Crown shy is one of the Michelin one star restaurants. It has a very high standard for food and service. Appetizers are all good. Pork. Pawn and dessert are well prepared and execute. Only complaint is the chicken isn’t too juicy and soft

Really great value for upscale casual dining, especially with the range of dishes on the menu. Definitely get the scallop and the octopus with rice. Grilled chicken is tasty but can be a lot for 2pax. Sticky toffee is a must have. Cocktails are stars here too!

I am surprised this restaurant has a Michelin star. It was good but not great, and the service was spotty with dishes taking a while between courses. The rock shrimp pasta had 3 shrimps. They did comp us the pasta after I made a comment about the lack of the shrimp. The best dish was the romaine salad with green goddess dressing. I have been to much better Michelin 1 star restaurants.

I quite like this place, good food, good vibe and friendly service. Their complimentary bread is so good, I love it! I can come here again just because of this bread. -White Bean hummus is good, but wish that we can have more veggies to finish the hummus. -Octopus is ok-ish, it’s a bit too hard but the flavor is good. -Squid ink bucatini is good. -Roasted Short Rib is so~~~ good! It literally melted in my mouth. Highly recommended.

Came here for an early dinner. Started with cocktails and the complimentary pull apart olive bread. It’s topped with more olives and sugar. Very very tasty. We then had the Gruyère fritters which were good but the least favorite of the things we ordered. The oysters with habanero were delicious. The crudo with strawberry and fresh mint was a great twist to a ceviche (closest comparison or sashimi). Very layered in flavors and one of my favorites of the night. Then we shared the roasted prime rib which was exceptional. I ordered the roasted banana ice cream, I wasn’t a fan of the caramel popcorn but that is simply a personal preference. The cheesecake was delicious and the fresh fruit really balances it.

Food is absolutely fantastic, apps and plates are all very family shareable. Tasty flavor for all dishes, high quality and fresh veggies represented at each dish. 1 critique might I add, is the plates need to be hotter, as in every dish was room temp. Which is fine but just a note! Absolutely delicous desserts and japanese teas as a pairing for the sweet desserts. All staff was very professional and on point. GREAT SHOW EVERYONE!
